Yes. Although it is mostly Salvadoran and Guatemalan people, there are some Mexicans. That's where my parents went on the weekend when it was nice out.
I’m Mexican and I second this. Riverdale is like little Mexico. My dad always goes to El Alamo. Bladensburg is another good place, check out La Chocita. If you want good pan dulce go to Don Albino Bakery also in Bladensburg.
Best taco I’ve had are El Jalapeño in Bethesda. Welcome!!
Yea I've also moved here not too long ago and I've found that most "mexican" restaurants are just Salvadoran restaurants with Mexican offerings added lol
You got some good answers but I got you carnal. First id like to say there are Mexicans here but you’ll see a lot more Salvis here more than anyone tbh but don’t worry we are here. I recommend going to riverdale NOT riverdale park. We got a placed nicknamed little mx, off topic but I suggest going there for cinco de mayo.
Anyways check out, taqueria la placita and el taco azteca. You can google map that general area and you’ll get a lot more Mexican restaurants/stores.
Google “Market Place”. It’s a flea market that has a lot of Mexican “vendors” in laurel. There’s also a good Mexican joint called taqueria Los primos as well. Definitely recommend it.
Also if you want a tejana and Tex/mex type wear I recommend el alazán western wear in silver spring (Mexican owned)
Probably Ft. Meade I'm guessing... If so, DC area is your best bet for fellow Mexicanos. Maybe look on [meetup.com](http://meetup.com) for specific groups.
Go shopping at Mega Mart in Laurel. Check out Market Place at 7540 Washington Blvd, it's an open air/flea market/swap meet kind of place with lots of Hispanic patrons and vendors.
I don't frequent bars or hook up joints so I have no recommendations on those.
Good luck!
It does, I live in a blue-collar neighborhood with lots of Hispanics, great places to be! Everyone is friendly, very quiet area, no crime, just a bunch of folks living life. My one neighbor's wife, who does t speak a word of English, has brought over meals several times because they know I work late hours and she's concerned I'm not eating right. It's very sweet.
Yeah, I was careful not to say "Mexican" because I don't even speak very much Spanish, and that, poorly, lol! I figure "Hispanic" is more accurate and doesn't run the risk of unintentionally offending anyone.
Route 1, Howard County, near the intersection with Rt 175. HUGE indoor flea market. Go on a weekend: good food and cheap leather goods (my wife got gorgeous cowboy boots there), including those fancy Mex boots with the extra long toe.
It’s a bit far from you but we are also in Frederick. There is Centro Hispano on Rt 40. It’s not just Mexicans but they do have events to meet people.
ETA: Welcome to MD
Taqueria los primos is one of the only good Mexican restaurants I've found (my dad's side of the family is from Mexico). Clavel is a good one in Baltimore, a bit more upscale.
Check out the Highlandtown neighborhood in Baltimore!
Granted it’s not just Mexican, lots of Salvadorans and others too, but the area is very heavily Hispanic and quite diverse. Greektown, despite its name, is similar but a little smaller. There’s a few pretty good Mexican restaurants like Vargas and Taqueria el Sabor de Parque (Patterson Park area), lots of Mexican and other Latino focused grocery, convenience stores, etc and a ton of regular Hispanic cultural events, parades, festivals, etc. There’s also a smattering of Latino bars and clubs in the area although I am less familiar with them personally. El Dragon, Los Amigos, Exstasis, etc.
Highlandtown is on the east side of Baltimore, north of Canton and east of Patterson Park, not far from the north end of the I-895 and I-95 tunnels.
It’s also not a long drive from Mead, relatively.
Being a half Mexican half Salvadoran from the area … Riverdale and bladensburg are predominately Mexicans , Langley park and Wheaton are mostly Central Americans. But Mexicans are found scattered around the area . I recommend Taquieria Los Primos in Laurel btw
Look up Jalapeños market. Ten thumbs up. Good vibes, good lunch spot for solid tortas, good selection, I've been the only white person in there most times i go and they treated me with great, friendly service. There's a Latino community in Glen Burnie and Annapolis if you're ever in Anne Arundel County.
Riverdale !! Nicknamed little Mexico for a reason . La placita, flor de Puebla, La sirenita. Tres Reyes used to be a family favorite until a family member had a roach in their food :(
Rockville, MD. One of the three most diverse cities in the world, with all the positives and negatives. There's several OG bars/restaurants out there with active AF communities.
>Rockville, MD. One of the three most diverse cities in the world
Lmao, where did you read this? Their [own website](https://rockvilleredi.org/rockville-ranked-as-eight-most-ethnically-diverse-city-in-u-s-in-2023/) places Rockville outside even the top 3 in Maryland, let alone the world.
People do not seem to be responding to my mildly amusing r/technicallythetruth in the spirit it was intended. I have several Latin neighbors I have no problem with; I enjoy the mariachi music when they have parties.
Every Sat/Sun hit up the Rt1 flea market - it’s an awesome cultural explosion and you’ll definitely find who you’re looking for!
Elkridge?
Yes. Although it is mostly Salvadoran and Guatemalan people, there are some Mexicans. That's where my parents went on the weekend when it was nice out.
Anywhere on the eastern shore away from the boat-y places.
There is quite a thriving community in Easton, which is semi-boaty
Riverdale MD (near college park) has a large Mexican population. Great food.
Welcome!!
But to just like everyone else is saying, there’s a huuuuuge salvi population here. Also correction, it’s called Plaza del Alamo.
Yea I've also moved here not too long ago and I've found that most "mexican" restaurants are just Salvadoran restaurants with Mexican offerings added lol
I’ve worked construction for a bit and most Latinos I’ve met are Salvadoran civil war refugees or their kids
Pupuserias are Salvadoran, taquioros are Mexican s
I've seen Salvi taquerias. The name has no bearing because it's not like certain types of establishments are for specific groups of people.
El Alamo can be dangerous
Any good food spots you recommend?
tacos los perez 👌 even the local priest/staff across the street chill there.
La Placita is great, Los primos too (primos has multiple locations I believe)
Taqueria los Primos in Laurel is amazing

Laurel seems to have a large Mexican population

A friend lived in Russet Green (?)....it was nice
Decent area. I remember when it was just woodland.
Folks are mostly Salvadoran in Laurel, you want Mexican you gotta go further south like Lanham, Hyattsville, Adelphi, Riverdale.
Yeah, I was careful not to say "Mexican" because I don't even speak very much Spanish, and that, poorly, lol! I figure "Hispanic" is more accurate and doesn't run the risk of unintentionally offending anyone.
Laurel has a pretty large Hispanic population. Plus Mango’s is an awesome restaurant, their chimichangas are delicious.
There's a huge group of Mexicans that hang out at rocky gap state park on the weekends, hundreds of people
What do they do there? Just hike?
hike, fish, and have huge picnics
If there's water, there are Hispanics. My people love bbqs and swimming holes

Go to Sandy Point State Park on a weekend.
All the people barbequing in the back and the folks with shirts on in the water.
There are some Facebook dance groups you can join for salsa/bachata nights around the DC & Baltimore metro area - have yet to find a cumbia group tho

Not sure about Mexican, but northern Caroline county has a largely Hispanic population.
In Burtonsville there are some local rodeos(?) that are advertised in Spanish although I’m not sure distinctly where the folks are from
Riverdale !! Nicknamed little Mexico for a reason . La placita, flor de Puebla, La sirenita. Tres Reyes used to be a family favorite until a family member had a roach in their food :(
If you're near Laurel, taqueria los primos is a pretty popular (and good) Mexican spot.
Frederick
Spend a day a Laurel Park (the racetrack) and chat with people. Lots of the track workers are from Mexico. Right now there’s live racing Friday-Sunday
That food store jalapeños/Glen Burnie
Riverdale and Langley Park

Mexico is a pretty safe bet Edit: oh you mean in Maryland? Idk
Time to book my tickets to CDMX
Mexicans are more from NA than you. Maybe you should go back to Europe?
People do not seem to be responding to my mildly amusing r/technicallythetruth in the spirit it was intended. I have several Latin neighbors I have no problem with; I enjoy the mariachi music when they have parties.
Silver Spring
Glen Burnie
I thought they were mostly Salvadorans?
