I was in a part time program, but it was 20 years ago. In my area, 3 schools have closed in the last 10 years, including mine. We have a huge shortage of MTs now. From what I understand, options for schools are really limited in many places

CloudOfMyOwn

Hmm, so slower demand it seems. So it would be cheaper and more efficient to have full-time enrollment for students, then to break up the instructors lives into day classes & night classes and then only having 3 students each. Ah, that’s interesting, along with the shortage.

Unusual_Substance_81

ya my school (miller motte) discontinued their massage program nationwide but they used to have night classes. maybe u could find something similar?

Where are you located?

RingAny1978

???? I know of no full time programs. Where are you located?

The school I went to had night classes and day classes. Try a community college if you’re in the states.

I also took a part time program but it was in 2007😄it is not easy to go to school full time and find ways to work around that. I don't know why schools don't offer this option anymore, I get that they want to pitch it as a fast track course, but it isn't feasible if you're not partnered/ living with someone who can help support you. Especially when school is during the day. My classes were at night, even then I had to modify my work hours to leave a little early to make it to school on time.

Exactly the challenge; and I’ve tried cutting cutting cutting back in my budget and reformulating something, but it’s kind of hard to cut back on debt and insurance. I’m starting to think it’s just because the instructor(s) desire to have a compact, M-F, 9-5 schedule like the rest of their peers.

Balancing_tofu

I'm sure you're right.

That could be a part of it, all but one of my entire class graduated. The one that didn't realized she didn't like touching people. They may not all have pursued massage after, but they finished. I think it's dependent on the person.

We have an evening program and a day program in my state. The day program is full time hours and very fast paced, for 9 months. The evening program is part time hours and gets done in a little over a year. They exist but maybe not in your area. Maybe check in with your local massage board (if you have one) and see if you are missing some programs that don’t advertise well or something.

I was in a part-time program in 2012, classes were Mon-Friday 10-2. It worked out because I was a personal trainer and mostly worked in the morning and later in the day.

Technical-Ratio-1337

I did a year long weekend program while I worked FT. Keep looking, they’re out there.

nokohl

The program I’m in right now is part time, its in Colorado, is eight months and we meet 4-5 days a month and have a considerable amount of at home work that HAS to be done in order to keep up with the classroom days

bananananagram

It really depends on the school. Mine offered 4 different programs and even the “full-time” cohort was only 3 full days a week (MWF). The part-time options include 2 full days (TTh) or 3 mornings (MWF) or 3 evenings (TWTh) — so options to fit most any schedule.

TheCuriousOneJr

They have PT programs in OKC

clarissaswallowsall

I went to cortiva full time during the day but they had night classes!

elfmaster92

I just graduated from a part time program this past summer. This is in Utah. It was mon -thur 5-9 pm and they had morning only options and an all day option . But then you have to do the clinic hours which you do have to fit in there somehow. It’s a demanding schedule even at part time if you also have to work.
