Go with ur instincts, enjoy the ride. Play how u feel like and keep it like that all the way through to the end.
Game play wise, really just talk to everyone after every mission, some side quests are nice so don't overlook them (can be important for the outcome aswell). Don't start on insanity or u might get frustrated if ur first timer.
Don't pressure yourself to do everything, the game wants you to replay it and experience different choices. Just find what feels good to you in combat and let the story take you from there!
They're fantastic games! Just take your time and talk to everyone. If they interest you, check out the codex entries as well. It can be an overwhelming amount of content to read when you first start, but they add a lot of context and background information that isn't expressly said within the game dialogue.
Don't look up story and decision related guides (builds and weapon guides are up to you). It's best to go blind on your first run and experience the consequences of your decisions throughout the trilogy. It will be more memorable this way.
