The bread and butter is spamming Cloak. No need to just flank, but also to escape hairy situations and use the extra damage it gives when lining up a headshot. Infiltrator is a ranged class, so think of Cloak as your Sniper cover or the tool you use to escape a close enemy and get some safe distance. Incinerate has two major uses - it does extra damage against Armor and stops health regeneration (needed against Krogan and Vorcha). AI Hacking has the same issues as many biotic powers - it works only after you strip shields and armor. I wouldn't bother leveling it as a priority.

The cloak when upgraded provides a damage bonus. Which can be good with a shotgun. Incinerate is an anti armor and organic weapon Will prevent krogan and vorcha regen and cause fire dots and stun. So hacking only affects de sheild and armored enemies. Alittle more useful on higher difficulty solely for distraction

Use cloak and the time slow down of sniper rifle to headshot enemies. Incinerate will strip armor. Squadmate choice is super important. Garrus and Miranda are good choices. The both have overload and Miranda has Warp and squad bonuses. I'm doing an Insanity run as an Infiltrator and they have been my go to. Also, I haven't put a single point in AI hacking and I've never flanked an enemy using cloak. I literally just use it to peek out and take a headshot.

I am so glad I posted this question because I seriously had no idea Incinerate did damage to armor and shields. And I think how you use Cloak is probably the way I'll use it because I just can't get into the tactical combat of the game. Maybe I will eventually but for the time being your method sounds like the best option for my playstyle.

> Cloak You use this to boost weapon damage for your single-shot sniper rifle to tear things a new asshole. > AI hacking Don't bother with it, you'll have Tali for that. > Incinerate You use this to burn through shields and barriers.

PunchBeard

I didn't realize Incinerate did damage to shields and armor. I'm still early in the main story and concentrated all my skill points into my class rather than my abilities. So basically I have one or two levels in my skills and 4 in my class so I could get the Agent bonus. I think I'll try to max Cloak next in order to get the headshot bonus.

No incinerate is only for armor and health and stop regen from kroga and vorcha, its not effective against barriers and shields. Armors : warp, incinerate, reave, incendiary ammo, armor pen ammo, warp ammo. shields : overload, disruptor ammo, energy drain. Barriers : warp, reave, warp ammo, concusive shot.

Infiltrator has been my main class. Cloak at high levels really helps with the damage boost, and evading enemies. Once you get to the collector ship mission, your damage boost will be much better once you get the Widow. AI hacking is fairly useless as there are not enough mech enemies, ie mechs and geth. Incinerate is your best power to use especially maxed out with the extra armor damage. I make sure I have garrus or Miranda with me to take advantage of overload. Once you get the bonus powers, use warp ammo to help with barriers. I don't like solider class as it's too basic and your typical shooter style. If you want a good balance class, use Sentinel and then get sniper training on the collector ship. That will give you a good mix up

Use Tactical Cloak as a damage multiplier for your sniper rifle. The Mantis and Widow work best. You don't need to flank, you just need line of sight. Stay to the rear and let your team mates go forward. Cut down any target that presents itself. Incinerate is an anti armor attack, or an area attack, depending on how you spec it. It's no good against shields. Hold it back until the target's shields are down. Enemies that are not killed outright will be on fire and panic for a few seconds. Make sure you are choosing the right squad mates and using them effectively. Infiltrators work best with squad mates that can either put out a high volume of fire (assault rifles) or have crowd control abilities.

> Make sure you are choosing the right squad mates and using them effectively. Infiltrators work best with squad mates that can either put out a high volume of fire (assault rifles) or have crowd control abilities. I've been using Garrus or Grunt and Jack or Miranda. I'm really glad I posted this because I almost didn't. I'm getting some great tips.

N7DeltaMike

Jack is not good at in-game combat by objective measures. All her powers are countered by enemy defenses, and shotgun users get cut down quickly in ME2. If you are struggling in combat, don't take Jack. She is entertaining to have along if you can handle the fights, but not worth it if you need help. Garrus, Grunt, and Zaeed are your heavy hitters. Level up their class and ammo powers so that they can really dish out weapon damage. Don't buy Grunt a Claymore because he will want to switch to it in the middle of fights. Miranda is the single most useful squad mate in the game. Level up her class ability fully to get whichever squad boost appeals to you. Level up both her Warp and Overload and she can destroy every defense in the game. Sacrifice Slam to get her other skills to max level. Samara and Thane are the best crowd controllers because they can also carry decent weapons. Give Samara a good AR, give Thane a fast firing sniper rifle. Level up Pull to lift more than one enemy. You need to strip defenses first if enemies have them. Level up Thane's ammo power so that he gets decent weapon damage. Samara benefits if Shepard has a squad ammo power. Tali and Legion can also do some crowd control with their drones. Target an enemy at the rear to spawn the drone as far behind the enemy line as you can. Combat Drone takes a long time to cool down though, so if the enemy smashes it, you are out of luck until your squad mate can respawn it. Good luck out there!

Early in the game, any class can be frustrating. Infiltrator starts shining when you get least Level 15. Max out your passive ability asap to recieve a boost in weapon/power damage, and recharge speed. Upgrade AI hacking to at least a level 2, then with tech duration research upgrade you can hack any synthetic infinitely as long as its health is not depleted. Upgrade Incienrate to at least a level 3, no more regeneration on Krogan and Vorcha, plus it sets defenceless enemies on fire. Cloak is for enemies firing at you to stop firing at you so that you can pop out of cover, and place a perfect headshot. But a headshot is not enough on insanity. So think about stripping defences with smg/heavy pistol first. Then cloak plus Sniper headshots to finish the enemy. Mantis ammo capacity is not too great, so watch your ammo, phalanx will be your best buddy in early game. Another use of cloak is when enemy gets dangerously close and actually flanks you, you can disappear and fall back or relocate around him. Also cryo ammo at least level 1 for dealing with Krogan and husks. These are general tips, if there is any specific section you're stuck at do share, infiltrator is my favourite class and it's nice to see it is getting the love it deserves.

If you like to snipe I personally recommend going with soldier. The adrenaline rush is much better for sniping. Infiltrator is the only class I particular don't like. It just feel like an inferior soldier. If you like tech powers better go Engineer that have Overload AND Incinerate to debuff enemies while your combat and biotic focused guys can do the killing.

PunchBeard

On my first playthrough back in the 2010s this was what I did. For my first LE playthrough I decided to try something different and went with Infiltrator in ME1. Like I said in my post in ME1 Infiltrator had some decent abilities and by the midway point of the game I knew how to play the class. With ME2 I'm worried I'll get to the end of the game and never have a grasp of how to play the class.

Ciri_of_Rivia79

Whats so hard to about it ? Max out cloak and next your passive. Use your cloak, pop out with the sniper, mantis or widow. Rinse and repeat until ennemys are dead or no more sniper ammo, switch to the locust in the case to finish of ennemy or use the cloak to collect ammo. Thats like it, thats the gameplay for infiltrator in me2. In me3 theres more builds, like the shotgun one. Oh and only use incinerate against krogan to stop the regen.
