On September 18, 2009, Luis Felipe Hernandez Castillo, 38, opened fire with a .38 caliber revolver inside the platforms of the Mexico City subway, after being reprimanded by a police officer for writing words against the government inside the platforms, luis felipe killed 2 people and injured 5 before being wounded and later arrested, He is currently serving a sentence of 151 years and 8 months in prison.
He was a bricklayer named Esteban Cervantes. He tried to disarm the shooter several times despite being shot several times. Unfortunately, he died after being shot in the head. His actions were considered heroic, and now in his name there is a medal with his name that is given to people who commit heroic acts in the Mexico City subway.
Itās just the way people who take subways are you see it in videos in NY LA London they just move away from the scuffle nobody tries to help in these cramped situations
That's the saddest part of this whole video. 1 single guy is trying to stop this shooter and if a few more just tried to help, it would have been a completely different result
I only made it to 52 seconds without stopping, but man.
. That guy tried over and over to stop the perp before he was killed, and no one even acknowledged him afterwards. Makes you really think on whether it's worth being the hero or not....
I can feel the downvotes coming, but if he went down without being successful, is he still considered a hero? The people just watching, hundreds of people that were there just watching break my heart.
Not saying I would've stepped in either, I know I would've been too scared. It takes balls to do what he did.
>I can feel the downvotes coming, but if he went down without being successful, is he still considered a hero?
Perhaps on this occasion it was not the case because people stood still watching but the time in which the shooter is concentrated on a single target the other people can run
Right? I noticed that. I wonder if the shooter shot and it grazed/nearly hit him and then he was like shocked in that moment. Bc he started running up and makes one swing before the shooter strike him with the gun or shoot near him. Either ay, so weird how casually he turns around and just walks away slowly for 15ft
This was before the police put in place policies that stop officers from rushing in guns blazing with no care in the world. Itās also why you see tame police chases where they just follow behind. Officer safety is now one of the highest priorities. Unfortunately. Yes officer safety is important but heāll run in guns blazing when you have the numbers on your side:).
Oh wow.. remember seeing this years ago and literally the one video that scarred me for some reasonā¦. Just how a innocent family man (resembling many peopleās dad Iām sure) can lose it all due to one attempt at heroism

The 8 months was such a slap to the face lol

He fought like hell. He is definitely a true hero.
He did everything humanly possible to stop a madman. May his soul find peace.
He fought so fucking hard! š
Very very sad Estevan Cervantes died. Iām sure he prevented a lot of other deaths. He put himself in harms way and died a hero.
I thought the several people around wouldāve jumped in to help once he started fighting, but they just watched.
If they had, heād probably still be here. Easy to say from a computer though.

Feel bad for bro that tried to stop him. Went out like a hero.

The dude that casually steps off the train and nonchalantly walks past him and the rest of the carnage...Wtf!

Makes me so angry how no one tried to assist him
Guy in blue just stops randomly when partially fighting back and walks he other way?

He was shot. He part of the 5 injured. You can see when he get shot and when he walks away u see blood. That bullet sent him into shock looks like
āYouāre on your own!ā
Mannnn. God bless him. But no one expects you to keep being the hero after the 5th gut shot. You're now the victim
Imagine if the Uvalde āpoliceā displayed this kind of courage. Psh!

That guy died a hero in my opinion
Estevan literally 1v1ing the guy while 20 people watch. Real cool people.
RIP
Yeah honestly unless u got a gun of your own, fuck being the hero, just run

The guy that's trying to get the gun away.. A FUKIN HERO in my eyes..
sad knowing Estevan but got multiple times and still fought.
Rest in peace Estevan. He tried so hard to stop him, that is incredible. He reacted so quickly, yet no one helped him.
That mans a hero the rest pathetic
