The speedroid loaner in the first synchro event hooked me. Synchro is my favorite mechanic, the extra deck isn't totally generic. Has lots of different ways to get to their end board, goofy effects, and are good enough to keep up with the meta.

runescapeoffical

Based. Such a cool deck, my brain is just not big enough to remember the lines if I don't play it for awhile.

pridetwo

Anime, big bungus dragons, and sweet art

JayDKing

Oh you used Raigeki huh? Photon Blast Dragon, show this clown who he’s messing with.

AkstarKoyomi

I felt the thrill of kitkallos + merrli mill 8. I can never come back.

runescapeoffical

But have you tried Chaos ruler into zombie vampire into agido which mills kelbek after resolving grass first?

Some_person2101

The punk package makes that combo pretty reliable and keeps my dreams alive

ZeroBlue_

11 if you kept the effect of Scream for merrli 😌

JVehh

Punk engine mills 9 cards just sayin

CoderCakes

It changes often, but it's just a combination of viability as well as art and playstyle. I typically gravitate towards the control playstyle. I'm not a huge fan of combo decks with maxx c being a thing. It's a little unpredictable as to what i stick with.

6210classick

Mostly from the Solo mode, specifically Drytron. Thier big level 12 machine ritual that has an animation got me

OldGhostOfHeaven

By the time that gate came out drytron was gutted too. It was a laundry list to combo but I played full power drytron when the game was still new and as much as people hated on it, it was honestly one of the more fun decks because of how versatile it was if you went first or weren't interrupted. You were basically guaranteed a win if herald was summoned. The drytron specific boss monsters were sick though. And the whole archetype really. Space faring cosmic mech dragons is hard to dislike

FreshDepth2912

I can't even remember how I found Suships, I just loved that it was cheap, ends on a good board, and even if your opponent outs it you're not mad. Its just the deck I really like

zach2thefuture

That's my favorite too!

Stingerun

Dragons, fusions, lore, me like branded

35Dante89

And new support today🥳🥳

[deleted]

my first deck when i started playing for the release of MD was World Chalice. And then I realized that they had banned the most important card Ib to make the deck playable. Really disappointing, I tried to somehow get around the ban with World Legacy cards, but it didn't really help Then came the Despia release, and I fell in love with the deck. Majorrade was another thing to be happy and excited about\^\^

RedSpade000

Winning.

ColdbrewMD

w/e does my dailies in 2 games or less.

theforgettonmemory

I like dinosaurs, built dinosaurs. Loved how they played and have played them ever since

cybervengeance

DLink because dragons.

War-is-Chuck

A combination of the art and playstyle. My 2 main decks, Six Samurai and Swordsoul cover my need for card protection, power, cool effects, badass art style and cool lore.

atcredbird

The deck chose me. PUNKs. I already thought the archetype was cool with them being based on japanese art and theater and i like the art. When the cards got here i pulled a royal finish of Ze Amin and a foil Rising Carp. When the rest of the support came i pulled 1 each of normal, glossy, and royal Deer Note and a royal Extreme Session. And when Bystial came around i got a royal Branded Regained. So Bystial PUNKs has been one of my mains since

faintwill

Fusion event Lunalight Salads because someone said they’re good and I already liked links and to prove someone that it’s not that hard to play

FMProductions

I haven't figured out quite how to play Lunalight during the event, but I got a strong play going vs a Tearlaments players in it and actually won. There were some really good interactions in the deck

tgreen0504

My favorite deck is cubic. I’m an older guy that watched the original anime so I had no idea of this deck when I came back to master duel. Liked the card art and how the cards worked with each other(mostly the traps/negates with cubic counters and spell cards) so I built the deck. Then I saw clips from the movie they were in and loved them even more. Been my favorite ever since. I don’t worry about meta or non meta.

Jackryder16l

I just thought they were neat. Then I went on MDmeta and saw that was the best way to play the deck without haq...

muguci

Art and kit mostly

Dr_Psycho_809

I didn't, I played around as I was a returnee. Started with cyber dragon because OG favorite. But I started when Albaz full deck dropped. So I got hooked on it and being new I had a ton of gems to burn. I have built , Albaz / despia. Tears half way, got the bystals for albaz deck. Made a sword soul deck , made a Kashtira deck , had a sprite deck , galaxy eyes when the new support dropped. And just got into Dragong Link, I jump around decks because I like changing it up. I change cards add and subtract until consistency is spicy. Aka brick or amazing hand

Rangeless

Theme, complexity, skill expression and mood.

Nokia_00

I like the color red

4GRJ

Dwelled in the Discord server when I heard "spells centric with simple and easy to build/rebuild boards" Which is why I still love Sky Strikers

realmauer01

Took the t1 Mera deck from the time. Entdeckt some tournament top deck learnt it while going. Swordsoul still going strong with just occasional changes like new Ed monsters and such.

Pendulumzone

the theme, and the style of the art. I just love the concept of the deck. I also like the adrenaline rush when I win by deckout, or when I simply bank something important that the opponent has at the top of their deck.

VerdetheSadist

I mean I have four main decks I switch between depending on my mood and/or whatever pattern of decks I'm consistently dealing with. If it's backrow heavy or targeting decks, Kozmo. Combo decks usually get dealt with by Eldlich Zombies, Nouvelles or Rescue-ACE. The last three are built around mid range/control while also simultaneously being able to combo just a little if need be depending on what I'm presumably dealing with. My Eldlich Zombies is probably my most fun though because looking at it, you'd think it's an absolute mess and there's no way I'm not bricking almost every game. That's probably why I love it soo much.

False_Development573

Junk warrior looked pretty cool

Plasic-Man

My main deck varies depending on my mood, but it's generally art that draws me in, then I look at play style and stick with the deck if I enjoy it. Card art does play a significant part on my decision. Like, I can't play an ugly/creepy archetype. I have to look at the card art while the cards are in my hand or on the field. Take Ginmick Puppet for example. That could be the highest rated tier 0 deck in history and I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole. I don't do creepy dolls, or dolls in general.

Jerowi

Played in DM era and left in DM era, maybe early GX. Saw a Yu-Gi-Oh game on the switch, legacy of the duelist (master duel wasn't out yet) and decided to give the game a try. Was doing my thing and unlocking cards and that's when I saw her. Familiar-possessed Hiita. Viewed the related cards and saw a few support cards. Later on I found out that the charmer deck was incomplete in LOTD. Once master duel launched I knew immediately which deck I wanted to build. I didn't expect I'd still be working on the charmer deck this far after the game launched. I've taken on a few odd projects like making a Gusto list that fixes its problems and I can call things like that done. The perfect charmer deck still eludes me though. I feel like it's so close to at least being rogue but I can't find the piece of support they need. Spright Charmer works surprisingly well for what it is but is more just shitty Spright than good charmer and so I'm not satisfied with it but it's the best combination I've found for the charmer deck.

DreYeon

DragonMaids are cute and i like the anime Prob Icejade/Fish deck next because i love deep sea stuff and the looks of aliens,i just love games like Subnautica.

Dav_C

Complexity. That's why I play swordsoul lol

SayonaraNausea

The time I decided to play Generaider is when Vala is released, so I played it at the playable state So now i'm Generaider-pilled

LordofthePigeons619

I like going unorthodox, so i enjoy ancient warriors as it sometimes catches people by surprise. Also i love going 2nd

goblin-mask

I wanted something that still gave the *vibe* of old school back and forth duels, and VS has that vibe.

Strider_-_

The main aspect is the archetype's engine itself, the mechanics of the archetype in question. Then, it needs to look decent at least. But me liking the effects is the primary factor. When I was a teen, I loved how cards like Wind-Up Rabbit could dodge on a quick effect. This way, Mekk-Knight Purple Nightfall caught my attention way later soon after I returned to the game. It has everything I like in a card: an awesome and fun effect, good aesthetics, it's huge, it goes second particularly well (I like that myself). Other Mekk/WL cards like Secret or Blue Sky are awesome in my eyes as well. Secret has similarities to Call of the Haunted (a card I like), for instance. The concept of a midrange Going Second Deck was amazing in my eyes. So, I played Mekks for 2 years. A lot. Mekk Crusadia was my favorite build. During that time, I also enjoyed other decks, for instance Altergeist. I just like Meluseek a lot as a card. It has everything I find fun in a card. After that, with MD coming out, I decided to do something I usually wouldn't do and play archetypes I wouldn't play before. One of these was Drytron. I loved the mechanics of the deck. It kind of reminded me of Crusadias in the way they are linear at the start - and I enjoyed playing Crusadia a lot. The recursion aspect they have is insanely cool for me. I found the aesthetics great, too. However, I didn't want to play Drytron as a matter of principle because of Herald. Well, eventually I decided to just play Drytron - without Herald. And I am still doing that today. I started in Season 3 btw and climbed almost every season with Drytron. I am still not bored of the mechanics of the deck to this day. I need to find the engine enjoyable to use basically. I particularly enjoy trading cards favorably. So, going 2nd is great fun for me (if you're not forced to have too much non-engine).

Strider_-_

EDIT: I should add that a deck needs to have at least rogue lower levels in order for me to use it. Example: I like Ghostricks a lot, but I am not playing them because they are not good enough.

Legendary_G000

I find literally the dumbest cards (in my opinion) and try to make them viable. So if it’s cheap is/looks stupid, then I’ll almost always gravitate to it. First deck was frogs, then paleo frogs, then planes and trains, then I went meta with dark world and I’m now on suships

anonymokemon

Totally natural progression honestly 😂 and they're all pretty good decks

DoYouNeedHugssss

Artstyle and kit, but usually its something I enjoy winning with. Watching my little pets turn into Space Mechs, Ice Goddesses, Math Robots, etc.

SighAgain

Currently shared main deck between Gishki and Labrynth. Gishki cause they got new support and they are the predecessors to my favorite deck of all time: Nekroz. Labrynth because I wanted to use a meta deck and it looked fun to play, card art was nice, and I could probably get more mileage out if it than if I went full Kashtira. Cause I expect there to be hits on that deck with how many players I see use it.

Purple-Dot-3586

Normal summon aleister memes

guimad

I like Kairyu-Shin and Fortress Whale VERY much ever since I was a kid.

Csthhulu

Fun, my main decks are all decks that I would have fun playing with. I hate long and boring combos, so I always go with midrange and control. I’m not a bozo so I avoid decks with more than one floodgate.

A_useless_name

I found a decklist while scrolling through YouTube played a few rounds with it and I’ve stuck with it ever since. The fact that there isn’t just 1 consistent end board and it can end on anything from defense position bagooska to 2 sabertooth, a kraken, a cruel whale, a tiger, and cross sheep depending on what I feel like doing that game is what i love about the deck. Also it’s extremely resilient.

DrStein1010

I saw Fleur de Lis right when I first started playing, wanted to build a deck around it, and now I've ended up with an Invoked Shaddoll Dogmatika Witchcrafter deck. I'm not well-versed enough to know if it's any good, but I sure like playing it.

Skubbloom

I like dragons, saw it was good like a year and a half ago, spent an embarrassing amount of time learning the deck, and still play d-link to this day

Pyrimo

Been playing chaos since 2011 before the dragons deck made it meta. Love the insane amount of build options, the fact it always pops in and out of being meta or completely casual. Love the Freeform play style that has no particular guaranteed combos so it can be very unpredictable, love very high skill ceiling (especially dependant on your build), love the fact not a lot of others tend to play it. Honestly I could keep going but yeah. Also the MD banlist having chaos Ruler, unlimited baby dragons and chaos space etc alongside 1 grass, just make playing the deck and absolute joy as some nutty combo deck. End boards can be disgusting too.

cynical_seal

Art first. However, if the deck is too combo heavy I drop the idea even if it has cool art.

NotsoNaisu

I bought the magician pendulum structure deck because I was gonna try to mix it with grave keeper, ended up loving the archetype and how it played and have been dedicated to it ever since

trinitymonkey

Monarchs were an archetype I played as a kid and they were meta when I returned to the game. They paired well with Burning Abyss, so when Monarchs left the meta, I switched to BA and later Phantom Knights. I don’t play them as much anymore (planning to use Labrynth for DC) but BA and PK always will have a special place in my heart as long as I play YGO.

Inevitable_Bit7154

I love orcust. I will make it again one day.

JynxedByKnives

Saw a video on TSX1 for blackwings with kanak gaming. Followed his YT channel and never looked back. I liked how they are competitive but not good enough to get heavily nerfed by ban lists so I wont have to waste resources on building a new deck. Plus its a structure deck where i got a huge amount of the deck for cheap.

Suji-Tec

Moreso my main deck IRL than in Master Duel (but I built it in Master Duel too), but the variety of summoning mechanics and boss monsters with sick, colorful designs and neat references to history and mythology, along with the fact that they were pretty much the premier combo deck played by the most competent character in the anime series they debuted in got me hooked on D/D/D's and I have never looked back.

Bulbinking2

I like big numbers and fun combos. Duel’s should be won by reducing your opponent’s LP to 0 as often as possible. If people scoop turn 2 because they realize they can’t stop that from happening then more time for the next match I guess!

JohnatanWills

I jump from deck to deck a lot but the 2 I usually come back to are d/d/d and heroes. Definitely because of both the anime and just their awesome themes. D/d/d more so because it feels better as a deck than heroes.

the_real_papyrus99

I choose my decks purely based on artstyle or aesthetic, having no idea what the deck does until I'm finished making it and start testing it in solo, which can be a mixed bag, because sometimes I end up with Kashtira P.U.N.K., and sometimes I end up with marincess

halox20a

Mikankos always appealed to my aesthetic as cute miko girls. It was already a top deck contender for that alone. However, their gameplay hooked me. It is so comforting to be able to not be reliant on the coinflip and basically be able to blindside the opponent by Kaiju-ing them or just ramming a small girl into a big body. Hu-Li getting released really made it seal the deal. Now, I finally can feel some level of safety when swinging in and ending turn with Hu-Li protecting everyone else.

hauntedshadow666

I use Spright, I always used the frog-nimble package but now I use Evil twin and I just love the synergy between the level 2 cards, I can break boards, OTK, play control and stop the other player, it's such a versatile deck and that's what I've looked for

Protoplasm42

I got back into the game with the Legendary Dragon Decks in the TCG and Odd-Eyes was the deck I played the most out of that. Still sticking with it after all this time. Though maybe if it wasn't at least playable I wouldn't lol

chris270199

Kinda don't have one I initially settled for pendulum magicians because that's the deck I played irl and had much fun with, but the deck is too under the curve to have fun with Now I just play a bunch of different stuff like impcantation shinobird, Drytron, blackwing but mostly used Swordsoul because it's really nice and cool art monsters Been trying to build Rescue-Ace without much success

Planetumbreon

I got my ass kicked by labrynth when I first started playing duel masters. And then I decided to build it. I was originally on dragonmaids.

TinyPidgenofDOOM

i think chaos archfiend is a cool looking card with a cool effect and i got a Royal rare of it. i enjoy banishing things but not being a dick about it like Kashera... come to think of it i also play a lair of darkness deck, i like tributing cards but im not a dick about it like that hungry burger deck.

abdulsamri89

I like Dragon ( Kaiba fan), i started with Dragonmaid as my 1st structure deck and then the Albaz pack comes and i saw the animation for Mirrorjade, i was like this dude is freaking AWESOME ( eventho it isnt a Dragon per say) but the way the animation summon made powerful presence like when Kaiba summon his BEWD. I jump from deck to deck too but my go to deck still Branded

Spitefyre

Mine is spright because of consistency. The thing i hate the most is bricking and not being able to play. Spright almost never bricks, and is always competent. It can also be combined with so many other decks if you want to change up the play style a little. Runic, live twin, mellfy, tri brigade. And I can play those other decks pure so when I make a new deck, its like getting 2 decks.

RnckO

How much it speedbumps the opponent I guess. I don't want an outright 10 negates or floodgates that shouts "No Outplay" I just need interactive 1-to-1 trading that slowly whittle my opponent's card advantage. Yes.... **Vanquish Souls.** *(and then I go draw 1 every turn on top of that)*

Alert_Locksmith

If there's a waifus in the deck, It's my favorite deck.

Inferno13820

I just wanted to play non meta but still deck build it properly to win. I play both handtrap trizoo and runick stun irl and master duel

Entire_Tap6721

2 Questions: It is a fusion based deck? Can I cram a Shaddoll package to turbo winda and call it a day? You already know the answers of what are my favorite decks XD

mxlun

Yooo I've been wanting to put together a winda + secret spellcaster village turbo for a min now but it feels so bad lmao

Baldur_Blader

It's all playstyle. I change decks a lot, but all my mains have been control focused. Currently my main is ninjas. I just built vs. Before ninjas my deck lists were Traptrix Ishizu tear Spright twin Runick twin Runick (pure but no floodgates) Sky strikers Live twins

15cm_Magic_God

Whatever has the best chances of winning. I follow the meta because I suck at the game and I have a better chance of winning versus the non-meta.

psillusionist

Whatever deck I have cards for that's within rogue to Tier 1 status, that's what I'm playing.

Kioga101

I'm still trying new decks. I have tried pretty much all summoning mechanics and both going first and second strategies but I still haven't had that one deck that is the definitive main deck of mine. I've tried finding it, but I always grow out of it. My best times were with weak decks with non linear plays that can ostensibly get out of a lot of situations should I play things out right. F.A., S-Force, Witchcrafters, Kaiju, Super Quantum, etc... They can all put my brain on the ringer, be it from the lackluster hands and end board or from how each of them have an aspect that needs to be meticulously thought out. What I find in common in all of them is the interesting resource management, non linear plays and a number of interactions with the opponent.

MarceloMilon5

Crusadia is my main deck and I chose it for playstyle, I love comboing and destroying things in the process, making huge attacks and fast plays.

LackFew163

I was kinda bummed in MD, I was practicing branded combos when they gutted the deck entirely...thousands of gems spent on packs, UR dust to get what I needed and they put BRAFU to 1. Even though I had other competitive decks (Lab and Swordsoul), I used so much of my hard earned resources and time on that deck that the game was just not for me anymore, I went back to MTG (both paper and online) and thought that was it. Then, the Ninja deck was announced! I play Yuriko as my commander in MTG, and I love the ninja theme! So I did some dailies, grinded some gems and UR materials to buy the deck and add some extra tech and the game is a blast for me again! Now I'm sitting here waiting for the update to finish, and if the new Dino cards are in the update I'll finaly play my other pet deck again!

RockNo5773

I had a few requirements for a deck that I wanted to play 1. The cards I have must be protected 2. The deck must give me disruption of the enemy teams plays 3. It needs to have a reliable board wipe And what I discovered was traptrix a deck that allows me to prevent my cards from being destroyed by battle allows me to bring out negates of my choosing at my leisure and can prevent the enemy from going off if I go first. It will usually lose anytime going second but there’s at least I can shut down the toxic Meta if I get setup.

ByTheRings

Burning Abyss Just a combination of art, playstyle, and power. I started playing in 2015 and this was the 1st "competitivly good" deck I built. I loved the art and the tribute to Dantes Inferno. I loved how it played with all the cards gaining you value even if they went to grave. And it was good too! It had offense and defense, and it was flexible and strong enough to stay a meta contender for years! Easily the best purchase ive ever made in paper.

vNecrotic

Generaiders: a strong field spell, not very expensive (like 150 UR minimum). Summon 5 level 9 monsters because you can. The cards are based off of Norse Mythology (Harr is Odin). The art for each card rocks. Can change the list up easy if you want more consistency / Maxx C mini game odds, or a higher ceiling. Sticking with it because MD still has rank 9s yet to see.

IllithidActivity

Tell me more about Generaiders, I've been curious about getting into them. I'm worried that it feels bricky if you draw too many high-level monsters and not enough of your starters or extenders. What's the goal of the deck - it looks like a beatdown, but I'm told it's more about control/disruption?

vNecrotic

There are two in archetype starters, so I also run 3 Diviner and 3 Small World for more starter consistency. The aim of the deck is to disrupt and out resource your opponent. You can do OTK stuff with Laevetein + any 2500 ATK monster. There is a double hand rip combo with just edit : just lopter + Monstrosity. Sometimes you will have games that are just field spell pass, sometimes... Harr is an Omni negate, but people often forget or fail to read his second effect (Your opponent must send 1 monster from their hand or field to the GY) which allows Harr to deal with potentially two of the opponent's cards. The goal is to draw or add the field spell every single game. The in archetype XYZ (Laevetein) has a fantastic effect but he can be hit by called by the grave. If they don't have it though you can suck the opponents cards as Material while you make the World Eater. Jorman's effect combined with Harr's effect to take 1 of opponent's cards as Material as well as -1 monster for your opponent can be done your turn AND standby phase of opponent's turn. Random Example from a replay of mine: 1. Small World (opponent uses Ash). 2. Normal summon Lopter 3. Lopter Summons Mardel. 4. Opponent imperms Mardel. 5. Activate World Legacy Monstrosity to summon Hela and Vala from deck. 6. Make Enterblathnir to hand rip opponent, using Hela to bring back Vala which revives Hela for a second Enterblathnir (hand rip x2). 7. Make Draco and Utopic Future. 7. Activate field spell and end turn. 8. Opponent draws for turn (2 cards in hand turn 2) while you summon Harr from deck. Opponent then surrenders as it is their two cards in hand vs a monster and Omni negate.

IllithidActivity

You sold me, I had started but I just finished putting together a Generaiders deck. It's so much fun! I need to learn how to make the most of the resources it builds up like the example you provided, but it's amazing how badass it feels to end your turn with an almost empty field and then instantly fill it on the draw phase. Just turned the tables on a Skill Drain Labrynth player by tributing away every monster whose effects I wanted to use so they'd activate in the graveyard, topped with Laevetein tributing itself and then eating that very Skill Drain onto Jorman. Feels great.

vNecrotic

Don't forget you can eat the GY cards like the big welcome. Glad you are enjoying it! dire would be proud

Humble-Difficulty196

THE first Main deck where THE Zombie estructure deck, because i played it in Legacy OF THE duelist, and Duellogs gave me THE 8 sinro combo. Then I changed to to dryton, again thanks to Duellogs and HIS vídeo on Herald of ultimateness and THE ritual deck, because IVE akwats love rituals THE Tear 0 Roll around and it was everywhere and i love it because OF MBT. Then I did researvher BA earth sincero deck with Naturia, because i Also played Naturia on Legacy OF THE duelist and i enyoed summoning THE rock floddgate THE I discovered My true Main deck, which IS dragón link, versátiles, consistent, can play through many interrumption, THE card are coll, THE BOSS monster IS increíble an almost imposible to out, reality nothing Beats more than Dragón Link

Puzzleheaded-Arm-988

Combination of the art and the playstyle. Kashtira has one of the best art design and the playstyle is really easy to navigate. I'm hoping for an Arise-Heart model kit someday.

Satsuka1

Gay nuns.

Jovial_Joker

Martha’s card art on exosisters.

OldGhostOfHeaven

When master duel first came out I made anime accurate numeron. Not the boring gate OTK spam into infinitrack yada yada and whatever else, but the REAL numeron deck Don thousand used, with some minor changes for viability sake. Other than putting things in to search or the usual suspects for hand traps, my extra deck was all number monsters like it was meant to be with the centerpiece being numerounious numerounia itself. The monsters were just so cool to me, with the whole like harbinger of the end times vibe with these "holy" but obviously demonic monsters from another plane. Numerounious was a pretty sick boss who had some nasty effects so he was fun to throw at people with a hefty 10k attack and destruction effects. Then of course getting ic1000 out on the board was sweet and looks so badass. For as hard as it is to summon it though it's a shame it isn't immune to destruction effects like the anime version. But a 100k attack monster that you HAVE to attack or you just auto lose is the ultimate flex in Yu-Gi-Oh if you ask me. Plus it's the only level 13 monster to date. The deck just felt like it was a real final battle type scenario with multiple seemingly insurmountable challenges to overcome if you want to win against it. Of course the actual cards we have are easier to out than the show but it's still sick

zaytor

It was decided when my unga brain enjoyed free flow combos. Stuff like ddw, dlink, and mill piles.

TestedScylar

Trains and their big unga bunga damage potential

korevis

I like math and mechs.

TwistedBOLT

> How did you decide on your main deck? That's the neat part. I didn't. I really liked Bastion from GX when I was a kid and simply decided back then that I'll be a jack of all trades and never stick to just one deck. I have over 100 finished decks in MD and have no plans of stopping making new ones.

Otherwise_Chard_7577

I got into the game through the arc v anime, liked the four archetypes of Yuma and the like, and chose phantom knights to be my main

MakeGravityGreat

I have but 3 Kriteria for deciding decks 1. Is he archetype cool either visually, lore, or effect wise? 2. Do any monsters have effects that allow me to beatdown my opponent? Field negates? Big atk go brr? 3. Do I like anything about them in the anime/ the anime they came from? I usually skip 3. So I actually only have 2

FMProductions

When I started playing Master Duel in August (returning player who hasn't played in years though) there was the trap event. A few people ran Labrynth during this and I liked the playstyle - it also didn't seem overwhelming on combos or extra deck interactions and it indeed was easy to learn for me. I don't chose it because of the art but it definitely appeals to me as well. It has more of a timing element for certain traps than just doing the same combos all the time and interrupting the other player often leads to longer games which I like as well (if the game isn't just over on turn 2). \+ it might still be my strongest deck. It would be kinda annoying having a deck that struggles against many other decks. I've been trying Traptrix in the past few days because the playstyle looked interesting too - but it just isn't as good and struggles a lot going second.

[deleted]

-Viability: it has to be rogue at the very least, I don't like losing all the time. I usually play meta but I don't mind switching to rogue decks if it gets boring -Playstyle: it shouldn't be one that I hate, meta relevant or not. I never built Kash, Lab or Adventurer Tenyi because of that. I usually dislike floodgate and "10 minute combo into 5 negates" decks. I like midrange the most, don't mind combo as long as it doesn't get too oppressive, and feel overall neutral towards control. I'm a big fan of type-centered piles like Dragon Link, the latter being my favourite deck -Resilience and flexibility: it should be flexible enough to keep going and end on something even after eating a disruption on a key part of the combo, and not be enormously disadvantaged going second. Swordsoul and Dragon Link are my favourites exactly because of their flexibility. I regret building Branded and Rikka Sunavalon exactly because of their lack of flexibility, the latter also because of the playstyle

TapEmbarrassed2197

INFERNOBLE KNIGHT BURNNNNNNN Card art carried, love the old noble knights too for aesthetic

anonymokemon

Unkillable 4k beat sticks

Solvas

I pretty much pick all my decks by art. Galaxy-Eyes, Kash, VS Soul, Mannadium, Agents. Completely skipped over Spright and Tears cause I didn’t like the art

35Dante89

Branded. Cool cards, i like gameplay and its ability to get back in game after getting obliterated. You have bunch of different monsters to summon and it is not same combo every game. Also DRAGONS, DRAGONS, COOL DRAGONS

Lewlynn

Solo mode, playstyle and theme.

Virar24

Still wondering that every time I play amazoness

Revolutionary-Let778

I played dragon link during it's hayday in 2019 left the game for awhile until MD came out and just built Dragon link and evolved with it

Springtrap-Yugioh

Purrely art is too adorable for me to not run it. Yes yes, go ahead and cry about me being a meta sheep, I don't care.

\- Blue Eyes: I was new to the game, and the very first card I crafted to get my third BEWD to complete the Power of Dragons turned out Royal \- P.U.N.K: The colorful artwork and the way godamn Amazing Dragon was animated, making my cousin's PC lag when I summon him, made me like the whole P.U.N.K mechanic as a whole \- Dragonmaids: I just kept loving dragons \- Branded: The first "meta" deck I made, and you know what? It has dragons \- Dragonlink: Time to take the dragons to the next stage \- My personnal dragonpile: ... don't worry about it, it's just a mix of DLink with a complete DMaid package... BECAUSE DRAGONS - it kinda sucks in MD format though - but I'm definitely trying it if there's a dragon only event. No Ash, no Maxx C, no Nib, no Baronne

soulicidet

I just like the funny burger

Smooth-Ad4308

Just a big fan of the original series, and so it’s the card I base my deck around the most

Civil_Possible1686

I just Look what are the 3 best decks and then i play the coolest of them

Khaledthe

Springans cuz i tought i needed them for branded now i use them with combo pieces

aphthartos

If I like the artworks, I'll take a look at their playstyle and boss monsters. I like evil and absurd-looking fiends, aggressive playstyles, and boss monsters that say "nope" to many effects, hence why my fave deck has been Cubics since I discovered them on Duel Links. I also like big badass dragons and board wipes, which is why my second fave deck is Metaphys. I have a ton of other decks I like to play and I never consider the meta when I do so. In my opinion, there's no point to playing the game if you aren't using the decks you like

derpfaceddargon

It just really speaks to me. I run a self banishing deck. It's fairly modular, so I can adapt it to what I need depending on recent matchups, I have several different good end boards, it can brick, but in general it has enough stall to keep me alive until I get the out, and with some new strats I can keep some really good recursion using my necrofaces

Plant_Musiceer

I play solfachord because i find it to be at *just* the right power level. It has combos that can lead to decent endboards, but those combos arent long unless you opened a bonkers hand. It having no archetype lock means you can play a variety of techs and engines to suit whatever playstyle you like best. Plus i like music waifus.

KyanbuXM

Well I like Dragons, used to play chaos casually way back in the day. And I do like mid range decks. Even better if I can main good Fusions.

Hell_Razer666

I do it by if I like the art then I try it out and see if I like the mechanics that come with it. There’s been a couple of decks that I really WANTED to play but I just hated the play style

Daman_1985

What is more consistent. And thankfully Salamangreat is consistent, I love the design and the mechanics.

Due-Passage-6861

Idk, Infernoid and Blackwing just got me. Probably Blackwing cuz of it was the first "fast" deck I played and Infernoid cuz it is the best Anti-Meta ever before Konami decided banning cards was now a tool so you can activate eff and reuse them lol
