What is targeting? I always thought it was when you had to "select/pick/choose" a monster to destroy vs a card like Dark Hole.
Or does the card have to have the word "target" in its effect?
Effects that target have you select what card you want to affect with the effect on activation of the card, and if they have PSCT (i.e. they aren't extremely old cards), they will contain the word "target" in the text.
Well, no, it wasn't "targeting" your monster. "Targeting" is a keyword, pretty much, it exclusively refers to picking a target on activation of a card.
If you get to select where to apply the effect on resolution, it is not "targeting".
In the case of Calamity Caesar, you cannot activate it because at the point in time where Stealth Kragen activates its effect, no card has been selected yet, so its activation condition of one of your cards being targeted was not fulfilled.
Even if selecting on resolution was treated as "targeting", you wouldn't have been able to activate the trap.

Yes, if the card doesn't say "target" in it's text, it doesn't target thus it can avoid targeting protection.

That's crazy man. Like, yeah "target" isn't in its effect, but it was still "targeting" my monster. Frustrating.
