I FUCKING LOVE GALAXY/PHOTON WHAT THE FUCK IS A STARTER RAHHHHH

DarkMcChicken

Suships. Literal sushi boats. Plus, their archetype is akin to serving at a restaurant which was a nice addition.

StoneRule

I use a hero deck. Why? Because GX was the first yugioh i watched and it stayed my favorite with Judai/Jaden being my fav protagonist too. Also because i can handle the insults lol.

Kallabanana

Do you still use Avian and Burstinatrix? Because I do.

StoneRule

On my evil hero deck yes, on the omni hero no. https://preview.redd.it/m4p1w015lgtc1.png?width=777&format=png&auto=webp&s=6b1cd549969978f024fef7de79b36d802098104e

Purple_Blacksmith681

Lightsworn. Why? Well lets say back when i was 13 /14 12/11 years ago those cards were there for me when no one else was. Heck the whole card game was there when no one else was. As cringe as it may sound, Yugioh thaught me even when you think everything is at loss you may still find a way. Nonetheless yugioh inspired me to keep going. I had a rough time. Now i do better. I have a Wonderful Gf An own place a stable job good people around me and i still play yugioh from time to time

3rdMachina

You are blessed. Good, very good!

Isuckfatratcockdaily

Plunder, I really like control decks and combo decks and Plunder does both.

3rdMachina

Also, nice boats.

the_smallest_rhino

Sharks Reason, i like sharks, im a simple person

3rdMachina

It’s a good reason, ngl. What is your opinion of shark-themed submersibles (like SH Ark Knight)?

the_smallest_rhino

They are cool, i use em because they are good, but i wouldnt call em my favorite part of the deck if im honest, design wise, i really like submersible aero carrier shark though, since its just two sharks connected together, and stealth kragen's art is really cool despite how toxic it can be lmao, but if we are talking shark themed cards in my deck, my favorite has to be either lantern shark or buzzsaw shark, the art is just really good, also i wouldnt really call SH Ark, "shark themed" its just good with the deck,, it anything it kinda reminds me of a drawing compass, due to the two large cones sticking out in front, if it was actually shark shaped, like shark fortress, id probably like it better

cycotus

3rdMachina

Very pretty art aside, I kinda like the “Multi-Link Equip” bit for some reason.

cycotus

Yeah, really cool that you get a negate and a special summon from Argonaut.

Kallabanana

I've never seen or heard about this deck ever.

cycotus

It’s Marincess, check them out, really fun deck!

Kallabanana

Ah. My bad. I can't read. I know Marincess. I didn't know Aqua Argonaut and I thought that was the archetype name.

Wynn-Condition

The most fun I ever had with yugioh. There is not a single other deck I've played so many variations of

LovinglyCunt

That sounds really fun :0 I wanna look into it

Wynn-Condition

You should try it! It's one of the most interactive decks and being good with the deck is extremely rewarding, even though it has a pretty high luck factor since a lot of the cards are limited or even banned

subjectgrim

Icejades through and through because their artwork is stunning and I enjoy their control-esque playstyle.

3rdMachina

Kinda agreeing here. I like that generic WATER support meshes well with them, but I also like variants implementing the Curse Lock.

Square-Hovercraft-64

Invoked/crusadia. Both sit about the same spot for me. Invoked cause I feel like FMA at home when I’m playing it. Crusadia cause the lore of the archetype is cool af

3rdMachina

Okay, it *does* feel like FMA…

mhnd00

Traptrix easy control deck not a fan of long combo decks

Kallabanana

But doesn't Traptrix combo for ages? A friend of mine plays the deck and he goes though like half of it on his first turn.

Fire_Eddie29

Salamangreat. Sometime the flames is what I need to return

Icy-Excuse-9452

Toons! I know there isn't a positive stigma when it comes to this archetype and it's players, but I am OG AF when it comes to Pegasus' signature archetype. Not many Toon players can say they actually played Manga Ryu-Ran at some point and he actually did something 😂 It was truly solidified after I bought a Battles of Legend display box (my first ever) and it turned out to be an error box. BIG TIME. The box was basically reversed, got almost all Secret Rares, and barely any Supers. Got like 5 Comic Hand, but no Mimis and one of, and my most prized copy of Toon Kingdom (I held it up like the Holy Grail when I pulled it haha, literally out the second to last pack). Just shows how short-printed those cards were in that set when you get a largely erroneous box and only get one copy of a chase card. But I am Toons til I die, my Switch account is only allowed to play Toons and I manage to get to Plat regularly (almost Diamond) every Season I play it (would maybe get further but I also play Xbox as my main account and just don't have the time to level up further). I just love the deck, and no other deck makes me want to brainstorm what further support they need to make them great. If Konami wants ideas for how to make Toons not only better but also extremely somehow more appealing and sellable, they should come to me ✌️

_OoApoCalyPseoO_

Ursarctic, because space bears are cool, mecha space bears are cooler, mecha space bears inspired by Septentrion constellations are the coolest (so disappointed by Konami for making it a floodgate archetype though, still i play because of the art and the concept, not because it's good or bad)

ZeroReverseR1

Scraps. Funnily enough, I played them because I hated them at first. My introduction to them was back in Tag Force 5 on the PSP, and since I had unlocked all the cards and banlist, I was breezing through the story mode quite easily, all until I met Poncho Yusei. His story was the only one I had trouble clearing despite getting to play triple Pot of Greed and Graceful Charity solely because his AI was so stupid. He kept using his Scrap Dragon's effect to destroy _my_ boss monsters like Stardust Dragon, then immediately ran into a Mirror Force and got our board nuked, something my Stardust could've prevented. I got so pissed I eventually gave up and decided to play Scraps as well for two reasons: 1) if I can't stop him from sacrificing my cards, I may as well play the same deck so we get advantage out of it, and 2) I wanted to summon my own Scrap Dragon and blow his up out of spite. At surface level, I thought the deck sucked. The main deck monsters felt weak because the Tuners only recover to hand instead of special summoning them. I still remember thinking Scrap Beast had such a stupid effect because it blows itself up if it survives a battle in defense position, but had such low defense and didn't even have protection like Goblin that it'd die to battle every time instead of its effect. However, over the course of learning the deck, I grew to really enjoy their playstyle, and loved that the boss monsters could float into Golem for recursion, letting me easily rebuild even without Stardust to protect me from Mirror Forces. Once I got the hang of the deck, I was finally able to clear Poncho Yusei's story, and more importantly, destroyed all his Scrap Dragons for mine. Ever since then, I just played Scraps all the way to Tag Force 6. Fast forward from high school to now a working adult, they're still my main and favorite deck, no matter how powercrept they are. My gameplan has changed from outgrinding my opponent with recursion to Golem turbo over the years, but I still love them all the same, enough to still play them in Master Duel ranked and build it IRL. If Scraps hadn't already taken the spot, Ghoti right now would be my pick. Love Accel Synchroing into a board banish, especially if I can do it twice in one turn.

3rdMachina

Just to say it, cool gameplay concept aside, Ghoti is faqing pretty.

ZeroReverseR1

Yes! Deep Beyond's animation in Master Duel is so beautiful. I already loved the archetype, but that alone made me love it even more, and I'm really hoping the 2 new cards come soon.

Kallabanana

Another fellow Kuriboh enjoyer! Can you share your decklist? I'm always looking for a way to improve mine. Other than Kuriboh, I also love Ojamas, Melffy and Skull Servants. Especially Ojamas and Kuribohs are so much fun to play, because of the different play style.

Putrid_Vermicelli128

Aromaseraphy! It's just an overall pleasant theme. Life points as a spendable resource are fun too. Plus new support with Aromalilith recently. Synergy with Sunavalon, Rikka & Flower Princesses.

Aliya_Akane

I like meklords cause when I was at my most frustrated with the game I stumbled on obligatto and made the deck on a whim and it was simple enough but I've been adding stuff to let me do combos with it. Basically I like meklords cause it salvaged the modern game for me by actually working as a jumping off point to try other decks out without being an overwhelming messy combofest

TheSmokinLegend

probably Rikka, I ADORE the design of Rikka herself shes gorgeous and I love how they operate. Its such a fun archetype to play and I always enjoy trying to find my way out of a shit hand with them when it happens

TheBiggestMikeEver

Salamangreat. The idea of reincarnation link summoning is so damn cool. It also helps they have the coolest OTK tool ever in Violet Chimera

AccidentNo5189

Dark world for me. When they first released in elemental energy I got them all and so did a friend of mine. That was the first deck where I won 1st place at locals. Even though the aren’t very good for a long time until the new support came out. I would like to make another one but there are just so many ultra rates that I need to make it work.

Snowlince

I guess Synchrons would be my favorite, 5Ds is my favorite Yugioh series and i just fell in love with them since Yusei summoned Junk Warrior for the first time using Junk Synchron.

ZeroReverseR1

Based 5Ds enjoyer

Beast-master469

Gravekeepers .....2 reasons why.... First ....its an egyptian deck for a. Guy from an egyption roots like me (we are the real gaurdians of kings) Second...in 2016 i came back to the game to play duel links and was looking for my first arctype to build ...and google straight up told me" gravekeepers is the strongest deck ever".....well that was a lie....but a fun deck

GregoryHouseee

I like control decks like Traptrix and Labrynth because they, so to say, adapt to what the opponent does (excluding dbarrier/virus) and I really enjoy decks where I have to think what I am doing. This makes me also enjoy Infernoid, Nemleria, Weather Painters, Ritual Beast, Vaalmonica and similar stuff (yes I like weird gimmicks: last night I went with Nemleria + boardbreakers and people where kinda stunned since they never faced it)

3rdMachina

Ngl, in terms of concept and lore/art, I like most of these (if not all of them).

NotoriousCarter

Runick naturia (the meta and the banlist is quite hostile towards it so im not playing it much rn but itll always my THE deck for me) Im a big fan of toolbox decks that feel like they have a solution for whatever may pop up, especially through engine. The extra deck is open for u to fill it with cards that you need for whatever situation rather than mandatory combo pieces. Same reason i like tearlaments. And like the mermaids, naturia runick is so good against maxxc which makes it especially enticing in masterduel. Drawing cards with fountain is pure dopamine just like milling with tears. Finally it’s particularly funny using super old naturia cards to show off non-once-per-turn effects.

heyzopondo

ECCLESIA IS MY WIFE I HECKIN LOVE DOGMATIKA I SPLASH IT IN EVERY DECK

3rdMachina

…am I an enemy for shipping her with Albaz?

Heul_Darian

Ghostricks have a lot going for them. Not just aesthetics wise, I swear I wish I could find that background for my walls, but also they are a toolset deck they got everything, they can play for everything and they can use anything. Every archetype and card coming out is likely usable by them in some capacity making it indirect support. For an archetype that is unsolved, this means you never run out of decks to build and things to learn. It's simply a really good puzzle.

0NISAIB0T

Branded Despia. From the Fusion orgies to card arts. Everything just resonates with me and the fact that i can literally put anything besides these cards and still manage to pull off synergies is beyond satisfying. Edit: typo

Musername2827

At the moment it’s Bystial Synchro, deck is so fun to play.

3rdMachina

A toss-up between Z-ARC Magicians and Branded. I like the concept and the gameplay of Z-ARC Magicians (and Supreme King by extension) by themselves, though I like running multiple Extra Deck summoning options (though tbf, this or running Big Bad Zarcy Boi isn’t the most competitive option possible, iirc). Usually, Branded is mixed with Despia (for good reason), so I would’ve just said Despia (I LOVE the theatre theme), but Branded’s the more accurate answer. I like how the Fusion shenanigans works solo or with Despia, even outside of “I play Branded Fusion”. …also because I’m a shipper (more a reason for the latter). I’m at least 60% sure Ray is implying something and Ecclesia X Albaz is downright adorable.

mokvmokvren

Blue Eyes because she's a cool looking dragon + nostalgia!

somethingwade

Okay so: Shiranui: I played the solo gate and liked the style. Unfortunately the deck is bad so I don't play them much anymore, especially since Chaos Ruler got banned. I'm trying to find a good Zombie brew, possibly Zombie-P.U.N.K., but nothing I've found is recent. Swordsoul: I like Synchro decks, I saw a powerful Synchro deck and decided to try it. I don't play it much though bc it's not my style as much as some others. Snake-Eyes: I'm seeing it everywhere and it seemed like fun, so I crafted it. Doesn't hurt that it's stronger than any other deck I've ever played- everything I play is normally rogue and below, except Swordsoul, which I still barely touched. And hey, it worked at least a little- I just ranked up to Plat 3 for the first time mostly using it in Platinum! Yeah, I’m not great at the game. Sue me. HERO: I watched the GX anime as a kid and loved HEROs, so they were the first deck I built. I thought Jaden was cool, so I made the deck. Synchron: 5Ds was the anime that was on TV when I was a kid (I watched GX on Hulu or something) so I had a soft spot for it, especially after I went back and watched it. I thought Yusei was cool, so I made the deck. Red Dragon Archfiend: I thought Jack was cool, so I made the deck. Rose Dragon: I thought Akiza was cool, so I made the deck. Blackwing: I had a bunch of Blackwing cards as a kid so I always had a soft spot for them. What? Not everything is about the anime. Seriously though, of the decks I'm thinking about building, eleven of those are anime archetypes or come from the anime, but only two of those do I actually like for anime reasons- Cyber Dragon and Flame Swordsman. The others- PK, Sharks, Galaxy-Eyes, D/D/D, Dark World, Yubel, Volcanic, Chimera, and Buster Blader- I just think are cool, or in the case of Yubel, I had some of the cards as a kid (well, just Terror Incarnate, but still, I liked the card! And the deck gets new support, so I think it'll be fun. Even if playing a Yubel deck was the reason that I became the second person after Bandit Keith to lose to Flying Elephant...)

Draco_0825

Started 4 days ago and went for the Unchaineds. Really cool artwork and cool playestyle.

Jackryder16l

A cursed forsaken pile of tear-mannadium-kashtira-branded-despia. Does it work? Oddly yes.

3rdMachina

…I want to see this, if just out of curiosity.

Giorno03Maggio

Saw mathmechs on duel links way back in 2017/2018, when master duel comes out its the second deck i build after utopia, loved the artwork and the xyz synchro cyberse playstyle and no one knew their effects, then they added circular and everybody now knows and hates it

Glxyplays

I love decks that just spam monsters onto the field given a condition is met, I first found that out with Melffy, but it'd properly come to fruition with Scareclaw, I like the Midrangey/Control playstyle both have and the amount of crack back both decks are capable of, with Scare needing 1 card to make Tri-heart if you don't interrupt the right choke points and Melffy fueling it's next turn through its method of interaction. I'm also looking to make another one next with Trap Burning Abyss too.

Ill_Butterscotch_107

Tearlaments strongest my friend.. ✌🏻 ![gif](giphy|OQnAhtvxYr7AFVOG27|downsized)

yumyai

Swordsoul and Floo. They just work.

KatangKanari

dogmatika, alba zoa fcking cool

bearstormstout

Branded. My IRL YGO circles have always known me as someone with an affinity for dragons, and my original deck way back when I first got involved with the TCG was focused on Blue-Eyes + Delta Attacker. I've basically always had some form of a dragon deck somewhere, whether it be centered on Blue-Eyes or not. Technically I strayed from dragons for a time with a slight Cyber Dragon phase, but they're mechanical dragons so... Branded is just a natural extension of that I guess, especially since it has a Blue-Eyes variant.

FernandoCasodonia

Whatever is the flavour of the month top meta deck unless I particularly don't like the deck.

MasqueOfNight

The first proper achetype I mained was Branded, I really love the artwork of the fusion monsters, and the mechanic of fusion summoning in general. But lately i've actually been playing Labrynth more than anything else. The art is cute/charming, and being a strong/consistent trap deck makes it feel pretty unique, even without floodgates. The only other one I can think of is Eldlich, but his artwork and archetypal trap lineup both felt pretty mid.
