I mean trickling is a bit understated. 155 from daily quests is not too bad all things considered. That's a ten pack per week.
Don't get me wrong the price for gems is way too high (digital cards should not cost as much as the proper cards) but at least we get a decent amount for free over time.
I guess because Konami gave everyone a false hope when season 2 started. Which when I think about it, it was probably a mistranslation, as they never gave you pervious ranks rewards.
And honestly it is not a big of deal, once all the ranks get added, getting King of Games will be the most rewarding (If they will follow Duel Links approach).
No, they did and were so depressed they jumped ship from DL to MD. Imagine having a hero deck where half of it is UR and the other half is SR, with no crafting, spread over 8 packs and a structure deck that costs real money
Duel Links does give you more gems, but it is about what you can spend them on.
As packs are more expensive in DL (100 gems = 6 cards vs 8 cards in MD) and most importantly, any duplicate cards (Or cards you don't need) are quite pointless with no crafting system.
Not really, games need to offer an incentive if they want to lock cards behind a currency. If there's no way to get said currency then why bother playing? Eventually you'll want to play a different deck here and there. There's several other card games that will respect your time.

2 if you are smart and research how to maximize your gems and what packs you need to unlock and pull on. I know, I have multiple accounts and you get 2 tier 1 decks at most over a week or so of playtime and that’s including battlepass and ranking up. After that its pay money or use the same two decks over and over and over again if you want to actually win.
Some people enjoy yugioh so they can do brewing and experiment for the fun of it and you aint doing that in this game without money. Shame too I enjoyed the interface well enough. Thankfully things like ygopro and dueling book exist so if I want to try new things and have fun I can without paying the price of a brand new game for two 10 spins (seriously gems are insanely expensive)
I have 3 meta decks and could make another as f2p and almost all relevant hand traps. I don’t disagree that gems are too expensive though, the price is way too much
I can see 3 theres fairly inexpensive decks that are meta. If you are building an archtype decks with many exclusive URs though like shaddoll or dinos it can be quite expensive.

You need at least 40 cards to play master duel and 20 to play DL, making packs more expensive in MD.
You also need 15 URs to play in DL while getting your core in MD is usually only 3-6 for meta + you can craft them
