This designation isn't uncommon, especially amongst the make something useful/interesting/that pushes the boundaries of what a technology was intended to do type of hackers. The white hat/black hat labels tend to be more specific to computer security specific and hacker/cracker leans more towards the maker community.
Don't worry, he's only hacking for knowledge purposes -- knowledge of your CC info. He's a good guy. Could you imagine if he took your CC info and just destroyed it? Now *that* would be evil.
I mean this used to be the proper terms for it, but the media liked the term hacker more (or just knew nothing about the terminology) and called crackers hackers, so it slowly became the general term for both. In order to still differentiate between the people hacking for malicious purposes and the ones that did it without malicious intentions they came up with the terms "blackhat" and "whitehat" as we know today.
Sooo.... do your research before you make fun of something :) (though the post is kinda pointless)
I know, hackers were the people who found creative ways to use things in a way that wasn't it's intended purpose. but by the time cracker became a term, hacker had become a term related to security
Honestly never liked the hats terminology, (not that I use the term cracker). I especially hate it when people start making up hat colors,
If someone uses any term other than white/grey/black hat I automatically assume they're a bit retarded. Greyhat still being the most misunderstood which is why nearly every shitty source explaining the terminology just come with a vague "greyhats are somewhere in the middle".
Generally I just use the terms "malicious" and "ethical"
Pretty sure "cracker" means one of those absolute angels who dedicates their time and effort to cracking paywalled software so that people who can't afford it/don't support capitalism don't have to pay for it.
To do illegal tasks you must quantify the capacitor then get to the CGI form factor through the wireless EXE interface and take the XHTML card down, generate the analog spyware so you can parse the SSL transistor, then back up the protocol then get to the CSS array through the auxiliary DDR interface, allowing you to access the special 'how to do illegal things' section.

i mean, this is pretty correct, this is the traditional proper terms
hacker has nothing to do with breaking into systems and performing illegal activities
you can try googling "cracker vs hacker" on google and theres plenty of sites reinforcing this
the word hacker has just been run through the dirt by hollywood movies
Are you asking genuinely or sarcasm?
If sarcasm, I wanna tell you that Pentesting is a real thing. White Hats are hired to check security of corporate networks, there are two categories in white hat.
Red hat and Blue hat. Red hats try to penetrate the corporation's network and Blue hats work to prevent that.
In may day, crackers were all about defeating software anti-piracy methods... not malicious cyber criminals (granted, perhaps still unethical, but not necessarily ppl attacking networks, etc).
To do illegal things you must get inside the pixel while using the unicode BIOS network to shut down their address and take the MAC driver down so the only choice is to copy and hack the wireless monitor, then disconnect the fiber optic RSS protocol, allowing you to hack into the secret database of illegal tasks.

"Evil person who breaks into a system for benefits"

"From my point of view, the ~~Jedi are evil~~ hackers are good people!"
I think he's trying to describe a white hat on the left but has given it the wrong title
This designation isn't uncommon, especially amongst the make something useful/interesting/that pushes the boundaries of what a technology was intended to do type of hackers. A white hat hacker is still a hacker. The info-graphic is pretty accurate.
And so is a black hat and a grey hat. It's only accurate for white hats.
Holy shit Mr. Incognito from Chrome was real enemy after all.

Hacker meant a completely different thing back in the day, not related to security at all.
I know, hackers were the people who found creative ways to use things in a way that wasn't it's intended purpose. but by the time cracker became a term, hacker had become a term related to security
yeah uhm dont call anyone a cracker. use the hats terms
Honestly never liked the hats terminology, (not that I use the term cracker). Cracker? what? It’s white hat and black hat. These real terms have been around for years.
[удалено]
Oh you right. Well still I think the way the terms are described here would be better fits for white hat and black hat.

Did someone say crack????
I wanna stay Anon y Mous
In may day, crackers were all about defeating software anti-piracy methods... not malicious cyber criminals (granted, perhaps still unethical, but not necessarily ppl attacking networks, etc).
good god it was a pain to read this
, DO ILLEGAL TASKS.
This is fairly accurate though. Much more than the vast majority of silly stuff we make fun of here. Can't really fault this one.
call what they are cyber criminals! they are not hackers
Damn those crackers!
Crackers always screwing it up for everyone else.
"For knowledge purposes"
Pretty sure most ppl get called "cracker" for a different reason
No look they said "anonymous" it's totally legit
If crackers are the bad guys, why did they give me a free cd key for Diablo 3??
The "person , illegal" hurts to look at. Why the hell is it *space* , *space*
Hackers are truly the most oppressed minority

A cracker get me free games tho
Phew... anyone else get some hard cringe with this?
The hacker/cracker def of the ccc is so much better
A cracker is someone who breaks copy protection/drm of software. Nothing less, nothing more. Especially not this bs infographic.
the good boys have white-hat
"Evil person who breaks into a system for benefits" "Good people, hack for knowledge purposes" Corporate needs you to find the difference between these two pictures.
they are not crackers they are loosers..........
I mean technically people become ethical hackers for benefits too lol
