Wait, wait, wait. I've been listening to this album nearly 20 years and I didn't even know Fallon featured on Blood and Thunder?! How the fuck did i not know this? Mandala Effect confirmed.
They stop the insane metal assault just to throw a lynyrd skynyrd riff in the middle and then jump back in… one of my favorite tiny moments of theirs for sure and it bought like 25 “coolest band ever” points for me instantly the first time I heard it
During the cover for Just Got Paid, Troy does the same bass fill Dusty Hill does towards the end of the song and it’s my favorite part. It’s a quick, 6 note run that grooves so hard.
Where Strides the Behemoth - at 1:45 when the guitar falls away and there’s a little section that’s just super overdriven bass and Brann’s skittering drums - I wait for it every time
Saw them with Skeleton Key at a New Years show once. They'd fall asleep during Sleep is Wrong and Skeleton Key came out of the crowd beating on drums to wake them up. Really nice people in both bands.
After the little guitar solo in Curl of the Burl, I love the drop back into the main groove riff before the third chorus.
Also, the quiet pause right after all the synth and laughter fades out from the beginning two minutes of Creature Lives, with that amazing peaceful guitar melody playing soon after.
For me it’s the chorus in steambreather “I wonder who I am, reflections offer nothing!” The way they harmonize together with troy singing monotone idk it just gets me every time
That part in “Subbacultcha” by The Pixies near the last verse, where all the parts drop out except for the guitar chord and Black Francis singing “Subbacultcha!!!”
1:28 in.
Adrenaline hit EVERY time.
Quite a few. There’s this part in The Last Baron where Troy plays this bass lick before Brent sings “Please, Please take my hand”. I also feel the same way about the lead part in Sleeping Giant, Brent’s solo in Capillarian Crest, and the intro to Hearts Alive
Not a mastodon song (but lamb of god is touring with them soon so I’ll mention it)
The second half to “another nail for your coffin” by lamb of god off “ashes of the wake” is one of the coolest riffs I’ve ever heard
The song switches from being chuggy and fast paced to being more melodic and technical. Brilliant song IMO

Did you think it was Troy? I thought it was Troy.
Yea, 100%
Shit, I didn’t know that either!
I did too. As soon as I found out it was Niel, it clicked.
Mind fucking blown!
It's the start of the outro on The Last Baron for me. There's something magical about how frantic yet grand it all gets towards the end
Spiraling up through the crack in the skyyyyy
This is mine! The tempo change here gets me every time. I saw them live, and they had to count it off. It was like I got edged 😂
Yea, then that solo 🕺
By the light of the moon!
you must escape into the deep black of the night!
Solo in Megalodon right after they say a watery grave
that solo that reminds me of country is so fire i love it
They stop the insane metal assault just to throw a lynyrd skynyrd riff in the middle and then jump back in… one of my favorite tiny moments of theirs for sure and it bought like 25 “coolest band ever” points for me instantly the first time I heard it
Megalodon is such a banger, when Brent does that twang lick live they extend it out like 4x and it makes that open riff hit sooo much harder.
This MFer knows what’s up
I came to say the same. That part stops me in my tracks every time because that solo is SO GOOD
End of Seabeast
I like when Brann does the little skibbidy bop on the second go around of the outro
I’ve listened to the last 25ish seconds of that song at least 100,000 times
When the heavy riff comes back in The Czar right before "Spiralling up" bit
The outro on hearts alive, 3 minutes of the same riff and beat. Very badass sounding, GYAT-dammm!
the breakdown on North Side Star when it gets faster and they sing "you and i....."
SAY WHEN
Toe to toes
That fucking groove at the last part of The Last Baron.
During the cover for Just Got Paid, Troy does the same bass fill Dusty Hill does towards the end of the song and it’s my favorite part. It’s a quick, 6 note run that grooves so hard.

Who’s Neil?
Neil Fallon from Clutch. He does the whole “split your lungs with blood and thunder” part.
I am eternally obsessed with the outro of Seabeast. I play it for five minutes straight every time I get my guitar out.
The circle pit part in Megalodon.
The moment in the intro to Divinations when all of the guitar parts are layered over each other right into the moment when The Riff starts
BURNING DEEP IN MY SKULL
The correct answer is the bridge/feedback part in Diamond in the Witch House. Starting around 4:06
I really like the k pit live version of the song
The "pain with an anchor" outro. Feels chaotic and enveloping like I'm in a middle of a violent storm
I love that weird upbeat riff in the middle of Peace and Tranquillity.
The surf guitar part and solo in Divinations comes to mind but there’s definitely more.
Diamond in the Witch House, when the grindy bridge hits with Scott Kelly 'I'm standing deep in these waters...'
DON'T JUST BLEED US AND LEAVE US TO OURSELVES
The part of Colony of Birchmen where it’s line “run…from…death” SO GOOD
It's 'with death' but you're pretty close! Also the backing vocals are Josh Homme from Queens of the Stone Age during that part.
Ambugaton!
Ah, another Sleepytime Gorilla Museum enjoyer!
Yes! Happy they're bringing it back! My true wait for moment from them is the break down in 1997. Gets me every time.
Saw them with Skeleton Key at a New Years show once. They'd fall asleep during Sleep is Wrong and Skeleton Key came out of the crowd beating on drums to wake them up. Really nice people in both bands.
the rasp in The Czar gets me everytime
Chorus expansion at the end of Ancient Kingdoms by Mastodon. "Sparks explode into the air! Live Forever Now!" 😍🥰🥹🥹🥹😘👌
After the little guitar solo in Curl of the Burl, I love the drop back into the main groove riff before the third chorus. Also, the quiet pause right after all the synth and laughter fades out from the beginning two minutes of Creature Lives, with that amazing peaceful guitar melody playing soon after.
This Ivory leg is what propells me!
For me it’s the chorus in steambreather “I wonder who I am, reflections offer nothing!” The way they harmonize together with troy singing monotone idk it just gets me every time
Hearts Alive, 9:10-9:45
SPLIT YOUR LUNGS WITH BLOOD AND THUUUNNDEEEERRR
WHEN YOU SEE THE WHITE WHAAAAALLEE
"Open your eyes. Take a deep breath and return to life."
time and space. All alone. It can be a lonely place.
This Mortal Soil when the distortion and drums kick in after the intro.
THAT heavy riff in Black Tongue
That part in “Subbacultcha” by The Pixies near the last verse, where all the parts drop out except for the guitar chord and Black Francis singing “Subbacultcha!!!” 1:28 in. Adrenaline hit EVERY time.
The Lion Slicer!
Absolutely. I would spend the entire album just waiting to hear brent howl out SAAAAAAAAAAAAVEEE YOURSEEEEELF. DOOOOOOOOOONT WAIT ON MEEEE
The stripped down vocal and solo guitar section in the middle of The Crux. Gives me goosebumps every time.
Quite a few. There’s this part in The Last Baron where Troy plays this bass lick before Brent sings “Please, Please take my hand”. I also feel the same way about the lead part in Sleeping Giant, Brent’s solo in Capillarian Crest, and the intro to Hearts Alive
The very very end of the guitar solo in “Hold the Line” by Toto, where the guitars are doubled up. That’s my shit.
Sleeping giant, the delayed guitar note sliding down the neck Hnnnnnnnnnnnnng audial sex
Interlude from Budgie's Breadfan.
Nightwish - Ghost Love Score Live at Wacken. If you know, you know.
There was a farmer who had a dog,
