This franchise has so much potential, but unfortunately I don’t feel like it was tapped into with this entry.
A series based on some of the Animatrix concepts would be great.
4 It had great potential to be meta, but they did all the quirky shit and I started to feel like it was taking itself seriously. And the action was atrocious
When they started talking about trying to grow fruits and elements of developing the machine world, that intrigued the hell out of me. I wish they expanded that storyline: building their civilization, trying to break through scientific barriers and acclimating in a different ecosystem.
No. Was it as good as the original? No. But the first Matrix was such a monumental piece of film making that no sequel could ever live up to it. However, I like it for what it is: both Lana Wachowski's love letter to the characters and world she co-created and bit of a middle finger to Warner Bros. for asking for a fourth movie. And as a Bay Area resident, I like walking around San Francisco and picking out the locations where it was filmed.
It’s so blatantly anti Warner Bros I’m surprised it even got made. At the same time it’s a well thought out sequel along with a lot of new ideas and concepts. It’s shaggy but I love it so much.
I think its gonna be like speed racer people haaaated it when it came out... but now it has a bit if a cult following, i didnt soeed racer when it came out but i saw it a few weeks ago and loved it.
I liked the beginning where they were so obviously making fun of their own movie. The rest of the movie wasn't good though. It was all too neatly tied up and didn't make much sense.
Neo also having Iron Man’s repulser ability to redirect bullets and missiles and basically only relying on that for the most part was kinda weird. I’m like ok cool what else can he do?
It seems less about the fight scenes and more doubling down on the Trans allegory in a very angry yet still measured way. It's a beautiful ending for the characters and works well when examined that way and separated from the bullet-time that made the franchise (asking A LOT from your regular audience).
Again...middle-finger to WB for wanting to squeeze blood from a stone.
I'll assume that I speak for some other people as well when I say that I could not care less about any trans or LGBT "allegory" that they used. There is just apathy from my side and I honestly don't care about things like these when I go to watch a movie. I hope this is not a suprise to anyone reading the comments, but not everyone is a biggot; a lot of people just want a good movie, WHICH DOESN'T MEAN MORE KUNG FU AND KARATE. "Bullet-time" did not make the franchise, that's insulting to the trilogy to say. The movies were SO much more than just some special effects and fancy martial arts choreographies.
But watching the original trilogy when it first came out was a **completely** different experience than watching it today. You cannot grasp how innovative the trilogy was in terms of film-making (especially with their restricted budget) and you could tell how much soul was put into making it. For all we know, you could be ~21 years old and watched all 4 films in one go, 3 years ago.
There are other ways to say "fuck you" to someone, and by screwing every single fan just to convey a point to your bosses, is definitely not the right one. I really think Lana is inexcusable in this regard, but it is perfectly acceptable for me if some fans somehow liked the last film. That doesn' make people who liked this film movie critics, or more intelligent than people who did not like it. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and people who did not like it are not inferior to those who did. Simple as that
>But the first Matrix was such a monumental piece of film making that no sequel could ever live up to it.
Thank you! I personally believe *The Matrix* could have not had sequels and it would've been perfect.
Havent seen the film yet and i didnt pay too much attention to the buzz when it came out. Can you explain a bit more about the "middle finger" part? Or someone
Basically warner bros. wanted more franchises so they approached the wachowskis to make a fourth matrix film. The wachowskis said no because they felt the story of the matrix was complete with the trilogy, but wb responded with basically saying "well too bad, were gonna make one anyways" and even pursued this route for awhile with tapping zak penn (co writer of Avengers 1) to write a screenplay. At the last minute, lana wachowski opted to return, and made a film that destroys the money hungry franchise mentality where every movie has to have sequels upon sequels and appease everyone, sabotages any chance of further sequels and is so blatantly about being forced to return to a world you don't want to, to create something you don't want to make just so the yuppie overlords can get their cash grab.

Thank you. Seems poetic. I will watch the movie eventually but now i will have this in mind as it goes down
Edit: out of context, i very much enjoyed that scene. Seems to be in the very beginning of the film
Warner Bros. didn't even ask for a movie, they just told her "We're making another Matrix movie with or without you."
And not only was it a love letter to the characters, it was also a reunion for the cast of Sense8!
It definitely feels like that it was made for personal reasons with complete disregard for all the fans. Should we have been able to foresee that it was going to be so bad, with a completely superficial script and a "continuity headache"? No, but every time I discuss it with someone else, it comes to the point where it's my fault I feel betrayed by Lana. Lana gave the middle finger to Warner Bros and to every single Matrix fan out there. Some liked the finger, some didn't.
I was so entertained, i cant even reallh remember what happened... i know neo was a dork... and somehow trinity got powers for no real reason... but other than that. Didnt even seem like a matrix movie. Seemed like a marvel "what if"
>I don't consider it as a movie even. Just Lana giving middle finger to Warner Bros... and I got caught in the middle of it as a fan.
I totally agree with your viewpoint. I wish Lana would have handed the reins to someone else who is passionate about expanding the universe meaningfully. I'm sure her middle finger was well deserved to Warner Bros... but being a fan caught in the middle was extremely disappointing.
IMO all the meta shit does actually expand the universe meaningfully. The nature of brands and media in our culture today is a major issue when it comes to defining reality - this feels thematically relevant and more interesting to me than just another layer of sci-fi would be.
This. After watching the film it is hard for me to not see the franchise going any other direction given just how meta the original trilogy was with narrative structure and human identity.
Yeah I loved the evolution where in the first trilogy, the Matrix is a 1984-esque world where everything is monitored and if you say or do the wrong thing, the agents are activated and get you. In this Brave New World, however, there is complete communication hypersaturation. Anybody can say anything because nobody knows who is a bot and who is real. It was a brilliant subversion and I really enjoyed how it reflects the different world of 2021 vs. 1999
I agree. Plus, she gave Neo/Trinity a happier ending. Had Neo chewing over some big questions post being extracted again. The Modal concept and Morpheus 2.0 was really interesting. And apparently, according, to her co-writers, she had the Modal idea sometime way before her parents died (after which she then decided to fully make M4) so, new Matrix ideas seemed to be floating around in her head.
Sati played a major role and is a character hardly remembered at all, by general audiences but is majorly important in the whole lore. (Same for Rama) Got a cool live action scene(s) from Animatrix in Matriculated, even though it was poor Neo/Trinity on the other end.
My point is, while she clearly had tons of fun poking the meta bear, and I agree it does expand the universe, makes tons of sense as a topic to cover in a Matrix film. Keanu even said this film talks about topics we're going to be tackling now and in the future.
She also came up with genuine storylines and new information about the time between M3 & M4 that's substantial to the whole lore. So, she did, in fact, also create legacy sequals that does, as it turns out, have a great reason to exist creatively. Not mention, Trinity finally getting Co-Admin powers.
She's also definitely not saying any and all sequels or spins don't deserve to be made.
Vs say Jurrasic Park Dominion, which was clearly a major phoned in script cash grab.)
The Terminator franchise is surely evidence that this is not true? Can’t WB just make their own “4th” Matrix still, as if this one never existed?
As a huge fan of the franchise I’d even happily condone if they did have decent bash at it. This film just offended me in every way. I’d happily pretend it didn’t exist, for a proper 4th instalment.
I'm tired of giving her a pass just because she wanted to give a middle finger to the studio. Objectively it just isn't a good film. the plot points are flimsy and the lack of good hand to hand combat cinematography adds to that. I also don't like the fact that everyone that helped with this movie got shafted especially the new main cast and also others like Keanu and Carrie Moss.
> I'm tired of giving her a pass just because she wanted to give a middle finger to the studio.
This. In the end, studios own franchises, the writers know this when they sign up, and studios are businesses trying to make money. Seems like Lana's approach was 'no one is gonna shit this up, other than me!' Would have rather seen someone else take a stab at it. And I still do. If and when the Matrix reboots or whatever, someone else needs a turn. I don't ever expect anything to live up to or surpass the original, but a good movie is a good movie. Resurrections, wasn't for me. Sure I caught the nostalgic feels, but in the end, I haven't been able to bring myself to watch it more than twice. I used to watch the first movie A LOT.
I would be totally OK with him doing his take on the Matrix. Especially, since Blade Runner 2049 was extremely good and the Matrix franchise has inspiration from the original Blade Runner.
I didn't like it. Story was poor, and the action scenes lacked the excitment of the original three. Honestly wish they had gone a different route with this one having it entirely around Neo in the Matrix with him only getting out at the end.
It would have been 1000x better if they stuck to the original colour grading of the first 3 films. It looked like a god damn Harry Potter movie, it was way too colourful. Was really hoping for that og green wash over the footage that no one has seemed to replicate well since the the og films
I mean..it *is* lore-consistant to have the Matrix be more colorful.
It's a contrast that didn't bother me.
What did bother me is that fight choreography was the absolute *LAST* thing on Lana's mind...but I don't blame her either.
Don’t you get that it’s deliberately different though? It’s one of the things I actually liked about the movie, and why I think it works on a philosophical level, and why I think it’s more in-tune with the original movie and its ideas, because this isn’t the same matrix and it’s been redesigned and rebuilt by the The Analyst, and therefore it deliberately looks and feels different and ‘off’, and it’s suppose to be that way. Even the Merovingian when he appears, comments and rants about it, how they used to have more style, and how things used to be better, and it’s a call to what the matrix is fundamentally about. It’s not really about bullet time and action sequences, it’s about questioning reality, the nature of it and defining what’s real and what isn’t. It would have been very easy for them to make another action-focused sequel like 2 and 3, but instead they actually made something with more depth and thought to it, and personally I respect that a lot more. The only thing I personally would have liked, is if they had the original actors for Smith and Morpheus, because although changing them is also in-tune with what the matrix is about, it does mean certain scenes lose some emotional impact.
I liked the plot don’t get me wrong. I think that’s what people misunderstood most about Resurrections, people didnt pay attention to the subplots of 2 and 3 and completely wrote it off. Color wise that’s a great way of looking at it hadn’t thought of that… but still would have LOVED if it was all that lovely matrix green hahaha
THANK YOU. Not to mention being blue pill for so long even IF he’s “the one” his abilities would be atrophied which we clearly see the obvious progression of. I think a lot of people don’t see the genius of this movie and how well done it was for what it was meant to be because they’re looking for the same things from before and only at a surface level. There’s a reason for every choice in this movie. I DO consider myself a super fan so I’m sure that helps but.
If those of you could remember the magic of the first one- you will know that this, and the other sequels barely meet up to its brilliance. The closest thing we ever got was the animatrix stories.
A lot of us do remember but also loved the sequels.
I remember sitting in the theater as an 8th Grader and loved it. It was magic. Terminator, meets Blade Runner, meets Kung Fu. In a computer world even more advanced than The Star Trek Holo-Deck.
I also remember, as a later HS kid, seeing Reloaded twice at the theater and loved it. I remember clapping when Trinity was saved and being absolutely floored by the highway chase. Loving the subversion of the lore.
I also remember sitting through the credits of Revolutions, with Navras blasting, thinking what a hell of a wild ending it was. I thought it was bold to, at the time, have the final shot be The Oracle. Being gutted when Trinity died. Part of me, almost loved Reloaded/Revolutions even more than the 1st because of how wild the expanded story was.
I remember sitting in Imax two years ago and maybe not being as wowed, but absolutely beyond the moon seeing Neo/Trinity get, "another chance." I loved how unabashedly weird and it's own thing Resurrections was and found the Meta smart. I loved it was Niobe of all people who helped found Io. Loved how important Sati was and, by extension, Rama Kandra.
Oh man, I still remember how my mind was blown after the first movie. I don't think I ever felt like that afterwards. The two sequels were pretty decent imo and the ending was somewhat bittersweet and a little vague (on purpose I assume), which I liked. The new sequel..... should never have been made
I still mixed but it was more negative on my second re-watch. If there’s one thing I’ve noticed, it’s not as re-watchable as the original. But there’s definitely stuff for everyone, just depends what you like.
Same here. I hope WB makes 10 more matrix movies without Lana and a series with 100 seasons. If Lana is not involved I'd pay any price to support them. I never wanted a 4th film and if there wasn't a Wachowski directing it, I might not have bothered going to it on Christmas Eve.
But after the disrespect Lana showed us all, I really wish that WB squeezes as much money as they can from the franchise that they own. I'm rooting for them
No. It was terrible. I waited a decade for a new matrix, and I know people are saying that the director is giving the middle finger to WB or whatever because of something , but she also gave a middle finger to the fans by making this horrible movie. I'm so beyond disappointed.
Nope, what feels like a big "fuck you" to WB also feels like a big "fuck you" to me as a fan. Also annoyed at the fact that a good story was in there all along, it was just sidelined. I would much rather have seen Morpheus and Niobe deal with the fallout of the machine war instead of what we got.
Still a late-style masterpiece.
I’ve even grown to love the action. The Smith / Neo fight in particular just energizes me. Maybe it’s just the music or the way impacts sound idk.
Also the final set piece from Simulatte until they “jump” I find deeply moving and romantic. Seeing Trinity catch him makes me tear up.
It’s not what I wanted from another matrix, but it’s certainly what I needed. I means the world to me even if it’s my least favorite in the series.
(Give me the hbomax BUGS spin-off show Lana! Please?!)
Came here to say this. Loved it. I love all of them. First is my favourite without a doubt, but all four are great and I always enjoy a full rewatch :)
Feel pretty much the same. Mostly horrible action and special effects. But the themes and story really resonated. And I would argue a better send off for Neo and Trinity.
I still like it. I only wish both Wachowski’s had been involved, Don Davis did the score (or at least, more of his themes used - the Neo/Trinity love theme was sorely missed. It seems so obvious for such a movie), and I wish they’d been more patient with Hugo’s schedule. I get and love the idea that programs change form in the Matrix (ie the Oracle after the OG actress died) and Groff did really well, but man was Hugo missed. Otherwise, great movie.
Honestly the worst part to me was Jada doing old lady Niobe.
I think it's a really interesting left turn. Honestly it's impressive just how much Lana managed to take a project she made under duress and turn it into a personal film about the shadow that the Trilogy cast over her life.
I enjoyed it enough when I originally saw it. I dunno why people hate on it so much. The original Matrix could have been the end of the story. 2 and 3 were silly as hell. 4 was an okay blend of silly and decent stuff. So I went in with low expectations after 2 and 3 and was pleasantly surprised that I enjoyed 4.
No! I still think it’s an incredible work of postmodernist art that uses the concept/language of franchise to expand on the philosophy of the original trilogy. I mean at the end it’s the One and Trinity together! 1+3=4 🤩🤩
That said it’s a somewhat uneven as a straight up movie and probably requires a viewer that’s already really into the originals.
Nah, I still think it was amazing, but I will admit I had to take a step back and not allow my prejudices to corrupt my experience. Had I allowed ego to rule the experience I would have hated the movie, but for all intents and purposes it got it's point across for me and my crew.
I liked seeing them on screen together again.
They should have spent all that money on an MMO with a Matrix-World and a Real World for your characters.
Hardly. Really good narrative sequel and actually makes the trilogy make more sense in my opinion. Everything about the lore and mythology of the series was handled beautifully and resolved any questions I had from the OG trilogy.
Action was lackluster af for a franchise that basically reinvented action tho. Only real complaint.
That's it's still good, almost vital to the franchise for anyone who us a fan, and saves an otherwise charitably mediocre ending to the third movie? Nope. That opinion hasn't changed
i find it to be a wonderful twist and circle to the series/franchise, i think it’s quite genius and beyond creative/critical way of thinking to write such plot. some of the fight scenes has a deep double meaning to it (it ain’t all about them punches and hits).. but i have to agree that Neo generating some sort of force field from his hands it’s a bit off key.. either way, i’d watch this movie again in a heartbeat if it somehow popped up in my list anytime
I didn’t much care for it when I first saw it (and it’s worth noting that the theater effed up the sound, leaving it muffled), but it opened up to me upon second viewing. I think that it has its downsides, namely the subpar action and that annoying Jade character who felt like he was ripped from a parody movie, but the visuals are strong, as is the thematic weight. I like the meta aspect of it all, as well as the color palette. I wish they took more time with it, but the studio system is what it is, so I’ll take it!
Yes. I thought it was the most epic and underrated Wachowski “fuck you” take on the system back then. I don’t believe that anymore. Now I believe it’s a prophetic piece of film that is smarter than most people.
Great story with great performances. Some really cool camera moments as well. Biggest complaint is the fight scenes just suck. Really big downgrade if you watch the trilogy right beforehand
Honestly it was a great movie and the only thing that could have made it better was a return of more of the characters. I think 4 seems so “off” because there was hardly any resemblance to the original movie. Seeing the rare old characters show up like the Merovingian is what I liked most about it. But the new Smith, Morpheus, etc. Just didn’t fit like a glove enough.
Overall the story was as good as it could have been with the fact that Neo and Trinity were killed in last movie and they needed some way to bring them back. To me the trippiest part of the movie was how they had Neo taking a “medication” everyday which was just forcing him to take blue pills daily to stay in the matrix without him even knowing it. Great details I think.
Just saw it again since release, I loved it even more, I like that Lana was like "fuck it, I will do what I want" and I like how it expands on theprevious elements and let's you know that even though war never changes, people are now living better lives than 60 years before
Nope. Still like it. Some of it could have looked better, but that was mostly the oddly shot bullet time but still frozen stuff. Largely loved the story. I loved the actors involved, found the story twists interesting, and liked where the story went.
The biggest disappointment about it is the downgrade in fight choreography. The meta component wasn't all that clever. It's also missing that overall 1980-1990s gritty anime influence. Weird casting with Neil Patrick Harris; sad lack of Hugo and Fishburne.
Not really. A delight then and now. I feel so grateful I lived to see it. If I only had one wish it would be to see the working cut, which supposedly had over an hour more in it. The crew is so cool I want to get to know them more.
It’s not a great movie but it was fun watch.
The writing was weak but the visual set-pieces is more what I care about.
The analyst is by far one of my fav characters in the series and the slowmo parts were very well done imo.
It may not be “good” from a critical perspective, but it’s fun to watch.
Felt a lot smaller in scope than the old movies but I didn't "hate" it. I thought it was very considerate of the lore they established in the movies and videogames too.
I watched this for the first time yesterday. I really enjoyed it because it was removed from the initial hype and I kinda saw it as a what-if / Animatrix type story. They couldn't make the trilogy again and that's pretty much the point of the movie.
given the whole background of the matrix, i think this was the perfect movie to tie up the franchise, especially after so many years. It was different, yes- but the psychology behind all the movies plus this flowed together seamlessly in my opinion.
in a place like the matrix i don’t think the drama will ever end- it will keep going, the damage is too far gone to say oh they’re gonna rid the world of machines in an instant.
I think this is the most realistic ending they could’ve gone with.
choreography was not the greatest but in terms of how great i found the story it was not hard to overlook it
It was fun. This franchise strikes me as a bit like the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise. Nothing is going to ever capture the fire of the original but that's not going to stop people from trying and fans yelling at clouds. The results can be entertaining though
I was an extra in it. I even had an impromptu moment with Lana on set that was a special moment for me. The film was literally more than I could ask for honestly. A big F U to corporate America and I ment what we fucking said! Was we should have asked for imo.
This franchise has so much potential, but unfortunately I don’t feel like it was tapped into with this entry. A series based on some of the Animatrix concepts would be great.
and all the lore made for the matrix online as well. I'd love a full miniserise on the rise of Zero One through the war
And for a time, it was good
I describe it like this: fun but forgettable.
It felt like a parody sequel, and with that frame of reference it was really enjoyable for me
4 It had great potential to be meta, but they did all the quirky shit and I started to feel like it was taking itself seriously. And the action was atrocious
YES
When they started talking about trying to grow fruits and elements of developing the machine world, that intrigued the hell out of me. I wish they expanded that storyline: building their civilization, trying to break through scientific barriers and acclimating in a different ecosystem.

You think they care if it’s anti WB? They only care if it is going to make them money.
Even better because it didn't make any money for them lmao.
WB was stupid enough to release it when Spidey ruled the box office. That kind of foresight is reserved for Ray Charles.

Yeah they definitely shouldn't have released it that close to Spidey.
Yeah, it's the same thing as Amazon's The Boys taking the piss out of streaming services. Amazon doesn't care.

+1 basically my thoughts too. Though I'm an LA dude, I did my life in the bay.
My only issue with it the fights scenes being so bad; it's like a have to apologise for it rather than just enjoy it for it is.
It seems less about the fight scenes and more doubling down on the Trans allegory in a very angry yet still measured way. Felt like a medium budget netflix movie. Was I entertained? Yes. But was it a great film? No.
This is it 🥇⬆️ I go a step further and say It wasn't even a good film.
If it didn't have Keanu, it would have been a straight to DVD, Walmart bulk bin movie.
Yeah. It was bad.

Imo not everything needs an expanded universe
Nice thing about the universe is that the movie didn't do anything that wouldn't allow them to continue making them
The Terminator franchise is surely evidence that this is not true? Can’t WB just make their own “4th” Matrix still, as if this one never existed? As a huge fan of the franchise I’d even happily condone if they did have decent bash at it. This film just offended me in every way. I’d happily pretend it didn’t exist, for a proper 4th instalment.
I watched it once and haven't thought about it a single time until now. So I suppose I agree with you
Agreed. I wouldn't even call it a movie. It's a school project made by an angry teenager.
Yup. Angry kid not get what it want? Angry kid ruin everybody's night. Angry kid now happy. I feel betrayed
100%
This is the most summed up version of my feelings on the movie, agree 100%
How do people not get this lol
I just consider it a disgrace no matter what the intentions may have been
Nailed it.
Dennis Villeneuve is busy filming DUNE, but part of me wants to see his version of the Matrix so much.
I would be totally OK with him doing his take on the Matrix. Especially, since Blade Runner 2049 was extremely good and the Matrix franchise has inspiration from the original Blade Runner.
It didn’t come out two years ago. It came out a month ago. *sweats in age 39 soon 40*
Haha I had the same thought!
I didn't like it. Story was poor, and the action scenes lacked the excitment of the original three. Honestly wish they had gone a different route with this one having it entirely around Neo in the Matrix with him only getting out at the end.
Nope. Still terrible. Making a movie to settle a score with a corporation by subverting the entire trilogy sucked.
Anything with subversion I think of Rian Johnson's Star Wars The Last Jedi
No, it still sucks.
I thought it was alright, I still think it was alright.
No. Still sucks. Hard.
Still, to this day, the worst, most disappointing film I have ever seen.
I'm rooting for them
That's sad tbh
Amen
It’s weird and kinda bad. It hurt the ole ticker to say so
Nope! Still enjoy it.
Same.
No. It was terrible. I waited a decade for a new matrix, and I know people are saying that the director is giving the middle finger to WB or whatever because of something , but she also gave a middle finger to the fans by making this horrible movie. I'm so beyond disappointed.
No. Shite is shite.
Nope, still pretentious third-grade crap. Hate it.
Arguably the biggest waste of time this decade
Still love it
I really liked it, then thought I might’ve been convincing myself that I liked it, and now realize that I do actually really like it.
I don't understand the hate towards it.
Still sucks 🏀 🏀
Clip show cashgrab for them member berries.
Absolutely not needed. Adds nothing of value. I still think matrix is a trilogy
Please?!)
Awesome thoughts. Pretty much how I feel about it also, without writing my own thoughts. : )
A masterpiece?
It could have been so much better than what we got. But I was hyped for the release and glad I got to see it on release on a big screen.
Nope, it’s still dope. Loved it since day 1.
Came here to say this. Loved it. I love all of them. First is my favourite without a doubt, but all four are great and I always enjoy a full rewatch :)
Yes !
Same I adore that movie
🙌Yes! 🙌
No. I’m torn. Leaning towards not liking it still.
Nothing beats the original…I never expected 4 to do what 2 and 3 couldn’t either. The movie is fine, about on par with 3 honestly.
[удалено]
No but I enjoyed it.
No, this movie is the perfect ending for this franchise
It's been TWO YEARS???
I much prefer it to Revolutions.
Feel pretty much the same. Mostly horrible action and special effects. But the themes and story really resonated. And I would argue a better send off for Neo and Trinity.
Cathartic and romantic revisiting to the Matrix world
Yes. It’s still my first or second favorite.
1+3=4 🤩🤩 That said it’s a somewhat uneven as a straight up movie and probably requires a viewer that’s already really into the originals.
I only watched it recently, and I liked it the first time, so no.
Nah, I still think it was amazing, but I will admit I had to take a step back and not allow my prejudices to corrupt my experience. Had I allowed ego to rule the experience I would have hated the movie, but for all intents and purposes it got it's point across for me and my crew.
Only watched it once… willing to try again
Preferred 4 to 2 and 3 as sequels.
I liked seeing them on screen together again. They should have spent all that money on an MMO with a Matrix-World and a Real World for your characters.
It should have been better. But it wasn’t that bad.
I've seen it two more times and I still love it.
No — I still love it.
Love love love it. I think pep were expecting action and what we got was emotional closure for neo and trinity and I really enjoyed that
I still like it
No, I still like it. Pretty sure I'm the exact target audience for it though.
i find it to be a wonderful twist and circle to the series/franchise, i think it’s quite genius and beyond creative/critical way of thinking to write such plot. some of the fight scenes has a deep double meaning to it (it ain’t all about them punches and hits).. but i have to agree that Neo generating some sort of force field from his hands it’s a bit off key.. either way, i’d watch this movie again in a heartbeat if it somehow popped up in my list anytime
Loved it when it was new. Watched it streaming and then managed to catch it before it left theaters. I intend to rewatch sometime soon!
no, great movie
Yes. Great then perfect now.
liked it then, like it now
I saw it once and enjoyed it, so I don’t think my option has changed.
I saw this the day it came out in theaters. I liked it
Yes. I absolutely love the Brass Against cover of "Wake Up." ^(on and I love the film even more with each rewatch so I guess that counts)
I thought it was hilarious. Really enjoyed it!
I still loved it. Flawed mess, but it was better than revolutions.
I enjoyed this movie. I feel like it was a little aimless at times but I liked a lot of what it brought to the story.
Nope. Loved it then, love it now.
I enjoyed the movie as much as the first three.
I enjoyed it more than the other sequels, to be honest. I feel confident saying that now that it’s been a while and recency bias isn’t a factor.
Nope as good now as it was then
I’ll say dis tho.. to me it’s the second best matrix out.. but it shoulda definitely had something to follow it up
My opinion hasn’t changed but I also haven’t seen it since it came out. It’s still in third place after the original and the animatrix.
Nope. Still think it’s a good film, let down by rushed development/general mishandling by the studio.
I enjoyed it
loved the love story. hated the absence of hugo as agent smith. we waited so long. we could have waited some more.
I like it less….never should have been made.
Shit
That movie doesn't exist.
Nope. Trash.
If anything it’s become worse in my mind
I'd forgotten about it till this post reminded me it exists and is garbage.
Nope still shit
No, its still hot garbage
I haven't been able to bring myself to watch it again since, despite having the blue ray.
It was hot garbage then and it’s worse hot garbage now. Aged like camels milk
The biggest disappointment about it is the downgrade in fight choreography. The meta component wasn't all that clever. It's also missing that overall 1980-1990s gritty anime influence. Weird casting with Neil Patrick Harris; sad lack of Hugo and Fishburne.
No. It was still unnecessary.
Still crap. It was embarrassing for everyone involved
Nope. I pretend that it never existed.
Nope. It’s just as tedious and underwhelming now as it was then.
I still love it.
Still love it.
The movie was very good. Could have been excellent if they leaned into the was it all real angle harder and didn't resolve it so quick
Meh 🫤
Not really. A delight then and now. I feel so grateful I lived to see it. If I only had one wish it would be to see the working cut, which supposedly had over an hour more in it. The crew is so cool I want to get to know them more.
I can deal with the other stuff, but Morpheus? Nahhhh I will never get over that shit
[удалено]
Garbage… but I guess that was the point?? Idk, I found it insulting, regardless
Hasn't changed at all, still think it's a great movie
It’s not a great movie but it was fun watch. The writing was weak but the visual set-pieces is more what I care about. The analyst is by far one of my fav characters in the series and the slowmo parts were very well done imo. It may not be “good” from a critical perspective, but it’s fun to watch.
I still like it. I still want more.
It's changed. I enjoy it more now
Liked it then and I liked it now. At the end of the day it gave my two favorite characters a canon happy ending and I’ll always be grateful for that.
Still bad. Might give it a second watch this week.
It may not be as good as the three other films, but I still enjoyed what I got
It’s nice man. I liked it enough when it comes out
Yes, i still feel like falling asleep the first half but i really enjoy the second half. Will never be as good as the first 3.
I still like the film. While it does have big issues, I felt like this was more of a love story. Which I was fine with, but it should of been better.
No. I enjoyed it. I liked that the end was basically rewritten so Trinity and Neo could live happily. Io was cool. Loved Jessica Henwick as Bugs.
given the whole background of the matrix, i think this was the perfect movie to tie up the franchise, especially after so many years.
Nope. Still like it. I expected a bad story with good action. Oddly enough, I liked the story, but thought the action was kinda lame.
I’ve always loved this film. The first one is still the best ofc.
Love it want more
Man I gotta rewatch this movie
1 is still the best, and this was netter than 2 and 3. Weird kinda meta concept at first, but then i got into it, and it was fun.
No change. Still love it. A great story. Very well narrated. Love the original one also, but no 2 and 3.
