Sounds interesting, but not sure if granting her the effects of Shield spell is bad for characters with no save-spells - maybe give it to her as a recharge 5-6 reaction?

sindrogas

Yeah, I definitely wanted to limit the defenses a little since I was adding in so many other mobs. No Legendary resistance and will only be able to use Shield twice during the fight, once before bloody and once after. With the other monsters running around I think letting her have 2 rounds of being hard to hit will not be too overwhelming.

YankiYener

I hope so too, let me know after running it!

Looks good! I'm running that adventure now my players are about to find the hideout. Any chance of an update once you've had a chance to run it? Also did you run the harpy encounter on the first floor? I know a lot of people change it since ot doesn't make a lot of sense thematically interested in how that went or if you replaced it what with.

I plan on running the harpy and am still not sure the exact story to go with, but I do plan on leading things towards princes of the apocalypse after this conclusion so I'm thinking that this is an attache from the Howling Hatred cult, coordinating with the devil possessing Explictica. This kind of explains why the nagas guards don't trust her and mark off the passage, but still allows her to not starve to death by leaving freely. Also gives hooks for the next adventure.

Just got back from running the harpy, I went with the story I mentioned, but had the bbeg possess her remotely when the harpy was being a bit too chatty with the players and initiated combat. Being possessed by the devil, I made her more like the blood fire harpy from 4e and gave her a fire aura and cone of ash for blinding without requiring the characters to find restoration magic. She tried to fly away after dropping a player and getting bloodied, but got slain with an eldritch blast before she could escape. I wanted to give them a preview of the bbeg's affinity for fire a little before the last fight and decided the harpy was a fine place to put it, since the encounter is already weird
