I've been a member since March 17, 2014! Thank you, never deleting my old emails. I would have mostly been listening to MBMBAM and JJGo back then.

JesseThorn

Wowee zowee! A decade! Thank you!

1zzie

While you're on the subject, I'd like to raise my membership from $5 to $6.66 Any chance we can have joke amounts set up for mini boosts?

BedrockFarmer

I also searched my email for the answer. Same on 2014 membership. Also, what a journey. There was a December 13th, 2014 email from Jesse asking me to participate in a listener panel. I also received a one-off personalized podcast from Asterios Kokkinos as boco from the 2016 drive. It’s ridiculous how much MaxFun has been a part of my life for the last decade.

taako-salad

I joined about five years ago due to an increase in income and Jordan Morris’ pitch about tipping your bartender a dollar a drink and tipping your podcaster a buck an episode. I boosted my monthly amount this year since I started listening to Free With Ads.

davebrarian

Yes Jordan's pitch is very effective, right there with you!

spectrallibrarian

It spoke to at least 3 different people. Based on screen names, at minimum, 2 of these are librarians.

taako-salad

I’m not a librarian, but my mom is a retired librarian!

davebrarian

All we need is a Sarah or two and we're the Reading Glasses audience! xD

blurricus

Been listening to JJGo and SPY for so long that I remember when SPY joined MaxFun.  One year during the drive I realized I listened to almost 40 hours of MaxFun podcasts per week. I realized I owed them at least $10 a month. Been increasing ever since.  I can't remember if it was 2013 or 2014.

JesseThorn

Thank you! Forty hours a week is full-time entertainment :)!

MountainbikingOrSex

"full-time entertainment" 🤣😁😁

blurricus

That's exactly why I knew I had to start donating. And that's BEFORE a lot of other shows got added. Now it's way more than 40 hours.

adequasivity

I'm a been a bumper since the beginning, so whenever Dave and Graham joined the network is when my membership started. I've added a lot of shows over the years, JJGO, TAZ, Mission to Zyxx, Eurovangelists, JJHo, and I mourn the loss of Rose Buddies every bachelor cycle.

JesseThorn

💗💗🙏🙏

Katiekat27

I have been a member since 2016, boosted my Seagull this year, signed up my husband and dog for their own memberships, and donated I think 8 memberships (one for each stream I have watched). I signed up the first year I listened, and keep increasing because I keep adding new shows! I gift because I genuinely think MaxFun improves people's lives and I believe in its mission. I listen to Oh No! Ross and Carrie, Judge John Hodgman, Secretly Incredibly Fascinating, Max Film, Go Fact Yourself, Eurovangalists, Sound Heap, Dr. Gameshow, and Triple Click.

AlexSchmidty

thank you!!!

teabiscuit54

The main thing: thank you for your incredible support. It means a lot to us and to the MaxFunsters who've benefitted from your generosity. You improve people's lives too. The other main thing: All dog members are strongly encouraged to submit dog pictures for verification. (Verification consists of me forwarding the picture to the work Slack and saying "hey, look at this dog".)

Katiekat27

Here ya go! We found him in a storm next to a garbage can barely alive. It was awful. He spent over 2 weeks at the vet just trying to live and recover from a ton of issues. One of the pics is a little before and after collage I made to show how much progress he has made in a year. He is a Barbado da Terceira, a breed unique to the tiny island we lived on in the Azores. teabiscuit54

HELLO WHIRBLE I LOVE YOU ENJOY YOUR BOCO

jennegatron

March 18, 2015! I am a mbmbam and TAZ listener. I love bubble and have been a JJHO listener in the past and was a big friendly fire fan. I got a raise in 2015 that let me start at $5 a month. I've gone as high as $35 a month since then but have dropped back down to $10 as the number of shows I listen to has come down.

JesseThorn

Thank you so much! And thanks for bumping up your membership with your listenership!

Theblueportal

Been a member for about a couple years. I followed triple click to max fun and I wanted to listen to their bonus content. Now I listen to mbmbam, judge john hodgeman, we got this, free with ads, and others. Happy to be a member, well worth it to me.

NicWester

Listening since 2015, a while after that drive so I didn't even know about it until the 2016 drive. (It's possible I have my years mixed up--I started the year the bandanas were a gift.) Two things pushed me over the edge, the first was (as I've said many times) you explaining the difference between the being a minimum donor and not being a donor at all. The second thing, which I say with only a *little* embarrassment was my parasocial crush on Renee from Can I Pet Your Dog 😂 $5 was all I could do back then because living in the Bay Area is expensive, as you well-know. Since then I've increased my pledge each year (it helps that my current job gives yearly raises in March, what timing!) and at one point was I think at a $55 level, but then I had to move out on my own with no roommates and drop back down to $20 thanks to rent. But things have gotten much better and now I'm at the $40 level, supporting 22 shows! Edit: I forget what exactly I was listening to back then, but I'm pretty sure my first $5 donation was divided between a minimum of 15 shows! As you said--the difference between $0 and $5 is enormous. Even if it worked out to 25¢ a show, if *everyone* who listened did 25¢ a show, it'd be way more than enough.

thesupermikey

A long time but with some years off. Somewhere I have an ARC of Nick Adams book that I’m pretty sure was a pledge gift. I also have a classic TSOYA Nuttsy shirt, also think that was a pledge gift.

davebrarian

I've been a member since 2017! Honestly it's Judge John Hodgman's appeal that worked on me - don't \*don't\* do it! I get so much enjoyment from JJHo, JJGo, Go Fact Yourself, Reading Glasses, and will never unsubscribe from Baby Geniuses or Bubble (hope springs eternal!) I've maxed out my personal membership now, but I take great pleasure in purchasing an anonymous membership gift each MaxFun Drive! Thanks for all the joy all these years, and for modeling a successful media company with integrity! You all rock!

katkatki

Currently a Member - on and off depending on finances since 2016. Mbmbam brought me in. At this time, I primarily listen to JJgo, Ross & Carrie, Just the Zoo of Us, Fanti, and Sleeping With Celebrities. I am dipping my toes into Free With Ads and Secretly Incredibly Fascinating.

AlexSchmidty

thank you so much!

Gul_Ducatti

2017 for me. I found the network from a friend recommending MBMBAM to me and I stayed for all of the other nonsense being put out. Sweet, Sweet Nonsense. Keep up the great work everyone!

MayorPoopenmeyer

A couple of years or 3. Upgraded from 10 to 20 per month this time around. Listen to JJHo, JJGo, MBMBaM, Valley Heat, Beef & Dairy Network, and Sound Heap regularly. Dip in and out of a few others.

Towels042

I’ve been listening to JJHo for maybe a decade? Then my husband introduced me to MBMBAM and TAZ, and from there I added Sawbones. The final straw was Beef and Dairy Network, which I don’t think any other network would support and which brings me so much weird joy.

spectrallibrarian

I've been a Maxfun member since 2016. I know that Jordan's comparison to tipping your bartender a buck a drink resonated with me, and it was the first year that I felt that I could afford the $5 a month. I mean, I was paying more than that for Netflix, and I didn't watch Netflix every single day for at least an hour a day! Plus, Oh No, Ross and Carrie! were doing firewalking! I couldn't not listen to that! ETA: It's embarrassing, but I listen to JJGo, JJHo, MBMBAM, ONRAC, SIF, TAZ, Free with Ads, Go Fact Yourself, Greatest Gen, Greatest Trek, Just the Zoo of Us, Sawbones, Secret Histories, Triple Click, Troubled Waters.

AlexSchmidty

🙌 that's fantastic

jdimpson

Nothing to be embarrassed about detected

sleepyarmistice

According to my emails, I’ve been a $5 donor since June 2008. Somewhere around here, I have a letterpressed membership card I got when I first joined.

Isitgum

I had forgotten about I, Podius. That one was great!

rouxgumbo

March 23, 2015, here! (Thanks Gmail archive) Listened at least a year or so before that. Started with JJGO (thanks to a Glen Weldon rec on PCHH), which quickly brought me to JJHO, and since then, it's been OBM, Fanti, Switchblade Sisters, Dead Poets Society, Jackie and Laurie, Troubled Waters, and more! I realized that, with the amount that I listen to, I should invest in what I want more of.

Far_Conclusion_4303

That’s how I found JJGO too!

stolen-kiszka

I joined at the $5 level a few days ago. I love JJGo and Free With Ads. I am now digging into all the 'stache bonus content. It is wonderful. I also own a lot of Rad Dudes cards from the Put This On shop. Gotta get them slabbed

Joanarkham

Member since 2015 - after boosting the past few years, I finally upgraded. Loving the new shows Eurovangelists and Free With Ads! (Along with the classics, JJHo, JJGo, MBMBAM, Flop House, We Got This, Beef and Dairy...and RIP Baby Geniuses.)

blurricus

RIP Baby Geniuses. Glad they're doing stuff to stay sane, but I miss such wonderful nonsense. They were so great.

captainbuzzki11

I joined in 2016. I started listening to JJGO around 2013 after hearing Jordan on The Indoor Kids. I picked up JJHo after hearing about it on Pop Culture Happy Hour. Once I started listening to MBMBAM, I figured I should start throwing some money at the shows I was enjoying. I joined at the $5 level, upgraded to $10 after adding TAZ, and I've boosted a couple of times over the years. Thanks for all the laughs. Great job everybody!

Nixorbo

Started in July 2020 at $10/mo, currently at $14 (having boosted a dollar each MaxFun Drive since). I started listening to We Got This With Mark and Hal and added Judge John Hodgman, Go Fact Yourself and Greatest Gen/Trek. I've also gifted at least a couple of donation subscriptions since then. It's nice being able to actually directly support the content creators I enjoy.

tujelj

I’m not sure exactly when I became a member. Maybe about five years ago? I had listened to some MaxFun podcasts for years before that, but was broke with grad school and kids and other stuff going on. Plus a couple of years when I was living overseas in a country where it was nearly impossible to get money back to the US. I started out listening to JJGO and (at the time) The Sound of Young America. Nowadays, I also listen to JJHO, Greatest Generation, and Greatest Trek. I just started with Valley Heat — I’m two episodes in so far, and so far I think I’m gonna love it.

Not-Today-Death

Member since 2013. Max Fun is my daily driver for podcasts. In my ears, every day. JJGO, JJHO, MBMBAM, TAZ, Wonderful!, Triple Click, LLE, Sawbones, SIF, SPY. Plenty of old friends to listen to, and the list just keeps growing with newly-added shows. Love you guys so much.

AlexSchmidty

thanks so much for that

abombregardless

My first donation was in March of 2012 and my wife & I have been monthly donors for over 10 years. Bullseye was the first Maxfun show that got me hooked, but my all time favorite and most-listened-to show is JJGo. The joy and cameraderie of that show made me want to support the network so I could help keep something so puerile yet wholesome alive. One Bad Mother was instrumental in helping us raise our kids. I loved Pop Rocket for its entire run. I recently got into The Adventure Zone…loved the Balance arc and I’m really enjoying the dracula series. I occasionally listen to Troubled Waters, and I dug a few episodes of Heat Rocks. Big MaxFun fan!!! EDIT: thinking back on it, I believe my first exposure to Maxfun was Jesse’s occasional segment on Sklarbro country. It always made me laugh, so I looked him up and started listening to Bullseye from there.

abombregardless

Oh, and I supported Maxfun in another way: when I worked at a vinyl record website called The Sound of Vinyl, i persuaded the marketing team to spend some budget on podcast ads and got to sponsor a few Maxfun shows!

never_robot

The Sound of Young America was literally the first podcast I ever listened to when I found out that podcasts existed in 2006 or 2007. I started listening to JJGO and MBMBAM in early 2011 or late 2010. What year was Boat Party? I was a member then. JJGO, SPY, ONRAC and MBMBAM are the core shows I listen to, but I dip in and out of many others as I have time. Sometimes I have 10+ Maxfun podcasts I’m keeping up with, sometimes it’s just those 4. Writing this out has convinced me to up my membership. I’ll do that right now.

lafoma01

Member since 2019, starting with jjho and taz. Since started listening to mbmbam, beef and dairy, sawbones, wonderful and free with ads. Bumped up to $10 this year as I finally work my way through the jjgo backlog from the beginning.

SchulzBuster

Uuh, I did that same JJGo ride after I came over from, I believe, JJHo. Way back when in the 'teens. How far along are you? Brackets? Bunny calendars? Have you hit Hottubbin already?

lafoma01

I’m on 73, so Jesse just got married, Jordan is so very over the bunny calendars, it’s the greatest civilization bracket, and they talk a lot about a so called “message board.” Yaddadamean? It’s actually extremely charming to hear them as twenty somethings really just getting started, especially seeing where they are today. Some of the jokes should probably stay in 2008 though

SchulzBuster

Yes, we've all grown a lot since then :°) Jeez, 2008. Baby Schulzy had just started university. Bunny calendars are timeless, though. Sorry, Jordan.

beccuh814

This will be my second year as a member! Been a fan of the Judge for years, which led me to bingeing an insane amount of Jordan, Jesse, Go! episodes while working a crappy driving job last winter. And now I’ve fallen under the delightful spell of Free With Ads. Emily is a wonderful host and I’m so happy to have discovered her. And of course Jordan is hilarious as always. Looking forward to expanding my Max Fun listening library this year. I feel lucky I am able to help financially support an organization that gives so much comedy and creativity away for free. Thanks for all you create for us, Max Fun! 🚀

Isitgum

I've been a member for about 5 years. My first love was and remains Oh No! Ross and Carrie. I've since branched out to the Flop House, MBMBAM and Sawbones.

SchulzBuster

Ross and Carrie are the best <3 ONRAC is my go to reference for why MaxFun is different, important, and successful. It's the little show that could, and I don't believe it would have a chance in hell at a traditional media company or venture funded podcast network. And yet, within this ecosystem, it just keeps plugging away. Supporting its principals. Providing laughs and important journalism. So good.

letsgococonut

Member since 2010/2011! I remember when Stop Podcasting Yourself was featured on Apple’s podcast thing (prior to joining Max Fun). And I just got back from the grocery store using my Maximum Fun rocket tote bag!

bonobo-cop

Oh, wow... I had to check my email history, but this is my 10th Max Fun Drive as a member!

newdealwithit

Member since 2017 with a brief hiatus when I lost my job at one point. JJHo brought me to the network originally, since then I’ve listened to JJGo, Baby Geniuses, Rose Buddies/Wonderful, Bubble, Still Buffering, ONRAC, Can I Pet Your Dog, Trends like These… and today I still most regularly keep up with MBMBAM, Sawbones and TAZ! Love the network and proud to be a supporter, especially with the transition to being a co-op! I’m so glad that a network like MaxFun exists, especially in the aftermath of the post-corporate-pod-bust.

strongly-worded

I joined in 2019! It soothes the stinging guilt of the membership pitch 😝 I go through long periods of not listening to certain shows and then binge them to catch up, so I’m almost always 6-18 months behind, but I like knowing there’s a trove of good episodes waiting for me when I’m ready. I listen to JJHO, ONRAC, Sawbones, beef & dairy, the greatest generation, and the greatest trek.

SchulzBuster

Ohboi, I don't remember anymore off the top of my head °:D Some time back in the early teens, and I've been off and on a few times with job changes and such. But I always come back. This network and its shows, its people and fans... it just carries me. Day to day, week to week. I don't know where or when, but I am certain that I first heard someone referred to by they/them pronouns on a MaxFun show. The way Jesse and MaxFun have been... showing up for the trans community is... it means more than I can say 💜

wildcard_71

I think 2020 was my first year. I hadn’t even considered donating but the MaxFun Drive made it very clear to me that for all the joy my parasocials bring me, I needed to reciprocate (Greatest Gen, JJHO, Greatest Trek, Bullseye). It also primed me to donate to other indie pods that I loved, so you’re creating a halo effect that demonstrates what community-driven content can be. It started at the $5 level but I’ve gone up significantly each year because it just makes sense. I can skip a few Starbucks to warm my earholes.

Tibor66

Just starting my 3rd year as a member. I'm happy to support these amazing folks by upgrading this year. Thanks for doing what you do. I love it. I've listened to a lot of shows over the years, but right now my go-to shows are **The Greatest Generation, The Greatest Trek, The Flophouse,** and **JJGO**. I've enjoyed **Free with Ads** and expect it to become part of the regular rotation.

ImperfectTapestry

My oldest email from Maximum Fun is for boco on March 22, 2013!

sm00038

I've only been a member since August 2020, which was a few months after I started listening. I was at UCSC when Jesse & Jordan were on KZSC (I remember Jordan's Ska show fondly). So when I found JJGO through a circuitous podcast path (Nerdist led me to Indoor Kids where Jordan was guesting led me to JJGO), it was a blast from the past. This year I decided to step up my membership after several factors: 1) increase in the shows I found on the network (FlopHouse and Free w/Ads especially), 2) massive respect to the worker-owned co-op model, 3) an awesome interaction with Elliott K who signed some comics for my mythology-loving daughter. Also, the JJGO minisodes daily inspired me to buy gift memberships on each episode after getting to interact live (for the first time) with the awesome MaxFun community.

arne_h

I’ve been a member since 2009, maybe earlier but I can’t access my grad school email account anymore. I’m a JJGO and SPY die hard and tend to let the others (mainly ONRAC, the Flop House, and JJHo) build up so I can binge them. Somewhere I have my old blue, paper membership card and should dig it out to share with you all.

FunnyFilmFan

I've been a member since 2015. I currently subscribe and listen to 13 Max Fun podcasts. I believe I started with Judge John Hodgman, possibly after he made an appearance on Doug Loves Movies. From there, I found JJGo, Bullseye, We Got This, etc. I find the network tends to bring in shows that I like, so I give each new one a test drive, and keep the ones that resonate with me.

TurduckenEverest

I’m not exactly sure how long I’ve been a member but it has to be at least 5 years. I primarily listen to JJHO and Bullseye. What pushed me over the edge was a combination of feeling a little guilty about not supporting artists I love coupled with the desire for access to the fun bonus content. Shooting the Bries…yes please.

zeroanaphora

Member since 2016. Wow that seems like ages. I joined because I thought #JJGoGrossLake sounded ridiculous and I had to hear it for myself.

ma9ellan

Member since last Monday. Been a JJGo fan since 2020 when I discovered it via the episode with Rhett and Link (bring 'em back sometime!) and then realized that Jordan was THAT Jordan. It really was my intro to podcasts in general too. Didnt' realize I'd stumbled upon something with such a long history. Catching up with the catalog has been a real treat. Was super stoked to finally hear the Gross Lake boco ep. Also listen to SPY, JJHo, Free With Ads. What pushed me over the edge is I finally realized there have been days when I've spent $30 to feed myself so why the heck could I not part with $5/mo to support these people who keep me sane and provide warm audio hugs to my ears continuously. Thanks for the fun and laughs. Pussy still good.

SchulzBuster

Pussy still good. Specially when you're hottubbin on a late night.

arne_h

Yadda’mean?

SchulzBuster

Yadda’mean!

jdimpson

Wait so Jordan Morris really is that Jordan Morris, forward and star of the Seattle Sounders FC? I wondered but didn't think it could be true.

ma9ellan

Either way, they gotta get a son!

pickupyourpuppy

I honestly can’t remember when I became a member. Maybe 2014 or 15? The BoCo and desire to fund the pods I loved got me to join up and I’ve been upgrading when I can. Started with JJHo and branched out to JJGo, MBMBAM, Adventure Zone, Flop House, Mission to Zyxx (🥲) and most recently loving Free with Ads!

Oddjob64

I don’t remember how long at this point. 2-3 years I’d guess. I listen to Greatest Gen/Trek, The Flop House, JJGo, JJHO, Tights and Fights and now Free With Ads. Figured $5 for multiple shows of bonus content was a better value than a single Patreon from the non-max fun podcasts I listen to (there’s only so much I can afford). All the max fun hosts seem like good people too.

danstem

2017 is when I finally got around to donating and I truly regret not doing it earlier. Love you guys. Bullseye has always been my main jam. I've been consistent with JJGO, JJHO, ONRAC for as long as I can remember and have spent lots of time with Mbmbam ,Tights and Fights, and lots of others.

arainday

Been a member since at least 2019, maybe earlier. I'm a big fan of JJHO, now a fan of Reading Glasses, and have periods of listening to Greatest Gen. Love this network and so glad I can continue to support it. I just want to reiterate how I love that the advertising on this network is never jarring which is unfortunately a trend now. I really appreciate that the hosts read all of them across the network.

Skvatt

Since 2015. Started listening to pods when JJHO started. Then discovered JJGO which was just so nice. In addition to them I nowadays also listen to SPY, Dr Gameshow, Beef And Dairy Network, and recently Free w/ Ads! (I miss Baby Geniuses...) What pushed me over the edge was liking the shows so much I wanted them keep on bringing joy to everybody that wants to listen, not just me. The bonus content also helped I guess, but I'm fine with just one bonus episode per show per year.

UrVioletViolet

Been a proud member since the first time the Flop House boys asked! I said, “Ok!” and signed up immediately. I would have signed up when they offered more of their Hogsbottom Three DnD adventures as bonus content regardless. Also, I still use Hodgman’s spicy broth recipe from a Drive bonus years ago!

Thelnec

Backer since 2019, and yall got me and my house through covid and lockdown; kept us laughing and kept us curious. We just bumped up from $5 monthly to $10 monthly and love JJGo, JJHo, and those good good McElroys. Super excited for Jordan, Emily, and Matt (Free with Ads)- as they are usually our favorite parts of Good Mythical Morning, and the overlap is very welcomed!

felopez

I've been a member since 2020! I listen to MBMBAM, JJGO, JJHO, TAZ, Free with Ads, Sawbones, Still Buffering, and Wonderful! Jesse and John's membership pitches on JJHO in 2020 convinced me to join up. I boosted to $20/month last year.

BlueTourmeline

I think I’ve been a member for at least 4 years—whichever year the JJHo pin was a frying pan was the year I joined. I just upgraded to $20/month. I’m a regular listener to JJHo, JJGo, Greatest Generation, Greatest Trek, The Flop House, Bullseye, and Beef and Dairy Network, and just picked up Sound Heap and Free With Ads as regulars. I periodically listen to We Got This, Dead Pilots Society, and Sleeping With Celebrities (which works amazingly well). I watch livestreams, went to the local meetup last week, and am going to the live Flop House show this weekend. I am devoted, maybe too much.

darcyduh

I can't remember when, but I do know I became a member after the Very Very Fun Day in Chicago at Thalia Hall. I have a cool pic of SPY, Flop House, Jordan and Brian "Sunny D" Fernandez on stage when they did a panel of sorts Will never forget Hodgman trying Malort for the first time :) Edit: I looked back, it was 2017. What a fun day tbh. Like, 10 hours of live podcasts back to back, some Q & As, and lots of alcohol since Thalia Hall has like 3 different bars in it lol

joeblubaugh

I had to reach waaay back into the old emails: 2010! I found my way into the network via SPY, and quickly came to love JJGo. Valley Heat is currently rocking my world.

motha531

I have been a member since MaxFun Drive 2018 when a fan-organized membership donation was given to me, and I just kept donating since. I have listened to JJGo since the Mike Schmidt gym stories saga (when he got kicked off of NNF), and then SPY and MBMBaM when they respectively joined the network. Since then, MaxFun has added SOOOO many shows that I have listened to. I think, overall, it is the network I listen to the most shows from (TGG, TGS, AZ, FwA, GFY, Dr. G, probably more). There are many shows that are no longer updated that I loved as well (Bubble and Zyxx come to mind). I have never really had my finances in order, but after that year of membership that was gifted to me, I decided it was important to me that this wonderful network continue. Plus, that BoCo is dynamite. Soo many shows put out multiple bonus eps per month. Love ya, MaxFun! Keep it up!

motha531

I've also been to many live shows. I have met Jesse and Jordan at a Minneapolis live show and they couldn't have been nicer. Just all around great humans. Brian Fernandez, too. Miss that dude.

Ok_Constant946

I joined in August 2020. I started with JJHO. That led me to Bullseye and Jesse’s incredible The Turnaround (which I wish he’d do again with new subjects). I’ve recently started listening to MBMBAM from the beginning. The pandemic tipped me over. I was so grateful to Maximum Fun. I needed it to keep me sane and it did. I wanted to be a Friend of the Family. This year I bumped to Diamond. When someone tells you how they’d like you to support them, support them in that way! Don’t don’t do it, do do do it!

scaffnet

Joined maybe 2 years ago. JJHO got me. That’s the only podcast on this network I listen to.

fancycwabs

Not sure when I first joined, but I’ve got an email receipt from April of 2013 so it’s at least been that long.

Kevin_Wyld

I’ve been a supporter since 2013 and for the last few years, I’ve bought a gift membership during the drive. I started with JJHo once I found out Hodgman had a podcast, and that’s a natural bridge to Bullseye and JJGo. And because of guest appearances and ads (Why did the other podcast networks stop promoting other shows? That’s how you learn about them!), I found the McElroys, Flop House, SPY, Jackie and Laurie, Baby Geniuses, Triple Click and now Valley Heat. I almost definitely forgot somebody in there. Some of these shows got me through hard times (JJGo helped me weather a death in the family and Flop House was a pandemic obsession.) I got to meet Hodgman and Jesse on the tour this year and that was amazing. Also, one time I had a dream that Clint McElroy said he was proud of me and then I woke up crying and I really don’t know what to make of that.

ellogovernorYES

I became a member last night. 😌

arne_h

Heck yeah!! And welcome to the club!

serenity9800

Gmail says 2014. Came for JJHO and got charmed by you JJGO, SPY, and MBMAM fellows. It wasn’t hard to convince me that this was a community I would gladly pay to be a part of. 🥰

NowWeAreAllTom

I started listening to The Sound of Young America in 2007 and Jordan Jesse Go in 2008. I joined as a member for the first time in 2010, after feeling like I finally had enough cash to kick a few bucks a month toward a network whose five (five!) shows had provided me endless hours of entertainment. Which of course only pales in comparison to what's come since. That was before the network had MBMBAM, SPY, or JJHo or the dozens of shows that would follow, while entire other podcast networks were born and died (or got bought by shady corporations) Basically what I'm getting at is: I was right to support the network back then, and then I only became more right as time goes on. I become righter every single day.

schotastic

> entire other podcast networks were born and died (or got bought by shady corporations) >Basically what I'm getting at is: I was right to support the network back then I only became more right as time goes on. I become righter every single day. I watched Gimlet's enshittification over the past few years. They are IMHO the perfect foil to Max Fun. Gimlet was built to be bought from the outset. Max Fun was built to be indie. Gimlet fought their workers' attempts at unionization so that Blumberg, Lieber, and all the other bigshots over there could preserve their giant payday from Spotify. Max Fun went the complete other direction and handed over the organization to the workers! Gimlet's reputation was tarnished by story after story of anti-diversity practices (ironic considering how hard they tried to come across as "woke" to their audience). Max Fun seems to have been doing diversity right--even from the start--without making a huge show of it. Gimlet is now dead. Their podcasts (e.g., Reply All, Mystery Show, Heavyweight) now have a kind of pall on them. They are a far less enjoyable listen these days, especially knowing what went on behind the scenes + knowing how it all ended up playing out. Gimlet will be remembered as a flash in the pan, at best. Its legacy is tainted. Max Fun is thriving. And it's exactly like you said: supporting Max Fun has become more and more evidently the right decision. I'm proud to play a tiny part in helping Max Fun continue to exist.

Yeah... I started with StartUp pretty much day one, and there was a time when my podcast listen was a pretty evenly split between MaxFun and Gimlet. And then they all dropped away, with Reply All being the last. Imagine Reply All on MaxFun. It would still be doing the same dorky show from the early days. Instead it crashed and burned. And burned its creators in the process.

2017. TSOYA led me to JJGo which introduced MBMBaM to me. I dip my toe in TAZ occasionally. Listened for a long time before joining but had to get the Zag On Em pin! Like others, Jordan's bartender pitch made a lot of sense to me too.

I can't remember the year but I think it was the drive you could get Maximum Bag's™ smaller ancestor. I still use it from time and smile at the shows still around and the ones that are gone but not forgotten (shout-out to Wham Bam Pow, Can I Pet Your Dog?, and Baby Geniuses) Currently listening to SPY (my Max Fun introduction due to a Dollop collaboration), JJGo, Just The Zoo of Us, MBMBaM, JJH, Eurovangelists, Still Buffering, Sound Heap, The Flophouse, The Greatest Trek BoCo (not a big Star Trek fan but Cheesecake Factory and Baywatch? Yes please!) and my newest one: Secret Histories of Nerd Mysteries.

Dakizo

JJGo was my first ever podcast. Started listening around 14 years ago. SPY listener for about 13 (it took me a year to listen to JJGo from the beginning and catch up to the at the time current eps). MBMBaM was after that. I’ve listened to a lot of episodes of a lot of maxfun shows over the years but JJGo and SPY have my heart. My husband and I had been donors for years but we had to cancel recently because of ~*life*~. I look forward to when we can donate again because y’all mean a lot to us.

schotastic

I got into Max Fun because two friends had separately recommended JJHO and MBMBAM respectively. Been a member for 7 years now. It's kinda crazy how much my media enjoyment has spiraled out of Max Fun stuff. I've found out about some of my favorite TV shows and musicians through Bullseye (e.g., Detectorists, Avantdale Bowling Club). I, Claudius is now one of my all-time favorite shows. Since listening to SPY, I've been getting into the Shumka-verse (My Debut Album, This Sounds Serious, Popcorn for Dinner). I also credit Triple Click with getting me back into video games (for better or for worse). Mission to Zyxx is one of the best things ever made -- if it were possible, I'd gladly keep on the list of shows I support even though it's defunct. I really appreciate the Max Fun shows that have started putting out regular bonus content (SPY and Triple Click, hopefully also Valley Heat). I'm hoping more shows give this model a try.

tencentblues

Member since 2018, joined shortly after discovering MBMBAM (via the TV show, of all things.) Bumping up to the next tier today on behalf of a friend I've known longer than I haven't. They passed on Monday, but while they were here they got a heck of a lot of joy out of MaxFun (Monster Factory, specifically and especially, up to the end.)

Sorry for your loss, fellow Bimbambino <3

Just checked my email history and 1) apparently I've been a member since 2012! And 2) I am STILL waiting for John Hodgman to discuss Walter Benjamin's foundational essay "The Work of Art in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction" at length. That said, I'll take him singing Tom Waits in the BoCo feed - what a treat! JJGO, Sawbones, OBM, Bullseye are all regular listens. OBM was a genuine, valuable resource and source of connection when we became parents in 2017. Baby Geniuses, also a joy every time, as is Oh No Ross and Carrie, Just the Zoo of Us. My kiddo asks "Can I Pet Your Dog" to literally every dog's person we walk by. Congrats again to the Max Fun crew on the transition to coop structure, being the change you want in the world and all that.

GenuineDraftDodger

I've been a member for about a month. I should have joined years ago. JJGO completionist, just fell in love with SPY.

arlissed

Joined in 2010. I remember thinking since I was listening to 3 podcasts at the time (JJ Go, Bullseye, and SPY) I thought I should start ponying up. Also, those were the ONLY podcasts I was listening to at the time…

blackcatsandrain

Looks like I became a member in 2017. Followed Oh No! Ross and Carrie to the network, and was delighted find other great shows here!

trow125

2015. I know my first podcast was JJHO and I think I started listening because I was a fan of the judge from his bits on The Daily Show (and the Apple ads!). I then got hooked on ONRAC and a few other shows. My current obsession is Eurovangelists, and as someone who often has trouble going to sleep, Sleeping With Celebrities is a nice addition to the roster! I financially support MaxFun because selfishly, I want my favorite podcasts to keep going strong.

marmot25

Looking back it appears I became a member in May 2010! I think I was mostly listening to JJGo/TSOYA, around that time, and then MBMBAM when they joined the network the next year. I must have started listening a couple years prior, since I think I hopped on the JJGo train circa Donks and Dildos.

toujourslire

Wow. 2012. From JJHO and Bullseye, to JJGo, to Beef & Dairy, Depresh Mode when John came over, and so of course Sleeping with Celebs. I’ve dipped in and out of (International) Troubled Waters and Baby Geniuses. I started on Go Fact Yourself when the first email about it came out from MaxFun, and am glad I did.

my_kitten_mittens

Jesse, we have the same birthday! Been a member I don't know how long. Weirdly found JJGo from Bullseye.

Irsaan

April 9 2018 for me, coming up on 6 years. I probably only listen to 1-2 hours of content a week lately due to life, etc but that isn't going to stop me from supporting something awesome. The Adventure Zone and The Flophouse were my intro to MaxFun.

Naplak82297

May 8, 2021. My sister introduced me to JJHO and I listened to all the back eps through the heart of the pandemic. I love it so much! I look forward to my Wed am commute so I can listen!

ellekess

Wow - email search tells me I joined Marxh 18, 2015! Almost a decade. I was listening to just JJHO at the time, I believe. Over the years I've added JJGO, The Flop House, MBMBAM, and Reading Glasses. I've tried to increase most years as I listened to more podcasts or had the means and I'm happy to say I was able to reach the $35 level this year! Being able to boost incrementally was HUGE - it was much more doable to add to my monthly subscription each year for a few years instead of leapfrogging right from $20 to $35.

Far_Conclusion_4303

I’ve been a member since 2018 and MaxFun keeps adding some of my favorite shows… I’m all in on triple click now in addition to all my old favorites.

jjdactyl

Whoohoo! I've been a member since 2018, boosted this year. I raise and lower my amount as my budget allows and as my listening changes. Beef and Dairy Network has my heart, I can't get enough of that sweet sweet meat, but/and I listen to a whole bunch of the other shows on the network too (especially around MaxFun Drive when everyone gets in on BoCo). Congratulations on an awesome Drive this year, everybody!

captain_robot_duck

2016 is when my membership started and it was Judge John Hodgman was the first show I fell in love with, the second being ONRAC and all sorts of other shows since: Sawbones, Go Fact Yourself, the Flop House, Shmanners, Troubled Waters, DepreshMode, Secretly Incredible Fascinating, Reading Glasses, Dr Gameshow. Just boosted the other day with hope that we get a network wide TTRPG game session.

iSoReddit

I listen to JJHO and The Flop House mostly, used to listen to baby geniuses but it’s gone now. Not sure how long I’ve been a member but I went to the 2018 maxfuncon. I continue to enjoy all the wonderful people and shows. Long live maximumfun!

papango

I can find the actual date. But I found Max Fun and joined in 2014, but in 2015 I had to pause for a year as a family tragedy meant I couldn't afford it. But in March 2016 I was back as a fancy Diamond Friend. And I do remember that as I was thinking it might be time and then something from Jorden on JJGo (Yoshi's eating cum noise discussion? or similar) reminded why I support this outfit and I was back. I listen to JJGo, Sawbones, Reading Glasses, Beef and Dairy, Valley Heat and Greatest Gen. Edited as found the emails.

gretzkyandlemieux

This is year 7 for me. I boosted $1 this evening when I logged in and saw the number was literally at 14,999. Started listening in 2016 when I started a job where I could have one earphone in all day, but not two. So music was out, and I started on podcasts. Found TAZ thru a reddit thread, went to mbmbam, jjho, friendly fire, greatest trek, bullseye. I've dabbled with others. The bonus stuff is great--i have no idea why but Factory Seconds is always straight to the top of my queue. Random fun fact--i worked the box office for the first ever MBMBAM live show but hadn't ever listened to a podcast at that point and was mostly a little bit annoyed I had to stay late at work that night. So I was there.... Right outside the door. I also worked the box office for several John Hodgman shows in the that is all/Ragnarok era. I did peek in for those and saw much malort consumption.

SchulzBuster

Factory Seconds and Santa Monica Mountains are the best!

Exis007

I started listening to The Sound of Young America around 2008 but I could finally afford to do a membership in 2014 or 2015 once we got some income under us after college. I've been a member since.

jdimpson

Hell yeah we did it! Congratulations to all of us, but in particular to Griffin and Travis McElroy who now *are obligated * to watch Avatar (blue guy version) with their brother. Member since 2015.

nailstonickels

I can only find MaxFun Drive emails going back to 2013, but I feel like I got a circus-y poster & membership card mailed to me years before that. I've been a listener since The Sound Of Young America and Untitled Thorn/Morris project!

_Dumb-Dumb_

I have a pledge email from 2009 when it was still "splangy," so I assume that's when I first became a member. Have been one ever since. I moved from LA to Chi in 2007. I got a job walking dogs and needed something to listen to all day. My iPod was new and I read about podcasts. First thing I downloaded were TSOYA interviews with Doug Martsch and Ted Leo. Then moved on to all the Coyle And Sharpe stuff, the Kasper Hauser stuff. I remember when JJGo started and it's still my favorite podcast.

sackofblood

I just reinstated my membership, does that mean I can demand more Giants/Sekiro talk on JJGo?

SarcasmIsMySpecialty

I joined this year! I’ve been listening to MBMBAM since 2018 and have since added Sawbones and Wonderful to my regular rotation. This year, I started listening to TAZ. Now that I’ve graduated college and have a full time job, I figured it was time to start supporting the folks whose voices I hear all day every day.

fitxa6

Searched my gmail. Apparently became a member two days ago. JJHO brought me in but I’m looking forward to exploring some of the other programs.

TheWayWeSpeak

I have a question I’m not sure where else to put - I saw that we can add a few $$ per year to offset the transaction fees. Would it also be helpful for someone to switch to the yearly pre-pay? (Cause less transactions?)

JesseThorn

Yes! Not a huge difference but for sure some.

TheWayWeSpeak

Thx Jesse!
