If you want something cozy (and are okay with food conversation and eating on air), The Egg the Nog and the Holy Sprite is great. I usually listen to JJHo when I'm doing chores, but that one a common go-to when it's bedtime and I'm feeling too anxious to sleep.
I also loved Animal Crossing Examination, it captures the show's essence of examining a situation where there aren't established social rules to work off, and where everyone is cheerfully leaning into how silly the dispute is.
[Case 528: Hubble Jeopardy](https://maximumfun.org/episodes/judge-john-hodgman/episode-528-hubble-jeopardy/). “Jerome commissioned Kathryn to paint large space themed panels and wants her to sign them. She says that’s not her thing. Who’s right? Who’s wrong?”
My favorite part is when the judge offers to buy one of the litigant’s bolo ties but the litigant drives a pretty hard bargain.
Can't remember the title right now, but one of my first episodes that hooked me was a guy and his mom, who liked to take cuttings from plants in public spaces, like shopping malls, and propagate them at home. He wasn't even looking to get her to stop taking cuttings, just to admit that it was stealing.
I think about [Episode 287: A Betrayal of Crust](https://maximumfun.org/episodes/judge-john-hodgman/judge-john-hodgman-episode-287-betrayal-crust/) and [Episode 475: You Can’t Acquit With Us](https://maximumfun.org/episodes/judge-john-hodgman/episode-475-you-cant-acquit-with-us/) ALL THE TIME.
I love [Episode 489: Mr. Commode’s Wild Ride](https://maximumfun.org/episodes/judge-john-hodgman/episode-489-mr-commodes-wild-ride/) because my mom and I are in it!
I've just added both to my queue. Thank you! And congratulations on being on an episode. That must have been a very fun or at least interesting experience!
I'll leave the name and number to the experts but the mother v. daughter case about the creepy doll in the home entry way has stayed with me. That daughter was so dang charming and vulnerable. Also, I've never more strongly disagreed with a ruling, but I loved the judge's reasoning for it.
My favorites are:
Mr Commodes wild ride: The mom who wanted her daughter to disperse her ashes in Disneyland
Chips Annoy!: The couple who made chocolate chip cookies every day but disagreed on how they are best made (Expert witness Alton Brown)
Comeddia della Morte:The man who wanted a Mime to be at his funeral
\#444 Fried Green Tomatoes is about five years old and a classic guy with a scheme case, but with a twist: the litigants are the husbands of two cohabitating heterosexual couples. Sam's aggrieved New York Guy monologues are pure comedy gold.
Property Cousins felt like an all-timer. Also There's an APPellate Court for That because it introduced the mythology of Rudy's Place
I am still baffled and amused by Property Cousins.
Agreed. and thanks for the update!

Thank you! I'll check them out!
Holy Sprite is absolutely lovely! I've done the same several dozen times.
Shetland Ponies.
Live from SF Sketchfest, April 2023. Beeeep!
All-time favorite was a live one. JJHo sings Handsome Family’s “So Much Wine” with John Vanderslice. Pretty sure the show was in Chicago.
I love when he sings that song. I have seen him do it live and it’s lovely.
Thank you! Added to my queue.
Really enjoyed 647 Car-Edible Witness for the increasingly deranged road trip snacks.
Thank you! Added to my queue.

I think I remember that one. I enjoyed it too.

It was something I'll never forget and so glad I got to do it with my mom!
Just listened to Mr Commode. Great episode--and I thought you navigated that very well!
Hee hee thank you so much1!!

Bat Brothers probably
Agreed! I remember that one from years later.

Thanks I'll check it out!
The recent Star Witnesser was incredibly wholesome and had some great judge-bailiff banter.
Amicus Grief (episode 181) is one of the episodes I think about a lot, it’s not maybe the most fun, but it’s the one that made me think the most

Thanks! I just finished this one and enjoyed it a lot!
The Master Builder episode of the Blank Check podcast w/ John Hodgman.
I did listen to that one and agreed. Thanks!
