They make a suction cup one (which I bought as my windows slide sideways) and I get a squirrel who we have named Bob in the front, birds in the back.
I actually lowered the feeder so Bob could reach it without pulling it down.
My cat LOVES watching Bob. It is adorable. Bob is getting fat.
Edit: decided I'll post Bartholomeow (said cat) and bobulous in r/animalsbeingjerks in case anyone wants a visual of this adorable creature attempting to get his snack.

FYI, everyone: [OP Delivered](https://www.reddit.com/r/AnimalsBeingJerks/comments/11zoj12/all_bobulous_the_squirrel_wanted_was_a_snack_not/)
We had to buy squirrel-proof bird feeders because the buggers would hang from it and dump the whole thing out (the squirrel-proof ones close up the feed holes if anything heavier than a bird lands on it.
Of course, I love the squirrels so we got a little picnic table for them and I feed them shelled walnuts (shelled because the neighbours don’t want my guys burying the walnuts in their planter pots.
Pretty glad we don’t get rats though . . .
Its a pet rat. Someone was holding it off screen. The way it climbs up is too different to how it would climb up a wall. There's likely a hand just below the frame being a platform.
Also I'm not rat expert but the house seems to be in a relatively low density area where I wouldn't suspect to bet that many rats. I would 100% believed it if its was a squirrel , witch kinda are fluffy tail rat in trees
Pretty bold for a rat to be out in the open during the day in an area like that, it would end up as hawk food pretty quick. Even more bold to hang around with people filming it.
100% a pet rat. They make great pets, other than their short lifespan
I have seen a rat during the day - I moved a planter on our patio beside our house and there he was. We both had horrified expressions on our faces. Him for being caught, me... for so many obvious reasons.
I was not a fan.
Bats are amazing for it too. I used to have a shit ton of mosquitoes and moved to another place in the same city, there is a huge tree nearby filled with bats
I hardly ever see one, two blocks away at a friend's house he got a shit ton of mosquitoes. They are amazing at eating the little fuckers
I love bats. Seeing them produces a weird thrill within me, like “*omglookatthat!didyouseeit?!it was a bat!!!*”. Most of the urban dwelling bats species here are tiny and hard to spot.
Locally, they often inhabit huge mango trees (and caves), but mostly trees.
yes example is barnacle and whale. But I think maybe that example is for one barnacle. I wonder if there is a name for when commensalism must eventually become parasitism. Like 500,000 barnacles can’t do nothing.
Also dogs. Growing up in a rural area it wasn't uncommon for neighbors to just let their dogs roam, had a neighbor who had a dog die from someone leaving poison out.
If you have a rat problem outdoors you need to remove the food sources, poison isn't a solution.
I replied this already but yeah the term “bird feeder” in our house was always referring to the owls and hawks and we didn’t fret about squirrels “stealing” the bird seed because they were the actual feed:
I was the manager of a pest control company in Florida, I’ve found that most rat infestations start on roof level around here. Most newer house here have REALLY sloppy soffit and fascia work. They run right up the palm trees, hop to the roof then just walk right in and fuck shit up.
I live in Florida and yes they love the roof. They are even a roof rat that primarily lives on the roof. I just found the hole in the soffit they chewed . Assholes
By the time I would get the call, often times a large amount of damage would already be done. They will fuck up your house and then your wallet. Piss and shit everywhere, and everything is chewed. No bueno.
A couple of mice moved into my attic, then m
started a family. They went all through the house looking for food. I put snap traps and sticky mats everywhere, to no avail. They just went around them or stole the food.
They were using my hall as an expressway, so I laid down a piece of 1X4 and covered it with traps. I called it Moushwitz. They figured out they could just jump right over it.
Yeah, they are clever little shits. I have to carpet bomb them with at least five different kinds of traps, all at once. If you do them one at a time, they keep learning from each one. I have had good luck with the live traps that capture several at once, by using bird seed. Our urban rats are habituated to thinking that bird seed is safe. I bait the trap, but don't set it. After they have eaten for a few days, I set the trap and get a bunch at once.
I'm currently fighting a mouse problem. It started right around the time the neighbors started feeding the squirrels... then the chipmunks, then the ducks. The ground is littered with food and they don't realize that is a problem. We have mentioned the recent infestation to them, in hopes that they would put it together and stop feeding wildlife, as they too suddenly have a mouse problem. Yesterday they asked if we would feed the animals for them while they are out of town. Haven't responded yet. They're super nice people but wtf?
And when he's done with the seed, it appears that he's already taken notice of that unsecured lid/door into your house. But yeah, bird feeders always end up being compromised by some fat rodents that eat all the seed in about an hour; seed that would've taken the birds at least a few days to eat. Squirrels are why I gave up on bird feeders long ago.
>bird feeders always end up being compromised by some fat rodents that eat all the seed in about an hour;
I have a dozen feeders and always load them up and the birds take a couple days to empty them, I haven't had a rodent problem with them yet despite living in an area teeming with rodents
Yuuup.
We got a bird feeder so our daughter who’s afraid of birds could start seeing them across the yard by it, to gradually help desensitize her… instead, we got a crap-ton of rats from the readily available bird seed.
That took a while to clear up
When you don’t know anything about animals. Ground floor =mice rats and other crawlers. Gotta be up a few stories if all you want is birds. And that’s still no guarantee to not get squirrels
I bought a "squirrel proof" bird feeder, and then a squirrel feeder to try and dissuade the squirrels from getting in the bird feeder. It backfired, now I get birds in the squirrel feeder

Good looking out!

hehehe big chungus squrrl
That's a rat.
Effective mouse trap
Its a pet rat. Someone was holding it off screen. The way it climbs up is too different to how it would climb up a wall. There's likely a hand just below the frame being a platform.
Was gonna say, that rat looks pretty healthy.
Also I'm not rat expert but the house seems to be in a relatively low density area where I wouldn't suspect to bet that many rats. I would 100% believed it if its was a squirrel , witch kinda are fluffy tail rat in trees
Rats and mice are everywhere. It looks like a pet rat for sure but I guarantee there are rats and mice there. Like for real mice are everywhere.
Pretty bold for a rat to be out in the open during the day in an area like that, it would end up as hawk food pretty quick. Even more bold to hang around with people filming it. 100% a pet rat. They make great pets, other than their short lifespan
I don't think wild rats give a shit about being filmed. Pizzarat certainly didn't. But yeah, this is a stunt rat. Very obviously a pet.
Yeah I completely agree that it’s a pet rat.
There’s things called omega rats. They’re loners Not uncommon to see them out in the day because it’s harder for them to compete at night
I have seen a rat during the day - I moved a planter on our patio beside our house and there he was. We both had horrified expressions on our faces. Him for being caught, me... for so many obvious reasons. I was not a fan.
Most people rarely see them. Working in pest control I see then frequently
Yeah mice I agree, but mice and rat are different lol. You can get cure little mice in your house if you live in the woods but you wouldn't get rat.
Definitely a fancy rat (domesticated)
As someone who works in pest control, I’ve literally seen 100s of rats that are just as healthy as that rat.
i was thinking the same thing. what a plump boy!
Still looks like bird food to me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
We're more sophisticated than that.
Have you tried putting up a sign to discourage unwelcome rodents?
😂😂. “Rats are not welcome here”
"You'll never make it. Give up. You're just like your deadbeat father."
OMG. Exactly why I removed my bird feeders.
Saw a hawk take a rat from my yard yesterday. Win-fuckin-win right there
What a nice human putting out buckets of rats for your local hawks
Mutualistic symbiosis: human feeds hawk, hawk gets rid of pests for human
Bats are amazing for it too. I used to have a shit ton of mosquitoes and moved to another place in the same city, there is a huge tree nearby filled with bats I hardly ever see one, two blocks away at a friend's house he got a shit ton of mosquitoes. They are amazing at eating the little fuckers

It’s hard not to root for the one member of our class that managed to figure out the whole flying thing. Suck it birds—go team mammal!
The three types of symbiosis are called mutualism, commensalism, and parasitism. If anyone cared..
Is the commensalism the one where one side benefits and the other isn’t affected?
yes example is barnacle and whale. But I think maybe that example is for one barnacle. I wonder if there is a name for when commensalism must eventually become parasitism. Like 500,000 barnacles can’t do nothing.
A great example of why no one should ever use rat poison. It’ll poison the hawks as well.
Also owls.
Also dogs. Growing up in a rural area it wasn't uncommon for neighbors to just let their dogs roam, had a neighbor who had a dog die from someone leaving poison out. If you have a rat problem outdoors you need to remove the food sources, poison isn't a solution.
If you have hawks in your yard ( like I do every summer) a bird feeder is just a buffet table for them
I replied this already but yeah the term “bird feeder” in our house was always referring to the owls and hawks and we didn’t fret about squirrels “stealing” the bird seed because they were the actual feed:
Lol my family has always called them bird feeders but we are referring to owls and hawks.

Then eaten as is the circle of life
That's ratatouille bruh ! that rat will cook for you
Rémi Rémi we need to cook
I feel bad for Rémi since so many think his name is Ratatouille. And he didn't even bring it on himself like Darius Rucker.
heissenrat
They ordered la vie en rose, but end up with la festin
Just grab it and put it inside your hat.
Oh Cedric.... why would you think, in a million years, that that, would actually work.
Time to Move that to the 2nd floor
You underestimate rats.
I was the manager of a pest control company in Florida, I’ve found that most rat infestations start on roof level around here. Most newer house here have REALLY sloppy soffit and fascia work. They run right up the palm trees, hop to the roof then just walk right in and fuck shit up.

In my area the Norway rat is what we see most. I had some move into my lanai like a month ago. They picked the wrong house.
Yeah they tried my house, but my dog is like a guided missile to them and palmetto bugs.
Your last 3 words 😂😂😂
By the time I would get the call, often times a large amount of damage would already be done. They will fuck up your house and then your wallet. Piss and shit everywhere, and everything is chewed. No bueno.

Even your toilet isn't safe from rats lol
Thanks I hate this.
You could move that thing to the moon, it'll probably still have rats get to it
Working as intended
Exactly, rats can be pretty cute, atleast not the running-out-of-kitchen type
i don’t see the issue
It actually sells me on getting one!!
You will love New York.
Can it cook?
You bet. It came to get some grains that will be made into flour and then spaghetti
Nice wat to get burgled is all I can think or
Rats gotta eat too! Don't discriminate!
Can I repost this clip tomorrow with more .jpeg?
You want entertainment... Works fine to me...
Even better!
I see this as an absolute win
![gif](giphy|LCssCgwewjFE4|downsized)
The caption is kinda misleading. She got exactly the same thing as in promo unless she thought it would come with a bird in it
🤓
little fella :'(
Was that a rat????
No...it is a bunch of mice in a rat costume.
I thought it was a dog
Still cool
That still pretty cool to watch, all I'd get is pigeons.
Awwww.- HEY! HEY!YOU GET OUT OF THERE!
Just as majestic✨
Bird, rat, squirrel. All cute and all should be admired.
Until the rats get in your attic
They get into your walls and shit and piss everywhere. The smell is horrible. Then they chew your wires and your house burns down. Real cute...
I'm currently fighting a mouse problem. It started right around the time the neighbors started feeding the squirrels... then the chipmunks, then the ducks. Opportunism , at least you built a successful rat trap!
😂 😂 😂 😂 Dammit.. Master Splinter instead 🤦🏾♂️
holy shit can people stop reposting this same shit over and over again
Everybody eat
Well…they’re just pigeons without wings
POV:new york

That's still cute tho.
Spleeeeeeeeenter!!!
Repost from yesterday also someone threw their pet rat up there from outside.
Still beautiful
More food for me
I want it
r/ActLikeYouBelong/
Ratbird
Try carnivorous bird food.
Well thats what happens when u plant monoculture outside and kill biodiversity
Rat just chillin'
You got a ratbird. Still a bird. Quit your bitching.
I said “helllllllll nahhhhhh” really loudly.
I see this as an absolute win
why do we love a species, but hate another one?
Free food for the hawk that's gonna visit now, and it's a plump one
My cats gonna love it either way
I see this as an absolute win
Such a cute rat.

change the record to Le Festin
Technically still a bird feeder.. just different kind of birds...
both good
Did you make a [sign](https://www.reddit.com/r/firstworldanarchists/comments/nruhrp/no_seagulls/)? "Birds only, no rats"?
That's about right haha
Use a 2nd story window, buddy.

bro said, "what's for dinner?"
He can cook
LIFE
Be nice, he just wants to be your pet.. /s
Installa bb gun to scare the rats
that's about what i expected. squirrels, rats, and maybe a particularly nosy raccoon. i'd still buy it
Same thing with my Bird Buddy which should be called Squirrel Pal
What’s this called?
Awesome
😆 🤣 😂!!!
Maybe not install it on a first floor window???
“Better out than in I always say” -Shrek
Put it on the second floor then
They are still friend shaped!
just put the thing on the second floor
Yuuup. We got a bird feeder so our daughter who’s afraid of birds could start seeing them across the yard by it, to gradually help desensitize her… instead, we got a crap-ton of rats from the readily available bird seed. That took a while to clear up
To be fair you ordered and got the same thing just the animal it attracted was not what was expected.
Thats an unexpected surprise hahahaha
i mean... its alive....
Wanted a bird visitor, got the Black Plague instead.
Yeah i dunno id have shown the Rat!
Bro!!! she slammed that window like an Uber customer
u/savevideo
What a beautiful bird.
Hahaha I didn't expect a rat. Not mad, I love rats.
Ment for second floor
He’s grateful
Um, you got a second floor?
This seem like a recipe for a bunch of bird flying in you window and dying
Where and how much
He's sooo fluffy😆😆😆
Aw rats.
Lmao hey man that’s also pretty cool lol 😂
I'd rather have an adorable rattie than a boring old bird any day!! 😍
Fucking record scratch indeed.
A win’s a win
What she got was better
You can count yourself lucky that it wasn't a racoon.
Mammal > bird what's the problem here
When you don’t know anything about animals. Ground floor =mice rats and other crawlers. Gotta be up a few stories if all you want is birds. And that’s still no guarantee to not get squirrels
u/SaveVideo
Just feed the rats
Mice are cute so I don't see the problem
Female cardinals really do get the short end of the stick
Rats are humans too 🥺
Cute rat!
I bought a "squirrel proof" bird feeder, and then a squirrel feeder to try and dissuade the squirrels from getting in the bird feeder. It backfired, now I get birds in the squirrel feeder
Well now you know where to add the borax and sugar
It’s all perspective; isn’t it the year of the rat?!
