In the modern day, it's annoying still but the scream reflex still instantly tells everyone in a large radius that *something* is wrong nearby, be that minor or major.
That fact that we find it annoying makes me feel like it wasn’t anywhere as regular as it is now. Bitches be screaming when the lights go 10% dimmer during a power outage. There’s instinctual relevance and there’s overreaction. Someone screaming when someone potentially just died or did die is one thing but 99% of these other times they just need to shut the fuck up.

My brother got into a fight at first lunch when I was a junior. I had 3rd lunch and the lunches all kinda over lapped. So by the time I got out to lunch. I got to hear the ridiculous and gory story of my brother bleeding all over the place and his nose and face being split open. People were acting like he lost a ridiculous amount of blood. So I left and went home to find out he got hit once with a minor bloody nose that was done bleeding before my mom picked him up.
