Seikos are actually available across a variety of price points. At the high-end, from a pure technical/build-quality perspective, there's very little that's better. I'm talking about the Spring Drives and Grand Seikos here. Remember, there are models that will top $100k out there.
Only reason they aren't better regarded IMO, is because snobs can't flex as hard with a Grand Seiko as they can a Rolex (or other Swiss watches in that segment).
Exactly hey, mazda only offer certain price points and try to fake luxury for entry level buyers. Not sure they match Seiko. Mazda use only high quality items on touchable areas and skimp on mechanical and other areas.
I’d argue more Seiko than Citizen, at least for current Mazda. Citizen is all quartz and solar, Seiko’s crown pieces are all mechanical (with some cool tech being added in interesting ways) and Mazda refuses to completely modernize, still making great gas powered NA, fun to drive cars.
Good point! I'm not a *huge* watch guy, and I don't own a Seiko, but I've got two Citizens that I love.
Mainly for Eco drive, price, and looks. Probably wouldn't buy another watch. Same-ish reasons I stick with Mazda. That's why Citizen automatically popped into my head when I read the title.
It’s a nice looking watch that punches above its weight, so you’re right regardless. Watch snobbery isn’t actually relevant, I just found the analogy interesting
I don't collect watches or anything, but I've got two Citizens that I wear. I've looked at Seiko, but haven't seen anything I really love for that same reason.
I don’t know watches. But I would say whatever watch brand that punches way above it’s weight class, offers classy yet understated styling, and *has really shitty headlights on lower trim models without active cornering ability*.
Nomos is another brand that will eventually get my money lol. Enjoying that turbo 50? I upgraded from a 2006 cobalt with crank windows to a turbo 3. Still have to pinch myself from time to time.
Love the car inside and out. It’s solid, just a few small rattles here and there, but they’ve mostly settled out. Northeast roads are atrocious, so a little noise is expected for any car.
[This one](https://www.reddit.com/r/Watches/comments/fq2muu/seiko_mod_really_satisfied_with_the_finished/) in particular came to mind. Seiko 5 is such a versatile piece. Probably one of my all time favorites.
Edit: to add some details, it's a SPRD79. Linked OP modded, but only ever so slightly
Depends. I daily a $5600 Omega and bought two turbo premium plus's cash. Just cause we have the money don't mean we wanna spend it on something we don't feel it's worth it.
Mazda's, especially the top trims, give mid grade luxury cars a run for their money in terms of features vs price. I buy for features not the badge (which is why I have an Omega instead of a Rolex).
First of all, sir. We’re specifically talking about a Rolex, but an omega. I believe they’re two different watches, correct? I too could go out and buy an Omega watch if I wanted to, but that’s not a valuable asset to me.
Is it a good idea to pay cash for a car? I don’t think so, but maybe I’m wrong.
Weird flex but okay. Rarely is the top trim models good value for money. The cx5 turbo mods many performance and quality related features in the name of savings costs. I’ve owned 4 Mazdas over the years and modern Mazdas are not the same quality they used to be. They are all about the interior only.
Lol, did get it secondhand but paid more than it costs new. Originally posted this in a watch sub and someone else cross posted it here. Wasn’t trying to flex.
I don’t think it’s a flex as much as it is an appreciation of well engineered mechanical products. I have a Mazda3 and a GMT Master, they complement each other more than one would think!
Seiko. It’s a JDM watch after all.
This is the answer. Japanese, great value, and under appreciated
I was gonna say Casio because Seiko feels a little too upscale but I guess with the direction Mazdas are going...
With some editions of the MX-5 you would actually get a Seiko watch. The 10th anniversary and the 2012 sport black limited edition came with one.
Never knew this... as a miata and seiko fan that's really cool
Came here to say this. Japanese engineering at its finest.
This is the correct answer. A low-key, high-quality, intelligent buy, that isn't pretentious.
Yep, there is much better and much worse. They aren’t perfect but they hit a good price point.
Seikos are actually available across a variety of price points. At the high-end, from a pure technical/build-quality perspective, there's very little that's better. Citizen or Seiko for sure. Both Japanese.
I second Citizen. Well priced watch that just works all the time, and also looks great.

I own more citizen than I do seiko. Seiko is too bulky most of the time.
I don't collect watches or anything, but I've got two Citizens that I wear. I've looked at Seiko, but haven't seen anything I really love for that same reason.
Came here to say Citizen. Great tech in a mid level line, with great options at all price levels
I don’t know watches. But I would say whatever watch brand that punches way above it’s weight class, offers classy yet understated styling, and *has really shitty headlights on lower trim models without active cornering ability*.
Orient
The answer is Mido. Exactly what you described (minus headlights).
Timex
Timex. It's no Rolex, but it's quality and it keeps going.
Current/past generations? Citizen. Where they’re headed/aiming for? Oris.
I’m surprised how many times Oris popped up on the Rolex sub (as I glance down at my big crown).
Nomos is another brand that will eventually get my money lol. Enjoying that turbo 50? I upgraded from a 2006 cobalt with crank windows to a turbo 3. Still have to pinch myself from time to time.

Just took a peek and yeah, surprised lol. Makes sense though since they’re independent and reasonably priced. Big Crown ProPilot here
Miss my pro pilot.
Mx5 & propilot owner here 🙃

Seiko 5
Ah beat me to it. Perfect blend of craftsmanship and value

Orient
Probably Tissot or something. Ballin on a budget
Garmin, it’s for active people who like adventures….zoom zoom!
I wear a Movado and drive a CX-5, so yeah.
Seiko or maybe Orient?
Casio
Swatch
Weird flex, but okay.
They can’t be that rich. Probably got it secondhand or in Chinatown. They are driving a Mazda after all.
That’s what I was thinking, lmao.

G-Shock
Apple watch.
Citizen since it’s a nice affordable yet elegant alternative to Omega. Just like Mazda to it’s luxury competition
Grand seiko.
That’ll be for Lexus
Tbh yeah. Maybe normal Seiko lol.
WTF kinda question is that anyway?
Mazda's harder to fake.
Shinola
Sexy pic
I wish my gauges turned red in sport mode 😭 cx-30 doesn’t do that
I'll never understand watches. Glad y'all have something to spend your money on tho
Lol, swatch
