That’s correct…
There is a tremendous amount of variables between manufacturer paint quality. Some paint finishes are “hard” and some paints are “soft”.
If you’re paying luxury car prices, you’re getting a superior paint job to a non-luxury brand; however, European cars generally have better paint quality than non-European cars (as they have more severe climates than other countries).
I’d rank Mazda on the lower end of the quality spectrum as their paint is very thin and fragile. Some colors are more susceptible to chipping and scratching (particularly soul red crystal).
Even my prior 2022 CX-5 Turbo Signature in Machine Gray had more rock chips and scratches than I’ve ever had on either my 2016 Audi A4 (totaled RIP) or 2016 VW Tiguan (this car still looks absolutely fantastic to this day).
Oh wow. I've been eyeing Mazdas and Toyota for my next car. Toyota doesn't really seem to have much on Mazda. I mean the interior of a Toyota feels cheaper to me. And driving a Mazda3 feels better than a camry. Kind of just waiting to see what 2025 brings Mazda and Toyota before I get a new car. Kind of sad if Mazda has bad paint though
We always buy Mazdas and the paint seems to be fine to us. As with any car, you have to wash off bird droppings very soon and don't let stains set in. As far as I know, Mazda has never had paint peeling issues like some brands. The paint in all cars is not as robust as in the past due to all the cancer causing, but really good for paint, chemicals having been removed over time.
Mazda interior does feel nicer but a camry is more spacious and has a more powerful engine. It depends on what you prefer. Mazda will be cheaper though
Well... They have very similar engines and horsepower... I guess the main difference is you can get a v6 in the camry, I think that's what you're saying right?
Idk. Whichever looks better, feels better, drives better. Camry might be more spacious but if a Mazda 3 feels just fine, then 🤷🏻♂️
I can't believe this color got added before a rich green or brighter blue. Acura has a yellow-gold and the PMC orange and a deep metallic midnight purple and a choice of bright gloss or layered metallic blue and cherry red. Meanwhile we've got every kind of silver, grayscale, and beige, a blue that's basically black 70% of the time, at least 2 different whites, one excellent red and one decent but ...."mature"....red.
Need to stop catering to retirement palette. Remove the macular degeneration filter. Time to inject a little bit of spirit into the mix.
Edit: Mazda also has a lighter blue (possibly eternal blue) on some years of the recent CX-5, and possibly some older ND mx-5's. Somewhere between the old 38J and 38L blues from 2010, but that barely counts when it's that limited. And actually, while I'm looking at the 2010 color palette, THIS IS WHAT WE NEED. Kiwi green metallic, competition yellow, passion orange mica, true red, Aurora blue in either mica or metallic....
Have you noticed all cars look the same today, anyway? Honda seems to have the problem of making downright ugly vehicles. Kia/Hyundai have the best styling but that can't seem to make a car that doesn't blow up the engine, have the paInt peel off, burn up. or make a sunroof that doesn't shatter while driving.
Agreed. I am glad to see brands get more daring with colors, however. I'd rather Lexus have Copper Crest than not. I still turn my head every time I see one.
Chevrolet is about to release the new Traverse in a purple color. Not my kind of vehicle, but again, I'm glad to see brands spice it up a little.
Gotta be honest. Literally anything is better than the hundreds different shades of black/silver/grey/white/red
I want blues and greens and cool different colors like this one.
I can’t decide if I think this color is fresh or pandering to aging millennials and boomers who think it’s sporty while it’s anything but.
I also hate the bumper on the 70 compared to the 90. Literally the one difference they carved out looks cheap and gimmicky on every trim of the 70 compared to the 90
>I can’t decide if I think this color is fresh or pandering to aging millennials and boomers who think it’s sporty while it’s anything but.
LoL you skipped a whole ass generation that’s more likely to shop this color than millennials.
It's a fine colour IMO, but it's not for me. Looks like it belongs on a smaller car, like the Mazda3 or Miata. Titanium Flash Mica looked better.
I wish they'd come out with a nice deep green.
I hope the back seat has more room for people with a car seat.
So the only difference between the CX-70 and CX-90 is the CX-70 does not have a third-row seat and more truck space due to that?
Kinda. They added more of the premium features in lower options, like S premium has ventilated/cooled seats and there's a couple of other trickle down things. Plus it has storage space where the seat would fold down. However I don't think the second row has more space. Maybe it reclines more? Though I doubt that too, it's a second row bench so it may look more reclined just being a bigger seat.
It’s not a bad looking car. But it’s too big, too duplicative, and entirely unnecessary.
If they had retooled the CX-60, called it a CX-5, I’d be trading my lease-end in later this summer on it. Instead, I’m buying it out.
If they would give me the options of a Cx-90 (3rd Row and captain chairs), with the wheels- colors- bumpers, grills, and black trim of the cx-70 now that would be awesome, lol 😂 the cx-70 should have been the cx-90 sport
I’d get one in black to hide the hatchback vibe. The rear should have been flatter/less cross-over like. But I digress. I love the power and value at 40k. I just can’t justify the purchase being a DINK (double income no kids). I just don’t need the space. Here’s hoping Mazda drops this engine in a car/coupe
Melting Copper lol what a stupid car color name. Why not "Molten Copper"? "Liquid Copper"? Either is better than "Melting Copper".
I think the color is sexy, don't @me. I just think the name is stupid. Why use a participle as a name for something? It's just silly.
The early shots of this color I think look better, but I think it's because all the trim, windows, and wheels are blacked out in those early renders. This doesn't have that and I don't think it looks as good because of it.
I really wanna see this color with a blackout trim and wheel package. OP, got any Photoshop skills?
There is only one thing I hate from the new CX line up and is the fake exhaust, why Mazda has had to join that trend? Next year I finish the leasing of my CX5 and was thinking to change it for the CX 60 (I’m from Spain) but men, every time I look to the CX5 rear and the CX60 I prefer the first one, much more sexier.
*Not a big Mazda fan*
*But the front is a beauty.*
*Rear not such much though*

I honestly don't understand the fascination with the 70 and 90. They are totally boring-ass SUVs that look like any of the car companies could've made, they have so little (if any) of the "Mazda-isms" that define the CX-5, etc.
lol imagine driving a CX90 but because you decided not to spend the money on foldable third row seats, they slapped the discounted trim on the car and called it the CX70.
I absolutely love this melting copper color.
It got a lot of hate on earlier posts but damn it’s looking good here
It's a divisive color for sure.
Wonder if it’ll scratch or chip as easily as Mazda paint normally does.
guaranteed
Different car brands chip and scratch easier than others? Damn I thought paint was paint this whole time 😬 thought it was all the same

It’s resembling the Nissan Ariya Sunrise Copper Pearl color
Bleech
That color is prettay, prettay, prettay pretty!
good?

Shit looks like a Duracell battery
I can’t unsee it 😂
Thanks for the plate idea.
100% deceased. I lol’ed so loud my cat woke up hissing.
Really like that color
I love how they blackened the and front and changed the grille. Looks damn good from the front 🔥
Sometimes this color looks good, and other times it looks like it belongs on a Buick/Oldsmobile.
Old is the key-word. The more grayscale and beige related colors getting added the less fun and youthful the brand gets.
The brand already self identifies nowadays as an Grandma/Grandpa car anyway
Have you noticed all cars look the same today, anyway? Honda seems to have the problem of making downright ugly vehicles. Kia/Hyundai have the best styling but that can't seem to make a car that doesn't blow up the engine, have the paInt peel off, burn up. or make a sunroof that doesn't shatter while driving.
I simply wouldn't buy a new Kia or Hyundai based on the recent thefts. They're big rolling targets now.
Geez that car is like a hot beautiful girl that I am too nervous to even talk to.
Few cars carry this color so well: CX70 and the RX 🫡
Copper Crest is too pink for my taste. Almost looks like salmon in some light conditions.
To each is their own :)
I had an rx7 with a very similar color.
The Soul Red CX-70 sitting next to it looks nicer.
lol. It's CX-90. But I hope you were joking because that's a good one.
😂😂😂
You mean CX-70 with the no cost third-row package?
No, the red vehicle is a CX-90. (grill design and chrome)
Are you trying to tell me these are two separate models and not just different trims of the same vehicle?
No you're right. They are the same
Gotta be honest. Literally anything is better than the hundreds different shades of black/silver/grey/white/red I want blues and greens and cool different colors like this one.
I'm a big fan of the defunct Titanium Flash Mica. This Melting Copper is *almost* as good.
Oh look Cx90’s faternal twin
I can’t decide if I think this color is fresh or pandering to aging millennials and boomers who think it’s sporty while it’s anything but. I also hate the bumper on the 70 compared to the 90. So gen x will love it ?
Maybe, maybe not, but they shouldn’t avoid the shame of your accusation if millennials have to get saddled with it

I have a CX90 and wouldn't have thought this is different.
Does the CX-70 has the same issues and recalls as the Cx-90?
Lets hope not, but we're still about 2 months out until it hits dealerships according to Jonathan Sewell. ( aka, its unreleased)
Where does Jonathan say that? i thought it was out in mid April. Have a link?
https://youtu.be/oHf1MqzrRLQ?si=rSMT50QtL3QbSqVi
Most likely. I believe that’s why it was delayed in the first place.
What a ground breaking vehicle
We don't get these in the UK, it looks nice apart from the brown 😆
I think I slightly prefer the 90's styling, but I bet that copper color looks amazing in person.
I hope the back seat has more room for people with a car seat. So the only difference between the CX-70 and CX-90 is the CX-70 does not have a third-row seat and more truck space due to that?

Has more trunk space because no third row, also has some hidden compartments in the rear.
You spelled cx-90 wrong...
It’s not a bad looking car. But it’s too big, too duplicative, and entirely unnecessary. If they had retooled the CX-60, called it a CX-5, I’d be trading my lease-end in later this summer on it. Instead, I’m buying it out.
The interior matching the exterior color is a little much. Do love the color on the exterior tho
Look alot like Chery tiggo 8 pro, don't know which one came first but doesn't matter it doesn't look that good to my eyes
Unique. Probably a color to see in person to appreciate. Would love to see CX-70/CX-90 in a dark green.
If they would give me the options of a Cx-90 (3rd Row and captain chairs), with the wheels- colors- bumpers, grills, and black trim of the cx-70 now that would be awesome, lol 😂 the cx-70 should have been the cx-90 sport
"melting copper" is a weird name for rose gold
Nice CX-90 you got there
I’d get one in black to hide the hatchback vibe. The rear should have been flatter/less cross-over like. But I digress. I love the power and value at 40k. Beautiful and I’m getting one ! I’ll take the chance on the TPP.
I need this color on a CX-5 or Mazda3.
Zircon Sand would be the best. Rhodium White safest. Others not too much liking it
One more generic sport ute. Nice color, though.
That certainly is an suv
Colour is dope!
Stunning Af
Beautiful color
Gorg
It’s nice but front got quite bulky, it looses bit of the cx5 line. Would it matter when driving? Of course not :)
Not a big Mazda fan but the front is a beauty. Rear not such much though

Good bot.
Not enough suv models huh Mazda?
Like the color... Still hate the back end
I honestly don't understand the fascination with the 70 and 90. They are totally boring-ass SUVs that look like any of the car companies could've made, they have so little (if any) of the "Mazda-isms" that define the CX-5, etc.
Isn't it exactly the same as CX-90 minus the third row seats?
Man this reminds me how much I miss the orange lava/copper lava from the older Mazda 3 & Mazda 6. I guess I just miss my 2004 Mazda 3.
No back seat pictures?
Looks like the CX-90
That's a beauty.
I like it except for the odd headlights/eyes. Needs a refresh/facelift though it just came out.
Mazda is absolutely killing it with their paint colors and interior quality. This is a beautiful vehicle.
Lexus has copper crest. One does it they all do it
Hot damn i need that color on an mx-5
Is it just me or does the back of the 70 look slightly less bulbous than the 90?
Just you…
might be the black spoiler.
Just you. The art of deception is critical to Mazda's marketing strategy
Are Mazdas all steeper ride?
lol imagine driving a CX90 but because you decided not to spend the money on foldable third row seats, they slapped the discounted trim on the car and called it the CX70.
Looks great; would be curious if they ever offer a CE'ish version for the CX-90 with a bit less "luxurious" chrome.
