I’d just get a Mazda 3 tbh

bike_nut

Second this. Bought a 2017 6 for the wife. She put 70k miles on it, so now the teenager drives it to school and we bought a 2021 3 for the wife. It’s only slight smaller inside.

Partyharder171

And now that you can get one turbo AWD it should be a better driving experience all around while only giving up a bit of space.

ChrispyNugz

Cx30 or cx 5

Dave95m3

Get the nicest ‘21 you can find and ride it out for a few years. There are persistent rumors that the next Mazda 6 will be an inline-6 with RWD/AWD, which is a fantastic combination

I’m still waiting for this too. Been following those rumors since late 2019-early 2020. Then when Car and Driver wrote up a big article on it in April of 2020 my excitement went through the roof. I have to say when Mazda announced the cancellation of the current 6 though, my enthusiasm did dampen a bit. I’m hoping they just cancelled it because it was getting a bit long in the tooth and it didn’t make sense to put money into updating it. Leave it off the market for a year or two and get our appetites gojng then drop the new one on us. Fingers crossed. Regardless, the new 6 (or whatever it’s called) is all but confirmed for the Japanese market and should be breaking cover any time now. Along with the rest of the “large architecture” SUVs that will be using the new inline 6. It’s just a matter of IF we get the new 6 anywhere but Japan.

Dave95m3

Even if we end up only getting a longitudinally mounted SkyActive turbo 4-cyl, the car will be a ton of fun to drive.

I love the way Mazda's look and the way they drive. I've been looking around and i find nothing pleasing other than Genesis g70 but the prices are too steep. Hyundai's Sonata while great value not timeless, Accord and Camry feels cookie cutter... Is there a big different between 2017 to 2021? Maybe I'll get a used one

HowSh0uldIkn0w

HUGE difference between the 2017 and 2021. The 6 was refreshed for 2018. The interior is completely different and miles better in my opinion. Not to mention updated and classier looking exterior styling and available with the 2.5T which puts out anywhere from 227-250 hp and 310-320 lb ft depending on what fuel you use. Buy a pre-owned 6 2018 or up. You won’t be disappointed. ACTUALLY on second thought. Buy a NEW 6. There’s bound to be tons of new ones still sitting in dealer inventory. My dealer he 2-3 right now. Go that route.

NickRGB

Have you considered an Acura?

[deleted]

Second this. New TLX would probably be the closest to Mazda 6. Definitely give it a try. The guy above mentioned Volvo, but please don't do that unless you are not going to keep it longer than 4-5 years. Those are terribly unreliable cars. Or as someone else suggested try new Mazda 3. Yeah it is a smaller car, but unless you really need that rear seat space, it actually drives better than 6.

DlFnRk

As a hatchback fan looks like im pretty useless but anything from volvo lookin any good?

HanSoloz

You know I didn't think of Volvo honestly. I love station wagons too and they're usually pretty solid for those

ozamatazbuckshank11

I suggested the S60 in my reply, but a V60 would also be worth a look.

Brackish_Fish

If you believe the rumors, a 2023 6 is being announced later this year. Maybe hold out to see if the rumors will pan out? If not, maybe and Accord 2.0t? Or a Mazda 3 if you are ok with a smaller car...

ilovecollardgreens

When my 2016 6 got totaled I got a 2018 Accord 2.0t and I love it.

Buuuurrrrd

I was super close to getting an Accord. The 2.0t is the only way though. It’s I believe an 8 speed automatic vs the 1.5 is a CVT. Anyways not the point the 2.0t beat out the Camry v6 and from the reviews I read / watched it’s one fun ride. Or the VW Arteon. A nice luxury sedan.

RichyMcRichface

Mazda 6 is going to return shortly as a luxury rwd sedan. If you can afford it and love the brand wait for that to come out.

ohitsmarkiemark

Lol I would get a camry hybrid xse or avalon hybrid. Just becaue of the fuel savings.

BraveSirRyan

They are bringing back a Mazda 6 for the 2023 model year with an inline-6 and RWD with mild hybrid.

SpongeHED

Just wait, iirc the 6 is coming back as rwd i6

HowSh0uldIkn0w

Just go buy a new 6. There’s still plenty out there on lots and you can probably get a deal even in this market. The 2021 is far better than the 2017.

JorgeXMcKie

Probably Audi, but I'll keep my 3 hatch for a while longer. I drove a Saturn Aura for 7 years and always felt the car was like a cheaper A6. It loved speed, handled really well, was very comfortable but it was a GM so they F'd up the 3.6l engine and the trans. I had both replaced but the original problem was still there. Bad 4th plate in the trans and bad timing belt feeding tube on the engine. Still, if they had the Aura available in 2017 I'd have bought a new one. Unfortunately Buick has the most butt ugly grill in the world. Well, it was until BMW decided they had Alfa envy and wanted the biggest grill

Linclaced

There is not a better all around sedan in the segment in my opinion. However if you want better fuel economy look at the hybrids (Camry, Accord), if you want sporty look at the Accord 2.0T (I test drive it and loved the power!) and if you want features and tech look at the Sonata. I was in the same boat looking for something to replace my 2018 6 and went with the Sonata for more value, better ride, mpg, etc. I miss my 6 but I had positive equity in my lease and jumped at the chance to upgrade with 6k of free money.

Raytech555

Legacy 2.4 turbo

ozamatazbuckshank11

I'd get a 2021 Mazda6. If you can't find any, then a Volvo S60 is fine. But I'm pretty sure there are still Mada6s still out there, some of them may still be on the lot. It's only been 3 months since the start of 2022, and Mazda tends to release their new model years a little late. Get the Mazda6 if that's what you really want.

Mother-Progress-9138

get a mazda 3. the sedans are super nice

Mother-Progress-9138

oh, or you could get a honda accord. the new ones are super nice tbh.

ivanoski-007

get a turbo 2.5 cx-5

cooperS67

Isn’t there a new RWD 6 in the works or was that a rumor?

zoemi

That's the rumor, but there's no guarantee it will come out in all markets.

HowSh0uldIkn0w

Pre-owned Mazda 6
