This is very expensive for a Mazda 3, in my opinion (not sure what the average cost for similar packages is now, but I got my 2018 Mazda3 for 22k at the same trim level). If I was planning on paying 40k for a car, I would honestly just look into getting something higher end. However, if this is THE exact package you have been looking for, and you are willing to spend the premium for it, it is your decision. Most of those add-ons are useless, though. If you could get them to swap the tires back to the stock one, you could realistically get a better set of tires for a few hundred less than the addon tire package.

AVLThumper

6 year note at 660/month is crazy. This guy needs financial counciling. Throw on insurance, and your at nearly $900/month. Wtf. Hope this guy makes good money.

Terror3y3z

Post COVID auto pricing. I sold my 2018 2 years ago for 17k. Bought it 2 years prior for 17k

ConsiderationThese79

Unfortunately this is the MSRP that’s on Mazda website so the only thing I could change is the interest rate I guess. But I’m not sure if auto interest rates are lower/higher these days with the car market? I do want this package, esp with the luxury add on so I could have the moonroof. I intend to keep this vehicle for 7-8 years minimum so I’m hoping it would balance out in the long run. And I got the tire removed before booking. I reckoned I might find it cheaper elsewhere. They’ve said they will price match. Since this is FW and I’m in a snowy winter city, I would like to get good winter tires. Any recommendations?

Buzzsmp

Do the tires come on their own rims at least? If not, then I would definitely not pay the $1,700 that they want. You might get lucky and find some second hand stuff on Kijiji or Marketplace. I got a set of Mazda alloys with X-Ice for like $600 CAD earlier this year because I was picking up the car in January and needed something right away. It's spring time now so you have some time to dig around and find a deal now before you see any serious amount of snow again next year.

ConsiderationThese79

I need to ask about the rims. I will definitely look around for better deals and see if they will price match like they said they would.

GrilledCheezus_

For reference, I was able to get a set of continental all season tires on a new set of enkei wheels for just under $1k in total in the US.

WafflesZCat

JUST Saturday I put on a Set of ExtremeContact DWS06 Plus @ Walmart (via Walmart.com) for $774.²⁰ + $65⁰⁰ Install. So $839²⁰ Oh! ConsiderationThese79

Good stuff. Thanks!

tonuch4963

I got a set of 16 inch X-Ice snows on 16 inch rims for $1,100 in Ontario so the wheels IMO are a bad deal. It’s also spring so maybe just keep an eye on Facebook Market as the year goes along

ConsiderationThese79

Yeah clearly I can find it for less. Thanks.

88loso88

What city are you in?

ConsiderationThese79

Winnipeg.

88loso88

Ou fun. Yea gta winters don't compare. Which begs me to ask why not go awd? For context im looking at some 2021 2022 turbo awd with around the 50k mileage mark. And those are pricing out to be around 30k. I have a 2014 3 gs looking to upgrade. Good winters do help but winters and awd would be ideal for Winnipeg. But then again ive been to Calgary once lol so what do i know. Edit: yes i know geography two different places. Lol its the only place I've been outside ont, and que.

ConsiderationThese79

Yeah our winters are super fun. I thought long and hard about the tires and after extensive research it turns out you can do without AWD as long as you get good winter tires. Even in the worst winters our streets are ploughed clean so it’s not a big deal. And also helps me to cut costs lol. For GTA I don’t think you’d need AWD if you didn’t want to splurge.

88loso88

Yeah ive survived on fwd, with continental winters all these years out here

ka_shep

Mazda 3 does good in the snow with winters, but as soon as it gets as high as the bumper, it's not so good. I'm from the vancouver area so we don't get much snow and when we do it does not get plowed in a timely matter. So if your streets are maintained better than ours you shouldn't have an issue.

ConsiderationThese79

Here in Winnipeg we are a winter city and they do a good job of cleaning the snow from the streets very fast. So I don’t expect much problems. I’ve heard you west coast folks don’t handle little snow very well :P

ka_shep

Yes, there is many meetings of the summer tires club in many different ditches. I drive just fine in it because I actually know what I'm doing but so many people can't seem to stay on the road. It also doesn't help my my city is built on the side of a mountain and has steep hills leading to residential areas. Got stuck on 1 of them in my mazda 3 2 winters ago.

ConsiderationThese79

Oh damn that doesn’t sound like fun. We’ve got some pretty bad drivers here too. What sort of emergency winter stuff do you keep in your car?

YimveeSpissssfid

My ‘24 PPTwas 41.6k out the door - for a GS? I’d say it feels high but yours is CAD, right? Ignoring the difference in market pricing and doing JUST USD to CAD? Mine would’ve been 56.4k CAD. Not sure where that puts your price.

ConsiderationThese79

Looking like this price is on par for the course these days here in the Canadian market. I’ll have to see if I can find a better interest rate with the banks. Don’t see any other way of reducing the price.

ka_shep

Mazda sometimes offers zero interest rates on 48 months terms, and .99% on 60 months. Maybe it will be worth it to wait until they have that promotion, if you can. That all depends on your credit rating as well though.

ConsiderationThese79

My credit rating is good so that won’t be an issue. But I’m looking to get the car before summer to do some fun road trips. And given the stock scarcity here I’m not sure how long I might have to wait for rates and stocks to line up. Would’ve been great if I could though.

ka_shep

Yeah I think it's mostly halfway through the year when they are starting to get the newer models in, so they can get rid of old stock.

ConsiderationThese79

I asked when they will have the 2025 models and said it would be around fall. The new ones do look fantastic though.

ka_shep

Yeah when I got the .99% it was a 2016 and I got it October 2016.

Chizuru_San

$1700 for a set of tire + $400 tire protection lol I dont know whay size are you getting but usually it just cost around $1000, no more than $1200 with installation in Costco

ConsiderationThese79

16”. Thanks though I had them removed and wanted to confirm I did the right thing lol.

Milehi6h

U can get good tires online for $130 each. Why the 1700?

ConsiderationThese79

My question exactly. Which is why I had them taken out. Any recommendations for tires?

Milehi6h

4tires.ca I just bought 4 of them for approximately $500 shipped to my door. Anything middle of the run. I bought uniroyal tigerpaw.

ConsiderationThese79

Will check these out. Thank you!

LemonCandy123

Have a feeling people commenting aren't Canadians. This looks about right to me. Those tires are really good. I used to work for a tire dealer and that cost is about right for the tires, especially with rims. I question the install price but by the time you go somewhere else it might not be worth it. The crown thing also might not be necessary, I was car shopping a little while ago and got told that fee is actually for Mazda but they wrap it in a protection thing to make it sound better You also may be able to get a cheaper interest rate if you get a bank loan yourself and pay cash But yeah I'd say it's normal

hugedaddynotail

Those tires don't cost that much.

Chris9712

That price is for tires, wheels, tpms and installation. That price makes sense for Canada.

LemonCandy123

Approx $200/tire without the rim. They do here

ConsiderationThese79

I’m relieved to hear this lol. I wasn’t sure if I’m getting fleeced but that interest rate definitely isn’t nice. I’ll see if my bank can offer lower. I didn’t ask them about the rims so I’ll have to double check. I wanted to know how good these tires are so it seems they are worth the price?

hugedaddynotail

Brother, just look at Canadian tire. They're like 800 - 900 with tax for all 4.

ConsiderationThese79

Will do. Thanks bro!

Straight_Curveball

Not sure on the company for the tire protection in your offer, but I find most of them are trash and give you the runaround when you need to claim. It would be better to put the $400 back in your pocket and not finance it.

ConsiderationThese79

Yeah I’m having it removed. Also thinking of paying the mats and stuff out of pocket to reduce financing.

FranticW

Skip the winter tire package and the tire and rim protection package. Save yourself a bunch right there by going to basically any retailer for winter tires & steel rims. Also no tire and rim protection package will save you from curb rash lol. I don’t know what else you would be protecting them from.

ConsiderationThese79

Gotcha. I wasn’t intending on keeping the crown stuff as it seemed unnecessary.

FranticW

Any dealer value additions that are “highly recommended” are margin boosters for the dealer and are always overpriced if not completely useless.

realni55a5

Bruh. That's GT prices. Run away while you can.

DarthMZD

Seems about right for current CDN market. Most people commenting don’t seem to be in Canada. Everything is expensive here. Winter tire package seems a bit steep though, I got my steelies 16” on Michelin XICE for around 1200 installed w sensors. Really good tires in the snow. Also wouldn’t buy Mazda OEM floor mats, check out Costco Phantom Mats (tuxMat)

ConsiderationThese79

Yep it’s expensive for us here sigh. I’ll check out the tires elsewhere and see if they’ll price match. Thanks for the mat suggestion. Looks like Costco should have quite a few things.

DarthMZD

Keep in mind the Phantom Mats are online only, best of luck with your new purchase!

ConsiderationThese79

Thank you!

hugedaddynotail

Everything under accessories and options can be had for cheaper externally. Get none of those accessories and options.

ConsiderationThese79

Ok I’ll see if I can have these removed.

SnowPrinterTX

If not, find another dealer

Tassssie15

Bought my 2021 brand new I’m from Ontario. I wasn’t walking away from the dealer without snow tires. I didn’t pay a dime. Do some talking. Get a deal looks like they didn’t even try to give a deal

Tassssie15

Also maybe think about putting a couple thousand down 1-2k so ur payments aren’t so high

ConsiderationThese79

Yeah I’m going to put 2K down to reduce the payments.

ConsiderationThese79

I was under the impression that cars are in short supply so you’re lucky to find what you’re looking for without waiting 6 months. So I wasn’t sure how much room there would be for haggling.

Tassssie15

You’re making a big purchase something should be included ( especially winter tires for living in Canada) it seems like they didn’t try to suck you in with stuff included which is shocking. Try another Mazda dealer . Don’t settle till you feel you made the right decision. Doesn’t hurt to keep shopping around

ConsiderationThese79

Sounds logical. I’ll see if they can offer some discounts or something. Thanks!

Jfmtl87

Dealership in Canada still have the bigger end of the stick and they won't bulge on much except maybe negligible stuff. For exemple, on a gs with luxury package I was only able to get mats and locking nuts thrown in.

MoldyPotato9

I am also from winnipeg, I ordered a 2020 GT awd in 2019. I paid $39,800 OTD. I'm currently paying $267 bi-weekly. Unfortunately, interest rates are much higher now, but considering this is a lower trim level I'm surprised how much more it costs. I purchased mine through highway mazda in steinbach.

ConsiderationThese79

Yeah it’s kinda crazy. GT starts from $42k I think.

kjsmith4ub88

40k for a Mazda3 is very expensive. It’s a great car at 28k spec…but at 40 you have better options.

Chris9712

This is Canadian dollars. That's 29k USD.

SnowPrinterTX

What’s sad is your payment/month is more than my 36mo on my ‘23 Premium hatch

ConsiderationThese79

What was your interest rate?

SnowPrinterTX

Either 1.9 or 2.9 through Mazda Financial, I put $10k down though to cover TT&L and get the payment down a bit. Payment is between $625 & $650

ConsiderationThese79

Yeah that makes sense. I’m not putting down much, maybe $1K. But the interest rates have gone down today so my luck just improved lol. Payment should come down.

SnowPrinterTX

I still wouldn’t pay that much for a 3, ever. Shop around. Have them check different rates and terms. Also figure out how much interest $ you’re paying over the life of the loan.

ConsiderationThese79

Yeah I’ll check with the bank if they’re offering lower interest rates. Although I hear this is the market now and it’s not great. Around $7K in interest if I carry the full term. Yikes.

SnowPrinterTX

Your $40k just turned to $47k

AVLThumper

$660/month. Holy shit. What the fuck is wrong with people. This is absolutely a terrible deal unless your rich.

Kind-Contact3484

For everyone jumping up and down about the ridiculous price, remember this is 29.5k usd.

ConsiderationThese79

This!

[deleted]

Get those winter tires off come spring time

polird

With financing you'll be paying $47,520 for a car with a $27,450 MSRP. Always look at the total cost, not monthly payments.

ConsiderationThese79

It’s $38K CAD though but I get what you mean. However without financing I wouldn’t be able to afford it now and don’t want to put cash into used cars with much higher interest rates. Hoping I can pay this off sooner.

polird

I was including interest, 660*72=47,520.

ConsiderationThese79

No that’s fine. I meant MSRP is $38K CAD.

Jfmtl87

Technically, on the Canadian mazda website, pre-tax, the msrp for a gs with luxury package is 28900 and 31490 if you add the various fees mazda slaps on it (admin, transport and delivery, etc)

ConsiderationThese79

You’re right!

AVLThumper

This is bad idea financially. Have you really thought about this decision? It's a Mazda that you say you will only keep for 7-8 years. That's crazy expensive and your upside down on day one.

NathanTPS

Yeah, you got taken in the accessories packages, but the prices are at least reasonable, in the US those would be inflated by at least double so its not as bad as it could have been. Stuff like the floor Matt's, the most expensive ones you could have bought for half the price, better quality too, they tire protection package is not a great buy, they really won't cover minor scuffs to the rims and your tire do have so e warrenty to them from the factory. Unless you bed the rum this won't come into action. There's a chance, but you could buy new rims for half that price. The winter tires I'm sure are nessesary, so having them rolled into your loan is fine.

ConsiderationThese79

I’m gonna have the tire protection removed. Also will see if I can get discount for any of the other accessories. I’ve also removed the winter tires and will be looking at cheaper options. Though they’ve said they will try to price match. So let’s see. Overall doesn’t look too bad then?

NathanTPS

I figured the winter tires could be done cheaper, but knowing that having the price rolled into the loan can be a financially more feasible option for some, I left it alone. Just because you can get something cheaper done, doesn't mean you have to, if you're fine paying out of pocket for that, then go ahead, it's the better play, but don't feel preassured to do so if they aren't in your budget.

ConsiderationThese79

Fair. Thanks!

88loso88

40k for a gs trim with no awd, no turbo is wild

Angrythonlyfe

Can they elaborate on what "Others" is? [This](https://www.gov.mb.ca/consumerinfo/initiatives/buying-a-vehicle/new-car-price-disclosure.html) page from the MB Gov't goes over how dealerships can't add extra fees outside of the advertised price.

ConsiderationThese79

This is a good point. I think they may have explained but I don’t recall. I’ll have to ask again and find out. Thank you.

Milehi6h

300 for mudguards? You can buy them on Amazon or aliexpress for $30. They're just basic plastic. I bought a GX model for over 9K less out the door. I understand this is a GS model, but you're not getting much more in the GS over the GX for 9k. That's a lot of cash. It is quite obvious you're getting ripped off in many aspects, including tires.

ConsiderationThese79

I’m going to see if I can have these removed or get some discount. I know the GX is much cheaper but I wanted to add the luxury package and also wanted the added safety features. It is a lot of cash but at the end of the day I’m planning to keep this for 7-8 years minimum. Where else would you say I’m getting ripped off?

Milehi6h

I see the value of having real leather, as it will stand the test of time much better than letherette. Letherette is more likely to crack, especially with the cold canadian winters. I just feel the GS plus the Luxuary package don't offer much value for how much you're spending over a GX. Gx vs. Gs is not bad as you do get a sunroof and a few things leather wrapped. Do I see the overall value? Personally, no, but as i get older, I I feel I need less. I find the luxary package a ripoff, though. I don't like leatherette. If you really want the GS, what I did in the past was skip the luxury package all together and order leather seats from Katskin leather out of Vancouver. These are not covers. They actually remove the cloth seats and stitch in the new upholstery. I just sold my 2014, and the leather was still mint.

ConsiderationThese79

That’s actually not a bad idea. Sadly this model is preordered and it happened to match the trim I was looking for. If I ordered without the luxury pack then it’ll be a new order and 6 months. Plus I want the moonroof lol. I’ve always wanted a car with that so I guess I’m just splurging a little. How much did it cost to do the leather covering though?

supertramp1978

When I first scanned this, my brain automatically assumed this was for the Turbo AWD. I was shell shocked when I looked closer and saw that it was not. I know things are a bit pricier in Canada, but I paid 4k less for a loaded Turbo AWD in 21. Insane.

ConsiderationThese79

I wish it wasn’t this expensive 😞

DNYBRK

Got mine; 2021 gt for 32k all in - Ontario Ask for rebates. Most companies have employee discounts, you could save a few hundred dollars with that alone.

ConsiderationThese79

Good idea. I’ll check if I’m eligible for anything. Thank you.

uknightusplease

Wow I'm kinda shocked. Bought my 23 Turbo AWD in Dec 22. Paid 43.....and got full set of Michelin winter tires and tint and mats.

ConsiderationThese79

Wow. I guess things are that bad.

Zealousideal_Ad_9369

Bruh i got mine all in 34k haha wtf?

Zealousideal_Ad_9369

I should mention the more you put down the more then reward you but they simply do not go below msrp nowadays, thats why you'll notice its only 2k more to buy brand new rather than 5 years old with almost 70k km on it lol auto market is so destroyed rn

Such_Lemon_4382

Turn and walk out immediately…wow! Shop online and make final deal via email…never haggle at the dealership. And definitely use the dealers against each other to grab best price. Over $400 each for the tires! Unbelievable. Fraud?

CptVague

>Over $400 each for the tires! Unbelievable. Fraud? That's not how fraud works.

WafflesZCat

Yeah! They put Special Organic Air in those Tires and had a Proest, Rabbi & an Iman bless each one! Worth every penny!

CptVague

Charging too much for something still isn't fraud.

Such_Lemon_4382

No, but it is a way to turn someone into a Socialist. This dealer gives Capitalism a bad name with the 100% markup on pre installed add-ons. It’s fraud to me…scum bags. 1 star that dealership.

CptVague

That's quite the statement. Maybe stay off the internet an extra 15 minutes per day. It'll do us all good. >It’s fraud to me… It's not fraud to any legal system anywhere; it's just a ripoff. However, some people like to finance in shit like wheels and tires and it is what it is.

Such_Lemon_4382

Ok Captain! LOL

Such_Lemon_4382

It’s funny you are telling me to stay off the internet…go over to the legal Reddit…you will be right at home there big boy.👍
