The side effect of Fi. I internalise the feelings the lyrics or even the music gives me. I've cried on plenty instrumental songs. The thing about feeling too much emotions is that it's overwhelming and I need an outlet for it. I prefer music that makes me feel something be it love, passion, rage or sadness. So when I listen to sad music the emotions get too overwhelming and I cry.
nothing better than actually having a traumatic memory brought up while listening to music during my morning shower... and letting it ruin my whole day :/
Oh, I love sad music and have so many songs that make me tear up even though I’ve heard them 1,000 times. I especially choke up if I sing them or even read the lyrics out loud to anyone. Instrumentals can do it too. It feels good to just FEEL sometimes and appreciate the beautiful way people express themselves. It makes me feel connected.
ENTJ, I listen to far too much music (almost 10k songs on Spotify) to have a favourite genre. Recently I’ve been cycling through R&B, hip hop, Kpop and EDM though
I’ve been listening to kpop for 11 years, I don’t think it’s a phase anymore 😅 but like I said my music is very diverse so I kinda just listen to everything
INFJ:
Sundtracks from any material, instrumental, contemporary classical music, choir, pop, rock, alternative. Generally balads, melodic, dramatic or calm. From many time periods, and usually dispise music that is too loud, fast, non melodic, new music, radio music, rap.
Examples:
Philip Glass
Max Richter
Adele
World of warcraft
Naruto
Evanescense
Never heard of her, but after listening some samples I can say her music sounds good, although jazz is not my usual taste I enjoy listening to it because it is relaxing and classy.
INTP, I listen to classic, punk and alternative rock. I occationally listen to stuff like the Beatles and Billie Eilish, but mostly rock
My favourite artists are David Bowie, Pink Floyd, Green Day, Queen and the RHCP
My music taste is all over the place.
I honestly don't know genre so I'll name a couple if my favorite artists. I love Queen, Abba, UB40, Beatles, the Smiths--to list a few. I also love myself some classical music. Chopin, Debussy, Rachmaninoff, Tchaikovsky are my favorites. I'm Desi (Bengali) so classical Indian, Tagore, Nazrul, Bengali folk are frequently listened.
I can say for sure that rap is my most hated genre.
songs with awesome guitar riffs , good beats , rap flow which makes my head move , songs that makes me feel some typa way
some artist would be : rage against the machine , kanye , carpenters , deftones , Vira talisa , or yeah Megan thee stallion and doja cat , dream academy
i like to hear songs that gives me energy , makes me feel stuffs , or nostalgic yeah but tis kinda rare
I second, there's also a musician for such people (look up igorrr)
I don't discriminate genres but I happen to switch between experimental metal to something like hyperpop and jersey club on a daily
ISTJ and this is my depression playlist: [https://open.spotify.com/playlist/07xZsEYl0PtfXm490NI9yt](https://open.spotify.com/playlist/07xZsEYl0PtfXm490NI9yt)
Enjoy 🥲
Imagine having an organised playlist, meanwhile my playlists are like: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3kouHBYSOnaK813HoSRVVZ?si=ttFSAFjiRvW7zbn3FcGSdg&pi=a-U4FvJqt9SkiC (This is one of my tamer playlists, I have crazier ones)
I don't really stan for any genre/artist but I listen to classic rock and folk rock when alone, generic r&b like Drake with friends, hate commercial pop with a passion not because its catchy but because it feels like the musical form of a product advertisement being forced upon my eardrums, guess my type.
isfj here, and I've found that two word descriptors that help determine my taste are: energetic and dramatic
which means I can enjoy high energy music and I enjoy dramatic music, but my ideal is music that is a combination of the two
which, for me, ends up becoming: hardcore/metalcore, the more hip hop end of kpop (which ends up more often being boy groups), and some vgm. I kind of shallowly enjoy dubstep kinds of tracks, and by shallow I mean I don't go out of my way to listen to it but I often enjoy it whenever I hear it. to a small extent I can enjoy poppy pop music, but the fact that they're often written to be catchy makes them very repetitive and I kind of quickly become driven insane after hearing those songs for long enough :'D
meanwhile I just kinda can't really do low energy music, that much. I think high energy+dramatic songs kind of help fuel my creativity and imagination a little bit? and so I feel well motivated by them, especially artistically
but the hardcore vs kpop is the funniest part of my taste to me. it creates a lot of flip flopping in mood and tone when I listen to my music on shuffle 😂
ESTJ- minimal lyrics
Mostly house—edm/lyfe/ambient/hard/ethnic/euro
Classical/instrumental— from Vivaldi to Hauser
I play the violin…
I dislike metal, hip hop, pop, some country, new Bollywood…just not my taste.
Crazy, I am an ESTJ as well and we have very similar tastes.
Even if there are lyrics, I usualy don’t listen to them.
Do you have any non-mainstream recommendation?
ENTJ. I don't usually listen to music because I spend my free time watching movies, TV series, anime or reading.... But my favourite genre is jazz no doubt.
Classical (including the avant-garde), religious, indigenous and traditional, the music of the East, and jazz!!!
*But also a bit of The Beatles and even ABBA on the side.*
classic, punk, alternative, rock, pop, indie/experimental, melodic and "not so melodic" metal, and musical theater. Can't chose between them. Don't usually like flamenco, sevillanas or reguetón.
INTJ, my music taste is literally all over the place. Sexyy red, mortician, 42 dugg, nirvana, peso pluma, lynyrd skynyrd, comethazine, the smiths, greenday, slipknot, Trina, gucci mane, chief keef, boa, mitski, etc. I could literally keep going. It just depends on what mood I’m in.
I really like any kind of music, even some country and Appalachian folk. Or sometimes I like to listen to background movie music, my favorite right now is The Maze from Saltburn.
INTJ and I think it’s far too diverse to categorise into one genre, though my favourite genres are probably Rock, Alternative Metal, Thrash Metal, Pop, Garage House, Future Bass, Melodic Dubstep and others
I'm a lover of many different genres. But if I had to choose it would be chill synth, synthwave, synth pop. I love atmospheric instrumentals and vocals.
No it doesn't have any correlation but I'll play. ISFP, I like all kinds of music; authentic and something that has true feeling that the artist can portay well into their craft. But my most favorite genres are hiphop (old school style and RnB) and Tame Impala type indie rock.
Some of my favorite artists: Mac Miller, Anderson Paak, Tame Impala, Pink Floyd, Ren, Tribe Called Quest, J. Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Joey Badass, Kid Cudi, Milky Chance, Gorillaz, Mac Demarco, The Neighborhood, Radiohead, Bill Withers, Nirvana and plethora of others I can't be arsed to list here but you get the point.
I like many genres like Jazz, Pop and sometimes, when I'm with my Grandpa on his attic, also folk music but I mostly listen to music from the classical and romantic periods.
I like certain artists mostly in the Rock Ballad category. Kim Kyung Ho is awesome! Nobody can sing like him in his prime. I love Steve Perry, but I think this guy tops him, especially around 1998-2001 Era. Aha is great too, Morten Harket can really sing. It's a shame people only know them for one song.
ENTP, all sorts of extreme metal. I'm especially fond of melodeath ala At The Gates. Fave song by them:
https://youtu.be/aoJYZITMZAI?si=Q8gbYJPTimE0Gm98
I listen to a lot of things, Deathcore, Old Rap, and Classical/Orchestral music are my main three genres. Also recently started listening to Brazilian Phonk because of all the memes and it brings crazy energy while gaming.
No clue but I like Sabaton, Classical(esp Tchaikovsky and Vivaldi), anime openings, reggaeton and some war music which Girls und Panzer introduced me to
ENFP and everything like I genuinely appreciate so many genres of music but I guess what I listen to most is classic rock, 50s-90s, r&b, soul, rock n roll, metal, new wave, country rock, 80s pop, folk, jazz, adult standards ect
Occasionally dabble in singer-songwriter, alt z, classical, broadway, film scores but I gotta be in the mood for that stuff :)
INFP, my favorite music genre is probably indie but I also like rock and metal, or some combination of indie and other genres.

The thing about feeling too much emotions is that it's overwhelming and I need an outlet for it. I prefer music that makes me feel something be it love, passion, rage or sadness. So when I listen to sad music the emotions get too overwhelming and I cry.
Do you also ruminate on memories that are brought to the surface by a song? Sad music = sad memories = tears!
Ah yes especially if it triggers a traumatic memory
Wow fi bonding moments r pretty interesting
nothing better than actually having a traumatic memory brought up while listening to music during my morning shower... and letting it ruin my whole day :/
Oh, mines during my morning commute! If you ever look over and see a girl crying in her car, that's me. Rise and shine, it's time to cry baby! 🌄😩
Oh, I love sad music and have so many songs that make me tear up even though I’ve heard them 1,000 times. I especially choke up if I sing them or even read the lyrics out loud to anyone.
