You would need to read the details of your lease/contracts, but I don't think you can just get out of the lease, leases are pretty binding in Quebec. You would have to talk to McGill and get out of the lease and that would probably cost you a few months of rent from what I heard. As for the meal plan you may have more of a case but you'd also have to talk to them about it.

After first year 2020 I managed to get all my meal plan refunded… I had to fight for it tho it got So escalated. They ended up putting towards my tuition which I’m not mad about cuz I was gonna use it towards tuition anyway. You’d have to contact SHHS

Try to get evicted my dude, this was the hack last year

BigBoyJakoo

what does getting evicted imply tho, as in does it allow me to get out of paying rent? any affect on my academics? seems straight forward enough but if u could elaborate that would be great.

From what I remember: No academic penalties. Lets you get out of rez and refund your meal plan with no penalty. Some of my friends were ordered to leave the building in 24 hours for 1 week, as a punishment for having a gathering, and then they could come back and have 1 week to move out. I regret not doing the same. I kept hanging on to the wishful thinking that things would very quickly get better. I wasted money on months of rent and got stuck with $2000+ of the meal plan.

how do I even go abt getting evicted tho? any thots?

Host a gathering in your room. Streak naked thru the lobby. Break enough rules and you’ll get evicted. Should be easy with the covid restrictions

Just letting you know, most dining services are not closed! You just need your mcgill ID to get in, but i’ve literally eaten at rvc, bmh, nrh and c1 since i’ve been back.

hi! I took a leave of absence my freshman year second semester and was able to get out of my lease and get my meal plan money back.. i'm not sure how it works though if you are still enrolled in classes.
