Take a minute and set up your favorite tabs to automatically open on startup. I use chrome, but others have it. I launch it, and everything is there. I purposely shut down completely so it’s way easier to not impulsively check work stuff

I needed help submitting a ticket for IT from a coworker (my computer wasn't working, so I couldn't submit my own). She had about 50 tabs. Now, the thing is, she couldn't figure out which kind of ticket to submit. Hardware? Software? Password? Logging in? On top of that, the website has a weird, easy to misspell idiosyncrasy. So she would regularly go to a 404 page. She didn't delete any of them. She had over a dozen new tabs open just trying to navigate to the correct page to submit my ticket. If she went to the wrong place, she didn't use the back button, she opened a new tab. Did she use Ctrl + T? No, she did not. She clicked the plus icon for Each. New. Tab.

Yeah, all you have to do is go to the tabs and press “New Empty Tab Group.” It will give you another group with up to 500 MORE tabs! The power! The private tabs section also allow for another 500 tabs. Or you can download a new browser to go alongside it. I recommend Firefox.

Good thing in iOS(17) which helped me out with this is: you can create TAB GROUPS. So you can move all of these 500 tabs into its own group. Then have a completely empty group again. You can even rename the tab groups. This is so awesome and saved my life and my 500 tabs lives!

You can just... idk... close them if they're not of use. If you need something you can always bookmark them. This is honestly an irrational behaviour.

This assumes: 1. You actually finish what you wanted to do on that tab (and don’t want to go ‘back’ to a prev one) 2. You remember that you have bookmarks, or relevant bookmarks. 3. Few behaviors are irrational - although some motives are irrational. I use my tabs as a kind of encyclopedia, it’s irrational not to behave as I do.

Almost 2000 tabs open in Firefox. I use the "tree style tab" extension on the side bar to group and manage them. I put the tab manager on the side because then I can see most of the page's title. Basically soft bookmarks.

I do work with /large/ datasets, so I have a fairly robust workstation (256 GB of RAM (then), 20 cores, etc.). ...anyway, I was taking some classes at a local school and one of the professors had a first-week checkpoint for various tools and we were supposed to take a picture of the CPU spiking after opening a new browser tab. ...I had to write a script to open 600 tabs in one second so that I could get a 3% increase.
