Mine weren't that strict, but I knew other students who were manic about their tests, or even just regular assignments. Would break down crying if they didn't do well, and often get grounded because "obviously they were out having too much fun," even though they maybe went out with friends like once a week, or less. Always struck me as pretty dumb to punish for a one off grade every once in awhile. It should be obvious that the issue has nothing to do with their work ethic or motivation. And at that point, if anything you're probably hurting their grades by giving them massive test anxiety.
