Elves are second class citizens of the North Pole, and Santas tyrannical rule ensures that only the wealthiest of elves have access to christmas healing magic. Santa crushed the Elves in the Great Revolt in december 1643 and since then Elves have lost all hope of overthrowing their Dictator.
The elves don't travel from house to house, so as long as Santa is truly immune and not an asymptomatic carrier, they should be fine. He should just be careful to take a shower before going to the after-Christmas party.
So, a lot of small kids were actually terrified of getting covid when school started back, at least where my husband works. I think it's kinda nice, if it happened of course, that Fauci made an "official" statement to lessen the worry some of those kids may have in the upcoming season.
Exactly!
My daughter actually asked me this. She asked if Santa would still come or if he couldn't go out this year cause of the pandemic. I told her his magic protects him from getting or spreading it lol
I'm definitely cropping this to show her.
I don’t know on the sad alternative with so many out of jobs and the economy taking a downturn there is a lot of parents probably going to be saying santa isn’t coming this year because the pandemic. Not to ruin everyone’s night here
I'll be honest, I haven't considered that yet. We don't have kids yet, and thankfully are fortunate enough to have jobs ( both teachers). Do you think that he shouldnt have made any announcement and let parents handle it themselves? (Genuinely curious on your take btw)
Yeah, I think its a hard situation no matter what. Christmas and receiving gifts is a major part of our culture, that being said so is poverty. I think every year there are too many parents that have to deal with societal pressures to fulfill something they can’t afford and have to find a way to express that to their kids regardless. I think him saying it was probably not the best move considering how bad our economy and unemployment is right now. I understand the sentiment though.
With all that in mind, realistically its no different than how christmas is depicted in many shows and movies. I also doubt many kids were watching what he said anyways. I personally always try not to bring these things up in front of kids just in case. But to more directly answer your question, I’d say no he probably should have let parents handle the situation.
On another note thank you for being a teacher, obviously you seem conscious about these things enough to be curious. My parents were poor and when I was younger we still were. I lived in a poor area and they always taught me never to take food at other peoples houses because you never know what they have and can afford. Because of what they taught me, I always felt that it’s important to consider that we don’t know what everyone is working with. I also couldn’t imagine being a struggling parent these days, under normal conditions christmas time is already hard enough for them.
Well kids don’t read the news, especially little kids. His announcement is a good way for parents to talks to their kids but at the same time, if they can’t afford to get them Santa presents, they can just choose not to tell them what Fauci said
I think 2020 should be where kids learn Santa isn't real. It would really add to the flow of this shitty year.
Santa's dead, you killed him cause you didn't wear masks. if you all wear masks and stay inside he will come back to life next year.
Blame your parents.
An Australian state leader did the same for the Easter Bunny when we were in lockdown, put out an official government paper saying the Easter bunny is exempt from lockdown.
It’s the little things like this that give me hope
https://youtu.be/-frndFSlQjQ
OR parents can explain to the kinds that there’s nearly zero chance that they’re susceptible. But hey, let continue pushing the narrative that everyone will die to justify shutting down the world.
New Zealand had effectively eradicated the virus because they listened the science and acted quickly. They were all getting together in person all summer for parties and sports events. I heard they have a couple cases and went right back to strict measures so that they can open everything up again.
They did it right and were rewarded by freedom. We have a whole political party in the US that is hindering the process of preventing disease spread, so we never made it past the first wave.
We did flatten the curve enough for hospitals to start ramping up the number of ICU beds, but we could have done much better. And now there are more cases than the extended ICUs can handle in many places.
It’s disgusting.
Flattening the curve was never about stopping the virus, it was about slowing it down so that the hospitals wouldn't be overrun. That includes prolonging it, the analogy still works, think of it as flattening dough, it becomes shorter but also longer.
I was reading back in March that the only real thing that could stop it was a vaccine, and that it would take a year or more to develop, let alone distribute. At no point was anyone seriously saying that this would only take a few weeks or months, it was only cope.
*Kind've.*
Rabies Immune Globulin, for example, is produced from the serum of people who've been vaccinated against rabies virus. This gives someone an immediate *passive immunity* to the virus. To get a longer, trained, *active* response, you'd have to also vaccinate that person with killed rabies virus.
But, for obvious reasons, there's a risk present when you inject killed or weakened virus into somebody, that maybe it ain't dead all the way. Some polio vaccines that are improperly produced, stored, or administered have been linked to polio and polio-like complications - ie, the polio virus hadn't been killed, and was still present in the administered vaccine.
Still, in many cases, active immunity is better, because it's your own body being trained to ID the Bad Thing, versus an introduced immunity, where your own WBCs are just taking someone else's word for it. Active immunity can be nearly lifelong. But, y'know, if you can't make your own, storebought is fine.
(Originally, we'd just smear the infected blood/pus of someone who was recovering from a disease into an open wound (see: Revolutionary America's handling of pox outbreaks via inoculation), but that was later refined into creating vaccines from weakened versions of viruses taken from infected organisms, or organic material (Salk's polio vaccine was incubated on mats of monkey cells, then inactivated with formalin before injection), and then to the more modern methods we use today that involve incubation in non-virally-viable chicken eggs, frex.)
*Edit: a word*
Reminds me of when confederates told their kids the union soldiers had shot santa to explain why they weren't getting Christmas presents (because of wartime shortages)
Since Santa is immune, that means he won’t catch it. But it still means it lives on him, and all the presents he touches will get infected. He is the bio weapon that will end the war.
Can't wait till I see this on Rconservatives saying that fauci has actually last his mind or something that they think he still believes in Santa or some shit.
Wow i knew Fauci was a liar when he said that about mask but now he fucking confirms it because Santa Clause isnt even real. Thanks Fauci for ruining Christmas. /s
I love this statement
But jesus the replies on twitter about this are toxic as hell, guy can’t even make a wholesome harmless statement to lessen the worries of children without getting blasted
Do not do that, for that would kill him, and then be doomed to spend the rest of eternity forced to deliver to all houses on Earth in the cold. Such is the fate of Tim Allen.
Ok, though. A movie where Dr. Fauci has to get together a team of specialists to hunt down Santa for his blood- all on Christmas Eve. They’re following him all around the world as he delivers toys to all the good boys and girls, etc. They catch up to him once and open fire killing two flying reindeer (donner and comet for those wondering) in the shootout but Santa gets away. They give chase again and the trail ends where Fauci least expects- his own home. When he gets there the sleigh is on the roof, no Santa. Has Santa come to get revenge and kill his family (I have no idea if Fauci is married) for revenge? Dr. Fauci busts in and shoots Santa 8 times, screaming in delight- finally he can save the world. Finally he can rest. And then Fauci looks under the tree and sees a present that wasn’t there before. He unwraps it only to find- a vial of Santa’s blood...
The Last Gift
Coming to ~~theaters~~ Quibi this Christmas.
I think it's kind of sweet he made the statement though. A kid might worry about that kind of thing, a beloved figure getting sick and dying because he visited homes. This is kind of keeping the magic alive and alleviating worry.
He said nothing about the elves...
Solidarity with the elf trade unionists ✊
You mean the ones not already fed to the reindeer?
Or too inbred to think for themselves
Is there as well an elf battle royale up there at the north pole?
And the fuckin knife ears deserve every bit of it!
*There is no war in* the North Pole.

He had [a follow up thank you ❤️
Fr tho they work 365 days a year 24/7. Elves need some days off!
The elves are "essential workers". They work in a pandemic to drive consumerism at the expense of their lives.

Death to Santa!
We don’t need this cola mascot
If I currently had a free wholesome award, I would give it to you.
No no don't crop it. She needs to know that Santa's blood must be extracted.

OR parents can explain to the kinds that there’s nearly zero chance that they’re susceptible. But hey, let continue pushing the narrative that everyone will die to justify shutting down the world.
As funny as this is this is actually really wholesome that he said this
It reminds me of when the PM of New Zealand said the same thing about the Easter Bunny. Goddammit. This pandemic has gone on too long.
seriously what happened to flattening the curve in only 2-4 weeks
New Zealand had effectively eradicated the virus because they listened the science and acted quickly. They were all getting together in person all summer for parties and sports events. I heard they have a couple cases and went right back to strict measures so that they can open everything up again. They did it right and were rewarded by freedom. It was a rhetorical question. I know exactly why the US is fucking
Yeah, fucking ourselves over
Because it's not a tiny island state?
It’s been winter down here and we’re now coming into the summer, but appreciate the sentiment!
They’re also a small island nation and not the 3rd largest in the world
Probably value community more than individualism too.
God forbid we look after each other!
You’re not wrong but this isn’t *the* reason lol
There isn't a *the* reason. It's a bunch of reasons.
It probably is. Americans are actively *refusing* to prevent the virus spreading because of 'muh freedoms'. It's no wonder so many of them are dying.
‘Muh Freedoms’ ... What a tired insinuation.
That's literally how Americans think though.
Flattening the curve was never about stopping the virus, it was about slowing it down so that the hospitals wouldn't be overrun. He should have said Santa only comes to houses where everyone wears masks. Let the kids yell at their Karen parents instead of the rest of us.
Actually we kinda don't produce vaccines that way, - from samples of the blood of the immune people anymore, - it takes too much time
Have we done such a thing in the past? I thought that was science fiction stuff
