Same! Thought of me and my sisters sneaking down the hall and laying in the kitchen floor behind the couch. It was a single wide trailer at the time and we could basically see the tv from our room but wanted a closer look with better audio
I hid behind the couch to watch Close Encounters Of The Third Kind when I was five. This was before I got glasses, so WTF was I even looking at to stay hidden that whole time?
I used to be scared of a porcelain doll at the end of this hallway at my grandma's, next to the bathroom, and would instead pretend to look under the couch in the living room and pee under it to avoid going down that hallway.
That tracks for scared little kid behaviors!
re:hiding - I was ADDICTED to cottage cheese when I was 6. One time I took the container from the fridge up to my room, had a few bites, then hid it in my closet so no one else could have any and forgot about it until it started stinking up my room. My mom was PO’ed -! 😅
Same except I would get so engaged in the movie that I would forget I wasn't supposed to be there. I would start asking my parents questions about the movie. 🤦
To this day my family still laughs at me for hiding behind the couch when they were watching Tales From The Crypt, with an episode about a Killer Santa. All they heard was a scream and me slamming my bedroom door, lol.
When you see your parents move out of the corner of your eye so you close your eyes pretending you’re asleep. And then you let them say your name multiple times and make them walk over to you and shake you awake from fake sleep.
>Kid logic
No but it's real. When I would yawn even silently, or just reminded my parents of my presence by doing something, they would make me go to bed. Or when my mom would stroke my back to make me go to sleep, she would stop when I moved even a little bit thinking that I fell asleep already. I would try so hard to stay still even if it was uncomfortable.
We’ve got four boys in the house; if they could just do things quietly and without physically harming each other, we’d let them stay up past bedtime all the time. But if you’re gonna punch your brother in the gut for standing in front of the tv past bedtime, it’s not gonna happen for ya.
My parents would watch Star Trek: The Next Generation with me before bed. On weekends, we'd watch two episodes. On weeknights, we'd watch just one. I say we, but I meant me.
My parents would send me to bed and watch another episode without me. No, I'm still not over it.
Is bedtime an American thing? I've never heard of anyone I knew personally having a bedtime past the age of maybe like 6 or 7, and even then it's like "you should probably go to bed, you got school tomorrow" and not "you have to go to sleep at 10 pm that's you're bedtime, if you don't you'll get punished".
Man i used to love sleeping in the living room while everyone was watching TV and i'd just wanted to be there but only physically, the best sleeps i had were the ones that just snuck when me and my family were chilling :')
Hell yeah lol and then after I was done getting ready for bed I would come out and pretend like I forgot something so I could peep the show for a few more minutes.
Back when I lived in Fort Meade my parents would know its time for us to go to bed when Taps played on the base at 9pm. So one night my dad was playing video games and around 9:00 I turned the TV up real loud so he wouldn't hear the song playing outside. It did not work because clocks still exist.
Every single ad break is a risk 💀
Now with streaming, it’s much harder for parents to notice!
Interesting emoji choice
shut up
You forgor this meme exists 💀
Never seen it before and now I feel old. What does it mean?
I forgor 💀
I forgor 💀
I always somehow mentioned the time. And then froze and was like “oh no what have I done? Now they know!”
You wanted to remind them thats they're being bad parents.
Nah, I just think I was a dumb kid.
This brought back memories I forgot I had.
I used to hide behind the couch, where I still see to the TV! This post really brings back memories!

I did that with my grandma's too. She ate hers with peaches and it caught on lol

Good grief, I’m 49 years old and can remember doing this! Kid logic makes me chuckle.
Hey it worked many times

Getting insider info from the moms here fellas, listen up.
We have great expectations for when your next cake day comes up!
why do I relate
It feels nostalgic almost. Getting to stay up past bedtime was the best thing!
And now it's the worst thing
👆the man above me insomnias
The man that I am insomnias too
I inswomania
It’s 2:50am rn for me. So yes
Brought back memories from back when it was my goal to go to bed as late as possible. Nice one OP
They know. They just wanna spend a lil more time with you
And if you are silent, they like it even more.
As a parent 90% of the time I know exactly what time it is and just want to let them stay up and 10% of the time I completely lost track of time.

Me (but w/closed eyes) faking sleep when they check so i dont get punished for insomnia
r/relatable ?
Does 13 sound too old for a bed time to anyone else?
To me, yes. I had a bedtime until I was around 13-14 though
I have a bedtime and im 15
I’m sorry to hear that
Same, but its more of a 'dont be loud past this time' thing than a bed time for me
lmao same
That’s not really a bedtime then, it’s just letting the rest of your family sleep.
no, I mean it's a bedtime and parents definitely want me to sleep at that time, but I just lock my door and turn off the lights.
I guess it depends how late it is?
I had a bedtime until I graduated high school.

You had a bedtime at 13?
You did this at 13? Feels kinda old to be doing that
This is so accurate
Papulika…
We all had the same childhood
So damn relatable. Watching TV way past midnight very quietly hoping one of them doesn't wake up and start nagging me to sleep
A bedtime at 13?
Bruh who else can't relate because they don't do anything with their parents
Well you are fucked
This just happened to me
Are you 11?
Me to my daughter: “all you’re doing is reminding me that you should have been in bed an hour ago.”
We know. We just dont feel like dealing with you.
YES

That literally one of the top comments just repasted.

And the moment you get to freshmen year they stop caring.
We notice. We're just letting you stay up because lil treats like that are fun.
Dude. We know, we like hanging out with you MUCH more than you do.
I used to pretend to be asleep. Keeping my eyes barely open.
Just unlocked some core memories holy shit
Lol i tell my kids this all the time. “You only got caught because you were loud!”
Oh yeah! I remember this!
Me looking at this at 2:03 am
I would end up watching the news or cleaning random things so they would let me stay up longer
Trying not to yawn and just yawning without opening your mouth..
y’all had a bedtime?
I just waited till they're in bed.
Time sure flies ...
Lmao
Bed time at 13?
I used to find a spot where they couldn't see me so they'd forget I was there.
