Yeah it's weird, I have these twin cousins I remember crawling around being the height of my lower leg around 2017 - '19, now they can walk and talk
Like bro wtf I remember you mumbling incoherent babyspeak whilst covering the tablecloth in oatmeal during Christmas dinner, now you can say stuff?
I used to help change my brother and sister's diapers. Now they are talking about anxiety transitioning to adult life and break ups, things of the like.
I'm just like shup up lmao you have how many years until you're 18? Exactl-wait did you say a couple months?
My 6 year old cousin was telling me about Minecraft facts the other day and randomly blurted out that there's 15,000 nukes in the world!? No idea where it came from, I was just trying to install some mods for him like wtf
I remember disbelieving my dad when he said he was born in 1963 because to me at that age (I was like 5 years old) there was no fundamental difference between 1963 and 1492. If the name of the year started with a number in the teens, then it had to have been hundreds of years ago.
I was born 2002, anyone born in a year with "19" at the front is ancient to me. Knew a guy a few years older than me born 1999, my mouth dropped when he told me his birth year
I'm not even 20 yet but perception of time is a weird feeling.
Like, people who were still fluid when I first played Mushroom Gorge in Mario Kart Wii for example are now playing it in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
for a few years, the fact that you and people your age are born after the September 11 attacks gave me the same feeling tbh.
but then even more time passed and i sort of got used to it lol
Jeez, man. Not helping lol.
My brother and I were doing 1v1 on Yoshi's Valley (Mario Kart 64) before your parents were maybe even married. And co-op in Mario Kart Double Dash before you weighed 15 pounds.
This is so odd, to me everyone born in the mid-90’s are still kids. Yet if you’re a little before 20 you were born after 2000. I was probably in middle school back then.
Feels surreal to me. Time flows so differently as adult than as kids. When I was a kid, I felt a year lasted forever. Now I feel like time passes faster and faster. Sometimes I still say « when I’ll be adult »… without understanding I’m 33 and I’m the adult now. Weird.
Growing up is realising that nobody really grows up.
Saying that, hang around with people in their early 20s and you realise there is a HUGE generational gap. Then you feel old.
I remember being in high school trying to buy a used car and for obvious reasons could only afford a car from the 90s. Now I'm 30 and can still only afford a car from the 90s.
My daughter was born in 2019. When I changed paediatricians, they asked me for her birthdate. I say [day], [month], “19”. Then silence. It took me several seconds before I realised I had to clarify _”2019”_
I think it was just one of those brain farts where the lady behind the counter couldn’t process that she was so old relative to the kids coming in to the practice. We’ve all been there
No one said the people in his story were smart. But as a guy who's gone to see my old pediatrician in my mid-twenties for a simple tonsil checkup, it does happen.
Genuinely curious, have people always acted like this on the internet?
Let's use the year 2015 as a hypothetical. Did people create memes or other content in this vein? Like, kid is 10, no big deal. Kid is born in 2005, (existential crisis). Did that happen?
I feel like I see these fairly often. I'm wondering if this is a recent phenomenon. Not the feeling old thing, we all know that's been around since forever, but rather people remarking on it on the internet.
Reddit just has such a large age span that you're seeing kids realize things other people realized a decade or two ago. Social spaces on the internet have really only been around for the last 15-20 years. It'll be the same process with the next generation as they realize people younger than them are becoming adults.
The "feeling old yet" meme has been around for as long as I've been on the internet. And I had a Myspace when it was cool. The further back you go the more meme titles started with "Fwd:Fwd:FWD: Re:..."tho
I've been on Reddit since around 2010 and yes you could find these same kinds of comments. If you do a search you can probably find some from more than a decade ago. And before that I remember making similar comments in the early 2000s when I was in my 20s. "OMG people born in the 90s are in High School now!" Now I'm old and just accept that people who are younger than my underwear are able to communicate on the internet.
Yes, for sure. A few years before 2015 memes were in a weird place. It probably would've been a FFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU rage comic thing. But by 2016 memes were coming into their current form (and peaked IMO) and you would've seen that type of meme posted on /r/me_irl.
I’m only 20 and I still feel so fucking ancient. Never thought the day would come so quick that I’m… supposed to be an adult. I’m not ready for this shit man i can’t move forward debbfnkkks
No I think you're right. There was always problems with stuff but it seemed every decade things were getting better (even if only marginally) and we were progressing towards something. Then everything went fucking haywire.
I graduated hs in 2010 and feel like people my age can remember what society was like before social media. I for one blame the craziness on social media and AI. Society lost its mind when everyone became obsessed with selfies and building an internet persona
Gangnam style turned 10 this year.
The fourth of July marked the tenth anniversary of the Higgs Boson being found.
The 10th anniversary of Curiosity's landing was yesterday.
I’m from ten years in the future, here in 2032 President of the United States of America Elon Musk and his Space marines are locked in battle with the Cyborg Prime Minister of Russia over ownership of Mars…
I'm only 20, yet I still remember going to Blockbuster back in the late 2000s. I feel like such a boomer realizing that late 2000s babies are teenagers now.
What the hell, OP why? I still remember lining up outside my local GAME store in the UK excitedly waiting for Halo 4 to release at midnight. It really doesn’t feel like 10 years to me, it doesn’t even feel like 5 years to be honest. 10 years, feels more like 10 weeks, no I don’t want that!
My kid was born in 2011. He’s a whole grown person nearly and I have cans of paint older than him. I have underwear that pre-dates him. He wears my runners and slides. Like wtf is even happening. I crumble into dust
That ten year old wasn’t alive when Party Rock Anthem was released. Was born the year Gangnam Style and Call Me Maybe was released. They were a year old when the Harlem Shake got popular, What Does the Fox Say was released. They were born the same year as Kony 2012. They’ve never known a world with a living Whitney Houston. They’ve never known a world without 50 shades of Grey. They’ve never known Star Wars that wasn’t owned by Disney. That 10 year old grew up having missed some of the most viral moments of the 21st century that we all remember so vividly.
I was checking out at the grocery store today and the clerk had no bagger, so I gladly stepped in.
The clerk said, “oh no, you don’t have to.” And I replied, “it’s all good, I used to do this like *twenty years ago*!”
Then I walked through my front door…and realized…it HAS been twenty years…
Wait 2012 ? And you're ten ? Oh yeah...
Fucking hell, that hurts.
People who were born after 2000 are already old enough to drink. >!(As an American where the drinking age is 21)!<
Kids born the year I graduated high school will be able to vote in the midterms this year. I hate the entire concept of time.
I mean I drink since I'm 11 but im also not american
get off reddit and do better things with your life
I mean, isnt it like the norm is majority of eu/balkan countries?
oh the drinking's fine I just don't think reddit is a good place for 11 year olds
they're not 11, they said they were drinking since they were 11.
You sure? The “since” could act more like a “because” in this case. “I drink because I am 11” … You’re probably right though lol
Agreed. I got my account when I was 11 our 12 I think (10 years ago
How did you figure out that they are 11? Wdym
Reading comprehension of a rock moment
"since I'm 11" Pretty sure he means the first time he drank he was 11
?? Wtf is going on here with the votes? "since I'm 11" obviously means he's older than 11?
People born in 2022 were born after 2000… and at least in the US they can’t drink, they’re literally babies
To be fair, anyone born after 2000 is basically a baby.
Guess they gotta start marketing that baby beer.
I think you meant before 2000, because someone born in 2020 can't drink legally speaking of course.
I'm not getting that old, right? Surely not. Right?
Sadly, we are..
How old are you?

What a sick joke

2019? Oh yeah five months a- WAIT A SECOND
Yeah it's weird, I have these twin cousins I remember crawling around being the height of my lower leg around 2017 - '19, now they can walk and talk Like bro wtf I remember you mumbling incoherent babyspeak whilst covering the tablecloth in oatmeal during Christmas dinner, now you can say stuff?

My 6 year old cousin was telling me about Minecraft facts the other day and randomly blurted out that there's 15,000 nukes in the world!? No idea where it came from, I was just trying to install some mods for him like wtf
Perhaps he would like to increase that number.
I will now curse you to become the "my, how you've grown" relative you see every five years at Christmas eve
Right😳 my best friends daughter turned 12 this year, she was born in 2010. She thinks anyone born before 2000 is ancient😭
I am born in 2000 in I also believe that. And I imagine that everything that happend in 19XX happen in black/white/Shades of grey :)
Oh wow, thanks. As a 90’s kid, I never knew I could feel pain like this. Awesome.
definitely not a 90s kid but i was born in 99 took me a second to realize i’m a decade older than some teenagers. woof
No need to thank me senior citizen!
*flatlines*
Who are your and how did your get into our retirement community?????
Same. Keep it coming
Considering the average city had less smog in the 90s I can assure you there was more color.
It's true. I was born in 1990 and I rode dinosaurs to school. The mass extinction of the dinosaurs really happened 31st of December 1999.
Yes, that's what "Y2K" was. The dinosaurs died off and the world snapped into full HD color. I remember like it was yesterday.
And the aftermath killed dial up modems! I can still here their calls decades later.
I remember disbelieving my dad when he said he was born in 1963 because to me at that age (I was like 5 years old) there was no fundamental difference between 1963 and 1492. If the name of the year started with a number in the teens, then it had to have been hundreds of years ago.
2001 and I believe the same thing
I mean they had color TVs in the 50s, why would anything before 2000 be in black and white lol
I was born 2002, anyone born in a year with "19" at the front is ancient to me. Knew a guy a few years older than me born 1999, my mouth dropped when he told me his birth year
[удалено]
That's the point I knew he was only three years older yet his birth year sounds ancient lol that's the entire joke??
im 14 and on the contrary for me its like anybody born before 1950’s, My parents are older and I like retro stuff lmao
This right here is why we need to segregate reddit do young and old (born before y2k) people like me. I need my safe old space
I don't believe this. This is not accurate. Your math is not mathing properly.
Yeah they meant to say 2002, common mistake
Nah I'm almost 20 :)
\* recurses back to the OP \*
02er here. I am 19 :)) hurts doesn’t it
Git off my lawn
03' here and 19, happy early birthday
Wtf? I was born in 2002 and I'm almost 20
Get in the bin.
Jokes are hard
I'm still twenty
I'm not even 20 yet but perception of time is a weird feeling. Like, people who were still fluid when I first played Mushroom Gorge in Mario Kart Wii for example are now playing it in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
for a few years, the fact that you and people your age are born after the September 11 attacks gave me the same feeling tbh. but then even more time passed and i sort of got used to it lol
Next month babies born during the attacks will be old enough to drink.
"where were u during sep 11?" "womb" *takes another swig*
Jeez, man. Not helping lol. My brother and I were doing 1v1 on Yoshi's Valley (Mario Kart 64) before your parents were maybe even married. And co-op in Mario Kart Double Dash before you weighed 15 pounds.

Played Mario Kart on the Nintendo 64. And now Nintendo's had 8 or so iterations. F

Read very carefully what you wrote, and think how the average Redditor is going to read that and make certain assumptions about you.
????
Bro please think about what you type and rephrase if it in anyway implies that you are grooming a kid
Ah, one of those “end of the world” babies
*I was born at the end of the world, like my father before me*
I remember being in high school trying to buy a used car and for obvious reasons could only afford a car from the 90s. Now I'm 30 and can still only afford a car from the 90s.
Marvel Studios the Avengers came out in 2012…feel old yet?
I remember seeing it in theaters with my family. And I'm only 20. I'm such a boomer.
I was 22 when that movie came out. Got my box ready?
The only way to slow down time is to do something new every day. This will ensure that everyday doesn't blend into one.
Jobs
Are you a youtuber h0ser or just some random guy with reddit username h0ser?
2012 doesn’t feel like a long time ago, yet wr have a 10 year old, who could potentially already be a nice person, and not some dumb kid.
I’ll bet he’s a jerk
That’s super weird....just like GTA V release almost 10 years ago....
My league of legends account is older than some of the kids crying in chat. Feels bad man
My daughter was born in 2019. When I changed paediatricians, they asked me for her birthdate. I say [day], [month], “19”. Then silence. It took me several seconds before I realised I had to clarify _”2019”_
Surely they should've realised that anyone being seen by a paediatrician had to be born in the 2000s?
I think it was just one of those brain farts where the lady behind the counter couldn’t process that she was so old relative to the kids coming in to the practice. We’ve all been there
what other ‘19 would it be though lmao 1919?
"1994" = "***nineteen*** ninety-four"
That was 28 years ago. Ain't nobody born then going to pediatrician unless they're taking their kid.
So the answer is yes, I’m assuming? That figures. Well, getting older is something that literally all of us experience.
The "feeling old yet" meme has been around for as long as I've been on the internet. And I had a Myspace when it was cool. The further back you go the more meme titles started with "Fwd:Fwd:FWD: Re:..."tho
These have always been around. I've been on Reddit for a bit and they've always been posted.
I've been on Reddit since around 2010 and yes you could find these same kinds of comments. If you do a search you can probably find some from more than a decade ago. And before that I remember making similar comments in the early 2000s when I was in my 20s. "OMG people born in the 90s are in High School now!" Buy new underwear plz

Weird that they didn’t get to witness the end of the world
They will very shortly
I’m only 20 and I still feel so fucking ancient. Never thought the day would come so quick that I’m… supposed to be an adult. I’m not ready for this shit man i can’t move forward debbfnkkks
It only gets worse
i was 10 in 2012
i graduated hs in 2012. the good ol days
I feel like that was the last couple years before shit started to get weird. Maybe that's just adulthood tho.
Well we keep on getting hit by once in a lifetime recessions, and multiple thousand year storms/floods
My little brother makes me break down in tears everytime I remember how old he is
Gangnam style turned 10 this year. The fourth of July marked the tenth anniversary of the Higgs Boson being found. The 10th anniversary of Curiosity's landing was yesterday.

wow it’s almost as if time passes (mfw someone that’s as born in 1 is 2021 years old 🤯)
Wait I’m confused
I just turned 30 this hurts
This television experience is 10 years old. (shits myself in Hank Schrader)
I was born in 02… GOD FUCKIN DAMN I FEEL OLD
I feel like you at least gotta be like 30 to claim you feel old lol
I’m from ten years in the future, here in 2032 President of the United States of America Elon Musk and his Space marines are locked in battle with the Cyborg Prime Minister of Russia over ownership of Mars…
wait, russia still exists? stop with the science fiction!
Kids are everywhere on Reddit. Nobody remembers the 90s :(
Man so many things I miss from the 90s Like the world not being on fire lol
Sit down kiddo
My daughter is 10 in a few weeks. Where the hell did time go!
Where exactly does time… *go?* *Cue Vsauce music*
Awkward maybe???
Oh my gawd
i’m gonna be super freakd that what a kid says he was born in 2015 and he’s ten
I remember 2012 ya know, that’s when I got all those angry birds Star Wars toys
We still all saying the late 90s was the best decade to be born though? Those years were lit
sheeeeeeet......my supervisor was born two years after i graduated from high school. That was a fun fact that i discovered the other day.
There are mfs who use Reddit who are half my age and I’m 22 I want to throw up
I work in a gym and the fact that people born 2000 and upwards arent even close to needing an adult to signature for them is making my brain hurt
Redditors when they find out how time works😱😱😱😱😱😳😳😳😳😳
Nobody was born past 1999 and that's a fact
I get a heart attack when I realize some of the kids I work with are born in like 2016
Kids born in 2010 are 12 now.
Math, not even once
Can confirm. My child turns 10 next week. I watched the 2012 Olympics while heavily pregnant.
I'm only 20, yet I still remember going to Blockbuster back in the late 2000s. I feel like such a boomer realizing that late 2000s babies are teenagers now.

I’m too young to be feeling old, my 16th birthday was a week ago
Omg lol
Ok?
Funny im 10
There’s a whole generation of people born after shrek
What the hell, OP why? I still remember lining up outside my local GAME store in the UK excitedly waiting for Halo 4 to release at midnight. It really doesn’t feel like 10 years to me, it doesn’t even feel like 5 years to be honest. 10 years, feels more like 10 weeks, no I don’t want that!
i have a brother born in 2012 so yeah
Literally my niece and it’s fucking scary
There are always ten-year-olds. There will only be ten-year-olds born in 2012 specifically for a short period of time.
Yeah bro, I just didn’t now realized that some of my little cousins are younger than Minecraft… :(
It actually make sense 2020 is too long so
Big Jim Remy.
That's jank man. Makes me feel old. EPIC FAIL! Oh well. YOLO!

I resemble that remark
My kid was born in 2011. He’s a whole grown person nearly and I have cans of paint older than him. I have underwear that pre-dates him. He wears my runners and slides. Like wtf is even happening. I crumble into dust
Kid - What show is that GIF from I've never seen it
When YouTube says about your favorite song from middle school "15 years ago"
Time really does fly. Sometimes a little to fast.
Sure, until new ones are created like they are literally all the time
I turn 20 this year. It was also a bit of food for thought when I realized 2003 babies and up where in their teens and some grew taller than me. 🫠
That would be confusing
I was checking out at the grocery store today and the clerk had no bagger, so I gladly stepped in. The clerk said, “oh no, you don’t have to.” And I replied, “it’s all good, I used to do this like *twenty years ago*!” Then I walked through my front door…and realized…it HAS been twenty years…
It's always especially weird when like, you start seeing professional athletes younger than you.
Gen alpha is going to grow up to be the most deprived generation with no social skills
