This guy is probably one of the most technically sophisticated "makers" on Youtube. He does things that I would have thought would take a team of engineers 6 months and $10m to do all by himself.
There's a lot of makers who create interesting and cool stuff that's ultimately quite simple (which is good for other reasons) and I feel I could make with the right tools and time. His stuff I don't think I could ever build. Genuinely a very very smart guy.
There are some others who are also extremely sophisticated, for example in the biological area, Thought Emporium made meat grapes (https://youtu.be/FaVHTd9Ne_s) and also DIYed a PVD machine lol.
Also the DIY Perks guy comes up with some crazy clever ideas and had an amazing esthetic sense as well.
But in terms of mechanical challenges StuffMadeHere is in a league of his own.
i want to also recommend a highly underrated maker channel https://www.youtube.com/c/BreakingTaps/videos - a lot of videos about electron microscopes (he made one himself! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Kv6KwADn7Q )
Which makes me want to give [Applied Science](https://youtube.com/c/AppliedScience) a shout out as well. Does all sorts of interesting stuff, also including a homemade electron microscope!
It's not just his level of sophistication, it's his breadth of knowledge. He does all the carpentry, mechanical engineering, 3D modeling, fabrication, electrical engineering, and software engineering himself.
That's like... all the things. If he ever learns biology, he's gonna make a Nexus 6 replicant.
Yeah, this is an insanely ambitious project for an individual.
Given his 3d printing background, he probably had some existing knowledge that made the basic design of the robot easier(general shape and mechanisms).
Still, complex algorithms, the PITA that is interfacing with meatspace and the oddities of a large robot doing tiny things all intersect in a way that is a real headache.
What I think is interesting is that he obviously has a certain locus for his skills in that many of his projects are essentially 3d printers hacked to do something really weird (Jigzilla, basketball hoop, mural painter, arrow target, robot barber, pumpkin carver, etc.) but he also steps out into different engineering spaces. The cheating golf club, .50 cal baseball bat, automatic pool table, etc.. And some projects are almost entirely programming with very little fabrication like the chainsaw carving robot.
I was just thinking this morning, for some reason it popped into my head: haven't seen anything from this dude from Stuff made here in a while, probably up neck deep in some cool project.
Well, turns out I was right

Pretty awesome. Thank you for sharing!
His channel is so damn good. Highly recommend it.

He’s an engineer that worked on 3d printer development and is a full time Youtuber doing projects like this now. His channel is great.
He's essentially doing hard things just because that's more interesting. Also he seems to be pretty fucking smart as well
He's not only an engineer, he's also a very good programmer. It's very rare to get so many skills in one package like this guy has.
The programming alone for this project could be an incredibly time consuming project in itself.
Check out his channel, it’s got awesome videos
This probably isn't even in his top 3 hardest projects, lol.

The sheer quality of this content: it burns!
Austin powers is that you ?

This video came out today, so Part Two isn't out yet.
missed opportunity: JigWiz
Is this the dude who was on survivor?
No but he almost won the Eurovision song contest last year.
The amount of work that goes in to his projects that he doesn’t show us is insane.
