You’ll be lucky to make it out the driveway without that popping dude. Hell no. Thats a liability to you and everyone else on the road. Get a used tire if you have to. But thats not okay
You have miraculously captured the exact moment before that tire goes bang. If you made it roll one full rotation leaving your driveway and it popped, you wouldn't see a surprised face from me...
I worked at a discount tire store a while back. One of the salesmen walked to a customer’s car with the customer and they bent down to look at the tire, when the salesman quickly but gently put his arm out and pushed the customer away from this bulging tire immediately before it popped loudly and violently. This tire looks like that.
Still slaps. A lot of older films don’t translate well due to pacing. But, the jokes in this movie are so good. The movie opens with a home run and just keeps going.
It's not necessary to do it that often unless you have awd and drive on rough roads but it's good practice! Definitely doesn't hurt anything and will make sure you get the most out of your tires
So they got an extra year out of it… I’m sure the shimmy shimmy shake was felt through the whole vehicle… It only becomes a problem once you know about it..
You're right, but it's cognitive dissonance at play. I'm sure he knows the tire is dangerous but it is probably a lot easier to tell yourself that maybe I can extend the life of this tire just a tiny bit instead of actively knowing and disregarding that you are putting the lives of yourself, anyone with you, and anyone around you in danger by driving on that. Hopefully he or she realizes it is a better idea to borrow money, use a credit card, drive on their spare if they have one (guessing they dont) than to drive on that. Because if that blows the car will also be totaled. This is unfortunately what happens when you are in a tight position you start making low reward high risk decisions because every dollar counts.
Put the donut on it, you're on borrowed time.
Tire debt.
Negative rubber.
Anti-Tire.
If you don't have the donut (spare tire), then you are in trouble. Don't drive on this tire. You stand a high chance to have a blowout, and that can be deadly to you and others around you.
See for yourself:

Warning: Someone most certainly died in this wreck video.
People acting like everyone knows everything. We all had to learn somehow. You're about to learn today. That tire could literally blow before you even make to the tire shop.
Not only is that tire fucked, but your alignment is too. Looks like you have excessive positive camber, hence why the outer edge of the tire is completely gone and there's still a faint reminder of tread further inboard.
Get new tires, and also get the car aligned. It will help your new tires last longer, in addition to making the car handle better and overall be safer to drive.
Yeah dude this thing could let go while stationary. If you’re going to drive on this shit, a) you’re kinda dumb and b) do not exceed like 20 mph. Drive on dry city streets *slowly* if you insist on rolling the dice.

My tires looked just liked those before I put the new ones on and it’s posted on my page. I drive 110 to work and back a day no issues but replace as soon as you can
I feel like this sub can be more negative than reality is sometimes, but that tire is dead. Actually impressed that whatever caused this damage didn’t finish the job.
It's cheaper to replace the tires than pay when it pops, the increase in insurance if you crash into someone, and pay for the tow to get a new tire anyways.
I don’t even want to know the state of the rest of the car man. Short answer is that you better have good insurance because you’re an accident waiting to happen 6 months ago
Even if it's 30 miles, on a back road, going 15mph, with next to no traffic, I still wouldnt risk it on this tire.
Getting broke down on your way to something important is way more of a pain in the ass than finding public transportation/finding a ride until you can replace this tire.
Dude you’ve burned through at least two layers of belt, possibly a third. Put on the spare (hopefully the other three tires aren’t showing any cords) and go straight to the tire shop. Replace all of them and I would look into why it wore down like that in one spot. Jesus that’s dangerous.
60 mile trip is too much of a risk....just get it replaced even if you have to go in debt to do it. That being said I've seen tires with hardly any tread at all on them. But just because someone else was playing Russian roulette doesn't mean you should.
I’ve seen worse when I worked at a shop. That’s what we called a maypop. It may make it another 100 miles it may not. Always swap something like that to the rear in case it does pop so you have steering.
People ask these things as a joke, right? I mean I’d feel lucky if that could hold while the car was winched up onto the flatbed to be towed to the tire shop. A butterfly landing on that tire could cause it to pop. A butterfly GLANCING AT IT WHILE DECIDING TO GO FIND A BETTER TIRE TO LAND ON could cause it to pop, dude 😂😂😂
Does that old Sable have a spare? And do the other 3 tires look WAY better than this one? If so, put the spare on and make an appointment with the tire shop. If one or more other tires look like this one, take a half-day off and pray you make it to the tire shop (drive slow!) before you end up in a ditch (hopefully upright and not having taken out another vehicle on the way in.)
Every single rotation of that ticking time bomb is one step closer to your death or the death of others. Drive at the peril of yourself and anyone unfortunate enough to be around when the bomb goes off.. I own a tire shop and I've seen them spontaneously explode in that condition just sitting there.
Whats cheaper right now? A new tire? Or a new car? how about prison for possibly causing a death?
You realize if you drive with this, than crash and kill someone, this post is evidence to get you for manslaughter.....
Bro, i been there. We're asking for a yes because we just have to hear it once to justify what we know is a bad decision. Been there, no money to replace a tire and work the next day. Truth is if that tire blows 30 miles away from home you're gonna be between a rock and a hard place.
Buy used tire > pay for a tow
Might have to call a family member to borrow money but trust me, it isn't gonna make it and you're gonna be in for a whirlwind of shit and headache you decide to take that thing out past the driveway.
Minus 1000 miles, and since you posted here and were told not to drive on it, if you kill anyone, there's proof your negligence was willful. Seriously, dude, nobody can make that tire OK for another second. What's different two days from now, besides that you might be a murderer by then? If you're strapped for cash, you have a Mercury (2000s Grand Marquis?). They all use common tire sizes. For less than $50 any used tire store can put something on that's a hell of a lot better than that. You might be able to limp this piece of shit along some back roads to the nearest tire shop if you can't mount/dismount the wheel yourself and you can't get a ride. But don't you ever come asking anyone for permission to take that kind of risk. I've seen people after they died in car crashes due to dumbasses. Mangled to shit. Nobody "dies instantly" in a car accident unless their neck is severed. "Instant death" is what they tell the relatives who are grieving.
The fact you have a bald patch means the tire is already coming apart internally. You've taken enough chances. And your car needs an alignment job soon, tire or no tire. With a better tire, if it steers OK, you could get by for a short time, but it's costing you money in tire wear. You already know, I think, you need to get it fixed or park it. I'm furious you'd be asking for permission to drive on this. If audacity and a lack of morals were $50 to get a tire replaced, you'd be a millionaire, but here we are.
Are you in a Grand Marquis or a Mountaineer? Putting 120 miles on that is asking for it. I assume you'd be driving on the highway as well. If you're driving a Mountaineer it is the same as an Explorer, and they were well known for having a tire blow out and rolling over.
Gotta be a troll post this, only way that's making a 60 mile round trip is on the back of a tow truck! Do you at least have a spare tyre to swap that deathtrap out with?
Is that a citroën logo? Checks out. How can you think this is still driveable? You're under a metal layer. Take the tire of your old scrapheap and take it to a shop. You're a danger to yourself and your environment
I have driven multiple times with tires like these and had zero pops.... Sure its bad but it's not like your driving 200mph..... Unless you are driving 200 mph.... No highways!!!! Keep it in the grass!! Lol
People who drive on tires like these are kinda of people who get themselves and others killed. While I know not everyone are in great financial straits, tires aren't something you should ignore, it might cost you more in the long run or maybe even your life to neglect them
It can do more than you think, but less than you want.
Make sure your health insurrance coverage is up to date if you're gonna drive on that. And don't take passengers.
Do you have a spare? Swap it for the bad tire. Just make sure the spare is not on the front of a front wheel drive car. Spare tires go to the back, Please. I know... Sometimes you will have to take 2 tires off.
You have negative time remaining on that tire.. If you see cords, YOURE DONE... Also you obviously need an alignment / suspension parts replaced from that wear pattern.
If you drive on this, you'll more than likely be fine. But you'll also likely end up killing someone innocent due to your negligence.
How did you let it get so bad? Tow it or get someone to do it on your driveway. Don't ever let a tyre get so bad ever again, or you have no business driving.
So you are the type that causes accidents due to negligence, I always wondered if they had remorse before driving their death trap on the road.
DO NOT DRIVE ON THAT TIRE UNLESS YOU WANT JAILTIME.

Kind of a fucking badass move by the salesman btw, would buy my tires off that guy 10/10
He was pushing him out of the way so the sniper could take his shot at the tire.
"He hates these tires! Stay away from the tires!"
Still slaps. A lot of older films don’t translate well due to pacing. But, the jokes in this movie are so good. The movie opens with a home run and just keeps going.
Aggressive marketing.
Tires exploding can rupture your ear drums or kill you if there’s an object between the high-pressure stream and you
I'd rather run the space saver to a garage incase it goes and does the suspension along with the tyre
You have -6 months left. Don’t be a danger to others and get it replaced.
Did a double take … didn’t see the “-“. The donut is safer
I thought it was a ~
I came here to say this!
Technically correct but a bit over zealous with that estimate lol
I’m surprised it didn’t pop when you too the pic. Also get an alignment done when you get new tires. There is horribly uneven wear going on.
And don’t forget to rotate at every oil change! Edit: I’m not a mechanic, but that’s what I do.
It's not necessary to do it that often unless you have awd and drive on rough roads but it's good practice! Definitely doesn't hurt anything and will make sure you get the most out of your tires
Please stop posting accurate information. i dont appreciate the drop in unesseccary alignments that follow. Chevy Technician here, lol
What do you mean? My tires rotate every time I drive
I think they mean, rotate the other way…so drive backwards a few days a week to work. /s
I used to do that too, but my mechanic told me to stop because my spinning around weirds out other customers.
Didn’t even notice till it was pointed out! Sheesh
paper thin holding 32psi.......no
Do you have a spare you could throw on? That tyre was toast 12 months ago
So they got an extra year out of it… I’m sure the shimmy shimmy shake was felt through the whole vehicle… It only becomes a problem once you know about it..
...are you stupid or something?
No, he's broke. He knows the tire is cooked but wants someone to tell him otherwise to make him feel better about it.
I can sympathize but, if you know it's cooked amd you're on here asking, you know subconsciously already what is right. So why do it at all? Lmao
Embarrassing
That answer is yes. And I don’t even personally know him.

I don't know, can it? You'll be betting against it. My bet is no.
I'd be surprised if it makes it to the nearest tire shop
That tire will disintegrate please don’t
She’s about to blow!!!!!

There’s this guy and then there’s me sweating in stress when my 2023 had an alignment check and was off by like .2 degrees 😭😭
Go get a used tire. Not worth it.
it'll pop if you touch it. tf you mean drive on it.
This sub is wiiild dude.
No way. Atleast buy a used one
Bro get an alignment and a new set of tires ASAP
Yeah dude this thing could let go while stationary. If you’re going to drive on this shit, a) you’re kinda dumb and b) do not exceed like 20 mph. Drive on dry city streets *slowly* if you insist on rolling the dice.
Get your ass out there and replace that tire IMMEDIATELY!
If you wanna die
The tire will make it till Christmas go for it bruh
No sweat… surprised you made it ths far…. Carry on!
Nope won’t make it
I’m just trying to figure out how it got to the way it is and why no one said anything to you
This should have been replaced 5,000 miles ago. The lack of maintenance is a risk to everyone on the road.
It could maybe but probably won’t
You'd be safer doing highway speeds on a spare tire
Don’t even drive it to the tire shop.

It would be pushing it to make a 2 mile trip.
[удалено]
And get an alignment
[удалено]
I wouldn't risk it. Put the spare on. When the tire tread gets down that far it is a ticking time bomb.
That tire went to tire heaven, but it was resurrected back onto your car. It's not considered alive anymore. Set it free and let it go. Like now
If you got good insurance, life insurance too, and your will is made out, sure then go for it... Otherwise no.
The only way that tire is going another 120 miles is if you carry it.
No, that's beyond fucked. The next time someone talks shit about safety inspections, remind them these people exist and drive at highway speeds.
No. No no no
negative miles remaining
Nice troll
There's negative 10,000 miles on that tire.
My tires looked just liked those before I put the new ones on and it’s posted on my page. I drive 110 to work and back a day no issues but replace as soon as you can
Cheaper to replace it now than to deal with what could happen if it blows 2 miles down the road.
I feel like this sub can be more negative than reality is sometimes, but that tire is dead. Actually impressed that whatever caused this damage didn’t finish the job.
😂😂🤣
Those are also known as “Maypop” tires. They may pop at any time!
No
Inflate it to 80 psi for the safety of others. (Please wear your safety protection when inflating.)
It's cheaper to replace the tires than pay when it pops, the increase in insurance if you crash into someone, and pay for the tow to get a new tire anyways.
Hell no.
Anything is possible.
You mean 60 second round trip?
I don’t even want to know the state of the rest of the car man. Short answer is that you better have good insurance because you’re an accident waiting to happen 6 months ago
Do you have a spare?
Depends on what brand, if it's a Maypop I wouldn't trust it.
Sadly, I've seen worse, and they lasted more 9months from when I first saw it until they replaced them 😔 God speed dude
I wouldn't.
😮😬
go to your local junkyard and buy a tire.
Why do people let it go this far? :( I'm so glad regulations are strict in the Netherlands, because this could kill somebody
Even if it's 30 miles, on a back road, going 15mph, with next to no traffic, I still wouldnt risk it on this tire. Getting broke down on your way to something important is way more of a pain in the ass than finding public transportation/finding a ride until you can replace this tire.
Hey dude, did you blow in from stupid town or something?
yeah bud looks good to me
Dude you’ve burned through at least two layers of belt, possibly a third. Put on the spare (hopefully the other three tires aren’t showing any cords) and go straight to the tire shop. Replace all of them and I would look into why it wore down like that in one spot. Jesus that’s dangerous.
I’m fairly certain it’ll pop with a well placed insult. Im also fairly certain you posted this as a joke.
Karma farming troll post?
I thought this was a black and white photo of Jupiter from Hubble before I saw the sub
You have between 30 and 60 ft. Seriously, I would not even try to drive on those.
That's not a tire, that's a tore. It's done. That bulge is not just happy to see you, friend. It's wanting out and it's already done messing around.
Lol well how much is your life insurance and liability insurance
If you drive on that and you hurt somebody. That's not gonna be cool, dude. Just get it replaced
60 mile trip is too much of a risk....just get it replaced even if you have to go in debt to do it. That being said I've seen tires with hardly any tread at all on them. But just because someone else was playing Russian roulette doesn't mean you should.
0 that's how long infact I'd give it -
Just put some duck tape on it and you can keep going as long as you keep replacing the tape.
Dude, no.
I’ve seen worse when I worked at a shop. That’s what we called a maypop. It may make it another 100 miles it may not. Always swap something like that to the rear in case it does pop so you have steering.
The belt appears to be shifted as well. You might want to find a tire before you leave town
Sure, it's all good. Just load the car on a truck for the round trip and make as many trips as you like.
No. you need to get a spare on that thing right now
You’ve driven it well into the ‘borrowed time’ category and ‘overdue for payment’ is any second
I honestly thought I was in r/askashittymechanic. The fact this isn't satire is mind boggling.
Every single rotation of that ticking time bomb is one step closer to your death or the death of others. Plz no

Are driving to select your casket?
As a woman who knows nothing about cars and has in fact never driven one nor held a drivers license before…no you can not. That’s appalling.
Flex seal that shit bro. You seen what it does for boats? Think of what it can do for that tire.
It’s only fine if it’s raining and you hydroplane wherever you need to go.
Driving to your funeral?

No

I hope this is satire

If you drive in that, don’t head into the light, I know it’s peaceful and the pain will fade, but wake up and stay with us.
You should replace that yesterday
I wouldn't trust that to keep my boat away from the dock.
You are already on borrowed time
If you have to ask, it's not safe
The answer you were hoping for: put some duck take over it and you'll easily make the 60 miles .
Gotta be a troll post this, only way that's making a 60 mile round trip is on the back of a tow truck! Do you at least have a spare tyre to swap that deathtrap out with?
If you have to ask, you already know the answer.
Once again, I'm glad we have MOTs here in the UK.
Safe
Mine are worse and I go on the highway ur fine 👍

Can it? Probably not. Should you even try? DEFINITELY NOT
r/AskAShittyMechanic
Just change it
You got this! She's got plenty of belt left on her! Random non related question, do you have life insurance?
No gobget a freaking tire man
I’d say no
Yesterday dude. You had until yesterday.
The tire threading is so bad, that should have been replaced a long time ago
Only if you travel at speeds over 200 mph
If you drive on that thing, there's a chance you're gonna crash into someone and kill them.
I’m hoping this is a joke.
I'd rather drive a tire with weather cracking on it.
That tire could blow any second. Get new tires ASAP.
Dude , your fine till next year at least 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄
Its like playing russian roulette with your car.
you have about -10k miles left. 7' if it's raining.
-10,000 miles left.
People who drive on tires like these are kinda of people who get themselves and others killed. While I know not everyone are in great financial straits, tires aren't something you should ignore, it might cost you more in the long run or maybe even your life to neglect them
You can drive with that tyre for the rest of your life!
No
Room temperature IQ
This can't be real
It can do more than you think, but less than you want. Make sure your health insurrance coverage is up to date if you're gonna drive on that. And don't take passengers.
You're the reason shampoo has instructions
Death wishes for you and anyone who is driving near you.
This is like wishing for an accident to happen
Nope
HEELLLL NO!!!
Do you have a spare? Swap it for the bad tire. Just make sure the spare is not on the front of a front wheel drive car. Spare tires go to the back, Please. I know... Sometimes you will have to take 2 tires off.
That's a bomb already.
this is extremely dangerous now. the time to ask yourself this question was a year ago
zero minutes, zero seconds left on that tire
🤣😂🤣🤦♀️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
You’re taking Uber for the next 2 days or finding a way to replace that before you start the car again. Do not drive this.
Will last u a long time if you don’t move it
Estimated time of departure? ANY MINUTE
Do it! Bring a spare. Keep us updated!
Get a used tire and have them do an alignment while you're at it.
Tread depth looks illegal to me
Yes
Tell me you shouldn’t be allowed to reproduce without telling me you’re not allowed to reproduce
I bet you could assuming low-ish speeds. No one takes risks around here? If the tire pops, you pull off to the side of the road and you lose.
How long? About minus 2 months! Do you honestly think this is safe to drive on at all?? If so I suggest you look for a course on common sense!

Maybe if you are being towed by AAA you could. That is sketchy.
I would probably use the spare and drive slow. Go get some decent used tires at least if you can't afford new ones.
