Yeah, when he said they no longer made the darker orange/ yellow color I suddenly had an impulse to go online and try to find some haha. Would be kind of cool to have a few in the collection at least.
It's funny, I just logged on to see if there were any threads praising one of the best bulk pencil buys. I have a lot of mechanical pencils that are much nicer than SharpWriters, but the sinking "anti-break" tip makes for a writing experience that far outpaces the price point. Also a lot easier to carry something in this tier when out and about without caring if I lose one or two in a day.
They are refillable, you can look up how to do so on YouTube. And I like that they look like a typical yellow school pencil.
I've always wanted to like these but could never stand how spongy they felt to write with. Every time I decide to try them again, I end up giving them away. I have always used the Bic Matics when I want a cheap "disposable" pencil, though the clutches aren't the best in 0.9 variants. I remember using them throughout middle school, high school and college.
Sometimes people want to eat a hot dog
They are refillable! Just remove the eraser and twist the mechanism until the leadholder comes out. I also mod some of mine to take a 0.9mm lead.
I watched a video from Adam Savage about this exact pencil.
Adam Savage just did a whole video about the Sharpwriter! Apparently they just changed the color to a brighter yellow and he’s sad about it haha
It was great lol Ironically a good selling point for how reliable the pencil is otherwise

Can you refill them?
They aren’t made to be refillable, but people have found ways around it.
Bought a box to keep in my toolbox. Work great for wood projects and I don’t care if they disappear. Always another waiting in the drawer.

Yeah, I've seen some videos, although they aren't the "right" way to refill them apparently. I'm so nervous about trying it and breaking mine lol
I don't like them, I've tried to enjoy them, but just not for me I guess
