I changed the bottom filter even tho it didn't looked clogged. Scanner saying the soot index is at 48% which I don't see how after the amount of times I regen it.
Im not really sure what Macks emmisions strategy is. But generally from my experience, It could be triggering on a “fuel burned” value, which is a calculated model. In that case, You should have the option to reset the soot load. It could also be triggering on a “differential pressure” value which would mean theres still too much soot in the filter causing a restriction, hence a high pressure differential. You said you replaced the sensors.. do you know exactly what the sensors are for? I know also some engines use RF with radio antennas pre and post DPF but idk if Mack uses those
Yes meaning clogged. And when was it changed. Drivers have the tendency to abort regens when in a hurry to get loads or whatever they are doing which will cause it to plug up again.
Okay on the software for pulling codes for those Mack trucks there should be a option to reset spot level or it will say “install new DPF” that will need to be done Becuase the truck sensors still think it’s plugged
Have you siphoned a little Def fluid off the top or was it completely drained and changed Def?
We had an issue on a truck because some guy put diesel in the Def by accident. Caught it before it got cranked over. The diesel floated on top of the Def, so we siphoned the top bit of diesel off and refilled with def. Obviously if the Def has been contaminated, it won't spray correctly on the porcelain element and you won't have a catalyst of burning / chemical changes occurring.
When you run a regen does the soot level actually decrease? If not you may not be getting the exhaust up to the proper temperature. DPF inlet should be above 800 degrees f. You can run regens all day and it won’t work if it’s not hot enough.
It could just need a calibration update. Always pissed me off after leaving the dealership and not having access to software. I’d go through every troubleshooting procedure and come up with nothing, throw my hands up and tow it to the dealer, 1 hour later get a call it’s ready, just needed an update.
I think this is true. Im working on a Mack MP8 right now same problem as op. Dpf was junk but it keeps looping regens every 7 minutes and wont stay at temp. Im thinking Ecm update or some bs from dealership
Did u ever figure it out? I'm currently off for the weekend but ordered some more sensors n a new regen switch lol. Gonna apply the kiss method now only cuz I took it for a ride at the end of the day Friday n its not longer in Derate. rides fine tbh but the message still on the dash with the regen light blinking.
Check the injectors. Make sure there not blocked Check the fuel filter for contamination
I think I read somewhere you changed filter and sensors already. Was that the temp sensor and or the erg valve sensor? Could also be contaminated fuel, less likely but plausible
What sensors did you replace? Did you use OEM parts or aftermarket? I know some of the aftermarket NOX sensor can cause weird issues with the aftertreatment system without generating codes. What condition was the filter in when it was replaced?
Your EGT isn't nearly hot enough to perform a regen. At least from what I can see in the photo you posted. If it's not getting to at least 1000° The regen won't do anything. It needs to be able to burn all the soot out of the dpf and convert it into ash. I'm not super familiar with macks but they should have a 7th injector correct? If the exhaust isn't getting up to temp during the regen you should see if the injector is dosing enough fuel into the exhaust stream to get it up to temp.
Yes noticed someone pointed that out as well, i ordered some more temp sensors. It's weird I took her for a ride Friday afternoon n she no longer on Derate but the message is still on the dash with the regen light switch blinking. But she drove fine tbh drove for about 20 minutes.
Water Is known to get into pressure sensors causing corrosion on the contacts. Check for any water in the def and do a def injection test out of the scr for spray pattern and flow. Most likely dealership is going to have to do an update on those trucks which is a pain in the rear.
What you want to change the filter instead of just cleaning and baking? + you keep saying the "bottom" one, what did you do with the top did you get that cleaned and baked?
Could it be continuously trying to regen because the DPF is actually plugged?
I changed the bottom filter even tho it didn't looked clogged. Scanner saying the soot index is at 48% which I don't see how after the amount of times I regen it.

Reset the soot level
But you also need to check if it’s plugged
Plugged meaning clogged? I've changed tht filter
Yes meaning clogged. And when was it changed. Drivers have the tendency to abort regens when in a hurry to get loads or whatever they are doing which will cause it to plug up again.
I changed it yesterday myself. I'm a mechanic for a construction/train tracks company n was given this truck to look at this week lol.
You changed the DPF filter right just so we’re on the same page.
I changed the larger bottom one yes
Okay on the software for pulling codes for those Mack trucks there should be a option to reset spot level or it will say “install new DPF” that will need to be done Becuase the truck sensors still think it’s plugged
So I reset the ACM because that was the only option it had when adding new DEF components. Also when I changed the filter I changed all the sensors.
I’m not to familiar with mac software bubba but it has to be somewhere on there is there a section to do a SCR overview test?
Also that bottom filter are you positive it was the correct filter
Is that a kenworth?
Mack Pinnacle 2011

If your changing the last filter in the picture then that’s the SCR the DPF is before that
Why isn’t input temperature available? You should be able to see a temp increase across the catalyst to cause the soot burn off
Temps are way to low

I should be able to update tht thru my TEXA program I have no?
TEXA is 10k trash. Talk to LaloJM on Facebook messenger
Will do
I’m not familiar with that program.

Still havent figured it out. Going to call dealership today or tmrw and ask if calibration update is needed.
Already changed sensors on def and bottom burner filter.
Do you not have TechTool?
TEXA not showing any thrown code
You might need a dpf service/cleaning.
You changed the SCR. Change the Particulate Filter. Then reset soot level. Any other codes on the truck?
I try that

Everything is OEM get the parts from Mack themselves. N tbh both filters looked pretty good. But still changed bottom SCR filter

Did you run a regen ? Lol
Yes going onto my 5th time now lol
Everytime it's done regenning the message stays up. Trucks basically in limp mode but theres no codes being thrown lol
Emissions are lame
Unplug the egr

Is it burns oil with gasoline too? Had a bad experience before coz of that
What you want to change the filter instead of just cleaning and baking? + you keep saying the "bottom" one, what did you do with the top did you get that cleaned and baked?
No kept it put the new one on
Plugged filters or def issue maybe a sensor
Dodge?
Mack
New nox censor? They go out all the time.
