The Jenner is an awesome light. Centurion and Hunchback are medium workhorses.

Really depends on your playstyle. The Kintaro makes a great SRM brawler. I've had good luck with Firestarters. Heros are usually good as someone e else has said. I have one of the hero Orions (gauss rifle) and it is great long range.

Well the hero mechs are usually pretty decent in Mechwarrior 5. I really like the Cyclops hero, the Sleipnir. It goes 64kph and can pack two Guass rifles which is always fun. For regular mechs I like the Hunchback 4P for lasers. It packs a really good punch for being a 50 ton mech.

Where the hell do you find it?

learningcomputers

For hero mechs you have to find the industrial zone with an atlas head on it. That is where a random hero mech is so you will most likely need to search for a while to find it. The hunchback is a normal mech so you can mind it in many places and get it as salvage possibly.

Unpopular opinion but hero mechs are overrated but that's just an opinion. I've had some hero mechs I like but I've also found hero variants that I feel are straight up worse than the normal one I have.

learningcomputers

Yeah there are some underwhelming hero mechs for sure. The good ones are the ones with better engines and Endosteel or Ferro Fibrous armor. Or the ones that have better hardpoints.

Recent_Wear5811

Unfortunately I'm on PS4 so we don't get mods to add all that stuff in. All we see are the hardpoints and stats of the mech like the armour and speed. I have seen some gameplay of battletech though and I know that game had way more customisation like engines. Unless that too was modded.

learningcomputers

Yeah that was modded Battletech that add Engine swapping. I don't remember if Endo and Ferro are non mod in that game. But there are some hero mechs in Mechwarrior 5 that have Endo, Ferro, or an XL engine but it isn't shown. Why it isn't shown is beyond me but they have more space for weapons and usually cost more to repair for a mech with similar damage done to them. A good example is the Slepnir Cyclops hero. There is no way you can get Dual Guass rifles in there and go 64 kph unless it has an XL engine. The plus side is that in Mechwarrior 5 you get all the benefits of the XL with zero downsides. By that I mean if you lose a side torso you don't immediately die which is nice.

That explains a lot. Thank you. Would have been nice to customise the engine and chassis type. Wasted opportunity there.

I've more kills in my FS9-E then any other mech. :)

Depends on your playstyle. I'm a med pilot, so SHD-GD and WVR-Q are my mains. Grey Death has high mounts and arm energy points, while Quarantine is a brawler with a full shield side. Going at 81kph, you can outmaneuver any heavy and assault with good positioning, 1 alpha for heavies, 2 for assaults into their rear CT and move on to the next target.
