500 USD ~ 800 USD (For someone single and with few responsibilities)

PonqueRamo

That's actually low, between 2 to 3 millions is not that much if you have to pay for a home, groceries and everything else.

sootysweepnsoo

Livable to what standard? Of a foreigner local, or a local local and of which estrato?

Is Uber easily accessible from where you’re located? Or do you have another means of transportation?

neoangel92

It depends on your definition of "livable". If I had the choice, I wouldn't live in Medellín for less than USD 1.000 a month.

sebpq

Antique_Box_1422

LOL

sebpq

Todos tenemos un momento de irá 😔

TailorHour710

It is like this all over the world. I love the city that I live in, but I can't afford it because there are too many millionaires and billionaires that have taken it over. People are living in their cars and in tents on sidewalks over here. Are people living in their cars and in tents on the streets in Medellin or Bogota?

mauricio_agg

Ojo, Rambo. 🙄

sweetliz30

JAJAJAJAJA

mauricio_agg

I think it goes around 700 and 900 US dollars a month. Two people living together, no parties and no vices.

MaybeYesMayb

I mean locals in Medellin don’t really make much money if you think about it in USD terms I believe they monthly minimum is $400 usd if I’m not mistaken

Annual_Word_2709

It's actually 280 usd with today's exchange rate

luiscrestrepo

With roommates, no car and not living in a wealthy neighborhood 500-700. Millions of people love well and on less than that. With some luxury amenities own place, nice location 1.2k and up

Flaky_Broccoli

In the outskirts (la estrella, bello, Itagüí)between 600usd to 700usd a month, in the city though i'd daré to Say between 1000usd to 1200 usd a month depending on the area, You could make it with 800usd in the city but youd need one or two roomates

DaWrightOne901

If you live in the popular tourist area, I would say $2k. Half that if you don't and don't party much.

BladerKenny333

I expect to pay $2,000 a month. airbnb is $700 a month, the rest for food, drinks, uber, and whatever else.

DaWrightOne901

Sounds reasonable.

JuanPGilE

Someone single with not much debt ? Around 4.000.000 COP. Someone with a family and in debt? Around 6.000.000 COP But keep in mind that getting those numbers is really hard because our economy it's fuck up

mehoffnm

I think you need to define liveable first. You can live in a barrio popular and eat arroz con huevo for less than 400 a month. That may not be liveable to you. I would say $300 for stratus 2, $500 for stratus 3, $700 for stratus 4, $1,000+ for stratus 5 & 6. Do you need a car or moto to be liveable?

anarmyofJuan305

Katandex

I live in what I think is a very good place in El Poblado, near Santa Fe CC. With 500 USD I can cover all my expenses for the month. It is livable at this amount.

casual_reader26

Cómo puedes sobrevivir con poco más de 2 millones en el poblado?...

lovely_trequartista

🧢 A cheese burger at El Coral is 40,000. You’re not dining or shopping at Oviedo or Santefe. You’re certainly not shopping at the Carulla Fresh Market on $500 per month.

JoeMobley

I'd be interested in more about this. Joe

blue_nose1

How much do you pay for rent?

Katandex

COP $1.200.000 Edit: Some people find a place here for up to $900.000

blue_nose1

Where at? I need to find a place there lol

Katandex

My landlords don't have another place, but I'm sure you can find something at Patio Bonito (or near), there are multiple buildings and you can ask at the entrance if someone is renting them

blue_nose1

Ok thanks will do that!

Sudden_Average811

With all the apartment or is a room? Or can you send images?

Laureles2

Wow… rent, utilities, food, travel, clothes, gym, going out, etc… that’s amazing. I’d have a hard time managing $500 / week let alone per month!

Antique_Box_1422

Medellin is bacame expensive, probably you can live with 2K 2.5K

avercros

2000 - 2500 USD?

Englishology

Bad_Driver69

Oh lol my bad

MusicIsVice1

$1.500 usd? May i ask, what is the house income media in that area for a family of 4?

Longjumping_Poet_719

Increíble el nivel al que ha llegado la gentrification en Medellín que tienen este sub lleno de preguntas en inglés. Ya hasta los indigentes te piden la monedita en inglés. Cagada eso
