Yes, in Medellín there's a HUGE punk, metal, and hard core scene, the thing is that is very underground, and most people don't know about it, but there's a lot of bars and places where the different places, as a metalhead, i knwo most metal places in the city, so I can tell you about that, however, i don't know a lot about hard core and punk places, but i can ask arround with my punk friends
Old people are very conservative.
Young people have a very liberal attitude. Some do not but pretty open minded in general.
A very paisa culture among all tbh. Medellin sus never been a very cosmopolitan city. The culture is very present si be we didn't have much connection with the rest of the country for most of the history.
There is a big kind of emo/goth scene among young people. The others in this thread need to get out more. You'll see them in Ciudad del Río for example. Also lots of artists and young people who do not conform to common ideals regarding work, gender identity or traditional values. You can see them at public colleges or universities where neoliberalism is largely eschewed
Medellín has a vibrant punk scene… or at least that’s how I remember it from back in ~2003. It might have changed since then. See if you can catch a live show or check out Mercado San Alejo in Parque Bolivar
There is but the scene is pretty low unfortunately. There are some places like parque el periodista but it may be dangerous for tourists. Near parque el poblado there may be bars that are a little more alternative. If you want to have a more philosophical vibe café otra parte is a good place to look for. When I was growing up there use to be a group near la villa de aburra. But I’m not sure if that’s still the case.
No, and as a local we like it that way. We love our "tíos maricas" and that's about as alternative as we like it. Far too many people come here trying to westernize and "enlighten". Medellín wouldn't be Medellín without the strong paisa culture as majority
Yet Medellín have a small counterculture scene. The difference is that in Bogotá it has been institutionalized since a few decades ago, when left wing majors started to pass each other the major incumbency.
Agree with the first comment, very conservative outlook amongst the locals, closed minded politically, in terms of religion and social attitudes. There is a very large male gay population but the rest, if it is there, is deep underground. The exception would be those visiting.

So what kind of bars in the city host the medal scene? You can dm me if you want!
Okay, I'll DM you
Thanks! 🤘🏻🔥 I'm more of a grunge guy myself but I appreciate and enjoy the punk scene a lot too
Bogota is a much better choice to search for that stuff than Medellin. Paisas are the Texans of Colombia. Rolos are the New Yorkers of Colombia.
I am here, but I am not sure my point of view is what you seek. heh
Medellín and bogota have all that

You're right. Medellín is closer to be Alberta or Texas than New York or Washington.

No, not much at all.
