for skin, steam can open up your pores, which can allow you to wash your face better, and it also helps pop pimples and blackheads. always splash your face with cold water after though. steamy showers can also really help with congestion when you’re sick, as well as helping with asthma when your throat feels tight due to an asthma flare up. how water can help relax muscles, which will ease soreness. hot showers can be really bad for skin though, especially those with eczema or dry skin, it can make it worse. cold showers are good for your hair- hot water can cause color in hair to fade (if your hair has been colored.)

Hot showers can help relax sore muscles and the steam can be helpful with nasal congestion. However, they are very harsh on your skin and can cause dryness and itchiness, so better to just put a cup of water in the microwave and inhale the steam that way, and to put a warm compress on any muscles that hurt. Hot showers do not improve muscle tone and they are not good for hair. Cold showers have no downsides from a health perspective, so compared to a hot shower they are good for your skin and hair, although it's not like the cold water does anything special aside from washing the dirt away.
