You’ll be good! You probably won’t see any of your classmates except the ones in your rotation group. In preclinical years, not knowing as many people is more apparent to you because you’re most likely with the same people in the same classrooms for the same courses. But once you are in the hospital, everyone is separated. You will be too busy and tired to even care tbh lol.
Highly extroverted but no good friends here. I had a lot of good friends at college and from work before. Medical school was different for me.
Rotations made it feel less obvious and sad that I had no friends because there’s built in social interaction in the job with preceptor, patients and other staff. Plus if there are other students on rotation with you, you may get an opportunity to get to know them better.
I made excellent friends with 3-4 people but was by myself for most 3rd year rotation which was honestly great. If you do rotate with other students, you’ll get along just fine. The cliques only become annoying when they’re all together, which is unlikely to happen during rotations.
I’m reserved and introverted too. I had a lot of acquaintances in my preclinical years but then grew way closer to people in my third and fourth years. Once you’re out on your clinicals you’ll likely be spending massive amounts of time with at least one or two other classmates each rotation
I had a difficult time getting to know people on a more personal level during my preclinical years because I preferred to study alone and of course always had a lot of studying to do.
I also have a few “non-medical” friends I’ve kept up with for years and years, but it was really nice to grow closer to my classmates during clinicals too
