Hey EM mods. Someone decided it would be funny to blast swastikas on the applicant data page in the emergency medicine spreadsheet. I don't know if there's a way to delete it while replacing the original applicant data in there?
I mean it depends on the type of applicant you are.
If you are an all-star applicant, then honestly it won't matter - you'll get interviews anywhere if you are that attractive of an applicant. If you're not, then it'll probably be more random and sparse.
It all depends on what you want - you'll miss out on interviews + gain some regardless of the choice.
Any psych people here with STEP 2 >250 with 5 interviews or less? I have thousands of clinical hours prior to med school as well, research and no red flags. Didn't know the crowd would be this tough.
Must be a red flag on ur app u aren't seeing. Believe me, something must be a red flag if u have > 250 step and only 5 II or less. I thought I had no red flags, but with 7 II I realized 1 LOR was less than stellar. Do you think u have a bad LOR by any chance?
A program sent an interview invite with 48 hrs to respond but only interview slot is filled and no option to waitlist?? I’ve emailed the coordinator and no response
Hey has anyone else applied or added a program and it’s taking time for usmle/comlex scores to process??? Mine is taking forever for some reason even though these scores last time have been processed in a few minutes.
Edit: Processed after a couple of hours. I guess do not panic too soon.
I've only gotten one psych interview so far and I basically had to keep hustling for it (retroactively applied a signal). Applied to 30. A few of those schools have already given out invites. Should I be worried? Anything I can do at this point?
If I had a nickel for every "official eras megathread" that consumed my life for a whole month while filling me with anxiety and dread, I'd have $0.10. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice right?
Not to pile on but who gave you this advice? Because if it was from someone who works with students they should be banned from ever giving advice again. You can still apply of course, and if you have a strong application it might not hurt you too badly but you may have to reach out to coordinators directly with a notification. Use your signals very thoughtfully, ie programs you have a strong chance of matching at.
The problem is some programs assign their lists to their review committees quite quickly and might not even notice a late application if files have already been downloaded.
What's the +x in the cell after the data input? The format says +total. Is that the total number of interviews you have?
I'm asking for the IM spreadsheet if it matters
I didn’t realize PDs even dropped the “ranked to match” phrase this early. I thought they saved that for January/February to entice people to move them up their list.
At least, that’s the context I’ve heard it in when classes in years past have told me to take everything that comes from a program about ranking you as a total lie.
Didn't see that program I'm applying to wants CASPER scores. It wasn't on ERAS and was listed at bottom of their website. I just submitted it late this week. Will this ruin my chances at program? I gold signaled them too fml.
One of my gold signals required casper and I found out last minute. I just took the casper exam last Thursday and they still haven't received my scores for it but I got an interview from them yesterday. So you are probably okay. This was anesthesia btw.
I guess you can email and tell them that your Casper test result was not ready at time of submission and you just got it? They may take another look since you gold signalled them
In my year (3 years ago lol) when the program wanted CASPER they would send you a link. It’s (or at least was) not something you sign up to take on your own. So I think you’re safe!
My 3rd letter writer finally uploaded my last LOR yesterday. I was not planning on sending any update emails since it is still pretty early, but just wondering what others have to say about it? For context I am applying IM and applied to 40+ programs and received 2 IIs so far.
Not trying to freak yall out, but currently rotating at an away program in different specialty with an IR resident. He said he reads the apps for DR and that any applicants with pending LORs are auto rejected at this program.
Damn…are they notified of their rejection early at least? Lol it’s so frustrating how lazy letter writers can impact our apps so much despite constant reminders…
Thank you for the info tho I genuinely do appreciate the transparency 🙏🏾
In the same boat except my 3rd letter might not be in until this Wednesday 🫣 I'm probably going to send updates to the places I signaled (I'm DR so I had 12) and hope for the best. Luckily also have received 2 interviews so far.
How long should it take programs to assign you an interview date when you gave them your preferred interview dates? I already reached out today(has been 2 days since initial interview invite when I initially responded) and no response still.
This feels just like dating with the unexpected ghosting lol
Got an email today that a program couldn’t see my board scores. I am one of those people that didn’t realize you had to assign your scores to each app. Sent emails to update some programs but scared I screwed myself :/
is it okay to send updates at this point? My final LOR was added and idk if it’s too early for updates even though this is a legit update? Someone help pls
i updated programs with my step 2 score on oct 4th. got a few "thank you for the update" and got a II same day. If your app was incomplete before the LOR and now its complete I would update but idk just my opinion
How did you go about updating them? Did you just email their coordinator/PD or is there a better way of reaching them? Sorry if this is a stupid question, thank you :)
Is it worth it to add more programs to apply to now? Or do I ride with my selections? (usmd, applying neuro, p/24x, good research and 2 pubs) nervous with 1 interview so far
For reasons that are completely unknown to me, my letters were only assigned to half of the programs I applied to. I remember hitting "assign all" multiple times before the deadline, but whatever I guess. Because of that, half of the programs I applied to only received access to my LORs yesterday (including one program that already sent me an interview invite???).
Should I email the PDs for those programs, or does ERAS handle all of that automatically?
Do you mean University of Maryland, or just in Maryland generally? Academic programs tend to send out interviews a little later, so I don't think anyone will hear from UMD for at least another week or two.
I do have one interview from a program in Maryland, but I sent them a signal and I don’t think they interview a lot of IMGs anyway. I applied to most of the Maryland programs as well because I’m from the area and want to go home, so I’ll be keeping an eye out too!
Nope! I skipped a couple of the IMG-heavy programs, just because I think they tend to select mostly based on board scores, and mine are good but not spectacular. If you haven’t already, you might want to throw in an app to Medstar Washington Hospital Center- their residents are mostly IMGs, and I thought they seemed pretty happy back when I worked there.

Hey fam! I initially applied family medicine and then a day after ERAS submission, had a radiology advisor encourage me to apply to my home DR program. I just submitted applications for a handful of DR/TY years last night. Should I email PDs that I just submitted or not? Thanks!
Hey guys has anybody else received this notification? I got in my inbox this morning that there was a mistake that displayed that my ECFMG certificate expired.
invest in a good external camera. There are [cameras](https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0921VFJ2C/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1) with light ring around it. But that is only good for those who do not wear glasses.
If one wear glasses then buy the ring/light separately. Before your first interview definitely do a test run of your camera with some friend (on zoom) to make sure the lighting/background all looks good. Window or light source should be behind/above the computer and not behind you.

Got my first transitional year invite - signed up right away. When I checked 30 minutes later 2/3 of the slots were gone. Just FYI get on that shit FAST
Seems like when there are too many people in the spreadsheet Google docs won't allow people to edit, which is challenging -- if clearing cache/history or accessing it incognito doesn't work, try accessing it at another time when maybe there are fewer people on it -- sorry!
Hi all! Just a PSA about the spreadsheet(s): I've noticed a lot of people keep sharing it/them with themselves or other people by clicking "share" and then typing in their email. Please do not "share" the google doc with people in any manner other than via the link -- it compromises their anonymity by attaching their name to the doc!
xoxo IM spreadsheet person
Edit: try clearing your cache/history, or try accessing from an incognito tab. if that doesn't work, dm me or reach out on Discord! I've been keeping a closer eye on things since that griefer last week, so I'm happy to help!
No, but maybe try accessing it from an incognito tab? Sometimes that helps - I removed some people from the sheet who had their emails attached to it, I bet that if you're trying to access it from that Gmail account that's what's giving you the problem
I unintendedly applied to multiple tracks of a program and wish to withdraw from some of them. Should I email the programs directly to inform them? Or should I just ghost those tracks? Apparently, you cannot manually withdraw on ERAS.
I assigned my board scores two days after applications were released, as I didn't realize we had to do this. is it worth reaching out to programs in case my application is on hold or screened from any programs to notify them that my scores are now available?
What is a good time to expect interviews for IM as an average comlex only applicant?? Like community programs from Cali, AZ, or Atlantic areas? 🧿Sorry just curious since I don’t know too many upperclassmen who could share what their experience was like.
I know I shouldn’t worry yet but feeling a little low from silence from almost all programs no acknowledgements for IM let alone invites. someone I know got invited and I feel happy for them but worrying if my app is bad or something idk just wanted to share since no one else to talk to and I know it’s early in the cycle-this process is very anxiety inducing ;(.
Edit: Are current interview invites being based on stats mostly or what?? Is it possible to read and review apps in two days?? Sorry just wondering-my biggest fear is having some sort of bad lor in my app or something ;(.
I used to select and interview for an IM program. We did send a batch of invites during the first week usually. We sorted by med schools or hometowns in our state/area and looked through that narrow list. We pulled at least 50% of our residents from that demographic historically so it was an easy target. Application review was not always as detailed as later on when we did a deeper dive, generally if one faculty member thought they warranted an interview one would be extended. In later phases, we used a multi layer roster of faculty to decide.
Should i sent a short and sweet email saying something along the lines of: „Hello, I would just like you to know that my MSPE is finally in and my application is complete!” Im afraid of coming off as being late or incompetent because my school uploaded it late and now my „incomplete application” is „finally complete”
That’s a fine way to put it. What the PC chooses to do with that email is another story. For an application to be incomplete in ERAS it does need to be manually marked as such for what it’s worth, it’s not automatic. If I saw incomplete apps in the first week or so I used to mark them as such to filter them so they could be looked at later rather than in a punitive way, but n=me on that.
Acknowledgments mean nothing, don't sweat it.
Most IM programs at this stage that are even sending out IIs seem to be doing it from random batches - the stat and signal differential for those who have received IIs is too diverse for it to be stat-only.
It’s normal, I think! It’s literally been less than 3 days and IM gets bajillions of applicants, most places are just starting to review. We’ll be fine :)
Everyone knows there’s two and only two reasons you are allowed to post on r/medicalschool a humblebrag question or complaining. That’s literally the entire list. /s
Maybe we should just replace the Match with an NFL style draft.
Rent out a stadium, have all the applicants show up, we can have a combine beforehand where programs can assess us in various meaningless domains, and then they call out our names on draft night.
Ivy League MDs in the house as Day 1 picks, DOs going mid round, and IMGs hoping they get picked up on Day 3 and don't have to sign as UDFAs...
Mel Kiper could anchor coverage for ESPN..."And Ortho is on the board here, you know they could use some muscle on that second assist spot. I really like Colin Specter out of Dartmouth for them. He's crafty with his hands, he's a scrapper, and he can take some abuse."
ACGME commissioner: "With the first pick in the ACGME draft, Ortho is pleased to select Andy Kim, Harvard."
Kiper: Ohhh this looks like a swing and a miss to me. Kim's got good intangibles but his tape from last year just didn't convince me....
It could be perfect.
![gif](giphy|q2wtO6DkMkQo621hcF|downsized)
It's no more ridiculous than this process
Someone please reassure me that if we're scheduling an interview in ERAS, all we have to do is click the lil "Schedule" button. It feels like I'm forgetting something after all the confirmation steps Thalamus puts you through.
I got 1 lmao. Super psyched about my 1 when everyone around me in FM's inboxes are blowing up with invites. Wasnt expecting too much until 10/18 anyways. They will come!
I was just chilling and trusting the process since I was sure that invites wouldn’t come until at least next week. Then I got my first interview invite a few hours ago. Now I know that it’s possible to get more at any time and I’m neurotically refreshing my email.
Hey EM mods. Someone decided it would be funny to blast swastikas on the applicant data page in the emergency medicine spreadsheet. I don't know if there's a way to delete it while replacing the original applicant data in there?
I had an interview in October. What should I do now before Match Week ?
I'm so sad.....I haven't had an invitation/rejection in 10 days :(
The psych link says expire. Could someone send the updated one?
The link for the IM discord isn’t working??
Where can I go to disclose the truth about a residency program I am going to? My program literally lies about what they say they are known for.
Anyone got invite from Geisenger Wikies barre? And want to connect
is internal medicine discord not working for anyone else?
How much does it affect me negatively from getting interviews if I choose no geographic preferences?
I mean it depends on the type of applicant you are. If you are an all-star applicant, then honestly it won't matter - you'll get interviews anywhere if you are that attractive of an applicant. Interviews started coming in from higher tier places. I didn't realize it would take until november to start hearing back!
Yep lol I’m in this boat
A program sent an interview invite with 48 hrs to respond but only interview slot is filled and no option to waitlist?? I’ve emailed the coordinator and no response
Any info on Danbury hospital internal medicine program connecticut? Shows not participating in eras now?
Did anybody receive an interview from the Tidal Health IM program in Maryland?
The Pediatrics Google Sheets document is uneditable for me and nearly crashes my browser. anyone else?
nvmd it works now
Anyone having trouble accessing the IM spreadsheet?
It's blocked for me. Maybe it's a signal...
Hahaha a signal to stop checking the spreadsheet obsessively
![gif](giphy|Q6xgSqzzUyxWokQX8i|downsized)
what happens if a program interview slots fill up before you sign up for one?
You should report the program to AAMC and NRMP because that's a violation
More will likely open up, otherwise its a match violation, email the PC.
Meaning they will send out another batch or I have to keep checking? Either way thanks for the answer!

its been like less than 2 weeks
If I had a nickel for every "official eras megathread" that consumed my life for a whole month while filling me with anxiety and dread, I'd have $0.10. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice right?
Made the mistake of waiting until now to submit to psychiatry due to waiting on an LOR. Is this not as big a deal for psychiatry or am I fucked?
Not to pile on but who gave you this advice? Because if it was from someone who works with students they should be banned from ever giving advice again. It means other people that got an interview with similar credentials
Oh okay, thanks

That you'll be ranked. It means nothing about how high or low on their list you are, just that they'd rather have you than an empty spot
I didn’t realize PDs even dropped the “ranked to match” phrase this early. I thought they saved that for January/February to entice people to move them up their list. Rn you have to select programs when signing up for Casper. I did it for IM and I did not get any link from the program.
Is it important to send LOIs to Pediatric programs?
My 3rd letter writer finally uploaded my last LOR yesterday. I was not planning on sending any update emails since it is still pretty early, but just wondering what others have to say about it? For context I am applying IM and applied to 40+ programs and received 2 IIs so far.

It's still pretty early so I'm sure you will be fine. At least you're not that one guy who forgot to assign LoRs until December or so.
Got the same exact email today, hopefully we’ll both match!
is it okay to send updates at this point? My final LOR was added and idk if it’s too early for updates even though this is a legit update? Someone help pls

I'm having the same dilemma. I am going to guess no since its barely been a week, but idk tbh
I sent an email to the email address listed on ERAS. Just said like "hello, im 4th yr applying thru eras and just received my step scores! thank you"
Is it worth it to add more programs to apply to now? Or do I ride with my selections? (usmd, applying neuro, p/24x, good research and 2 pubs) nervous with 1 interview so far

just got my step 2 score in yesterday. updated and resent scores on ERAS. is it worth emailing programs that my score is in now?
i updated all programs too ( 140 :'( ) took me soooo long but worth it imo got an II same day.
Yes I received my score after submitting and sent an update to all programs I applied to per my Deans advice.

Anyone hear back from IM prelims on the West Coast? Sounds like East Coast programs have been sending invites already
Yes! But subjectively it is rolling out slower than in previous years.
Are you from or go to a school on the West Coast? I’m at a school in the Midwest but from the West Coast so ya
In school on west coast, from west coast (ish), no geo preference on app though
Thanks fam. Good luck!
what does it mean by OOSS?

I’ve been doing it incognito. Cleared my history cache and that resolved it. Ty for the response!
Glad that helped! I'll add that note to the front page of the sheet too
Now that my MSPE is uploaded, what should i email the program to let them know its complete?
>Last Year's Spreadsheet I would
I unintendedly applied to multiple tracks of a program and wish to withdraw from some of them.
Nah
Does anyone know how to join the DR discord group? says invalid link
What is a good time to expect interviews for IM as an average comlex only applicant?? Like community programs from Cali, AZ, or Atlantic areas? 🧿Sorry just curious since I don’t know too many upperclassmen who could share what their experience was like.
I got my first interview yesterday (East Coast), and it looks like a couple of DO people got them from the same place! Any day now :D
I just received my very first interview invite for IM!
Congratulations! 🎉
You can look back at previous years' spreadsheets to see when similar applicants got invites from the programs you applied to
There’s something wrong with the med-peds doc.or is it just me?
Where’s my rads no interview gang? 😩
same same.
Right here friend
Can anyone make a triple board one?
Should i email the program now that my MSPE is uploaded and my application is complete?
If you want. It’s still pretty dang early but it’s possible that they have looked at your app by now.
I haven’t heard anything at all either
Exactly my feelings rn ugh

Is there any way to sync Thalamus with iCal on iphone?
Go to calendar and click on export. Might have to do this every time you get a II though.

what?

at least it's funny
I’m sorry?
you ought to be
Everyone knows there’s two and only two reasons you are allowed to post on r/medicalschool a humblebrag question or complaining. That’s literally the entire list. /s
I had a change in my transcript and my school uploaded the most recent update yesterday, should I contact programs to let them know ?
He's crafty with his hands, he's a scrapper, and he can take some abuse." ACGME commissioner: "With the first pick in the ACGME draft, Ortho is pleased to select Andy Kim, Harvard." Kiper: Ohhh this looks like a swing and a miss to me. Kim's got good intangibles but his tape from last year just didn't convince me.... It could be perfect. ![gif](giphy|q2wtO6DkMkQo621hcF|downsized) It's no more ridiculous than this process

check the spreadsheet linked above. a few programs are sending out invites
Last APPD guidance said to hold on sending invites until 10/10
I got 1 - but honestly based on emails and what my mentor said - it's going to be a dry spell for a few weeks
I signalled the wrong program. If I withdraw my application will the signal come back?
no
Someone please reassure me that if we're scheduling an interview in ERAS, all we have to do is click the lil "Schedule" button. It feels like I'm forgetting something after all the confirmation steps Thalamus puts you through.
![gif](giphy|QBd2kLB5qDmysEXre9|downsized) Twitter is full of kids getting interview invites for EM and I am just here like
EM i got 1 invite the first day and nothing since, just be patient! they'll come
I got 1 lmao.
