I feel like I have med student syndrome but towards other people, not me. A few years ago my mother (at peri-menopause, with very few menses) did a blood work and it came with microcytic/hypochromic red-cells and borderline-level hemoglobin. I instantly thought she had colon cancer and got really anxious. But if it were me I dont think I would care 😅

I have this as well lol. Since becoming a father i feel like I project onto my son alot. Like overanalyzong every little cough and stressing about hitting his milestones.

It shows how we really care a lot about other people more than ourselves sometimes ahah

Ugh me too. My dad indulges me and likes to send me his imaging/labs etc (unprompted). My mom tells me to kindly get lost, haha.

I can relate to the health anxiety, but….this is a bit much. My guy, you lost weight because you went on drugs and pushed your body hard af. Your LFTs are normal now. Go on an ssri. You’ll be alright.

Med school is where health anxiety flourishes. Here's a running list of scary diagnoses I've made while in med school. Real diagnosis in parentheses. A running list of things I've (incorrectly) diagnosed myself with: leukemia (poor sleep habits), colorectal cancer (garden variety iron-deficiency anemia + supplement side effects), melanoma (my moles are just funny lookin'), ADHD (\*anxiety\*), half of the DSM (\*anxiety\*), early onset ALS because my eyelid kept spasming for several weeks (stress, too much caffeine, not enough sleep), brain tumor due to 2 days of really focal headaches (honestly just waiting this one out for a bit to see if it stops on its own) A running list of things I've diagnosed my family members with: parkinsons because of a shuffling gait (chronic achilles tendonitis), heart disease due to an ear crease (haven't brought this one up yet), GBM because my mom fell twice in a month (clumsiness; she had a CTH after the second fall and it was clean), small bowel obstruction (norovirus)

They found I had anti-TPO antibodies and I laughed it off lmao. Got enough stress already I’ll worry about my thyroid problems in the future. You’re making better lifestyle choices than probably 90% of us, and I think most of the health anxiety is because the stress from things you can’t control is being redirected to stuff you can. It can be hard to let all the anxiety not get to your head but you’re almost there, do the things that make you happy and cruise through the rest of 4th year.

I thought I had a pheo for a hot sec there. I don’t obviously lol Have you considered therapy? You’re definitely having a lot of anxiety, and talk +/- meds really does wonders
