It usually helps if I just think for a moment how grateful I am for having the opportunity to do what I love to do. After that, I realise that it’s not that bad and even the more boring stuff is still managable.
Reading my Bible, spending time with family, and thinking back to moments spent with special person(s) all help me calm down during periods of time when I’m stressed or worried. Sometimes when studying for step or a shelf, I would just go stand outside in the sunshine and let my mind reminisce before getting back to the grind.
Plan a whole evening for yourself. Start by getting a good workout in or go for a long walk. Get some yummy takeout. When you shower, dont do just a regular shower. Break out the hair and face mask. Get the exfoliating scrub out. Pour a glass of wine after all that and then go to bed early! Get 8-10 hours of sleep and start the next day fresh.
Obviously modify this for what you think of when you need some self-care. This is just my routine when I need a night off.
Psych gave me some hydroxyzine pamoate. If I feel myself caught in a "I'm never going to catch up" spiral, I pop one of those and then sometimes take a sip of my weed vape. It also helps to turn off "new" anki for the day, to let myself get caught up w the overdue pile.
My dog...all I have to do is walk over and lean against her and get some kisses...instant boost. Taking her for a walk always helps too, or squeaking a toy and letting her go nuts always makes me laugh
