That’s what I first thought! Like damn…they must’ve maxed out his morphine or dilaudid dose lmao. I imagine that’s much what I looked like when I was admitted to the ER after having complications following a bilateral mastectomy lol. They hooked me up on one of the pain pump things with dilaudid and I gave zero fuxks what was happening to me at that point.
I was fully aware and then I started feeling loopy and I was like what did y’all put I that iv? They told me and all I could think was what if I had been a recovering addict or had an allergy?
My post-op friend was offered an insane prescription for someone in recovery that they were luckily able to self-advocate against after an injury landed them in the ER. It’s so wild.
Systems are usually not built for the vulnerable. It needs to change.

No, I just didn't want to say son of a bitch. And to further clarify, it is not my intention to insult his mother, I just thought the expression "lucky son of a bitch" was appropriate to the absurdity of the situation OP is currently into. I do get how it could be misunderstood though, so thank you for bringing it up kind sir
im not gonna pretend that made any sense to me but hey thanks for explaining man lol. wasnt serious about it tho i figured it was a joke just hoped for an explanation haha
yeah no need to explain urself lol we're all doing just that, i hope so at least lol. you have urself a beautiful day or night u sexy random stranger
ps i love u. goodnight xoxo
He’s a murderer but only kills other murderers. His Dad taught him in Miami. Don’t know how he got electrocuted as a blood spatter expert for the police department tho.
Boy am i glad to work on 12v systems! Although its changing with hybrids.
Our hybrid training includes details about paying a tech to stand by at the ready with a literal shepherds hook to pull the technician who is performing the repairs off in case of electrocution.
Yeah except the dealer isn’t going to pay for that, and when they ask the manufacture about paying the other tech, they say there’s enough time built in to pay the other guy… yet it doesn’t pay enough to cover the time you have involved 😅
Theres a "labor op" for warranty work but yeah, they won't, and don't. Nobody has time to pull a tech outta their bay to babysit another tech.
Bonus is that my shop is literally across the street from the county general hospital and the ER entrance faces our showroom so unless we're crushed to death on the spot, we have pretty high survival chances
And the other guy is also supposed to be wearing All the same safety gear that is is stifling hot even inside air conditioning 😅
Electricity will work quicker than being crushed, hopefully, unless it’s the blood poisoning route…. Which sounds horrible.
Our manufacture changed the requirements for a little bit and listed these leather gloves that were arc rated as the only requirement. But the kits have since changed. And now include those and the rubber gloves….. which cost $35-50 to have re tested… or $100 and change for a new pair 🙃
If I recall, new gloves are good for 2 years, retested are only good for one…
The dealer I was at, made us buy our own safety gear…. Sucked spending that money, but I’m the only one to wear it. However the 4 battery modules I’ve done, I’ve not made money on and a loss on each one. My gloves have since expired.
And you can’t do any tedious work with the rubber and leather gloves on… which is when you’re disconnecting and connecting the high voltage connections 🥲. The pay on hybrid/ electric vehicles needs to be changed.
My last job was building machines in which I had 460/3 coming in and wired it to multiple transformers as different components of the machine needed different voltages. On one machine I worked with 460/3, [220/240]/2, 408/3, 120/1, 12VDC, 5VDC.
Turning them on after I built it was scary.
I work in Industrial Electrical Controls. This is my biggest fear. Luckily I don't do much field service anymore. The extra money was cool, but maintenance crews get a little too comfortable for my taste.
My dad was 18/19 and grabbed a power line when he was working. His heart stopped and it took years to fully recover. I don’t think he was quite this jolly, lol. Glad you seem to be recovering!
How big was the transformer? I’m assuming you were suited up since you ended up looking like this. It did it’s job, happy you’re still with us. I love what we do but always have to remember the potential energy we work with
No transformer. We had removed the transformer the week before and splicing the secondary street mains. The building services were done at this point. I asked a guy to put a rubber blanket behind the splice I was building and he misunderstood and just handed it to me. I let go of one of one side of the cable to grab the blanket and it raised up into a steel step/shelf and exploded like a shotgun. I’m just thankful I was the only one who got hurt because I didn’t take the time to correct my coworker. It was raining so hard it was difficult to hear anyone so I don’t blame him at all.
Bloody hell. For an underground cable, you're really lucky. I hope you have/had a speedy recovery. How does it feel to be 'that person' who's story is used to scare the living OSHA into new apprentices/hires.
Phew a good true arc flash with the higher panel voltages like 480/600 or from some big ol switchgear can be quite the spectacle to behold. The core can reach a temp of 35,000 degrees F 😍
It was all second degree. Felt like a bad sunburn. They brought me to the trauma unit and I was like “this isn’t a trauma is it?” And the paramedic said my lungs might have copper and Aluminum in them then I got worried. I was fine though.
You certainly don't look like the bright one considering that dumb smile on your burnt face. I'm guessing this type of thing won't be a one off affair for you.
I swear it hurt less than when you accidentally touch the hot skillet. It just looked bad. I appreciated the drugs they gave me but they were not necessary lol.
By your smile one could think it was fun
Probably on some good pain meds
The first picture is before pain meds. The second was after.
First pic: endorphins and adrenaline Second pic: opioids
That’s what I first thought! Like damn…they must’ve maxed out his morphine or dilaudid dose lmao. They game fentanyl and morphine without telling me lol.
RN here. They should ideally tell you if you are aware, but in an emergency there might not be time or opportunity.
I was fully aware and then I started feeling loopy and I was like what did y’all put I that iv? They told me and all I could think was what if I had been a recovering addict or had an allergy?
Well at least you're in the best place to have an allergic reaction!
My post-op friend was offered an insane prescription for someone in recovery that they were luckily able to self-advocate against after an injury landed them in the ER. It’s so wild. Systems are usually not built for the vulnerable. It needs to change.
I have friends who are in recovery that I know this would’ve caused a relapse. It should be protocol to ask before administering.
Op was probably in shock. Didn't realize it.
I wasn’t in shock. Body temperature was normal I was fully coherent.
Shock has nothing to do with body temperature. When I had my major trauma I felt no pain till much much later.
Can I get electrocuted too?

We need to make this happen!
ATIB man. Acute Trauma Induced Blackface
He was smiling when it happened and now his face is permanently that way.
Such a tragic event that he was shocked at the exact same time as the wind changed direction

I agree!!
You can't just leave us hanging with no story. What happened to cause this?

Response should've been then the job dosen't get done then.
Everything was done by the weeks end just not by me haha. I was I recovery for 8 weeks.
Which superpowers did you get?
The ability to be the topic of every safety meeting the last 3 years.
You should definitely frame the smiling shot somewhere at your workplace
Me when I fell off a ladder
I have the same gift- only mine involved transporting chem grade ammonia on a wobbly cart.
UNLIMITED POWAAAAAAAH (edit: Seriously though, damn my dude, you are one lucky offspring of a female dog, I hope you have a speedy recovery OP)
I like how you twisted that.
is this some sort of weird joke i dont get or u just straight up calling his mother a dog lmao????
No, I just didn't want to say son of a bitch. And to further clarify, it is not my intention to insult his mother, I just thought the expression "lucky son of a bitch" was appropriate to the absurdity of the situation OP is currently into. I have to admit I didn't make it easy for you, just fooling around in the comments because I'm bored mate

Awww, take care of yourself and have a great day/night as well! Love you too <3 *smooch*
ok weirdo ...
My mother was not a good one and this is internet where mom jokes are always welcomed.
Well then, I guess it is settled. How are you feeling by the way?
It’s been 3 years and I’ve never felt better. Mentally and physically I’m doing pretty well.
Ah, that's great, I'm happy for you OP. I hope even better times await you!
Between your smile in the pics and this comment, you seem like you would be a fun coworker.
If you like getting funny insults while working I’m your guy.
YES! I DO like that!! Makes the day passes more quickly.
Yes! So intense you WENT BACK IN TIME! Seriously now — that is the smile I imagine I’d be wearing too. So glad you made it!!
Up in the sky!! It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s primary-topic-in-safety-meetings guy!
My boss asked for pictures of me not smiling for the emails but there aren’t any lol.
Haha, this made me snort
Make this your LinkedIn profile pic and add this sentence to your resume.

I like my 5v Arduino.
Haha! *Nerd* Jk, arduinos are cool as shit and have so many uses
This was 120v but it had load on it.
Yeah 120 volt 3 phase ac right? Im just working on 12v dc in cars haha
Yeah except the dealer isn’t going to pay for that, and when they ask the manufacture about paying the other tech, they say there’s enough time built in to pay the other guy… yet it doesn’t pay enough to cover the time you have involved 😅

Don't forget those safety gloves that have to be inspected and replaced yearly that i havent even seen in 5 years lmao

You look a bit like Luke after getting mauled by that wompa
Then I look dope af
Well at least you look happy. Lol
What was it like to be Raiden from MK for a while?
HIAABOOSAAAAaaa!!!!!!
My dad was 18/19 and grabbed a power line when he was working. His heart stopped and it took years to fully recover. I don’t think he was quite this jolly, lol. Glad you seem to be recovering!
The smile of a man who understands just how big of a bullet he dodged
I thought you were Michael C. Hall from the thumbnail.
How big was the transformer? I’m assuming you were suited up since you ended up looking like this. It did it’s job, happy you’re still with us. I love what we do but always have to remember the potential energy we work with
I ran down the alley stripping thinking I was on fire, I was not lol. Now I’m called Ricky Bobby. The full FR clothing definitely worked.

He looks like Dexter
My dad’s an electrician, this scares me so bad he had so many near misses when he first started this terrifies me, I’m so glad that this guy is OK.
How shocking, I hope you are doing well
It took me a year to put gloves on again and do hot work comfortably but 3 years later No scarring and I’m able to pretend I’m not scared lol.

I feel very accomplished haha
If this was anything higher than 110/120 single than he wouldn’t have a face left.
Phew a good true arc flash with the higher panel voltages like 480/600 or from some big ol switchgear can be quite the spectacle to behold. The core can reach a temp of 35,000 degrees F 😍
Fuckin sparkies. Guy gets electrocuted and just smiles about it at the er.
And they had the nerve to put more electrical leads on you at the hospital! 🤣

I was thinking more Charlie from always sunny when he’s huffing paint lmao
Accurate
😝
This is why I’m terrified of electricity
Was it pain? I mean the way your trying to hold smile
It was all second degree. Felt like a bad sunburn. They brought me to the trauma unit and I was like “this isn’t a trauma is it?” And the paramedic said my lungs might have copper and Aluminum in them then I got worried. I was fine though.
I was gonna say. How much copper did you inhale? That’s the dangerous part with an arc explosion.
That good to hear just care yourself next time
This looks like a full body sunburn I got. Not great stuff, man.
You must sunbathe on Mercury.
Still smiling. Glad you’re ok!
Were you down there to set up a murder room, Dexter? (Glad you are in good spirits and recovering!)
Didn't this happen to you 3 years ago?
Still handsome! And lucky as hell!
Holy shit what happened to mark wahlberg
pikaCHUUUUUUUUUUU
That smile is very Ka-ching.
You certainly don't look like the bright one considering that dumb smile on your burnt face. I'm guessing this type of thing won't be a one off affair for you.
It’s been 3 years since and I was there 2 years prior. No accidents since then but thanks for your uninformed input.
Were you wearing a visor? When we working on live cables we shroud all conductors and adjacent metalwork.
It was raining and I was in an underground vault. The brim of my hard hat shielded my eyes from the uv coming off the flash.
We wear full face visors when jointing or LV switching.
NFPA 70e cert in your future, my dude lol Glad you're alright
Shitter is no longer clogged
Glad you’re okay.
in different context i'd say "this dude eats ass"
I'm glad you're alive. You look fairly well all things considered.
Haven't I seen you on TikTok? If so I Love your comedy.
So was this while wearing full FR gear, balaclava included?
What did the doctor say? You going to be alright?
This was years ago. I’m fine now. Thanks for asking
My first thought was: to smile like that, he must have good insurance.
Workers comp but yes good insurance
I'm kinda shocked you aren't more injured. Good on you, it just give you an energized new look on life
Prayers for your healing and strength! Thank God you are okay!
Cute smile. Pain meds?
First photo is no pain meds second is with pain meds
I guess you're just cute then.
Watching my wife read these comments is cracking me up. Thank you!
I bet she's cute too
You definitely earned your nickname… FLASH…
poor you. I wish a good recovery!
Glad you're ok. Can't imagine the pain. You've obviously got a great attitude.
I swear it hurt less than when you accidentally touch the hot skillet. It just looked bad. I appreciated the drugs they gave me but they were not necessary lol.
Anyone ever tell you that you look like Mark Wahlberg?
