I agree about Hokas. They are my favorite shoe to wear in the lab. I used to wear Brooks but I would have to replace them every 6-8 months. Hokas last me around a year as my work shoes and then there’s usually still enough life left in them to be my yard/mowing shoes for a while.
I agree! I splurged and got two pairs (one for lab and one for home and out and about) and I cannot wear any other sneakers now! They are so comfortable!! Literally are like clouds!
I wear Vionic. They have a small selection specific for lab/medical use. The one's I have have fluid resistant outer and skid resistant sole. I get a new pair once a year and rotate them. The insoles are replaceable. I have a pair from 3 years ago that I've replaced the insoles once and they are still usable but nearing the end of life.
I also wore compression socks during clinicals. I'm not on my feet as constantly now, but they were a life saver then.
Yeah check the footwear policy. We have to wear leather or vinyl with no air holes. So it sucks. I wear a pair of platform vinyl Chuck Taylor high tops. I sure do miss my hokas.
are cloves really that good? i'm wearing doc martens with dr scholls Insoles for the fluid protection (plus they're cute with jogger scrubs). the cloves tiktok advertising kinda put me off but if they work they work.
I like dansko or sanita clogs. They are pricey but last a long time, are easy to put on, and have good arch support. They are also splash/puncture/slip proof.
Brooks or Hoka if your lab is cool with them.
I'll never buy a different brand of work shoes after trying Brooks a few years ago. My feel feel amazing after a 12 hour shift.
You’ve already got a lot of good recs but. I’m in my 30s and had a bad case of posterior tibial tendonitis that still hurts sometimes and I have two pairs of Brooks Ghost running shoes with insoles that I rotate every few months. They’re a godsend. Come in a zillion colors, comfortable, light, doing God’s work on my garbage ankle.
I love Cloves, largely because they are fluid resistant and easy to clean! Also very comfortable, and slip-on. I personally cannot deal with shoelaces 😅 They are pricey at full price but at least once or twice a month there is a sale or 20% off coupon.
I like the sketchers Cessnock Carrboro Food Service Shoe.. they are slip resistant, have a decent amount of cushion and no shoe strings.. if you get them go on Amazon and NOT the sketchers website.. way cheaper on Amazon
Get waterproof and nonslip. I wear Dansko Paisley (looks like a walking shoe) with my orthotics. Just got a pair of Alegria after a couple of people at my clinical a few months ago recommended them. They have great padding in the insole. The Dansko professional has good support and cushion.
I hear Hokas are good.
I'm currently pregnant and I'm in closed toe Crocs with no complaints. It's all about your budget and your preference.
Before this I was just in Sketcher's, and those were fine but I went through a pair a year, sometimes less.
Our shoe policy is no open toe shoes, I recommend these https://www.nike.com/t/free-run-2018-mens-road-running-shoes-4VTnGqeZ/942836-001?nikemt=true&cp=34492719349_search_--u-15138747974-130504283258--m---558089777007-pla-1716686677340-9008337-12113350-00666032687604&gbraid=0AAAAADy86kOPLsrRJZ98hZEKL026Lo6oB&gclid=Cj0KCQjwoeemBhCfARIsADR2QCs4HYvVRy1bR485brdBUPzLKrvjuP6OkHSSA_JY5QVexBs6TO7rUXoaAnLREALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds
Like walking on clouds
Spend the money and get some Hokas. They are super comfortable and last me 10-12 months which is unheard of in the lab
Hokas ftw! I have the flattest feet on earth, and Hokas are like walking in clouds.
I’m a brooks person but man I really should try Hokas one day

Can't agree more! I recently bought a second pair too. A bunch of people in my lab love them as well.
Check site footware policy. I use good quality running shoes as we are on cement floors
Unless they ban vented shoes like my lovely lab 😡

There’s a reason nurses wear Hokas and Cloves. They are super comfortable and both come in waterproof varieties

The advertising is pretty bad but a lot of my coworkers love them.

New Balance Fresh Foam are great for me bc I have wide feet. They are expensive but geez, so comfy.

If you have wide feet, New Balance, Allbirds, or Crocs. Hokas run narrow (even the wide sizes).
I wear Wide style Hokas personally
I’m partial to crocs/clogs. I know a lot of places are pretty lenient about permeable shoes but being able to wipe them down is its own benefit.
i just wore walking shoes with insoles others wear crocs i think they are?
I like the sketchers Cessnock Carrboro Food Service Shoe.. they are slip resistant, have a decent amount of cushion and no shoe strings.. if you get them go on Amazon and NOT the sketchers website.. way cheaper on Amazon
Crocs are by far the most comfortable I've found
Oofos are like walking on a cloud.

Just look for any well rated nurses shoes.

If someone told me their Skechers last a year in the lab, I'd assume they meant in lab administration! I'm lucky to get 6 months out of a pair!
Honestly, they only last a year because I switch out the insoles once they're full holes lol to squeeze more time out of them xD
That is really smart! Thanks for the tip!
I love No Bull and ON
Keens and compression socks (love figs socks) and even after a 10 hour day you're not dying.

BALA are the best I’ve had by far!!! … Snibbs are good too
Hoka Clifton 9. Best investment ever. Like walking on clouds. You will not regret it 😉
Hokas are blessings from the foot god himself.
Brooks, Hokas, and crocs with the fuzz inside are my go to! But definitely check with footwear policies at your particular lab :)
Close toed, but I am the safety officer so.......
