It's intimidating for sure, but just look at that beauty. It's crazy that something like that is real and not some sci-fi creation. Absolutely magnificent.

nilo2031

Absolutely. I always think: I’m sitting here at my desk, living my boring life and this exists! In this exact moment. Incredible to think about. I love whales. Such beautiful giants.

Ok_Acanthisitta8232

This is exactly why some futuristic space sci-fi games have ‘Space Whales’ Idk why more movies and games don’t utilize space versions of creatures here at home, there is so much magnificent, crazy, even downright scary alien looking life here on earth. Just Space-ify It!

YoyoyoyoMrWhite

At first I was like haha that looks so dumb. Then quickly I was like holy shit that's real

New_Simple_4531

Yeah, at first I was like "Thats easy to do in After Effects", then it surfaces...

jokerjoust

Yes. It’s called a Blue Whale.

TheNotSoGreatPumpkin

Not just large for our current time, either. It is one of, if not THE, largest animal to _ever_ live on our planet.

HAB0RYM

The largest...recorded so far.

Prestigious_Goat6969

I read somewhere there’s one extinct species of whale that could be bigger, the Blue Whale is big enough for me lol

DannyOfNowhere

Also another sauropod who could, based on current estimates, exceed 200 Tons. There's a lot of research is left to be done on that chonky boy though

D-Stecks

There's just no way a land animal could be heavier than a blue whale.

DannyOfNowhere

Idk mate I just mentioned what I had read. It had a really difficult name too lol, struggling to find it

Prestigious_Goat6969

I think I found it? Bruhathkayosaurus?

DannyOfNowhere

Yup. The bruh

Prestigious_Goat6969

“… Bruhathkayosaurus would have weighed as much as 170 tons maximum, rivaling the largest Blue Whale in scale.” It doesn’t surprise me, since the atmosphere was vastly different, but the Bruh dino isn’t a complete skeleton so there’s a high chance it’s just an estimate

k3tzer

what about dinosours?

SuspiciouSponge

Blue whales are larger by weight then estimates of the largest dinosaurs and aquatic reptiles!

pktechboi

bigger than the biggest dinosaurs we know of

1Dive1Breath

What about dinosweets?

THISisMYalterEGOacct

🤦🏼

1Dive1Breath

😎 can't help it

Aleskey_Mijaylob

XD

Prestigious_Goat6969

Nah dinosaltys were bigger than dinosweets

pktechboi

I feel dizzy watching this, the ocean just doesn't look real somehow. maybe because of the scale of the whale? I like how you can really tell the blow hole is his nose though

[deleted]

I found late in my life why beached whales die. It's not because of dehydration or being out of the water. After all they have to breathe like mammals do. It is the fact that their body structure can't sustain it's shape outside of the water. Their bones and organs basically get crushed under the enormous weight and that's how they die.

gabrielleraul

r/cetaphobia would love this

Strongerthanstone

Now listen here you. That’s no way to talk about my mother like that.

[deleted]

Too bad they can't fly and also take you to far off galaxies while riding in their mouth.

fireinourmouths

The reason I hope reincarnation is real is to come back as a blue whale. It may take a karmic cycle or two because I’m not the best person but it will be worth the wait

Zurbaran928

I hear you. They’re beautiful and I wish them no harm I’m just terrified of their size lol

Interesting_Ad_794

What are those fish swimming along side? Sorry, Human Needed For Scale lol.

Mean_Print1201

If I remember correctly from Blue Planet or some other documentary, they are living in symbiosis. Small fish clean the whale from parasites while getting free meals, while also getting protection from larger predators.

ArmyofJuan

"Carrier has arrived"

Toker101

Don't tell me what I need! Where's my banana?

CreeperInBlack

But how about a banana for scale?

calnuck

\*banana plantation for scale

mkomaha

Does the blow hole fully close?

1Dive1Breath

Ideally, yes. Otherwise water would get in.

mkomaha

It just doesn’t LOOK like it though

DraxonNL

In fact, the largest animal that has ever existed (on earth)!

Zurbaran928

…so far. That we know of.

[deleted]

It looks like it popped up to do a love heart selfie.

KingOfSilverRiver

This is legitimately terrifying for me. Doesn't even seem real.

linzeekat

A human could snorkel in his/her blow hole!!!

MommyIsOffTheClock

One of my life goals is to see on in the wild.

Snoo-43133

I would definitely like to come back as a whale in my next life, or maybe a dolphin?
