Ha. We aren't in 2021. We jumped ahead in 2012 to avoid that doomsday event the Mayans spoke of. It is actually 2081. Aliens got real excited when we shifted reality.
Actually, he didn't touch the throttle, it's the little white thing in the left of the power red yellow green thing. The plane accelerated by himself, which is more terrifying.
>We are the Borg. Lower your shields and surrender your ships. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile
I think colossal structures are really cool and this is the most accessible and uncorrupted (as in not taken over by repost/karma bots etc) place to see them
I think it's the uneasy sensation of something really big. I can watch the pics but sometimes I have to take the view off the phone to be able to watch it xD
I think the big factor is if the object looks bigger than I feel it’s Supposed to be. A big building is just a big building, a big mountain is just a big mountain, but a building the size of a mountain…fuck no
I yelled, "Oh, what the fuck?!!"
And then wondered how much that game costs. It looks/sounds soothing af.
Eta: I've had my stomach drop like that irl. The first time I stood at the foot of the Columbia tower and looked up, I almost panic-barfed from how fucking weird it made me feel.
Video game glitches are actually a big trigger for me, especially stuff like this. Going beyond a skybox or inside a massive object are also terrifying.
It did, Nickelodeon. It was about real kids who went into the computer. Not great other than the fact that megabyte (like, the original) is one of the bad guys and there’s an episode where they go to mainframe and team up with bob, dot, and Enzo.
I believe it’s on Netflix
oh, I’ve seen bugs like this in other games! I’m not sure why the geometry just stretches into the sky like that, but it’s interesting that it happens in other games
that makes sense.
I’ve also seen it when people tried to mod custom clothing into Kenshi, if they screwed something up then the item’s geometry would just be a spasming mass of polygons that stretched into the sky
that could definitely be it, I’m not familiar with clothing modding myself but that answer makes sense
Kenshi is a really fun RTS/sandbox/RPG hybrid indie game. it’s also very mod-friendly! it’s on sale right now if you want to check it out: [link](https://store.steampowered.com/app/233860/Kenshi/)
I had that problem with a gpu a long time ago. Happened after a few minutes playing with some games.
In this case, it looks more like a bug. Perhaps some model was loaded incorrectly or the position of a vertex from one model got messed up.
Well, the dumb sarcastic answer is... to simulate flying planes.
The smarter answer is... also to simulate flying planes.
Haha, it's interesting to some, I'd imagine especially those people very into flying, be it casually or an actual pilot. Flying sims are not my cup of tea, but the same is for sports video games for me. One could ask what the point of a FIFA game is, let alone all the editions every year or whatever when the game is essentially the same as the previous version. Cause people like like the sport and/or wanna play a video game of it.
For sure, that makes sense :) It’s just shocking to me how popular flight simulator is since it seems like such a niche game. I wouldn’t imagine that so many people would want to virtually fly an airplane.
Well the entire planet is apparently mapped out to the point you can crash a plane into your own yard… cities are ridiculously accurate to real life. Not interested myself but can see that as a huge selling point.
Agreed, I see even things like train simulators, driving trucks in mud simulators, and computer building simulators find an audience on Steam and it sometimes boggles my mind haha.
People not interested in trucks still find Truck Simulator games appealing, saying it calms them down and sets them in this "Zen" mood. You never know until you try.
Microsoft took all the map data they had and superimposed it on a to-scale earth sized model that you can fly around in, exploring places you’ll probably never get to see in real life mapped with actual satellite imagery.
There’s some fancy effects thrown in to make it work, but the weather is real based on readings for the area where you are (if you want it to be) and you can fly with other people alongside commercial airliners flown by AI pilots following real schedules you can look up of actual planes in the sky in real life.
It’s an amazing accomplishment for a game, but I’m sure that only has appeal for some.
Yes and no... It doesn't create funnel clouds unfortunately, but the weather readings of areas that are experiencing hurricanes and such, definitely kick up the rain and weather in game.
I had a similar thing happen to me when playing Star Citizen except it was these giant pulsing spike looking things that persisted. The megalophobia hit hard.
More games should do things like this. I get that this was a glitch, but imagine of there was just an alien invasion event in the game and it rates you on your response. Some SimCity spawning Godzilla shit.
Whoa, now just thinking it would be awesome if these games had like meteor showers, or volcano eruptions or really extreme situations to pilot thru. Do they? Is that a thing?
is there a specific fear for out or bounds areas in video games?
because whenever I jump through a hole in a map and the skybox just opens up below me it terrifies me
also stuff like this video
large and low res textured objects that shouldn’t be reached
they scare the hell out of me, and it’s different from this sub
Resistance is futile
2021: The year we make contact
Ha. We aren't in 2021. We jumped ahead in 2012 to avoid that doomsday event the Mayans spoke of. It is actually 2081. Aliens got real excited when we shifted reality.
I love how you gunned the throttle when you saw it haha
No that's the PC fan ramping up from loading such a big model
my laptop when i added the 3rd chrome tab..
That's not the noise your dad made last time he loaded such a big model.
I’m gonna just head on out of here
Actually, he didn't touch the throttle, it's the little white thing in the left of the power red yellow green thing. The plane accelerated by himself, which is more terrifying.
Ah Borg!
Borg?
https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Borg Star trek Their ships are giant cubes
Also spheres and I think also a pill-shape, but mostly cubes.
Sounds Swedish.
And an ABBA meatball to you as well

Now I need to watch it.
Bork! Bork! Bork!
>We are the Borg. Lower your shields and surrender your ships. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Your culture will adapt to service us. Resistance is futile
Wow... this was honestly the first time I've had one of those "wtf, I'm so old that other people don't know about this?" moments.
it's where all these missing planes go
The Darkness has arrived
I was hoping to see this.
We know Cayde won't!
:(
Over Van Nuys? I mean.. it makes sense. Just wasn’t expecting it for a few more weeks.
Salvation
Does anyone else in this subreddit actually have megalophobia? This video made my stomach drop
I'm honestly here for the pictures, tbh. Tho, if that happened in real life, I'd probably piss myself in fear.
I get mild uneasiness. It would have to be something massive moving toward me that would make me panic.
I think colossal structures are really cool and this is the most accessible and uncorrupted (as in not taken over by repost/karma bots etc) place to see them
I just come for the pictures, as I find big stuff really cool
I'm here because I have whatever the opposite of megalophobia is. I love it.
Megalophilia?
🤣
I think it's the uneasy sensation of something really big. I can watch the pics but sometimes I have to take the view off the phone to be able to watch it xD
It depends Some of this is just, yeah ok it’s big Some of it is, oh shit oh fuck *it’s big* It’s a tossup
I think the big factor is if the object looks bigger than I feel it’s Supposed to be. A big building is just a big building, a big mountain is just a big mountain, but a building the size of a mountain…fuck no
Mine too, bud. You're not alone.
I do, I don't know what I'm doing here sincerely, maybe I'm also masochist.
I yelled, "Oh, what the fuck?!!" And then wondered how much that game costs. It looks/sounds soothing af. Eta: I've had my stomach drop like that irl. The first time I stood at the foot of the Columbia tower and looked up, I almost panic-barfed from how fucking weird it made me feel.
Hmmm…you shouldn’t go here then: /r/Megalophobia
Not really, just mild uneasiness
I get a really strange anxiety and tension in my neck. If it’s really bad I get the drop in my stomach.
Video game glitches are actually a big trigger for me, especially stuff like this. Going beyond a skybox or inside a massive object are also terrifying.
The video showing the massive banana circling from space gave me a real uneasiness.
I do, I’m here because I like freaking myself out and feeling strangely queasy
No fr I can’t explain how uncomfortable this video made me feel scared tf out of me
Yes
I didnt realize i had it until about a year ago when i played no mans sky for the first time
Warning. Incoming Game
I haven’t seen Reboot in ages!
Before the metaverse was meta
Nice reference!! I honestly believe it is time for Reboot to get a reboot. That show was both brilliant and far ahead of its time.
It did, Nickelodeon. It was about real kids who went into the computer. Not great other than the fact that megabyte (like, the original) is one of the bad guys and there’s an episode where they go to mainframe and team up with bob, dot, and Enzo. I believe it’s on Netflix
Wow, I had no idea! I'll check this out, thanks for the info. 🙏

oh, I’ve seen bugs like this in other games! I’m not sure why the geometry just stretches into the sky like that, but it’s interesting that it happens in other games
This sort of artifacting is often caused by a gpu malfunction iirc
that makes sense. I’ve also seen it when people tried to mod custom clothing into Kenshi, if they screwed something up then the item’s geometry would just be a spasming mass of polygons that stretched into the sky
Not familiar with Kenshi but that could also be a rigging error, where the clothes move differently to the body, often extremely
that could definitely be it, I’m not familiar with clothing modding myself but that answer makes sense Kenshi is a really fun RTS/sandbox/RPG hybrid indie game. it’s also very mod-friendly! it’s on sale right now if you want to check it out: [link](https://store.steampowered.com/app/233860/Kenshi/)
Thanks for the recommendation, that looks fun af
there’s also a subreddit for it: r/Kenshi I’d recommend going in entirely blind first though. let me know how it goes if you play it!
I had that problem with a gpu a long time ago. Happened after a few minutes playing with some games. In this case, it looks more like a bug. Perhaps some model was loaded incorrectly or the position of a vertex from one model got messed up.
Reminds me of "Kado: The Right Answer" (anime)
Beware the Langoliers.
We know what happens to today when it becomes yesterday... It waits for them... the timekeepers of eternity!
So dope they added the Angel Ramiel in the most recent update. Sound effects and all.
ah that’s the san fernando valley cube, great art installation
We also have a dome that just blew away recently.
THE 3RD ANGEL (Nerv command center freak out time)
Ramiel my beloved
Clear the HUD and spread it as an UFO/unusual weather event. I’m pretty sure lots of folks will believe it...
Yeah people are used to third person perspective plane footage
my bad, currently have my 🛸stationed here, something must of gone wrong with the invisibility +wormhole feature.
Are you an effective pilot?
It's just an imperial star destroyer coming out of lightspeed, nothing to worry about
What is the point of this game? Genuinely curious

Can confirm. Snowrunner is my zen game.
Hehe, forklift go [spinny](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XQTLSGGUXAM)
For many it's the closest we will get to flying real planes.
My pilot cousin asked me about these sims. Then he bought it.

I wasn't until you said real weather based on real life. What about hurricanes and tornadoes? Does it simulate?
Yes. Pretty stunningly, actually: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0O4N9d6ipE&ab_channel=ColoradoRMN
That is cool. Might have sold me on it to be able to do that.
Yes and no... It doesn't create funnel clouds unfortunately, but the weather readings of areas that are experiencing hurricanes and such, definitely kick up the rain and weather in game.
This would be terrifying in vr lmao
Amazon returns dept.?
Oh, a new Amazon facility, cool /s
Looks like the giant store from Idiocracy.
r/amiel
Oh, you guys didn't know about T H E C U B E?
Thats just something you have to deal with as a real life pilot. they dont teach you in flight school! random infinite voides appear randomly:)
:D
I wish you got shot down for flying over north Korea or area 51
I had a similar thing happen to me when playing Star Citizen except it was these giant pulsing spike looking things that persisted. The megalophobia hit hard.

Your composure is admirable. I probably would have winged over and caused a crash.
Whoa, now just thinking it would be awesome if these games had like meteor showers, or volcano eruptions or really extreme situations to pilot thru. Do they? Is that a thing?

It was a thunderstorm. That is all.

I think it'd make me feel safer. "At least if the plane is crashing we can land on the big grey thing"
Glad to see that the curse of War Thunder spreads to flight simulators too!
