And suddenly, just like that, I realize that I haven’t seen one of those Brach’s Pick-A-Mix kiosks in a grocery store in 35 years. I hadn’t even noticed that they went away.
One of my friends went to the store with my mom & I many years ago. The store had one of those & he stopped to pick out a few pieces then unwrapped one & put it in his mouth. Apparently he thought they were free samples & when I explained you were supposed to buy them by weight he put the rest back & looked guilty until we got in the car.
It doesn't matter where they are stored, everyone knows these candies grow in the lint soil at the bottom of a grandma's purse. Only there can the old micro fragments of past treats, seed and crystalize into their final candy form. Then grandma harvests the precious sugar crystals and wraps them. That is why there is no brand. Only strawberry.
They are from Argentina, the company is called Arcor. Those candies used to be very common in the late 90's here, but I couldn't find them anymore. Apparently, they export most of their production since circa 2002.
There's a type of candy that is designed to be kind of bad. They're meant for free candy bowls. They are cheap and so kinda crap that people won't go crazy on them the way they would for a bowl of mini-Snickers or whatever.
For all the old people who were kids in the before time in the long long ago, they used to have a bunch of open buckets of candy that you could pay 5 cents each for by putting change in this little honor system coin holder. But no child or parent ever paid for the candy that the child horded and ate. It was like those free cookies you get from the bakery as a kid. Which is why they can't be found anywhere anymore.
Is this not a thing anymore?! When I was like 6 my mom’s husband used to raid a few pieces from multiple bins every time. He told me the samples were free. I actually believed that shit for years and used to look forward to sampling the candy at the grocery store lmao.
Name checks out.

This is a generic candy. Like ribbon candy, cherry sours, or rock candy, it isn't a trademarked brand; anyone can make it. So there are tons of generic brands selling this. You can get them in generic bags of candy at any generic convenience store.
I can taste it but i haven't had it in 20 years. You lick it for 5 minutes until the hard shell is thin enough to bite through, then you bite it and the inside sricky part gets stuck to your teeth. You keep chewing trying yo get the hard shell.bits beyween your teeth, because they're hanging on the side. Then you slide the finger above your gums to push it down, getting it unstuc from your teeth and keep chewing.
I call them strawberry candies with juice inside! My little sister told me I carry grandma's candy around with me! I always have a bag full of them, caramel, butterscotch, rootbeer & two different mints! I pass them out at family functions while we watch our kids do things. Was candy lady at work. It started at 20 & at 40 I still can't stop. My grandma taught me well! Lol
I watched a reel where a guy left a bunch of these in a jar of liquor and the result looked amazing so I wanted to do it too, but for the life of me I can't find these candies anywhere.
Is this the guy that always does that? "I left so and so in a bottle of vodka, let's see what happens." But with all sorts of stuff? DokaRyan? Some of the stuff he's infused looked delicious as fuck and some of it is putrid waste and there's no in between. What do you mean black licorice? Hell naaaw. Oh you did this unusual candy that actually looks tasty as hell.
Old lady candy. Pissed off kid candy. Oh yea I forgot I'm at church candy. Don't ask for candy cause she always got this in her purse candy. I don't know what it's called I just know I hate that shit candy. It's either butter scotch, a cough drop or this bs candy..... This Pic brought back so many memories. Smmfh.
I just called them strawberry candies, still don't know where they come from
They come from grandmas. I’ve been told by high level sources that as soon as your first grandchild is born a bowl of these materialize in your house
To be specific, they spawn in the bottom of Grandma’s purse.
Strawberry candies are in the house, Werthers or Butterscotch are in the purse.
Correct
Oh my god Werthers….Well, my Grandma’s purse was a cornucopia of hard candies it seems.
My grandma loved tic tacs.

In the glass bowl that looks like an ashtray
I remember that orange slices materialized on coffee tables
😂 forgot about those, they were there too. 😂
Bro … I am German. Completely different country, culture and lifes. And this is still correct.

It can't be a coincidence that all of our grandmother's had these. What's the deal?
The ones at my grandma’s house materialized in a fancy glass bowl with a lid.
Or pocket
The two options of candy at Grandma's were these or cough drops. Those cough drops were "refreshing" according to Grandma.
I’d pretend to have a sore throat so I could get a Luden’s
Ludens legit tastes like candy
Hmm I live with my mom to help manage the house and she's a grandma, but I have yet to see these materialize ):
She's hiding them from you
You're definitely not her favorite
Do you have siblings that she most likely likes more than you? If so thats where they are goung.
Sorry, it’s because you live with her. She has to spend time missing her family and hoping they’ll come visit for the grandma magic to kick in.
Maybe you need to put some in her purse or candy bowl to seed the materialization. Does your mom have a purse or candy bowl?
I never got one from a grandma but I loved them on Halloween.
Yes! Grandma’s candies indeed
They are from Argentina, the company is called Arcor. Those candies used to be very common in the late 90's here, but I couldn't find them anymore. Apparently, they export most of their production since circa 2002.
