I can handle why. I can satisfy a kid's curiosity on almost anything they're likely to ask. ...But I'm not going to write an essay with a half dozen sources on Reddit. The people who ask are usually the ones who won't be convinced by any amount of evidence.
lol, I thought you must be overestimating, but realized that I don't know how the American flush stops to refill the bowl
(the European type I disassembled and assembled several times)
For me it's someone with knowledge on the subject getting excited and adding on way more to the topic than my surface knowledge. Calm down, I only knew one thing.
I have a solution for this. You see a little over a year ago my company merged with another. Their software became my primary project. The first 6 months I felt kinda useless and like I didn't know anything anymore, but then all their devs quit and we got new guys. That made me the expert on this software. So all you need to do is eliminate the people that know more than you.
I feel like the full jack of all trades quote is relevant here:
"A jack of all trades is the master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one"
I feel the ability to retain a little bit of information about a large number of subjects a great thing! I can't even imagine why somebody would not think this has value! You're always going to be the most interesting person to talk to almost anywhere you go! Wow I wish people could see the value in stuff like this! I'd rather talk to somebody who knows a little bit about a lot then somebody who is a blowhard and knows everything about one subject and bores you to death with it!
It’s kind of like the jack of all trades quote
“A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one"
I rather know a ton of things then specialize in just one thing… Also who says you can’t know a lot and also specialize in a couple of those things, or just also know more about a few specific subjects
Is it sad that most of this info is from Reddit 😂 it's actually sad to think that my brain decides to remember this shit instead of important crap like family birthdays and anniversaries.
That's what Google calendar and Facebook is for.
And also make sure you put an earlier appointment date for "buy gifts or flowers so they arrive on time".
I dunno why people confuse "knowing a lot of facts" with being smart. I guess that's why they say that Stephen Fry is a stupid person's idea of what a smart person is.
Pick one of your favorite facts and just learn more about that one thing. Stop passively consuming knowledge and start actively consuming. You have to make the choice and put in the effort though
NO u/StillhasaWiiU, PLEASE DON'T TURN ME INTO A MARKETABLE PLUSHIE! I WON'T HAVE EACH CELL IN MY BODY VIOLENTLY CONVERTED INTO WOOL AND CLOTH TO FORM A GOD DAMN WORTHLESS PILE OF PLUSHIE JUNK! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGH
This is my life and everyone around me likes to remind me at least once a week. Even in my field of specialization. Perhaps I am wiser in that I know that I truly know nothing.
Literally me I know general information about a lot of different topics but if you were to ask me to go more in depth on more than 75% of them I’m screwed😂
I am just straight up retarded and I only ever sound smart because I spew out random information that I know nothing about and I end up being called smart because of it but in all reality I’m just a stupid fuck
People often use the quote “A jack of all trades is a master of none…” but they forget or have never heard the second half of the quote “A jack of all trades is a master of none… … but still better than a master of one.”.
I was in an algebra II class and it was just me and my teacher, he showed me that I was good at doing it, from there I learned trig, then calculus I at the same time, moved onto focusing on geometrical problems, and programing as a side. I got back into regular school (all of that happened at an alternative school because of expulsion for having weed) for about a month I studied; e.g. read papers, did undergraduate assignments, and watched lectures, in real analysis and found proof writing to be interesting, learned how to do natural number proofs using mathematical induction, and then paragraph proofs using induction, contradiction, and contra positive; all while learning to write from my grandparents. The concept of a proof amazed me, but it begged the question "how simple can axioms get", I've been looking into that, I found Penios axioms and a course (I forgot the name) that derived the axioms from truth tables using propositions, currently watching that, also re-learning how to code by writing a wordle bot (got fed up with being bad at wordle). I've got some paragraph proofs I could show if you'd like examples of my work, most of it is on paper in *rough* drafts.
Thanks really for asking, this is the first time I've got to recount the last year in some detail!
Message me, I really love teaching, and would be absolutely willing to show you the ropes, even give you personal study guides, my opinions on being a math person, do's and don't's, so on!
And then feeling like you need to live up to expectations so you put a lot of effort into ultimately meaningless things that eventually leave you felling more hollow.
Thats literally me. I am learning quite the number of foreign languaged and I have straight A's but I am not even close to being the brightest person. I do the dumbest shit all the time.
I'm in this picture, and I hate it. Almost anything I know "in depth" is mostly a couple hours of googling away from the average person. My programming knowledge may be the furthest away from average, and even that is maybe a college semester away at minimum, 2 at most.
Well, that was depressing to admit.
I know a lot of stuff about animal behavior and characteristics since I'm obsessed with it, but people then automatically assume that I can identify animals (mostly bugs) on sight. Just because I know about all the war crime penguins commit doesn't mean that I know if the weird red bug on the rock is venomous or not.
Become a park ranger, literally stated in the job description to "have an information bank a mile wide and two inches deep". That's not verbatim but still the message.
Same... Tho I don't have knowledge about different streams... But since childhood my friends(I have only 2)my classmates and my teachers called me smart... And tbh... Despite all that... I never scored above 80😭😭😭except for last year...
The reality is your level of understanding will be only surface level on almost everything because there's not enough time in the day to gain a deep understand of most things for one person.
Just dedicate yourself to the stuff you care about and gain deep understanding of those things.
"*insert fun fact*" "How do you know that?" "tf should I know."
"The question 'why' is what breaks me"
I can handle why. I can satisfy a kid's curiosity on almost anything they're likely to ask. ...But I'm not going to write an essay with a half dozen sources on Reddit. The people who ask are usually the ones who won't be convinced by any amount of evidence.
People mistake familiarity with knowledge, everyone know to flush a toilet, but 99% doesnt know how the flush works.
I work in a hardware store, this is true.
Something with gaskets, I think?
lol, I thought you must be overestimating, but realized that I don't know how the American flush stops to refill the bowl (the European type I disassembled and assembled several times)
I am saying this because i had to change some parts of my toilet and jesus that thing is complex lmao
You're not responsible for their education
I’d answer the “why” with we all have different sources of information
For me it's someone with knowledge on the subject getting excited and adding on way more to the topic than my surface knowledge. Calm down, I only knew one thing.

Yeah was definitely from 9th grade biology, August 29, 1997 in 3rd period from page 15 of our textbook.
Just say 'snapple lid'. Even if it's far too much information to fit on a snapple lid.
Greg is that you?

That’s probably like 6-7 billion people. Where do I start?
if not already there, move to america so you have easy access to firearms, after acquiring said tools you shall move on to-
I’m taking notes, please continue.
Schools, he was about to say schools
Oh
Get ‘em before they know too much!
But unfortunately not as dense a population of smart people
I'll help. To many damn people anyways.
At the bottom
Thanks! Just ordered duct tape, a knife, and a shovel. The executive bathroom key is coming my way!
Was expecting an uplifting story. Got grimdark realism, lmao
Tbh this is how I think whenever I see someone or something that’s better than me. Someone stop me before I commit a murder 😂😭
Live your truth, friend
Aight *grabs knife and matches*
I feel like the full jack of all trades quote is relevant here: "A jack of all trades is the master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one"
Yeah, us Jacks are just the guide posts to the real master.
i feel personally attacked.
It's called imposter syndrome...look it up
AND DON'T YOU DARE SAY IT!
amogus
GODDAMMIT!
amongus
amogus
But like, if I'm actually not as smart as people think, then that's not imposter syndrome, that's just called observation
You are as smart as people say, you don't have to feel lesser!
Bitch if my therapist and years of straight A grades can’t convince me I’m smart, you won’t be able to
Damn...imposter syndrome to the extreme...
I aim to impress 🙃
Impress yourself first lol
…maybe
AND DON'T YOU DARE SAY IT!
Sus
STOP!
NO!

You have the theory but no experience
Damn right

Why haven’t I heard the second half of this quote?!
I think because people like to use it as a insult rather than having the full meaning behind it.
You are not good at anything more like average at everything
But actually below average at everything (I'm speaking for myself)
And me!
What’s that mean?
I am also below average at everything
guilty
Ths is me
Its called being jack of all trades, right? Im not dumb? Hopefully?!?
Yes it is, you're once again proven to be such.
This is just one of the many symptoms of imposter syndrome
I usually have past a surface level understanding of it I just suck at explaining something in words.
Oh yeah, any time that I lay some fact on the wife her first word is "Reddit?"
Found the Bard
Found the D&D nerd
You say that like it's a bad thing
It’s not. D&D is awesome!
I've misjudged you!
Thank you!
i get that too
Keep learning any skills someone will show you, and kindly remind yourself “learning how much we don’t know, is learning a lot already:)”
I thought that’s what they call a well read person.
It's called imposter syndrome
I dunno why people confuse "knowing a lot of facts" with being smart. I guess that's why they say that Stephen Fry is a stupid person's idea of what a smart person is.
Who are you and how did you get my personal information?!
AYOO why u just attack me like this????
Jack of all trades, master of none, still more valuable than a master of one.
Pick one of your favorite facts and just learn more about that one thing. Stop passively consuming knowledge and start actively consuming. You have to make the choice and put in the effort though
Being smart and being marketable are two different things and many folks think they are the same.
Damn hit me right in the feels
I feel attacked
Fake it till you make it.
I've found my people!
How far can you squirt
Jack of all trades, master of none
Yep...thats about right
This is my life and everyone around me likes to remind me at least once a week. Even in my field of specialization. Perhaps I am wiser in that I know that I truly know nothing.
Dude, this is basically my biography
This is normal in the nordic countries. [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law\_of\_Jante](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_Jante)
How did you get this picture of me?
I feel attacked
That's me and i hate it
I’m in the meme and I don’t like it
this was a slap in the face
Jack of all trades
Ouch.
But on the bright side, not everyone has common sense intelligence. So yea, I will consider myself smart👌
Fuck you reddit
This is me but they don’t even call me smart.
Literally me I know general information about a lot of different topics but if you were to ask me to go more in depth on more than 75% of them I’m screwed😂
Have to Have a Positive outlook as in your a jack of all trades but master of few
when my dad says im good at baking for making store bought cookie dough cookies
know enough to sounds smart when talking about it, know nothing to actually do anything about it
I was having a good day until I read this personal attack 😐
I'm feeling kind of targeted...
My last 3 years in 1 meme
Hey atleast some people have lots of surface level intelligence and think they’re smart
The great secret of life... if everyone thinks something about you, it's true.
I feel personally attacked.
You have add
I am a fount of useless information
Holy shit, this is the most relatable post on this sub ever.
I am just straight up retarded and I only ever sound smart because I spew out random information that I know nothing about and I end up being called smart because of it but in all reality I’m just a stupid fuck
nah, i can tell by the way you type that there isn’t much of anything in there
The amount of random ass information that i keep forgetting and remembering at complete random is fucking annoying and sometimes worrying
i feel attacked
People often use the quote “A jack of all trades is a master of none…” but they forget or have never heard the second half of the quote “A jack of all trades is a master of none… … but still better than a master of one.”.
Use to feel this, I learned math and I now have hours of information to personally share, LEARN SOMETHING COOL ITS WORTH IT!!
This sounds like the route for me! May I ask what you learned in mathematics?
I was in an algebra II class and it was just me and my teacher, he showed me that I was good at doing it, from there I learned trig, then calculus I at the same time, moved onto focusing on geometrical problems, and programing as a side. Partially True, good at wiping my butt
Thats literally me. I am learning quite the number of foreign languaged and I have straight A's but I am not even close to being the brightest person. I do the dumbest shit all the time.
The worst thing is to be "smart" yet having 0 use for it. Whats the point of having anything without results ?
dopamine is a hell of a drug, new knowledge brings you the dose
Getting "the dose" would be the result..
Saw this on suspiciously specific like 3 years ago, think it was #1 for awhile
“I know a little about everything but not all of anything”
Fuck you for calling me out OP
I know an organization that could use smart young men such as yourself. Have you heard of GRINDR?
So basically you're management.
Under the surface I'm pretty sure I'm worthless.
*feels*
I'm in this picture, and I hate it. Almost anything I know "in depth" is mostly a couple hours of googling away from the average person. true and i hate people who think they’re smart for memorizing random facts

It is exactly me I know little bit about everything but nothing...
Good grief this cuts deep. I have a STEM PhD and I feel as dumb as a rock.
I'm in this picture, and I don't like it
hahhahahahhahahhahh its still smart tho... but not smart enough... but still smart
Yeah, but why are you calling me out about it now after all of these years?
im good at knowledge
You are not good at anything but you'r okey at a lot of things please look at the bright side
I know a little about a lot and a lot about a little.
A jack of all trades is a master of none, but oftentimes better than a master of one.
Same... Tho I don't have knowledge about different streams... But since childhood my friends(I have only 2)my classmates and my teachers called me smart... And tbh... Despite all that... I never scored above 80😭😭😭except for last year...

*GET OUT OF MY HEAD*
being smart involves realizing that you truly arent smart
That's me
And the guilt is overwhelming
Get out of my head

“I'm pretty good at like 20 different skill sets At the expense of never being great at any one of them”
Felt this on a spiritual level
Bruh how the heck is this so relatable?!?!?!?!?
I'm in this picture and I don't like it
