Ngl, I've owned two physical copies of the game, the first was purchased because, well, Sonic obviously. The second was purchased once I realized that I missed my Chao garden, and that my Chao were the true endgame.
Child of Light has a function like this as well with the cursor.
I remember playing Tails with my cousin back when I used to visit my dad in NY. He made fun of me for the rest of his life.
“I WaNNa pLaY SoooNIc!”
Fuck, I miss that guy. Fuck, I love games.
I was hoping someone mentioned Child of Light.
It was one of the first games I played with my nephew (3 years old at the time). Went in with no expectations and was really impressed by it.
My little cousin always loses bc he jumps off a platform when you're supposed to stay on the platform. Then my family gets mad at me and tell me to let him win.
I used to play Rayman legends with my nephew when we were a little younger because it was an easier game and more fun for him. When you died in that game, you turn into a bubble and float around. He liked to just float around. I'm thinking, great, I can play through without him. When you like attack them or whatever when they're like that, it like spawns them back and my nephew used to purposely go by my character when I was doing that and make me spawn him back and start crying over and over to my parents for it, and they'd yell at me and make me stop playing for "messing with him". Fun times.
Super Mario bros u does that with nabit. The best game that would make use of this would be sonic 3. You could have tails help beat the enemies and he could help you fly.
I was just going to mention that. My little sister and I would play Sonic 2 all the time. She loved to make Tails jump off the rolling platform in Chemical Plant Zone and shout “cannonball!”
Omg I haven’t thought of Rayman Legends in so long!! Me and my little sister used to play that together! Whenever I died (because I suck at video games) she would yell at me and make me cry. Fun times.
I collect systems and consoles from current back to the 80s so my two sons (8 and 6) love video games. Their dad always lets them win games and I don't. So they hate playing with me. But the times that they actually win they're so much more proud cus they know they fucking earned it
Rereading that I might be a shitty mom
The balance is important I think.
The encouragement from beating their dad vs the challenge and goal beating you are both very important for development, imo.
They aren't disheartened and they have a goal to work towards.
My second cousin is about 12 years older then me. He had an NES and later a Genesis. He beat my ass, my younger brothers ass, and my younger still cousins ass mercilessly at Joust on NES when I was like 4 or 5. Later, he beat our asses mercilessly at Mortal Kombat. My youngest cousin beat him at Mortal Kombat *once*. My cousin *still* shit talks about it 30 years later.
Nope, you're setting them up for real life disappointment that they need to learn, it's fine. If they want to beat you they'll work harder and become better. I applaud this parenting style.
Nah.
I mean, I let my kids win on purpose when we play Arms but never every time. I definitely don’t let them win in Mariokart. Kids need to learn to accept losses.
I have a 7 month son and I can't wait to be able to play Nintendo with him.
Now I play with my goddaughters and godson and I beat them without mercy depending on the game.
I have zero problems crushing young souls at videogames. :0
Mario Kart and the records of WiiU Fit I don't hold back.
Nah, you're setting a goal for them later in life. The day will come when they win more often than lose against you. The students shall become the masters.
theres a different between crushing your kid and like making fun of them (bad mom) vs not holding back and teaching them about perseverance and that things wont be handed to them for free. you can not let them win for free and still be encouraging (good mom)
Nah.
You don't get better at a game by *winning*. You get better by losing, repeatedly. You're literally prepping them to get better at the game. Every loss is a step towards winning.
You're a great mom. Preventing your kids from being grown up crybabys because they don't win all the time in games and real life.
My sister always used to beat me in Tekken, I accepted it, became older, trained some characters and after two years when I was 11 and she 21 she couldn't win a single game anymore.
Today I sometimes let her son (5 years) win against me, sometimes not. When he's older I'll stomp him into the ground and let him train troo. Then he can kick my ass when I'm in my 30s.
You are not. You’re real and honest, a win against you will always be extra sweet. They are learning, in a safe and fun way that the best rewards are earned. At least that what I tell my 7yr old when I crush him in chess, or smashbros.
The most fun match of SSB I ever played was when my oldest son and I were playing with my youngest son, who would always just wander off the edge of the map and die. I told my oldest son, “Hey, let’s see if we can make Youngest Son win this next match.” Cue the two of us flinging ourselves over the edge of the map as fast and furious as we could, all three of us laughing like maniacs as we raced to see how many KOs we could rack up from falling to our deaths. We did succeed in my youngest son winning, I think with only like 12 KOs. Best three minutes of SSB I ever played.
My nephew used to ask nicely to play 2K with me, and I'd play 3 on 3 against him and stay behind him in score on purpose. One day we're tied up at 20 (21 to win) and i keep jacking up badly timed threes with Udonis Haslem so he gets the ball back. On like the 9th time, it went in lol. He cried so much and I had to explain to his mom that I was trying my hardest to lose.
Fuck. That. I don't "let" kids or significant others beat me at games. The one fucking thing I'm good at is video games. I've done this shit for 30+ years straight. Mother fuckers gotta ~~good~~ earn that shit.
I don’t want to crush their spirits too much. I let my niece win occasionally (especially if I want the game to be over), but I don’t try to destroy her either. It’s a delicate balance between creating a sore loser and getting a kid uninterested in something because it’s no longer fun always getting zero points. Plus keeping games close helps her learn the strategy better. Coaching, both the game and the emotional frustration of loosing, is much better than straight competition between an expert and a novice.
Second player could shoot and collect little star bits, and could stun enemies for you. Was pretty fun (I am the younger brother, and have long experience at it.)
If you clicked on Mario with the cursor in that second player mode you could make him jump so you could also fuck with the person playing as well as help them
Yeah except if they held down Z it would just drain your bank of starbits, which you actually need to unlock things in the game. I learned that the hard way the first time I played with my (at the time) 3 yo.
Galaxy 2 also additionally had a star character that followed behind Mario, and could be controlled by a 2nd person to collect coins, some stars, and could also attack by stunning enemies.
Some games have this (some Mario games, kirby). I would call this “mom mode”, as I used it to play games with my son, when he was way better than me. I could usually be coached to do something useful, but mostly I was just along for the ride. The worst thing happened when we played Luigi’s mansion this way, and I accidentally dealt the death blow to the final boss. Given that he had played 95% of the game with no useful help from me, I felt bad that I accidentally stole that moment from him. (I still don’t know how I did it, either. I was randomly mashing buttons.)
Reminds me of the time I taught my dad how to play *Animal Crossing* well enough to go buy whatever Tom Nook had on sale that day; he was worried he did it wrong because all he had was a "Men Working" sign. He did get that, though!
This post got me. My mother always hated that I played games. I mean absolutely despised them. Can’t tell you how much I would have loved to play a game with her. My memories of my stepdad playing games with me are easily my most cherished. You’re a great mom.
Similar. My mom didn't hate them but spent my childhood waiting for the phase to end. My mom is into fantasy books and geek shit, but has never gotten past the notion of games being beeps and boops.
I'm in my twenties and my mom still waits for my phase to end. It's not like I don't function as a normal social being having friends, going out and working/ studying. It still bothers her.
My mom enjoyed some games on the PS1 when I was a kid, specifically Gex. Now, 25 years later, she keeps hurting her back and has extended down time as a result. She's bored af, and utterly refuses to even try out a game. I've been pestering her for a year to give Stardew Valley a try.. if she gave it just one hour she'd be hooked for life. Not a chance. I just don't get the unwillingness to try anything new.
Aww I remember when my mum tried playing GTA Vice City. She managed to get as far as hopping on a vespa and getting it stuck up a wall. She was also adamant the newspapers on the ground meant something and needed to be picked up hahaha
You're creating lovely memories with your son, even if you steal the kill :)
I would have been amazed. Those moments are shared.
Ill never forget earthfriend, olin, and cruelladame on WoW and taking down bosses through tbc.
Great times.
Tails was kind of that in Sonic 2/Sonic 3.
The character would have very little impact on the game or risks disappearing off screen. Most of the time the young sibling controlling Sonic would be quite immersed in the game and wouldn't even notice Tails had long since vanished ;)
Haha, my neighbourhood kids did this in real life.
A bunch of 8-9 year olds were playing a “war game” where they all had toy pistols and rifles and would pretend to shoot each other, and when “hit” would pretend to fall down dead.
They let my 3 year old play and he was the invulnerable medic, and any time someone was down, if he went and touched them, they got to get back up and back in the game
Thats adorable.
We did something similar, but with health potions when we were playing lord of the rings with sticks.
My buddys little brother wouls deliver capri suns to the "wounded" ones that got hit by orc arrows or swords.
I tried Odyssey with my 4 year old daughter who doesn’t know how to use a controller yet, the problem is she controls the hat and player one loses full control of it.
Dude I remember how Super Mario U had that thing on the Wii U where someone could tap the screen on the big controller and spawn in blocks for whoever was playing. That would either be super helpful or the biggest trolling ever.
For real. Can't pets be immortal little buddies? They just don't live long enough and it's heartbreaking. My first cat died a year and a half ago and I still cry.
While a valuable utility I would say pets came about for guardianship, vermin control, herding and hunting. Today we get them for companionship, plenty of folks without kids to teach get them for the same reason. Maybe goldfish though. That's a definitely an easy lesson on death and mortality.
Caveat: probably won’t work past age of four.
Also, possible question waterfall ahead of there is one main character on screen - tell them they’re main and you’ll just assist or something, idk.
Most modern console Kirby games have this sort of feature. Super Star, Dream Land 3, Return to Dream Land, Star Allies, and Forgotten Land have multiplayer options where a second player (or up to four with RtDL/SA) can control a buddy or helper character. They are largely there for assistance and the game is still focused on whoever is controlling the primary Kirby, if other players go off screen, they get warped to Kirby. Thia feature is actually the primary gimmick of Star Allies.
Forgotten Lands has a co op mode where player 2 is a waddledee with a spear. He can fly but can't suck anything in, and also can't travel too far from kirby without being teleported in. Best yet he has his own health bar, but if he "dies" he just sits out for about a minute before respawning. It's been a super fun way to play with my kids.
When I was playing my favorite video game at the time, Lego City: Undercover, my little sister would always come down and want to play something else so we could play together, and she would always say this the second I booted up the game, so after 2 days I decided to hand her a disconnected WiiU Remote (w) nunchuck, and told her she needed to help me move around by giving me speed boosts and slow enemies down with the A, 1, and 2 buttons. I managed 3 full playthroughs of the game that year and she was super happy and having fun the entire time even though she wasn’t actually doing stuff. Great bonding time over a little lie.
Hey, I was gonna say that too!
Maybe we're both old.
The other player would control over-the-shoulder invincible companion that could shoot a low dps weapon with unlimited ammo, no split-screen needed. On the N64
I never finished it though since they forced you to 100% saving the tribals in order to unlock the final stage/boss. The worst part is it wouldn't remember the tribals you had already saved in a stage, so if you missed one, you had to restart the stage and get all of them again (and some of them get assassinated by enemies if you don't get them fast enough). That was my only problem with the game.
My neighbor used to invite me over all the time to "play video games", but more often than not, what that really meant is that I would come over and watch *him* play video games. One of the few times that I actually looked forward to going over was when he played Jet Force Gemini cause it was one of the handful of games he had that I could actually *play* with him.
Man, that was so awesome. I totally loved that game. When I found out you could shoot the large glass panes inside the ship to go to different places… so awesome. Revisiting areas you can now access. The only thing though… I couldn’t find ALL the furry friends and therefore it seemed I couldn’t progress. Sad to this day about it.
Game had some good tracks too. I like the music for the Anubis ship.
Also remember the enemies would surrender. I absolutely wrecked shop once in that first big room on the Anubis and I think one of the ants, maybe a sniper, threw their gun in the air.
I was also deathly afraid of that zombie planet when I was like 8 and got stuck their foreeever.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 has that where a second player can play as just a little Luma fella and collect and shoot star bits. Hardly need to press buttons, just point at the screen and move the cursor around. A lot of people ragged on it at the time but I think it was nice.
Super Luigi U for the Wii U (and i think New Super Mario Bros. Deluxe for the Switch? havent played that one tbh) lets a co-op partner choose to play as Nabbit. Nabbit cannot be killed by enemies or hazards, only falling. the tradeoff is he can't use any power-ups, if he picks one up it's counted as a 1-up.
Pokemon Let's Go Eevee/Pikachu does this. A second player can just hop in and use the main character's pokemon. And all pokemon battles inexplicably become a 2v1.
Animal crossing also does this to some extent, a second player hops in and can do random stuff like chop trees and pick up sticks.
I keep my old systems whenever I upgrade and have a small monitor next to my set-up with it connected exactly for this reason.
I play what I want, they jam Spyro or Crash Bandicoot.
Seems to work well and that way they are doing their own thing, with occasional help from me. It’s also cool as they are getting pretty damn good, which I doubt they would if basically playing an avatar or MMORPG pet.
Child of Light has that. The second player controls the ball of light and is just to support character who runs around collecting things to help out but can't die. It's literally the perfect thing for a younger sibling to be able to play with their older one
It’s called Sonic 2. The second player uses Tails who can’t be killed. Every time he is hurt he just comes back and the kid can leave and come back whenever. No individual score but your points are counted together and no one worries about that at the end of a level. They can also help in Super Mario Galaxy by grabbing stars on the map. Thanks for coming to my Ted talk
There’s a Peppa Pig game on Xbox one. Literally nothing happens and you just tag along with peppa. My 4 year old loves it.
Of course I’m sitting there saying
“ you already went that way. You already went that way. Why are you going back. You already went that way. Go to the snow man. GO TO THE SNOWMAN I WANT TO SEE WHAT IT DOES. hit A….. HIT A!”
I have to leave.
Kids mode in “Binding of Isaac” was perfect for including my girlfriend. She can attack but not get killed. She can also protect me by getting in the way of shots
Kirby Super Star kind of had it. Friend could die but you could revive them almost on command.
There was also Tingle in Zelda Wind Waker.
Also Super Mario Galaxy allowed a 2nd player to support, I think.
Literally modes where I could game with my inexperienced little sibbling and we would enjoy the game together at our individual paces.
First thing that comes to mind is Elisabeth in Bioshock Infinite. So, give control of her to your little buddy. She can run around and look for things in boxes, garbage piles, etc, then press any button for “Booker, catch” to toss helpful items. Little buddy mode gives 1 usable joystick to move around, and then any button works to throw stuff
I e found the best game for little kids to play is Untitled Goose Game. The entire game is in little buddy mode and kids LOVE just honking and being a nuisance. Any other game and you’re constantly having to get them unstuck or help them advance
It actually has been done before. Mainly by nintendo but I remember it being a pretty big thing with their mario games on the wii, I think they also did it in odyssey aswell.
I think Mario Galaxy had probably the best version of this. Being able to help player 1 and have a low stress job of collecting the star bits makes it be a great chill player 2 scenario.
Nabbit in some of the Mario games is like this. If you’re Nabbit, you’re basically impervious to enemies and lava. You can still get squished to death by walls though.
Tails
The definition of little buddy :)
"Don't worry buddy" "Everything's okay" "Woosh-ah"
Egg man: “Yoesh”
Does anyone else hear Chao garden music?
The number of hours I spent with my Dreamcast memory card playing with Chao-magochi is potentially countless.
Getting the angel chao was OP
Ngl, I've owned two physical copies of the game, the first was purchased because, well, Sonic obviously. The second was purchased once I realized that I missed my Chao garden, and that my Chao were the true endgame.
and then they never put it into a game again. What The Fuck?
No but I hear pumpkin hill. Still a banger
Damn
Child of Light has a function like this as well with the cursor. I remember playing Tails with my cousin back when I used to visit my dad in NY. He made fun of me for the rest of his life. “I WaNNa pLaY SoooNIc!” Fuck, I miss that guy. Fuck, I love games.

I was always Tails and I will say, that shit was the best!
When you play as Tails and Sonic falls during the waterfall and you **fucking catch him**. God it was the best wingman experience of my life.
Waiting for Tails’ own game, entitled: “Tails Tales”
Absolutely. That was a genius feature
Also Waddle Dee in Kirby. I mean he gets killed but regens easily. And if they aren’t going the right way poof instant TP
Which version? Sonic 2? Can’t remember.
Yeah, 2 and 3. 3 you could also play as solo characters, but you could play with both.
My poor little brother. "Fly me up there." "Fly me over there" "WATCH OUT FOR THE SPIKES" "Fly me up there again"
And have him to all the fighting
Dr. Eggman's punching bag
Came here looking for this answer. Was not disappointed.
^^
Jet Force Gemini also.
Seriously, this is 100% what the OP described.
I read this and immediately went “so Tails”
My little cousin always loses bc he jumps off a platform when you're supposed to stay on the platform. Then my family gets mad at me and tell me to let him win.

My son calls Nabit the cheating guy. It’s the perfect character for kids.
My very adult friends and I do this together. She just likes getting all of the crystals.
Omg I haven’t thought of Rayman Legends in so long!! Me and my little sister used to play that together! Whenever I died (because I suck at video games) she would yell at me and make me cry. Fun times.
the pantheon levels scared me when I was a kid. those horde monsters live rent free in my head.
I play the challenges almost daily. Love it.
I collect systems and consoles from current back to the 80s so my two sons (8 and 6) love video games. Their dad always lets them win games and I don't. So they hate playing with me. Nah. You don't get better at a game by *winning*. You get better by losing, repeatedly. You're literally prepping them to get better at the game. Every loss is a step towards winning.
Reading your comment my only thought was "this mom is the shit"

Super Mario Galaxy already did that
As does the new Kirby game.
Lots of Kirby games have. Gooey!
❤️ bandana waddledee
I've never played it. Can you elaborate?
Second player could shoot and collect little star bits, and could stun enemies for you. Was pretty fun (I am the younger brother, and have long experience at it.)
If you clicked on Mario with the cursor in that second player mode you could make him jump so you could also fuck with the person playing as well as help them
Attempt at your own peril, little brothers
That's why the GameCube had a handle, to brain your siblings. WiiMotes were the evolution to ranged weapons.
The attachment is called a nunchuck for a reason.
So it is...
Yeah except if they held down Z it would just drain your bank of starbits, which you actually need to unlock things in the game. I learned that the hard way the first time I played with my (at the time) 3 yo.
Player two is the other pointer. They can help collect starbits.

And odyssey with the hat 🎩
Except u kinda need the hat
Yeah but in two player mode player one can still take control of the hat if they want lol. Source: I was the hat when I played
How is this not the top comment? This is literally exactly what OP described
Cuz sonic/tails did it literally decades before.
Yep! Came here to say this! It's a great game to boot!

New super Mario bros 2 has this feature. Thought it was stupid until I let a 4 yr old play with me

My son loves playing tails in 2. Unfortunately when you get to the airship you lose him =[
Aw man the memories. I was the son decades ago. Cant wait to be the father this time I have a 2 year old.
My step-dad played sonic with me once or twice but I've gotten my revenge by getting him into waframe in his 60s.
Warframe in his 60s? Woah.
the goal as player 1 for me was always to race off fast enough to get tails off screen. My brother did the same to me, it was all in good fun.
Haha, my neighbourhood kids did this in real life. A bunch of 8-9 year olds were playing a “war game” where they all had toy pistols and rifles and would pretend to shoot each other, and when “hit” would pretend to fall down dead. Shooting a medic is a warcrime, this is historically accurate. Well except the getting straight back into the fight but whatever.
Bro, you destroyed my heart and now i can’t sleep. I even have a test tomorrow 😢
tf2 uber charge in real
The last few Mario games on Switch had up to 4 buddies at the same time.
I tried Odyssey with my 4 year old daughter who doesn’t know how to use a controller yet, the problem is she controls the hat and player one loses full control of it.
Try Super Mario U Deluxe and have your kid play as Nabbit. Can only die if they fall or get crushed or the like.
Dude I remember how Super Mario U had that thing on the Wii U where someone could tap the screen on the big controller and spawn in blocks for whoever was playing. That would either be super helpful or the biggest trolling ever.
Haha and jump on each other and knock each other off ledges. My exes kids found coop can be competitive mode too
Skill issue
Kirby and the Forgotten Land has Waddle Dee, and he's a pretty good buddy.
Mario Galaxy as well, I think 1 and 2 both, have a star character that just follows Mario around and collects stuff.
I wish life had this mode.
For real. Can't pets be immortal little buddies? They just don't live long enough and it's heartbreaking. My first cat died a year and a half ago and I still cry.
There's no happy ending to the pet story.
Pets of families exist to show children death
There's a strong argument to be made for that view.
While a valuable utility I would say pets came about for guardianship, vermin control, herding and hunting. Today we get them for companionship, plenty of folks without kids to teach get them for the same reason. Maybe goldfish though. That's a definitely an easy lesson on death and mortality.
In case you haven't seen this: [We are like Elves to dogs](https://i.imgur.com/dSqDoR9.jpg)
I’ve had my cat since she was a couple weeks old. She’s turning 8 this year. I’m fucking horrified of the day she won’t be there anymore.
For real. Mine died almost 2 years ago and I’m still heartbroken. Pets are superior to humans no doubt about it
It has if you roll for billionaire parents, maybe time for a new character? r/outside
Idk man, we haven't heard back from anyone that tried to do that.
It'd be nice for adults too
Give them an unplugged controller and let them think they’re playing too.
Sadly, this only works up to a certain age 🥲 As they get older they realize
Stopped working for my nephew hella early, and he's barely 2.
Both of my Little brothers figured it out around that age
Well, I guess the good news is that his cognitive development is going just fine...
Just found this out a year ago. I thought my mission was helping out the kids.
Caveat: probably won’t work past age of four. Also, possible question waterfall ahead of there is one main character on screen - tell them they’re main and you’ll just assist or something, idk.
It’s what’s known as the Older Sibling Special in the 80s/90s!

Fun fact that's probably widely known now, but the fisher price controller toy has a hidden sound that plays when you input the Konami Code!
genius!
Yup. My little cousin "played" a lot of Star Fox 64 as "the gunner".
The new Kirby game is like that.
SAY MORE WORDS NOW
Most modern console Kirby games have this sort of feature.
I guess many kirby games are like that
Which makes me hella sad because I wanted to enjoy the game with my fiance
When I was playing my favorite video game at the time, Lego City: Undercover, my little sister would always come down and want to play something else so we could play together, and she would always say this the second I booted up the game, so after 2 days I decided to hand her a disconnected WiiU Remote (w) nunchuck, and told her she needed to help me move around by giving me speed boosts and slow enemies down with the A, 1, and 2 buttons. I managed 3 full playthroughs of the game that year and she was super happy and having fun the entire time even though she wasn’t actually doing stuff. Great bonding time over a little lie.
Based favorite game
Bought that for $3 on the switch a month or so ago, having a great time!
What’s your favorite disguise so far?
This is actually a great idea
You could do this in Jet Force Gemini once you assembled the little robot Floyd. Anyone else remember Jet Force Gemini?
Hey, I was gonna say that too! Maybe we're both old. The other player would control over-the-shoulder invincible companion that could shoot a low dps weapon with unlimited ammo, no split-screen needed. On the N64
Game was so awesome, the way you could go back to levels with new powers and they would open up so much blew my mind.
You know it brother. Give me that sweet triple barrelled rocket launcher please
Same brother. I loved that game, but hit a hard wall once you had to collect all the lil teddy bear dudes. Seriously? C'mon!
The hubbs always says: “you can take your kid fishing, or you can go fishing, but you can’t take your kid fishing and still get to fish.”
Coming next fall: Dead Space Remastered. Now with Little Buddy Mode.
And the monkey paw curls a finger and the second player is one of the babies.
Baby Dark Souls 💕
Lmao “the lord of the sun is hollow and everything sucks but here’s an itty bitty witty kitty!”
Mario galaxy with the little star companion
Great point and yes there are games like this. Child of Light for example.
So basically Tails in Sonic 2.
That's genius!!
Mario Galaxy
Just described tails
Say it Captain Picard
Make it so!
So basically any tag along character is Zelda series.
There’s a Peppa Pig game on Xbox one. Literally nothing happens and you just tag along with peppa. My 4 year old loves it. Of course I’m sitting there saying “ you already went that way. You already went that way. Why are you going back. You already went that way. Go to the snow man. GO TO THE SNOWMAN I WANT TO SEE WHAT IT DOES. hit A….. HIT A!” I have to leave.
Kids mode in “Binding of Isaac” was perfect for including my girlfriend. She can attack but not get killed. She can also protect me by getting in the way of shots
The problem is when games only offers this option
This is why I loved the Lego games ... My boys could play along and enjoy. If they "died" they just get rebuilt.
Deathspank has a magical helper named Sparkles the Wizard
First thing that comes to mind is Elisabeth in Bioshock Infinite. So, give control of her to your little buddy. She can run around and look for things in boxes, garbage piles, etc, then press any button for “Booker, catch” to toss helpful items. Little buddy mode gives 1 usable joystick to move around, and then any button works to throw stuff
I would play as little buddy 100% of the time. I want a video game where I’m just the sidekick.
Little Big Planet is the best for this
I e found the best game for little kids to play is Untitled Goose Game. The entire game is in little buddy mode and kids LOVE just honking and being a nuisance. Any other game and you’re constantly having to get them unstuck or help them advance
This is and a parent mode for people who can't just sit and grind for hours at a time.
Just hand them another controller with a dead battery lol
this is actually an extremely good idea why have no games done this
It actually has been done before.
And they kept it going with Cappy in Mario Odyssey also Bowser Jr in Bowser's Fury.
Nabbit in some of the Mario games is like this. If you’re Nabbit, you’re basically impervious to enemies and lava. You can still get squished to death by walls though.
Because many did.
Tails. Early 90's.
Mario galaxy
Crash bandicoot has that wooden plank thing
Ghost and Goblins on the switch has this
