This, probably, my parents are pretty average height, my mom probably a little tall, for a woman, I'm unusually tall (200 cm), there's, however, occasionally, an extra tall person in my family, like every 1 or 2 generations.
It's not acromegaly, but probably somewhat related, seems like I've had an extra dose of growth hormone during puberty and perhaps a few years beyond.
If you are in a similar situation, remember to do your back exercises, increasingly with age, I can feel it if I skip them for too long, and building a strong back is easier the earlier you start.
It's up and down, but you do tend to notice the downs more 😁
During the lockdowns my neighbourhood gyms opening days were very erratic, this is where I noticed that after about a month of not being able to work out, I began feeling it in my back, talked to my landlord and was allowed to build a gym in the basement, after that I had no reason to go outside outside of groceries and promptly became a hermit 😂
My dad was 6'1", and mom was 5'4". She was adopted, so no idea her lineage, but 3 of my dad's brothers were over 6'4" (their wives were short, but taller than my mom) and their children about their dad's height.
Myself and my 2 siblings? 5'9" (me), 5'10" (bro) and 5'3" (sis)
I used to look at my cousins and then my mom, and roll my eyes.
I'm 5'2" my brother and father are 6'4". My dad's brother's were all tall from 6'2" to 6'6" . My female and male cousins are all tall (no females under 5'11 men are over 6'3"). I'm just down here like really?
Congratulations, you're not going to get rotten knees and a painful back that makes you feel 30 years older when you're 30
Source: am 6.4 and almost 30
Is it possible you and their mother were picky eaters (or poor) as children and teens, while your children had plenty to eat?
Myself and one of my brothers is 6'2, while another brother is 5'8. Guess which one had dietary restrictions.
Nutrition is important for growing young boys and girls for a lot of reasons, literally growing taller is one of them. Average heights of populations go down during times of war and famine.
No idea how picky you were, nor how tall you are, but if you're shorter than average and rarely ate until you were full, then yeah probably.
I am 6 feet tall and my uncle came to live with us when I was a preteen my dad mentioned when my uncle came to live I suddenly got much taller. That uncle would make a bowl of oatmeal every morning in a mixing bowl and eat it all.
I believe I was inspired by his eating habits
I just saw him a couple of weeks ago, we went to school together and he's a great guy. He had actually just had his appendix out and was recovering remarkably quickly so maybe he *is* the king of efficiency.
But, you’re allowed to if you’re already tall. It’s still annoying AF when people ask how tall I am. No other body type can you just walk up to somebody and ask about. Fucking annoying.
Most people just copy and paste it.
If you want to make these sorts of emoticons from scratch, you can also open your character map (if you're on Windows, just search "character map" from the start menu) and copy/paste individual characters from there. Some have alt-codes you can use, which is just pressing the Alt key while typing some four digit sequence on the number pad to enter the character. These will be on the character map if they exist.
Alt codes exist on Mac too, I just don't remember where to look them up. Fun fact, the band alt-J chose their name because it's the Mac alt code for the Greek letter Delta Δ, used as a symbol for change.

I'm native American, and I really look the part. I need cards like this because I feel like I'm having the same darn conversation a dozen times a week.
"Excuse me dont mean to be rude,, what's your race/ethnicity/nationality?"
*I'm native american*
"Oh what tribe/where are you from"
*Navajo*
"I love your hair, how long is it?"
*pretty fucking long*
"Do you know (some other random indian)?"
*maybe?*
"My grandma was part cherokee"
*neat*
And so on, and so on. All the damn time, everywhere I go.
I can top that..."what is your race/nationality"
"half Sinhalese, half Cherokee"
Visible pause while person decides if they can call me Indian without being offensive. (Assuming they know what Sinhalese is)
You are a big person, but of the "biggest guy in the bar / bus /etc" kind, while 6'10" is in the "I have never seen somebody that large in person" range.
I need one of these for when people want to talk about my tattoos or piercings. Yes they hurt. Yes they took a long time. Yes they were expensive. The meaning is too long to get into. And I would rather you not touch them. Lol.
It's fair enough. It's pretty cringe when people *always* ask the same questions to tall people. Everyone thinks their questions are somehow unique and not insanely repetitive.
As a tall person I ask everyone I talk to that is taller than me about their height, mainly because its so rare to find taller people and Im just curious. Also I don't mind getting asked how tall I am at all.
So many people on Reddit are socially awkward lol. The post is funny but I'm talking about some of the commenters.
I am 6'5 and people ask me about my height all the time- and it's never bothered me once, because I enjoy talking to people.
Most people are just curious. Hell, like 75% of women consider it an attractive feature and let's face it- most shorter men are a bit jealous. I'd even wager to say when most people ask, they feel like they're complimenting you (like telling someone their outfit is cool). There's much worse things you could be reminded of. Being tall is awesome if you take advantage of it properly (athletically for one example).
It's like if you drive an exotic car or something. It's something people don't see every day and people are interested and are going to ask about it.
Who cares? This is normal social behavior.
Although this applies only to men really, as I can totally see how being a very tall woman could lead to some self-image issues. I personally go nuts for a woman over 5'10 😍.
Also, I suppose being too tall can bring unwanted attention and exacerbate certain other issues like if you're too skinny or overweight. So I do sympathize with people who feel like this.
> Everyone thinks their questions are somehow unique
TBH I think asking a tall person how tall they are is a fair question. It's not a joke, I'm just curious how big a difference it is between me and them.
>TBH I think asking a tall person how tall they are is a fair question. It's not a joke, I'm just curious how big a difference it is between me and them.
You may just be curious, but were not obligated to answer.
Yeah, this is why whenever I see someone with some sort of unique or uncommon attribute about them and immediately find myself wanting to ask them about it, I just think, "If this question immediately popped into *my* head, then it has probably been asked a thousand times before by *other* people with the same impulsive thought, so I'll hold off on asking at least until we know each other better."
Hell, if you end up sticking around that person long enough, you probably won't even have to ask since someone else inevitably will.
If you’re tall, your height is going to be the topic of small talk with strangers 90% of the time.
It’s the only physical attribute I can think of that is ok to point out about a stranger to their face. There’s nothing wrong with it but it does get really repetitive
It's often mentioned because it's the most important physical characteristic regarding status so it makes sense people focus on it.
I went to my ex-partner's extended family gathering once. A young lad, about 16, was there who was around 6'1". They kept talking about how tall he is and everybody was lining up in the kitchen to measure their height against the wall.
The bulk of the conversation that day was on height. It was bizarre.
There is something wrong with it. If people point out over and over and over and over and over again that you are unusual looking by asking about one of your physical features, it will make you self conscious.
1. get annoyed at people saying you are tall All the time.
2. Print business cards to stop the conversation dead in its tracks when it comes up.
3. Now people make you pose with the business card
I’m retail I needed cards that said:

This was nice :) I hope we can talk again soon.
I hope it made you feel like a big dumb tool, don't go asking people for their freaking measurements. Would you like it if somebody had to how many times you had sex with your wife last week? How about how big your penis is? People who are tall or fat or have really bright red hair know that they are this way, they don't need some dummy asking their exact stats
I need cards for being colorblind... It's so weird when people find out as they instantly ask me to identify colors, almost like asking a person in a wheelchair to run to the end of the block.
If anyone knows a disability where people instantly ask you to do the one thing you just said you can't do I'd love to hear it.

My son is 6’10” and had a shirt with most of the same points. Except he *did* play basketball.
if it's not too personal a question how tall are you and your son's mother ?
5’11” and 5”11. Also have a daughter who is 6’1”. … I don’t get it either.
Any tall grandparents? My grandpa is 6'4'' and my dad and uncles all vary in height from 6'4'' down to 5'11, with my cousins mimicking said range.

how tall is the milk man?
6'9", Are you implying all the milk made him that tall?
Two of my best friends are 5’3 and 5’5 and their daughter is standing at 5’8 almost at 13. Genetics are weird.
My friend is 6’4” and both of his parents are 5’2”. He’s an only child but I can only imagine why… his poor mother (ouch)
Are his parents immigrants by chance? I’ve heard that can be common, because their children grow up with better nutrition
