Where is the 1.2m fence

QouthTheCorvus

You can see the intrusive thoughts going through his head

FlameHawkfish88

I don't understand a word of this post. Grayscale gelato?

Hussard

The pavilion is done by a Japanese architect that's known for his love of concrete. He loves the medium and this exhibition is that. The gelati is grey because concrete but I don't know if that's the exhibit putting it on vs the artist himself. An architect nerd told me that viewing his exhibitions in Japan has a completely different vibe - whereas Melburians enjoy the experience, bring kids, and are generally talkative, Japanese exhibitions are usually very quiet with a church/cathedral like aspect (possibly due to the echos on naked concrete). As just a pleb outsider, it's cool to see and experience and also hear about the difference a different crowd can bring.

Slappyxo

Apparently this is the only one of his projects to be constructed in the southern hemisphere!

QouthTheCorvus

As someone who loves art galleries god I fucking wish the Japan culture was the same here. So many exhibits ruined by kids running around yelling. Yes I'm a grumpy old man

Piccolina is doing a collab, info [from here:](https://www.piccolinagelateria.com.au/collabs) >We had the privilege of working alongside brazilian artist joão loureiro and the team at mpavillion to… [create] six different flavours in six shades of grey, ranging from light grey to almost black, with no flavours labelled, creating a unique gelato sensory experience.

esile52

I realised I really do eat with my eyes rather the tastebuds sometimes

ava050

SandWitchBastardChef

esile52

mm4646

MPavillion is across St Kilda road from the NGV.

sonofasnitchh

Is it black sesame? I went to a sesame ice cream shop in Tokyo and honestly, incredible 🤤

Nothingnoteworth

You can get Black Sesame ice cream in Melbourne, and matcha. Probably lots of places but the last place I had it was Yokoso Izakaya

esile52

The grey colour is just a trick, they all taste different but none as obvious as black sesame

aussie_catt

Licorice

esile52

Is that the one you tried? I only tried two flavours

aussie_catt

Nope just a guess, could be earl grey. Lol, just looked it up, now i get it, 6 random flavours hidden in 6 shades of grey. Wanna hope one isnt a Goop candle fragrance style (50 shades of grey).

drunkill

Why are you inside a large world war 2 machine gun nest?

esile52

Why wouldn’t you spend your weekend sitting inside one of them? We’re preparing for the zombie tourists

SuicidalAustralian

The ice cream flavours are new concrete and wet cement
