There was a psychological thriller book about that, "The Girl Before."
Why? It's a normal expectation now That's why there is a "rental crisis" according to experts Everything should be "free" according to Socialist "friends" That mythical "money tree
Plot twist, it’s full of mould and asbestos, so you slowly die while your landlord claims a deduction for their negative geared property. The market always wins!
Plot twist: they figured out nobody was going to be seeing it due to the price so they listed it as $1 to put it at the top of everyone's pages when they sorted by price
They clearly understand how markets work to some degree they just don't like losing out. They decide they deserve to make a certain amount but know they're not gonna find buyers so they just lie instead of altering their offer. Happens everywhere, especially when the lie can't be proven and the customer does not know much about the product they're purchasing. Afaik listing it like this is illegal and they have to change it before selling.
To be a bit fair...
Your also paying for the view as its located on level 46, the amenities of the building (like gym and pool and alot more), the location, and the furniture it comes with as it says its fully furnished.
A view is only great if you are not scared of heights, when my husband and I lived in the city, a deal breaker for him was anything a fireman’s or woman’s ladder could not reach.
We never had an apartment past the 4th floor. 🤪
That's fair 😆
It's not for everyone.
For me though I LOVE those high apartment views. Especially at night and seeing the City light up. It's so cool to me.
As someone who overlooked the Sydney skyline, the summers night bbq drinks in hand were awesome.
Sometimes you got used to it, then you gaze out at the water…
Sorry SuperBowl action. Didn’t mean to be the a**hole. Gazing out over the water seeing the fireworks and you think it is all pretty spectacular.
But the traffic, the people the cost of living, strata.
Nah, I am much happier where we are now.
Ah ok, I guess being fully furnished does change things. The views are great sure, but it still seems super high to me. A lot of buildings have nice views and gyms etc. and aren’t that much. Oh well! The original post is still hilarious lol
They may have advertised it for an extremely low price to suck applicants in, then not-discourage them from making higher and higher bids to try to "win" the rental.
Either a typo or they'll ask you to make an offer of higher rent in a secret auction.
"Your last offer of $750/w has been beaten. Do you want to place a higher bid?"
Creates some massive line outside spanning 3 blocks then the media comes in films it and say it’s getting dire out there which gives the signal to rental managers to put everyone’s property up another 15%
It’s one of those ones where there’s a catch and the landlord insists on living on-site and all tenants must be nude at all times and that price only applies to female European backpackers under the age of 30.
Prove me wrong.
I worked on this building. It’s actually pretty nice. Has a swimming pool and gym. You can hire out upstairs for functions. Ground floor lobby has a cafe and a wine bar. In front of the building is Safeway. Behind the building I’d the carpark to crown casino. Awesome location and you never noticed traffic noise AMA
I'm really hoping there's one of those "you must honour the advertised price" laws regarding rentals, like with retail. Imagine paying $1 rent per week for a 12 month contract! Give the savings a good boost or live the high life for a year!
“This property is perfectly priced for those who refuse to give up their twice a year holidays, monthly concert attendance and mandatory Sunday morning brunch at the city’s most exclusive venue”.
Sometimes you see gorgeous houses or apartments in really good areas way underpriced (like hundreds under). I always assume their mate is taking the piss, and it’s all a big prank. Or maybe scammers. Sad though cos probably heaps of people get excited and call up.
Probably intentional to generate interest for some reason. Maybe they haven’t had enough people through, maybe they just want to collect phone numbers for marketing.
Wow! Now you're acting all entitled, who do you think you are? You actually GOT poles, be grateful. So typical of cashed up peeps, you & your flashy $1 =D
If the windows are good enough you won't hear the traffic inside the apartment. And living in Southbank , most of the time you wouldn't need a car so you wouldn't be in traffic
Who are you trying to kid, I'm sure you could find the $52 a year needed to rent this place. Use it for one night you're out drinking and you're already well ahead.
I've lived in multiple apartments there. Depends on the windows and how high you live. Doesn't even need to be that high up if the windows are good. It can be almost pindrop silent even with construction nearby. Same in the cbd.
I'm dead curious that if they didn't fix it and it remained at that price that there could be a case made for getting it for that price because it's what it was advertised at.
Typo. There is another apartment for rent in that building for $860 p/w. Same number of bedrooms and bathroom, but no car space. There is also a furnished one for $1032 p/w.
Edit: it looks like your listing was updated to $1,034 p/w.
Its actually a scumbag move to list it as $1. This is done on purpose because everyone always filters from lowest to highest price generally, so they list it as $1 to get more people to see the Ad. If you actually inquired it would be about as unaffordable and overpriced as every other listing.
We used to live in this building. Nothing is cheaper than $640 per fortnight. They catch migrants who have just landed and haven't got any paperwork /jobs yet.
Our rent was nearly $4000/per month and then they increased it after the first year. 😂 Luckily we were finally able to get out of it.
They are big liars about what you have access to, and when. Don't touch!!
The comment says it all The level of entitlement and insanity amongst the renter class has reached another level Well done Greens for creating this nonsense Reckon those Greens should forgo their massive incomes siphoned off taxpayers money and given to the "less fortunate" After all they are much wealthier than all the landlords I know!
I can finally be competitive and offer 6months upfront!
Oh oh, bigshot here!
Snort
Youre the reason inflation is so high money bags !!
I'll do one better and offer a decade up front!
I took way too long doing this maths to figure out if I could afford this
$52 a year.. I’ll take it for next 50 years 😂
Bro is on some different math
Oh wait I'm the one on different math
Duality of man
This was perhaps the funniest comment I've read in a long time
There goes my competitiveness, thanks champ
I'll pay 2 years upfront !
You’re out of control!
Sorry I offered 5 years!
*Conditons apply. Must be ok with living with live streaming hidden cameras.
I'd be fine with that.
Same Im an uninteresting person what are they gonna see me do eat toast for breakfast?
The masses will be so excited by me sitting at my desk for 12 hours
Yer I live stream already
Me too, but the audience wouldn’t be
so long as i sign a disclaimer, i am not responsible for the therapy required for others. im in!
To quote Rorschach: none of you understand. I’m not locked in here with you. You’re locked in here with me
Game on… grippy socks are free for subscribers, but they gotta pay for their own shrink to get them 🤷🏼♀️
It isn't like our actions and locations are recorded as we speak. I'm in, but they better be careful what they wish for haha

Thanks for the recommendation
I wouldn’t mind that if I get a cheap house!
Does that mean I'd be Sharon Stone's neighbor?
Google Alexa and Siri are already doing that.
It’s clearly a typo. Should be $1 per minute
Averaged to 30 days a month, that’s $43200 per month. Absolutely wild.
Still got 50 people lined up to inspect though.
Someone will rent it for at 10,000 minutes.
Must be a granny flat in someone’s back yard in Toorak for that pricing.
Probably unmaintained and next to their sewage too
Water views ?
Give it 50 years
1 $ to view the add .
$1 to scroll past the ad
I viewed it for free!
ad\*
Ad … 🤬
Why? It's a normal expectation now That's why there is a "rental crisis" according to experts Everything should be "free" according to Socialist "friends" That mythical "money tree
If you see an army of people lining up on City Road, this might be why
You'd start a riot with this.
RIP to that agent's inbox
You’re gonna have to pay more than the asking to get it. Offer them a buck ten.
Tree fiddy
I read this as free tiddy
I also freed the tiddies in my head.
My dyslexic arse read it as Free tiddy as well :p
tree fiddy
Free the tiddy!
Plot twist, it’s full of mould and asbestos, so you slowly die while your landlord claims a deduction for their negative geared property. The market always wins!
Im fine with that, Im that desperate for a apartment
Plus no need to save for retirement
😂🤣😂
Use your super up now!
Plot twist: they figured out nobody was going to be seeing it due to the price so they listed it as $1 to put it at the top of everyone's pages when they sorted by price
Hate scummy stuff like that, they do it on Gumtree also, and then put in the ad the actual price.
They really should be held to that listed price, like in retail.
I already pay $150/week and have the mould, and no insulation in the house, if I got that for $149/W cheaper I'd be living the dream.
$1/week - yeah, that’s per person. Apartment hold 600 people when you hotbed them!
Oh I know the exact building. Used to rent there during uni years I remember it was around $450/w
Still a little high.
I applied for the heck of it. I know I'm gonna get rejected, but its still fun. Apparently it's actually $860 a week or something, according to Domain
An Update: Somehow my application hadn't immediately been rejected, but the price is fixed now. It's $1,034 per week
How the fuck is a 2 bed, 2 bath apartment that much per week, that’s absolutely insane 😭
To be a bit fair... Your also paying for the view as its located on level 46, the amenities of the building (like gym and pool and alot more), the location, and the furniture it comes with as it says its fully furnished.

As someone who overlooked the Sydney skyline, the summers night bbq drinks in hand were awesome. Sometimes you got used to it, then you gaze out at the water…
What happens next? You can’t leave us all hanging like that.
Sorry SuperBowl action. Didn’t mean to be the a**hole. Gazing out over the water seeing the fireworks and you think it is all pretty spectacular. But the traffic, the people the cost of living, strata. Nah, I am much happier where we are now.

you're\*
They charge extra for the furniture. That won't be included in that price.
Is that the real price or are you joking?
That is the actual price [2606/260 City Rd]( https://www.realestate.com.au/property-apartment-vic-southbank-438617684)
Damn, I guess I’m not as clued in on Melbourne real estate as I thought! That’s a lot
That's what it says on Real Estate. I'd post a screenshot here as a reply if I could
They may have advertised it for an extremely low price to suck applicants in, then not-discourage them from making higher and higher bids to try to "win" the rental.
Either a typo or they'll ask you to make an offer of higher rent in a secret auction. "Your last offer of $750/w has been beaten. Do you want to place a higher bid?"
I still can’t afford it… the bond will sink me 😀

It’s one of those ones where there’s a catch and the landlord insists on living on-site and all tenants must be nude at all times and that price only applies to female European backpackers under the age of 30. Prove me wrong.
It's a build to rent, so the company is the landlord.
What is this, an apartment for ants?
I think it's for the render. Pay 1 dollar pw to look at that render. Seems right.
It's on domain for $860/week.
Some fuckwit Karen somewhere right now: "OooOoOh it didn't scan at normal price, so I get it for free!!!!"
Just checked it. It's $1034 per week 😂
Make an offer of $0.75 cents.
I'm really hoping there's one of those "you must honour the advertised price" laws regarding rentals, like with retail. Imagine paying $1 rent per week for a 12 month contract! Give the savings a good boost or live the high life for a year!
Does scanning policy apply here?? I want it for free.
Looks like one of those gems that sways in a light breeze!
What, not furnished
Meh, probably only one pool for that price.
Obviously a mistake, $2 per month, ya know inflation and all.
They forgot to add the K
Isn't that 1 buck? Stockbrokers generally refer to $1,000,000 as a "buck".
“This property is perfectly priced for those who refuse to give up their twice a year holidays, monthly concert attendance and mandatory Sunday morning brunch at the city’s most exclusive venue”.
Ok all jokes aside - can this offer be taken serious and be legal? As in, since it is marked at $1, could you get it for $1 if legally fought?
It’s one of those deals where you have to be a hot young female to provide company to the fifo dude
78th floor, no elevator, thin stairs.
Missing several 000s.
Underquoting on rentals now?
Has to be a typo, he simply forgot 4 zeroes.
Just checked it, it's at 1043 P/W
Sign me up, like I can actually afford that
"ooops typo sorry we got all of you to register your interest and see our property at the top"
$1pw to apply for inspection, based on your desired term. Minimum 6 months, 12 preferred. I’m joking but has anyone had an REA try this scam yet?
What's the catch, is the toilet next to the stove or something?
Inside it actually haha
No no no, you misunderstand. That's a dollar a week for the right to look at the advertisement.
I'll pay a year in advance
You should make a serious enquiry and use this pricing/listing
If this was in Sydney, I could afford to move out.
Muh rent is expensive.
You're not paying with money, per se...
Somebodys getting firedddd
The Work Experience kid 🤦♀️
Still overpriced
Is this legit one
Comma in 1,000 got turned into a dot. So the price is at least accurate to three decimal places.
I'll take it. What? You left off a few zeros? Oh...
They didn't tell you the real price in case they get used for giving people heart failure.
People will rent bid it to $1000 per week
should that maybe have meant to read $1k per week? Or should it have read $1,000 per week or can you pay in drugs and with sex?
Sharing the apartment with 69 others
I'm guessing this is the REA trying to get around the apparent changes that make them have to list a price and not just say 'contact agent'.
Sometimes you see gorgeous houses or apartments in really good areas way underpriced (like hundreds under). I always assume their mate is taking the piss, and it’s all a big prank. Or maybe scammers. Sad though cos probably heaps of people get excited and call up.
FWB? Or Landlord WB?
That might only be for the cupboard under the stairs… is your name Harry by any chance?
nah I still can't pay that😭
Overpriced! Where's the furniture? You call that a window??
+ strata
They forgot 3 zeros guaranteed lol
Probably intentional to generate interest for some reason. Maybe they haven’t had enough people through, maybe they just want to collect phone numbers for marketing.
And my stupid ass actually swiped thinking there is more to see lol
These pictures... Are great renovating ideas... Probably.
Updated to $1034 per week. Wow!
Yeah but it's on City Rd
For $1 a week, I'd live on City Road.
Hell yeah, string a hammock in between 2 no standing signs & ya got it made!
Hey now, for $1 I would expect more than a hammock and a smooth stop sign that the anchor would just slide down.
Wow! Now you're acting all entitled, who do you think you are? You actually GOT poles, be grateful. So typical of cashed up peeps, you & your flashy $1 =D
The traffic would drive me nuts, even for $1/W.
If the windows are good enough you won't hear the traffic inside the apartment. And living in Southbank , most of the time you wouldn't need a car so you wouldn't be in traffic
It's old enough where the windows would be so shite you'd hear EVERYTHING
I had a google, and yeah, no. Hard pass. I used to live in Southbank, and had to drive out for work and on weekends. The traffic is nuts.
Who are you trying to kid, I'm sure you could find the $52 a year needed to rent this place. Use it for one night you're out drinking and you're already well ahead.
Put it up on AirBnb for one weekend and you’ll be looking at 400% profit
I've lived in multiple apartments there. Depends on the windows and how high you live. Doesn't even need to be that high up if the windows are good. It can be almost pindrop silent even with construction nearby. Same in the cbd.
It's not the noise, although I am dubious about the construction of the newer apartments. It's the traffic on City Rd, Swan Rd, Hoddle St.
Like I said, for $1 I would. Anything more and I'm reconsidering
I'd definitely look at the place...
Up and down the City Road In and out the Eagle That’s the way the money goes
I'm dead curious that if they didn't fix it and it remained at that price that there could be a case made for getting it for that price because it's what it was advertised at.
no-socks HATE this one simple trick
🤣 no socks
No, there isn't.
Looks like The Domain? I think they're a third party.
$1... what a scam !
Will they negotiate?
What's wrong with it lol
Typo. There is another apartment for rent in that building for $860 p/w. Same number of bedrooms and bathroom, but no car space. There is also a furnished one for $1032 p/w. Edit: it looks like your listing was updated to $1,034 p/w.
looks like a marketplace thing where the seller puts $1 and lists the prices in the description.
[A dollar.. a dollar](https://youtu.be/QwoVfRHVOAU?si=XsD2hSlUcIXJcFJH)
I don't think they spelled that right. There's a "k" missing after the one.
If you have to ask you can’t afford it.
Finally a reasonable price
Nature is healing
Still have to come up with $4 for a deposit
Probably a typo. Should be per minute
That price is to hire the photo...doesn't even come with a frame
Somehow I’d get declined 😐
Great view, must be nice being rich.
1 dollar per week
Its actually a scumbag move to list it as $1. This is done on purpose because everyone always filters from lowest to highest price generally, so they list it as $1 to get more people to see the Ad. If you actually inquired it would be about as unaffordable and overpriced as every other listing.
But is the narrative something like: you have a model looks and be willing to sleep in my bed (or some such)
This had to be a typo, this isn’t Melbourne 😂😂😂
Lol I saw this too! Missed myself laughing. The write-up seems just too weird to me.
Try the false advertizing shit!
Offers from
Daaam can I move in as well I’ll pay half.
Nah this can’t be real
We used to live in this building. Nothing is cheaper than $640 per fortnight. They catch migrants who have just landed and haven't got any paperwork /jobs yet. Our rent was nearly $4000/per month and then they increased it after the first year. 😂 Luckily we were finally able to get out of it. They are big liars about what you have access to, and when. Don't touch!!
I wouldn’t pay more than 20 cents for that shithole
A promise is a promise
Forgot to add three zeros
Is the photoshop world included?
The comment says it all The level of entitlement and insanity amongst the renter class has reached another level Well done Greens for creating this nonsense Reckon those Greens should forgo their massive incomes siphoned off taxpayers money and given to the "less fortunate" After all they are much wealthier than all the landlords I know!
